One of the room’s do...
One of the room’s downlights was out. After I contacted the hotel, someone came to replace it, but I think this should have been checked in advance. Also, I was told that coffee from the first-floor lounge could be brought to my room, but when I called the front desk from my room, they told me to request it directly from the lounge, so the information and response were inconsistent. I didn’t feel the front desk service was very good. Other than that, it was a nice hotel.

The hot springs were...
The hot springs were wonderful. The scenic terrace with the footbath felt amazing both at night and in the morning, and we really enjoyed the escape from everyday life. We also enjoyed delicious drinks and meals. When we returned to our room, a very fluffy-looking futon had been prepared, but my whole family said in unison, “So heavy!” Maybe because of humidity? The heavy comforter made it hard to sleep deeply, and we woke up feeling unrested. Perhaps it was because we booked a “limited-view” discounted room (“imperfect view & great value”), but unfortunately the bedding was disappointing.

It was a newly built accommodation.
At the foot of Hakone, this is a large, traditional Showa-era hot-spring hotel in an old-fashioned onsen town. It doesn’t offer the cutting-edge facilities or design of today’s ultra-luxury properties, but the staff’s attentiveness is outstanding in every detail—from reception to dining arrangements. For example, even though we had a late dinner slot during a packed holiday buffet service, they promptly guided us to an adjacent room; as soon as seats opened up, they moved us to a table closer to the food. They also set some kid-friendly dishes on slightly lower stands, which meant our five-year-old grandchild could choose food independently for the first time and was thrilled. If you come expecting to enjoy a classic large ryokan experience, it’s an excellent place for a very pleasant stay.

We were able to relax and enjoy our stay with our baby!
As this was our first trip with our baby, we were a little anxious beforehand, but it ended up being even more comfortable than we imagined! The room was clean, and it was very helpful that baby supplies were available for purchase at the shop, and that items could also be prepared in the room if requested in advance. It truly felt like a family-friendly hotel. We were able to relax and enjoy the private open-air bath in our room at a leisurely pace. All of the staff were kind, and their service was excellent. For dinner, we chose the Special Selected Wagyu Kaiseki plan at the Japanese dining restaurant, and it was delicious—we were very satisfied! The only thing that felt a little lacking for us personally was the breakfast buffet, but everything else exceeded our expectations. It’s a place where you can stay with peace of mind even with a baby, so we would definitely love to stay again if we have the chance!

Very satisfied
We were satisfied with everything, including the food, hot springs, and service. However, the road from the main road to the main building was hard to find and very narrow, and at times it felt uncomfortably close even for pedestrians, which made us uneasy. Aside from that, it is an inn we would definitely like to visit again.

Accommodation
This was our first time looking for a place to stay around Yumoto, and since we were traveling with a baby, it wasn’t easy to find the right accommodation, so we chose Hotel Okada. We usually have in-room meals, but this time we wanted both dinner and breakfast to be buffet-style, so we made a reservation. The buffet had a wide variety of dishes, so we never got bored and were able to eat plenty. The room was spacious, and our baby seemed happy too. We would love to stay again if we have the opportunity. Thank you very much.

After about 30 years! A wonderful Room with every comfort provided
I stayed here with my parents in their 70s, thinking it was time to visit again after many years—my last stay was as a child with my late grandfather and family. The day after a typhoon passed, it was raining much harder than expected, and the loop bus from Hakone-Yumoto had an enormous line. The Hotel arranged a Shuttle Service, so I let my parents board first. The lobby was packed—perhaps because many guests arrived early due to the bad weather—and it was extremely crowded. Because check-in uses a traditional system, staff had to walk around calling guests’ names, which looked quite challenging. Some improvements here would likely make things more comfortable for both guests and staff. Since this was my first visit in about 30 years, I expected some aging and reserved a Room on the 12th floor. When we got off the elevator, there were colorful yukata available to choose from. The Room felt spacious and spotless the moment we entered—everyone couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise. There were plenty of towels available whenever we needed them. The Room also came with yukata and samue loungewear; the samue was especially comfortable for relaxing. From the hair dryer and shower head to the curling iron—and even the shampoo and treatment—it was all ReFa products, which I loved. The amenities were by Mikimoto as well, which made me happy; having enough provided for the next morning too is a big plus. The refrigerator selection was exciting as well: sparkling wine, Yebisu beer, Suzuhiro mini kamaboko fish cakes, and even Shonan Gold pudding. The in-room bath was excellent—we ended up using it three times instead of going to the public bath. I think this type of Room is especially convenient for seniors or families with infants. We chose the buffet dinner; understandably, though, the air conditioning was quite strong—I’m glad I brought something to layer over my clothes. We enjoyed everything from sashimi to steak from the live kitchen. Overall, I felt this is a unique and enjoyable Hotel that blends an old-school retro atmosphere with modern updates in a way you don’t often find elsewhere. The staff were generally very pleasant. I’m rating it slightly lower because the lobby felt smaller than before with not enough seating, and it also felt too cold due to strong air conditioning.

It has a classic, long-established feel—for better or worse.
I stayed one night with my wife. It was our first time here, and the service was courteous and excellent, as you would expect from a long-established inn. On the other hand, while there are thoughtful touches in the Facility, we did notice some signs of age. Considering the price, the meals were at a reasonable level. We were also very happy that alcoholic drinks were included with unlimited refills. It became a wonderful first-time memory of Hakone.

A comfortable Hotel with delicious meals
Because my husband uses a wheelchair, we have stayed three times in the top-floor Room with an open-air bath, and once in a slightly smaller Room one grade below. We stayed again this time, and the top-floor Room with the open-air bath (about 2.5 m long and 1.4 m wide) is still excellent. Because it is barrier-free, it is very comfortable for my husband, who has limited mobility. The toilet and wash area are also spacious, so I was able to assist him without any problems. However, if I may mention one thing: there are no handrails anywhere near the large open-air bath. Bathing with only my assistance feels quite dangerous, so I have to be very careful. If there were just one handrail—either between the tub and the Room wall or on the tub itself—it would make getting in and out much easier. Not only for guests with disabilities but also for elderly guests, it would be wonderful if even just one top-floor Room could offer this kind of consideration. The meals are delicious, the attention to detail in the Room is excellent, and the staff’s warm smiles make this a wonderful Hotel. It is also a thoughtful Hotel that keeps everyday items on hand—for example baby diapers—in case you forget something. I sincerely hope you will consider additional accommodations for elderly guests and those with disabilities as well.

Perfect for your taste
I’d grown tired of over-the-top facilities, excessive service, and kaiseki meals, but since I prefer a Room with an open-air bath, I tried various Ryokan. By chance I stayed at Hotel Okada, and the first thing I liked was the dinner buffet—it didn’t feel cheap at all. I’ve visited four times, and each time I stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. The accommodation rate also feels reasonable. There were enough staff in the lobby, and their service felt pleasant.

My sister and I stay...
My sister and I stayed here. Since my younger sister is a huge Onsen fan, she was delighted that we could use a day-use Onsen Facility just a few minutes’ walk away for free, even in yukata. She was also happy to hear that the Hotel’s large public bath is open until 1:00 a.m. (I didn’t go, but she actually went by herself after midnight.) There were several free massage chairs all over the place—so many that it almost made us wonder if it was affiliated with a massage chair company. We get along well, but our food preferences are slightly different, so we chose the buffet on purpose. There was a wide variety of options, and drinks were all-you-can-drink as well. It felt suitable for everyone from children to guests around our age and older, which was great. The staff discreetly cleared finished plates from the table, so we could enjoy our meal comfortably. As expected of Hakone (maybe because Odawara is nearby?), the seafood at the buffet was delicious. The Room was clean as well. It was a great change of pace. Thank you very much.

It was a wonderful Accommodation.
We stayed here to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday and my daughter’s first birthday. We were so happy to receive the gifts and letter!!! The food was delicious, and the staff were kind—this is a truly wonderful Accommodation!

Very satisfied!
I stayed at Hotel Okada for the first time, which I had been interested in for a while. The view from the Room was wonderful, and I was able to relax and unwind in the private open-air bath. I was also happy that I could freely enjoy the drinks in the Room’s refrigerator. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

It was a bit disappointing.
I returned because I was very satisfied with my stay last summer, but this time there were a few disappointing points. When I entered the Room, it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and the odor did not go away even with an air purifier. There were also some mistakes on the Hotel’s side, so they changed my Room. The new Room was an upgraded one and it was comfortable. The towels were high quality and the amenities were plentiful. However, another issue came up: the safe didn’t work. It was fixed once, but when I tried to open it the next day there was no response again, so it seems the previous repair wasn’t done properly. Staff had to come in and out many times, which made it hard to relax. It was also inconvenient that there was no refrigerator in the Room—only a cooler box of some kind—so beer that had been chilled became lukewarm. Most disappointing of all was that last year’s dinner had delicious crab, which was my main reason for returning, but it wasn’t available this time and I was shocked. I appreciate that drinks are now all-you-can-drink, but I felt the overall food quality had declined. The Onsen at Okada no Sato is excellent, but the slope is tough for elderly guests.

A very satisfying stay with an excellent Onsen
For a Room in Hakone with a private Onsen, the price was relatively reasonable, and I felt it offered great value for money. The Facility as a whole shows its age, but it was well cleaned and comfortable to stay in. The in-room Onsen had excellent water quality and left my skin feeling smooth, so I used it many times during my stay. The large public bath was also spacious and open, though the water temperature was a bit hot for me. Meals were satisfying overall: kaiseki dinner and a breakfast buffet. On the other hand, the corridors felt somewhat dated and the lighting was dim, which gave a slightly lonely impression. The door key was heavy and bulky, making it inconvenient to carry around. Soundproofing also didn’t seem very strong—I could hear people walking and talking in the hallway from inside my Room. Even so, despite those points, I was very satisfied with this Accommodation as an affordable place to enjoy a private Onsen in Hakone, and I would like to stay here again when visiting Hakone.

We stayed here on our first trip to Hakone with two children. We chose it because the price was reasonable and the Reviews were good. The meals were buffet-style, so honestly I didn’t expect much, but I was very satisfied with the quality, variety, and taste. We added the all-you-can-drink plan, and there was not only beer but also plenty of wine, sake, sours, and more—perfect for anyone who enjoys alcohol! We also enjoyed a wide variety of baths in a separate building. The building itself may be old, but it was kept very clean and we had a comfortable stay. I’d like to stay here again when we visit Hakone!

Reliable and secure

A well-balanced, great Hotel
The four of us—mother and daughter, aunt, and cousin—stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. The garden view from the Room was wonderful, and we were soothed by seeing many birds that are rarely found in the city. The Onsen offerings were excellent: in-room open-air bath, the large public bath, plus a footbath and a Facility called “Yunosato,” so we truly enjoyed Onsen to the fullest. The water quality was great and left our skin silky smooth. We were also delighted that the hair dryer, iron, shampoo, and more were all ReFa products. All staff members were courteous, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. We also appreciated the 11:00 check-out time—it allowed us to enjoy one more Onsen after breakfast and make the most of our stay until the very end.

Thank you very much for your hospitality. All of the selectable yukata had beautiful patterns—I couldn’t decide. The haori was easy to wear, and the colors were lovely as well. We stayed in a Japanese-Western style room with beds, and the front desk kindly asked whether we would like futons laid out, so we requested them. Thanks to that, we were able to relax in a spacious room. The meals were lively both morning and evening, and we thoroughly enjoyed the dishes from the tea fair—everything was so delicious that there never seemed to be enough time (haha). I almost missed out because I didn’t notice the live kitchen at first. The financier served for dessert was outstanding; along with the canelé, it was truly delicious—like a separate dessert stomach!! We also fully enjoyed the Onsen and the massage chairs.

The perfect balance of comfort and relaxation
This time, we stayed in a Room with a private Onsen bath. The bath was filled with the soothing scent of hinoki cypress, and the view from the window was beautiful, allowing us to relax both body and mind. The dinner and breakfast buffet featured seasonal ingredients and a wide variety of dishes; we couldn’t try everything, but everything we did taste was delicious and kept us excited throughout. The staff’s hospitality was also excellent. This is a Hotel we would love to visit again.

The Room was great!
The view from the Room bath was amazing, but the best part was relaxing on the terrace while listening to the river and birds. It was a Room I didn’t want to leave, and I’d love to come back again. The in-house slippers seemed sized for men and were too large for women, making it difficult to walk up and down the slope to Yunozato.

Both the property and the Room were spacious and comfortable, allowing me to relax in peace.
My family saw it featured on TV during Golden Week and wanted to go, so we decided to visit on short notice. Unfortunately, it rained both days (especially the second day, with torrential rain...), so we couldn’t step outside at all. Still, both the Room and the building were spacious and relaxing, and we were able to focus on resting in peace. As we’ve gotten older, we tend to avoid buffets because we can’t eat large amounts, but this time there was a live kitchen and we enjoyed freshly grilled and freshly fried dishes. The alcohol being free was unusual as well. The peperoncino was delicious—we both ended up devouring it. The bathing area was also spacious and great. Because of the heavy rain, we couldn’t go to the annex building, which was disappointing. The footbath looked stylish and seemed like it would have a great view too, but again we couldn’t enter due to the downpour. Our Room was Western-style; it was spacious, and the placement and brightness of the lights were excellent—bright when awake, then comfortably dim at bedtime—so I fell asleep easily. Many Western-style rooms tend to be quite dark, so I really appreciated this. We couldn’t go anywhere because of the weather, but the souvenir shop area was large and enjoyable. The weather is just luck of the draw; next time I’d like to use the outdoor facilities—and also try meals other than the buffet if possible. It would be helpful if there were a map showing where each item is located in the buffet area. Because the venue is large and it was fairly crowded, it took a while to reach what we wanted. As for the baths: only the stairs from the changing area down into the bathing room felt a bit dark—I thought some lighting there would be nice (everything else was sufficient). Overall, everything has been renovated in a practical way for comfort—it made for a very pleasant stay.
