    A historic yet clean and luxurious accommodation

    This was my first visit, and I was deeply impressed by the staff's exceptional manners. The luxurious furnishings created a rich and elegant atmosphere. The embroidered artwork in the basement was truly captivating. In addition to the large public bath in the basement, there were four open-air baths on the rooftop, offering a refreshing experience. What delighted me most was the buffet dining experience. Every dish was carefully prepared, and even desserts like melons and Häagen-Dazs ice cream were available—everything exceeded expectations. I would love to visit again!

    I was very satisfied.

    A clean and well-maintained Hotel with no sense of age, from the Room to the large public bath and throughout the facility. The meals are so delicious that you wouldn't think it's a buffet, leaving us fully satisfied. The staff were pleasant, making our stay enjoyable. This is a place worth recommending and revisiting. We look forward to coming back soon!

    The buffet meals have become even more delicious.

    This time, after two years, I visited with my son. The dinner buffet seemed to have more variety and tasted even better than last time. The beef stew was as delicious as ever, and my son was very satisfied. We ate so much that we couldn't enjoy much of the melon dessert, which is my son's favorite. The check-in process, where you fill out the accommodation card and wait in the lobby until your number is called, was stress-free and a great method. We would love to visit again if we have the chance!

    Girls' Trip

    I stayed with three mom friends. The Hotel, though old, had been renovated and was very clean. Both breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of dishes, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The steak at dinner and the omelet in the morning were especially delicious! However, the salmon roe at breakfast was a bit salty. I thought it would be nice to relax and enjoy the Hotel for about two nights. Unfortunately, the view from the window was disappointing as there were abandoned-looking hotels across the river.

    The bath was great!

    Stayed in the Shuhokan Japanese-style Room, Valley Side, 12 Tatami Mats with my mother and sister. The room was clean and satisfying. The open atrium in the lobby is stunning! Used two large public baths; they were spacious, not crowded, and very relaxing. The showerheads and shampoo bar were also great. We chose a plan with breakfast and dinner included. The buffet offered a variety of options to enjoy. One disappointing point was during check-in when the staff seemed too engrossed in chatting to provide guidance, leaving us unsure of the procedure. I had my mother sit while we waited for our turn. Other guests received a tour of the facility, but we did not get one. This experience deducts one star from our rating.

    Father's Birthday Celebration

    I previously stayed at this accommodation with my family and kept telling my parents, "It was so wonderful; I hope we can go together someday." This time, I was able to invite them as part of a celebration for my father's birthday. We had high expectations, and in the end, they were very pleased. The grandeur of the open atrium upon entering the lobby was stunning. Although we arrived a bit early, check-in was quick and smooth, allowing us to move to our room right away. While the previous stay in Building 8 was lovely, this time we stayed in two types of rooms with baths in the main building—both still new and absolutely beautiful. The sky garden open-air bath with its breathtaking views and the spacious public bath were truly relaxing. The buffet offered such a wide variety that it made choosing what to eat exciting—and perhaps led us to overindulge! The warm hospitality from all staff members added to our enjoyment. My father seemed very satisfied with the thoughtful gestures from the hotel. Next time, I hope to visit again as three generations—my parents and children together. Thank you so much!

    Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. However, there were no towels in the large public bath, so I found it a bit inconvenient to bring them from the Room.

    I had a relaxing time.

    Highly satisfied

    The meals, Onsen, and service were all excellent. We checked in at 3 PM and enjoyed the stone sauna and Onsen, and at night played table tennis—there wasn’t enough time to enjoy everything the Hotel had to offer. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We would love to stay again!

    It was a wonderful Onsen Hotel.

    The moment I entered, I was overwhelmed by the spacious atrium lobby. The check-in process was well thought out, with procedures displayed on a monitor for convenience. The front desk staff were professional and kind, offering service comparable to that of a city hotel—it was only later that I realized it was an Onsen Hotel. The open-air rooftop Onsen was truly astonishing; there is nothing else like it—truly impressive. Meals were served buffet-style with an extravagant selection that left me fully satisfied. Most of the dishes seemed to be handmade in-house, reflecting the chef's dedication and passion. Managing such a large hotel while maintaining high customer satisfaction must not be easy, but I could sense the strong commitment and exceptional management behind it all.

    The buffet was delicious.

    This was my first time staying at this accommodation. The building was very impressive, and the central atrium was beautiful. The room was clean, and I could relax comfortably. The meal I looked forward to the most was a buffet with a wide variety of dishes, including some freshly prepared on the spot, all of which were delicious. I would love to stay at this accommodation again when I visit Kinugawa next time.

    Glad I went.

    Reserved a room on the valley side. From the room, you can see the valley and Kinugawa River. Looking to the left, you'll notice the famous abandoned hotel ruins often seen on TV. While opinions may vary, it feels like a remarkable landmark. From the moment of arrival at the Hotel, I noticed there were many young staff members, but I was even more surprised during dinner. The young staff cleared plates with perfect timing to the point where I lost track of how much I had eaten! The Hotel has three baths, each with unique features, providing great satisfaction.

    It was as good as the reviews said. The curry was also delicious. However, it was disappointing that there was only one staff member at checkout, which caused a delay.

    The Best Accommodation

    My parents in their 70s stayed here. Everything was wonderful, and they were especially impressed by the meals. We plan to return in three months.

    It was an accommodation that lived up to its reputation.

    We visited to celebrate my elderly mother's (91 years old) birthday. Asaya is always ranked highly among Kinugawa Onsen accommodations, and the good reviews were a deciding factor. When we arrived, check-in was crowded, so we had to wait for a while. Our room was in the Hachibankan building. Although accessing the dining area was slightly inconvenient, the view was great, and the room was very clean and satisfying. I wanted to try using the Premium Lounge, but it was very small and unfortunately too crowded to enter. The large onsen in Hachibankan had its entrance right by the elevator, which was convenient. We could enjoy it without any crowding at all. My mother has weak legs but thoroughly enjoyed the buffet. Popular dishes ran out quickly but were promptly replenished, which was impressive. Staff members frequently checked and cleaned up any spills or messes with care—it truly stood out as excellent service! Everything tasted delicious and lived up to its reputation. It turned out to be a wonderful accommodation that left our whole family completely satisfied!

    Would love to visit again!

    I stayed with a friend at the accommodation! The buffet we were looking forward to was very delicious, and we were extremely satisfied! The open-air bath and sauna allowed us to relax completely, and we had a wonderful time. I would love to visit again with friends or family.

    It was wonderful!

    We invited my parents to celebrate their 80th birthdays and wedding anniversary! They were overwhelmed by the excellence of the Facility and thoroughly enjoyed both the bath and meals. During breakfast, they received a warm greeting from the staff along with a pair of commemorative chopsticks, making it a truly memorable trip for them. We deeply appreciate the hospitality of the staff!

    It was an enjoyable Golden Week.

    When I mentioned during the inquiry that it was my mother's 77th birthday celebration, they remembered and gave us a wonderful gift and message during dinner! I was deeply moved and grateful! The highlight was the buffet for both dinner and breakfast—it was amazing! Crab, quail, steak, and other luxurious dishes were delicious! However, the 1.5-hour time limit felt too short... It takes time to get items like whole crabs or browse around, so it wasn’t very relaxing. A 2-hour limit would be ideal... That part was disappointing. The Room was clean with no unpleasant odors at all! The fact that the large public bath is open 24 hours is a big plus! The stone sauna? It made me sweat like a Korean jjimjilbang sauna, which I really enjoyed! I’d love to visit again!

    Wonderful Hotel

    - Rooms & Amenities The room was a standard one, but it felt spacious and was very clean, making for a comfortable stay. It was slightly inconvenient to bring towels to the large public bath, but considering the size of this large hotel, it seemed understandable. - Hospitality & Service The service was truly excellent. Every staff member greeted us properly, whether they were cleaning staff at the public bath or new employees—it was thoroughly consistent. It's rare to find such a large hotel with this level of greeting etiquette. I would say it rivals or even surpasses Kaga-ya where I stayed before. The front desk staff and those at the stone sauna reception were also very kind and helpful. - Onsen & Bath This too was wonderful. At first glance, the water seemed ordinary, but it kept me warm for a long time and felt incredibly pleasant. The open-air bath with its mountain view nearby offered an exhilarating experience as well. It was my first time trying the stone sauna; its intense sweating effect even improved my digestion—perfect before enjoying the buffet! - Facilities Staying in such a luxurious space is quite rare and made me not want to leave because of how comfortable it felt here! However, one small complaint: the game center's settings were too strict compared to places like New Akao Hotel or Suginoi Hotel where prizes are easier to win—this might disappoint children if it's overly difficult. - Dining The buffet overall left an excellent impression on me; however there weren’t any standout dishes that tasted exceptionally amazing individually—but given its price range—it still deserves high praise! -Satisfaction Level Previously while strolling around Kinugawa Onsen area during another trip—I noticed only *one* sparkling brightly-lit accommodation standing out among others—that turned out being Asaya later upon research which piqued curiosity enough wanting someday staying there myself finally fulfilling dream now purposefully visiting specifically just     I stay at the accomm...

    I stay at the accommodation once a year to create memories with my parents. I always look forward to the meals and enjoy eating until I'm full. The 90-minute duration feels too short, so it would be nice if it were a bit longer... This time, breakfast was on the 4th floor. Although I was initially nervous as it was my first time, I had a very satisfying experience in the semi-private room where I could relax. Thank you very much!

    Stayed on April 25th...

    Stayed on April 25th. The entrance was indeed luxurious, reflecting its construction during the bubble era. There’s a souvenir shop and enough items available that you don’t need to leave the facility for small necessities. Although I didn’t use them, there seemed to be a game center and possibly even a ping-pong table. One downside is the limited number of elevators, which are also quite small. However, the all-you-can-eat crab was excellent (be careful not to overeat—I felt sick from eating too much!).

    The meals were good, but...

    Onsen Ranking East Yokozuna - Asaya. I suddenly had two free days, and since it was a place I had always wanted to visit, I made a reservation immediately. I was really looking forward to it. It has the luxurious atmosphere of the bubble era and is absolutely wonderful. The building might be old, but it was well-cleaned, and the room was very comfortable. The meals were among the top three in terms of luxury and taste compared to other buffet-style hotels I've visited so far. The onsen water was also quite good, making my stay very pleasant. However... When I got into bed intending to sleep, I found that the futon was extremely disappointing. The mattress was so thin that it shocked me—just a foldable three-piece mat? It felt even thinner than those at budget onsen chain hotels! For a hotel or ryokan of this grade and price range, this is far too poor in quality. The sleeping comfort was terrible. And then came an incident after going to bed... When I woke up in the morning, my legs were itchy! Looking at them revealed multiple bites from mites... They turned red with some swelling; they were unbearably itchy—it ruined everything for me. Even now, about three weeks after my stay there, the redness hasn’t subsided completely nor has the itchiness gone away—it’s been tough dealing with this. Everything else about my stay was great except for these issues: disappointing futons and being bitten by mites were hard experiences to overlook though… Measures should definitely be taken regarding these problems! Since I loved both their food offerings as well as their onsen experience overall—I sincerely hope improvements will happen soon enough here! Maybe next time choosing rooms equipped w/ beds like Japanese-Western style ones would work better?

    This is my second visit.

    My first visit was in September last year. I was impressed by the delicious dinner, the perfection of the dishes on the plate, and their artistic presentation—even a single Hoba leaf was beautifully crafted. Eagerly awaiting spring, I made my much-anticipated second visit. The dinner... somehow felt different from the first time. It was delicious, but green peas appeared twice during the meal; it would have been nice to see a bit more variety in ingredients.

    Thank you for accommodating us on my wife's birthday.

    This was our second stay, and we stayed for two nights to celebrate my wife's birthday. For meals, we chose a buffet on the first day and kaiseki cuisine on the second day. We had experienced the buffet before, and with its wide variety of dishes, we enjoyed eating to our heart's content. On the second day, I informed them in advance about my wife's birthday and upgraded to kaiseki cuisine for an additional fee. The kaiseki meal exceeded our expectations with its carefully selected ingredients and excellent preparation—each dish was incredibly delicious. Breakfast was a Japanese set meal, which also featured numerous delicious dishes that were so plentiful we couldn't finish them all. Additionally, as it was my wife's birthday, she received a lacquered chopstick set as a gift from the proprietress, which made her very happy. The only downside was that there were no bath towels available in the large public bath area. Personally, I prefer using fresh towels each time; having to bring one from the room and reuse it damp afterward was slightly disappointing. However, everything else was wonderful—the room was spotless with great attention to cleanliness, and even the private open-air bath felt very clean. My wife thoroughly enjoyed it as well. This ryokan truly lives up to its reputation as one of the best in eastern Japan—we are grateful for such a memorable birthday trip for my wife. Thank you very much!

    The buffet and customer service are excellent.

    I stayed in the Small Twin Room at Asaya, known for its high review ratings. Meals: The buffet lived up to its reputation and was very delicious (Dinner: crab and steak were exquisite, with a variety of desserts including Häagen-Dazs. Breakfast: the seafood bowl was outstanding). Bath: The large public bath in Building 3 was great (though there was a slight chlorine smell due to circulation). Service: The entire accommodation was impeccably clean, and it left an impression that staff were always greeting guests and cleaning. Buffet clearing was quick and efficient, making it comfortable. Room: I stayed in the Small Twin Room as expected; however, it felt cramped, and the view of the back of a signboard made it less relaxing. Overall rating is 4 stars, but considering the accommodation cost, service and meals alone deserve 5 stars. Next time I plan to stay in a larger room. Thank you, Asaya!

    I will definitely visit again.

    This is my second stay. This time, I traveled by Spacia. From the station, I enjoyed a leisurely walk while admiring the cherry blossoms just starting to bloom. The meals and onsen are truly exceptional. I felt refreshed and relieved from daily fatigue. Although I got bitten by a gnat in the open-air bath, I look forward to visiting again in a different season.

    Enjoyed delicious cuisine and relaxing Onsen.

    Stayed for one night with a friend on a weekday. Arrived at Kinugawa Onsen Station just before 3 PM via the dial bus. Received a check-in number and was surprised to see over 20 groups waiting, but the time passed quickly while admiring the luxurious lobby and listening to the automatic pipe organ performance. After passing through the connecting corridor from Shuhokan, we entered Hachibankan, where a calm and serene atmosphere awaited us. I was slightly concerned about the narrow twin bedroom shown in photos on their website, but futons were laid out in the Japanese-style room, allowing my friend and me to sleep comfortably without any worries. Both the rooftop open-air bath and Hachibankan's bath were uncrowded, letting us fully enjoy relaxing in Onsen. We opted for kaiseki cuisine served in a private dining room this time, which exceeded our expectations with its exceptional flavors. The Tochigi beef poêlé was especially outstanding—perfectly cooked with tender and juicy meat that had an incredible depth of flavor even without sauce—a truly remarkable dish! From appetizers to dessert paired with beer, sake, and wine, we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our meal. The quiet private dining space combined with attentive service at our pace made it even more delightful. We look forward to visiting again during another season to enjoy their cuisine once more!
