    We had a great time.

    We stayed at the Hotel for a family trip with two elementary school children and a preschooler. The draft beer in the lounge was a delightful touch! There were two types of servers, Asahi and Kirin, which was also a great service. The dinner afterward was delicious, and we ended up eating too much. In the second round at the lounge, there was Zao cheese available, but unfortunately, we were too full to try it. The Onsen was very relaxing and warmed us up nicely. The next morning, we enjoyed a snow-viewing bath, which became a wonderful memory. At night, there was an event in the courtyard with roasted marshmallows by the fire pit that thrilled our kids. The starry sky was also beautiful. We stayed in a Japanese-style Room where we laid out our own futons. Some parts of the floor felt slightly uneven or sunken but did not cause any issues during our stay. It’s definitely a Hotel we'd love to visit again!

    If not crowded, satisfaction is high.

    The Hotel offers excellent service from the staff, spacious baths, and the convenience of having Snow Skin Essence available. The two-part meal system could have been better managed or explained, as it was extremely crowded around 7 PM. Despite occasional encounters with large groups causing congestion and discomfort due to differing manners, the overall experience was positive. The all-inclusive meals felt like an exceptional value for the price. The kindness of the staff left a lasting impression, and I wish them continued success in their efforts.

    Is it not designed for a Multiple Night Stay?

    Stayed for 2 nights. While I understand that room cleaning was not provided, it was surprising to have to bring used towels to the front desk for exchange. Honestly, it felt like a barter system, and having to carry them all the way to the front desk was unexpected. Additionally, dinner on both nights was exactly the same. It was disappointing as there were no changes at all. In the lounge, I noticed some guests who didn’t include meals in their stay filling up on snacks, which also surprised me. However, many of the hotel staff were very pleasant. Especially the lady at the Onsen; her warm demeanor made me feel cheerful and relaxed.

    You are always welcome to visit.

    This was my second stay, and staying for more than two nights is definitely more relaxing. Staying here and skiing has become an end-of-year tradition for me. However, in 2024, the lounge on the first floor had Othello or playing cards available, but this year they were not there, which was disappointing. Also, during our stay as a group of three, there were only two yukatas provided, and there were no extra tissues available in the room, so we had to go to the reception each time. Despite these minor inconveniences, the dining staff were all kind and attentive. I will use this accommodation again!

    Best value for money.

    This all-inclusive meal selection is excellent for under 10,000 yen. It would be even better if there were three types of local Japanese sake available. The lounge drinks could also use some improvement. A bit more variety in Japanese cuisine would be appreciated. The fries for children were cold and not tasty. The bath faucet was malfunctioning, suddenly releasing cold water, which was unpleasant. The temperature of the bathwater was lukewarm. The Room alarm was broken and kept ringing, which caused inconvenience. Thankfully, it wasn’t early morning—10th floor. It was inconvenient that there wasn’t an outlet near where the hairdryer is used. When I opened the window, other guests in a nearby room were being noisy, which was disturbing. Overall satisfied considering this price point.

    Everything was excellent.

    We used the free bus service from Sendai Station. Our group consisted of 6 adults and 2 children. From 3 PM, we enjoyed drinks and a variety of snacks in the lounge, which was very satisfying. The dinner buffet starting at 5:30 PM was absolutely delicious, offering Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes! The all-you-can-drink option included beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages with an impressive selection that left us amazed! We booked two rooms: one Japanese-style room and one Western-style room. In the Japanese-style room, we laid out our own futons; however, considering the price value, it was no issue at all. The onsen featured two open-air baths and a large public bath. Shampoo, body soap, facial foam wash were provided along with lotion and body cream for after-bath care—everything you could need! After enjoying the onsen, we returned to the lounge for more drinks. Although there wasn’t beer available in the evening lounge session, there were plenty of options like gin tonic or whiskey to enjoy in a fantastic atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was also delicious with so many choices that it was hard to decide what to eat! They even had smoothies available. We definitely want to stay here again—we’ve already made another reservation for February!

    First Trip with Your Dog

    There were almost no hotels in Miyagi Prefecture that allowed medium-sized dogs, so although it was a bit far from our destination, we stayed at this hotel for a Multiple Night Stay. Our room was on the 8th floor, so moving with the crate on a cart was slightly inconvenient. It would have been easier if there had been direct access to outdoor stairs from lower floors. The meals were buffet-style with unlimited servings of the same menu, and we were always full, so having meals included might have been necessary for just one night. We also brought along our 1-year-old child, and there were two types of baby food jars available: one for 7 months old and another for 10 months old. However, there weren’t any suitable side dishes at night, so we fed them food we had brought ourselves. The room is part of an older hotel and felt dated overall but was properly cleaned. Since it’s a shoes-on indoor space, it wasn’t very relaxing with children touching everything; having mats laid out throughout would be appreciated in such cases. Check-in was crowded due to being the last day of a holiday period, but all staff members were kind and helpful.

    We enjoyed our stay without encountering any bears!

    Despite reports of bear sightings in various areas, we were able to enjoy our stay with our dog without any encounters. The cheerful and friendly staff, the relaxing Onsen, and the wide variety of dishes at the buffet were all very satisfying. The alcohol service in the lounge at night offered a great selection and was excellent. However, it would be even better if coffee or tea could be served in the morning along with newspapers for a more enjoyable experience. We hope you will consider this suggestion.

    We were lucky to encounter a surprise.

    I was looking for a good hotel where I could stay alone for one night with breakfast and dinner included as a reward for my birthday, and I had a hard time finding one. Then, I came across the Mercure Miyagi Zao Resort & Spa Hotel. It’s not a complaint, but it’s really difficult to find accommodations in the Tohoku region that offer breakfast and dinner for solo travelers. Most places either don’t include meals or only offer breakfast, and if you do find one, the price is often very high. At Mercure Miyagi Zao Resort & Spa Hotel, there was an available single room, so I immediately made a reservation and waited eagerly for the day to come. On the day of my stay, I arrived at the hotel early and thought about exploring nearby areas. However, due to recent bear sightings in the area, I decided to wait in my car until 30 minutes before check-in time when I went to reception. I was surprised by the variety of welcome drinks and snacks available at check-in—including alcoholic beverages! The lobby was spacious with a large garden where children were playing soccer. Now back to my experience—the room assigned to me turned out to be a twin room instead of a single! As soon as I entered, I felt amazed by how spacious it was. Based on other reviews I'd read beforehand, it seemed like they might have upgraded me to this larger room through their website—something I'm truly grateful for during my stay. Although the system bath in my room showed signs of age over time—it didn’t bother me since there’s access provided instead toward their large public bath facilities onsite. Everywhere from hallways leading up towards guest rooms down into recreational spaces such as game centers remained impressively clean throughout; this level attention cleanliness left lasting impressions upon myself personally! Another highlight worth mentioning would undoubtedly involve buffet-style dining offered during evening hours: dishes served exceeded expectations both visually taste-wise alike while fresh vegetables stood out particularly well-prepared alongside wide-ranging drink options spanning freshly squeezed juices beer sake tea coffee etc., all without any imposed time limits allowing guests enjoy leisurely pace meal experiences overall!     I want to visit again.

    I chose this room after seeing less favorable reviews for the Classic Twin, and I’m glad I did. I also liked that there weren’t excessive amenities. I’d like to stay again next time, but my throat got dry, so I’d appreciate it if a humidifier could be provided. The sparkling wine, which is my favorite, was delicious. Thank you very much!

    Repeat stay.

    I have been using this facility about once a year since the Daiwa era. Since it became Mercure, the service, meals, and staff hospitality have improved significantly. I appreciate how they compensate for hardware shortcomings with lounge services and various activities. Here are two suggestions for future improvements: - The UCC coffee machine in the restaurant seems to serve instant coffee, but I would prefer drip coffee. - The public bath closes at 11 PM; since it's an Onsen facility, I would appreciate it if the hours could be extended by even 30 minutes.

    The 5th Mercure

    Good Points The view from the Room was excellent. Although it was rainy, we enjoyed a drive along the skyline before checking in. We stayed for two nights and frequently found ourselves gazing out the window during our stay. At night, we caught glimpses of a beautiful starry sky, and in the early morning, sunlight illuminated the mountain range with a rainbow—a truly memorable experience. However, there were some stains on the window; if it had been cleaner, the view would have been even more spectacular. The baths—both indoor and open-air—were clean and very relaxing to use. Disappointing Points The meals left an impression of being underwhelming compared to other places: - Pre-made burger buns and patties stacked up... - Sashimi served as small diced pieces rather than proper slices with only one type available. - Steak cut into cubes cooked in deep pans filled with juices... - Coffee that somehow didn’t taste good at all. - The rice dispenser tray was covered in grains of rice that staff didn’t clean up. - Morning pho at Mercure used to be something I looked forward to but wasn’t enjoyable this time... - Automatic pancakes were disappointing compared to freshly made ones on an iron plate elsewhere; even their taste fell short. These are personal impressions based on comparisons with other places I’ve visited but unfortunately felt like they ranked lowest among them all. What stood out positively compared to others: ○ The futon bedding in Japanese-style Rooms was excellent; unlike thin futons at other places. ○ The welcome lounge menu included vegetable chips and wakame stems—a thoughtful touch for those who don’t enjoy sweets. ○ The evening lounge offered sake and fruit liqueurs not commonly found elsewhere, which felt comforting. This is only my fifth comparison so far, so my sample size is limited—but these are my personal thoughts. I look forward to revisiting someday when improvements might be made while also enjoying what’s already great about this place again!

    Only one hand towel was provided in the bathroom for two guests.

    Great value for money and an enjoyable stay. The meals were surprisingly delicious, and the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. There was only one issue. We stayed in a suite room for two people, but there was only one towel in the bathroom. When we requested more towels, we were informed that additional charges would apply. These towels are used for purposes such as drying hands after washing or wiping your mouth after brushing teeth, so sharing is not ideal. It would have been better if there were enough towels provided for the number of guests, but it seems that is not part of their system. This was the only disappointing aspect of our stay. I hope this will be improved by our next visit as I look forward to staying again!

    Great value for money

    The cost-performance ratio is excellent, and I was very satisfied with the experience for this price. Meals and drinks incorporate local ingredients, with flavorful rice and vegetables that were delicious. However, it was inconvenient that there were few outlets near the bed; having an extension cord would be helpful. The dinner service also had poor flow and became crowded, so a distribution system similar to breakfast would improve the experience.

    Great value for money

    This price for an all-inclusive accommodation is surprising. The food might be as expected for the price, but it has the excitement typical of a buffet. The lounge and dining alcohol options are abundant and enjoyable. I think the cost performance is good. They even gave us cookies as souvenirs, which felt almost too generous. However, perhaps this is a downside of all-inclusive accommodations in this price range... It was disappointing to see groups of loud guests behaving like they were at an izakaya in both the dining area and during bar time at the lounge. Since it's a large-capacity accommodation, the onsen always had people present. While it may not align with the concept of this accommodation, I couldn't help but wish there were guest rooms with private onsens or paid private baths available.

    Spacious Onsen

    The onsen features an indoor bath with a spacious pool-like tub, allowing for a relaxing soak without bumping into others despite the crowd. Stayed on a Sunday, and it was extremely busy with long lines for check-in and meals. The waiting time was quite lengthy. Dinner included delicious "Imoni" stew, and breakfast featured tasty simmered Sendai fu (wheat gluten). It was nice to have local cuisine available. Stayed on the 6th floor, where the view of Mount Zao in the morning was beautiful. The room's safe seemed to be broken as its key had been removed and it couldn't be used. Opted for a Japanese-style room where guests were required to lay out their own futons; this provided privacy without staff entering frequently, which was appreciated. The lounge was also very crowded with no available seating. However, the Zao cheese served as a nightcap was delightful.

    Great value and excellent service!

    On the way to Aomori, we stayed here with our dog. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service. The meals, evening marshmallow roasting, popcorn, and cotton candy would be especially enjoyable for families with small children. Although I usually don't prefer buffet-style dining, the variety was impressive. It was worth more than the price paid. All drinks were complimentary as well. While it’s not entirely dog-first focused, the Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable to stay in. I would love to visit again if I have another opportunity!

    Affordable and satisfactory, but here are some concerns: 【Public Bath】 - Closing time at 11 PM is shorter compared to others, which is disappointing. - No clock inside the bath area (only in the dressing room). → It would be helpful to have a clock inside for those mindful of time. - Hairdryer seemed broken as it didn’t blow warm air. → Regular checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment are recommended. - Many hairs were found on the dressing room floor. → Increasing cleaning frequency might help improve hygiene. The lounge, dinner, and breakfast were generally satisfying considering the low price point; however, it was crowded. 【Lounge】 There were times when no seats were available, so I had to give up using it. Some drinks and snacks (like cheese) ran out quickly. → Staff presence was minimal, so restocking wasn’t immediate. 【Dinner & Breakfast】 Despite being divided into two sessions, the venue was overcrowded with people everywhere. Queuing for every item felt overwhelming; however, given the price point and smooth flow despite lines, I found it acceptable. 【Activities】 Short outdoor use only (on grass). Most rackets appeared broken or nearly unusable due to wear and tear—difficult to use properly! (laughs) → Frequent inspections and quicker replacement cycles would be appreciated for better usability.

    The bath is standard, but the meals were incredibly delicious no matter what we ate. Additionally, alcohol was included in the price, which was a pleasant surprise. I would love to stay here again.

    I have stayed here several times, and I think it would be very enjoyable for families with children during summer vacation, especially with dancers performing in the lounge. I was able to relax and fully enjoy the food, drinks, and desserts. I love the scent of the amenities; it would be great if they were available for purchase.

    A Hotel You'll Want to Visit Again!

    Thank you very much! Staying at the Hotel surrounded by nature was truly rejuvenating for both body and mind! The Facility was convenient, and the all-in-one service was greatly appreciated and reasonably priced! It’s wonderful to enjoy delicious drinks in the lounge while chatting after meals. Families with children would find it even more enjoyable! I’d love to visit again to fully experience the beauty of Zao’s nature!

    We stayed as a group of three, including my mother and daughter.

    The building, Room, and Facility have been renovated but are still old. The ceiling stains were a bit concerning, but with a one-night stay including two meals, champagne available from check-in until 10 PM after dinner, and snacks provided, it felt sufficient. Even my mother and I, who usually don't drink alcohol, had a little and found it delicious. The Zao cheese was also tasty. All this for just over 10,000 yen is appreciated.

    I wanted to have cof...

    I wanted to have coffee in the room, but there was only tea, which was disappointing. The Onsen had a strong disinfectant smell. Having only free-size yukata is inconvenient. Mine dragged on the floor, and his was too short. It would be better to have different sizes available.

    The meals were excellent.

    Stayed for a Zao mountain climbing trip with check-in at 15:30 and check-out at 10:00. The all-inclusive service was very satisfying, but it would have been even better if lounge usage times were provided in advance. The meals, room, and service were excellent. The front desk staff was friendly, but due to limited personnel, even simple procedures took time, which was unfortunate. Simplified processes like online check-in would be appreciated. Being an Onsen facility, it might be unavoidable, but the bath glass panels, frames, and washing area appeared stained with white Onsen deposits? It would feel cleaner if these areas were thoroughly maintained. Overall, it was a satisfying experience and I can recommend this accommodation.

    I will use Mercure again.

    The all-inclusive experience was great. I made the Reservation for 5 PM arrival as the website mentioned beer and sparkling wine available from 2 PM to 6 PM. When I checked in around 5:10 PM after enjoying the nice weather and visiting Okama, I was informed that beer service ended at 5 PM but would be available during dinner. I was a bit disappointed as I wanted to have a light drink before taking a bath. The Room, meals, drinks, and pool were excellent overall. At night, when I opened the window to look at the stars, there were spider webs which might help with insect prevention but felt slightly disappointing too. It was lively with many children during the last summer holiday weekend, and although parking was full, it added to an enjoyable atmosphere!

    First family stay

    This was our first visit to Miyagi as a family. We were surprised by the 30-minute wait at check-in. Overall, apart from the restaurant, the staff seemed inexperienced in their service. There was no cleaning request sign in the Room, making it difficult to request housekeeping. Although we called the front desk for assistance, it took some time to get through. The meals in the morning and evening were delicious, and our children enjoyed them as well. With a pool and play areas for kids, it’s a great place for families to relax. We would consider staying here again if we have another opportunity.

    Stayed during the summer vacation in August.

    I stayed with my elementary school daughter in late August. The price was affordable, so overall, I was satisfied. The pool access, all-you-can-drink alcohol at the lounge, and even during dinner were included in the price. Usually, all-you-can-drink is charged separately, so having it included at this price felt like a great deal. However, I felt that dinner was more suited for those who want to eat a lot on a budget. The fries were cold and hard, but the burger tasted good even when cold. For breakfast, I was happy to see fish, grated yam (tororo), and mekabu available. What surprised me a bit was the long line for breakfast check-in and no available seats to eat; people in line had to wait for seats to open up. (I had heard rumors about long lines during check-in...) I've experienced crowded Ryokans before but never encountered a situation where there were no seats available for dining. Staff members near seated guests would comment things like "Oh, they're still eating here; we can't clear this table yet!" which made us feel uneasy while eating our meal. Since you likely know how many guests with meals are staying at your accommodation, it might be better to prepare additional temporary tables or chairs if needed so that such situations don’t occur again. Also, rushing people who are eating is not ideal either. This part left me slightly surprised and disappointed—so I hope improvements can be made moving forward!
