    I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay.

    This time I took the Shinkansen to Sendai and used the free Shuttle Service bus from Sendai Station for a round trip. After arriving, I had a beer, and at dinner I ate and drank as well. I also got to use the pool, so I was very satisfied. Since I was traveling alone, my Room was a single and felt a bit small, but next time I'd like to go with friends and try staying in a larger Room. I'd like to visit again.

    A Convenient Stopover for Your Homecoming

    When we drive from Kanagawa back to Akita, not staying overnight would be stressful for the whole family, but there are very few hotels that can meet our needs (kids, dog, pool), so we stay here every year. Right after the rebrand it was extremely crowded and we had many complaints, but it has improved every year. We were told there would be 800 guests on our stay date and were nervous, but we were able to enjoy a fun, stress-free stay. The operations are excellent! The facilities are old, but acceptable. Unfortunately it rained so we couldn’t play outside, and the pool was very crowded. (We found a local public pool nearby and enjoyed that.) We will visit again.

    Could you please replace the tatami mats?

    The tatami mats were worn out, and when I sat directly on them, a lot of tatami straw stuck to my clothes.

    The Accommodation itself isn’t bad, but there are just far too many people. I don’t think I’d stay again.

    The lounge had a great atmosphere.

    The Zao cheese served in the lounge was delicious, and the table setting was lovely. The buffet offered a wide variety of options and was enjoyable.

    We had another wonderful stay.

    We stayed in a Junior Suite with the same two families as last time (May), and it turned out to be exactly the same Room. Next time, we’d like a different Room. We were very satisfied with both the Onsen and the buffet. It was crowded due to summer vacation, but that was unavoidable. We’ll discuss our next stay again with the two families. Thank you, and we look forward to staying again.

    This summer trip was a Mercure hotel-hopping drive. It was my first time traveling in Tohoku, and the time at Mercure was just as enjoyable as the sights we visited. The meals were especially impressive—such a wide variety that it felt like Disneyland, and I even got the sense they were saying, “If you can’t finish everything, please come back next time.” Thanks to Mercure, I was able to discover and enjoy many local specialty dishes, which I truly appreciate. The Onsen was spacious, and the changing area was clean as well. Among the Mercure properties I’ve stayed at, this one offered top-class service. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

    I was satisfied.

    I couldn’t believe the price at first, but I trusted a family member’s review since they had stayed here before and booked it as a trial. In the end, I was satisfied and would like to stay again if I have the chance.

    Once you arrive, your luxurious getaway begins.

    We stayed here for the first time last year with my daughter’s family (five of us) and had such a wonderful experience that we returned again this year. Last year was in autumn, so we couldn’t use the pool, but this time we made a Reservation for the day our grandchildren started their summer vacation so we could enjoy the pool as well. From the welcome drinks (including alcohol) on arrival to the dinner buffet with a wide variety of international dishes, our growing grandchildren were very satisfied. Of course, the adults also enjoyed a luxurious time while savoring all kinds of alcoholic beverages. This year there seemed to be fewer Chinese guests, which made it feel even more relaxing. Our grandchildren say they want to come every year, so we would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    Enjoy an all-inclusive stay!

    From arrival to departure, we fully enjoyed the all-inclusive experience. After checking in from the hot outdoors, the beer we had right away in the lounge was amazing. Dinner was a relaxing time with international cuisine and delicious drinks. The Onsen features two large open-air baths, perfect for unwinding. After dinner, the lounge offers sake, shochu, and local cream cheese. Breakfast also had such a wide variety that we ended up eating until we were full again. This is a Hotel you’ll want to visit again.

    This is our repeat visit to Yamagata!

    I visited Sendai in May and came back this time for a repeat trip to Yamagata! I enjoyed cherry picking and a Yonezawa beef yakiniku lunch, among other things. Unfortunately, the fog was very thick, so I gave up on visiting Okama and headed to the Hotel. Last time I stayed, I learned that the lounge opens from 2:30 PM before check-in, so I checked in early and toasted with draft beer!!! After that, I took a bath and was able to relax comfortably. The hinoki bath in particular smelled wonderful and was amazing! Sauna → cold bath, then headed to dinner feeling perfectly refreshed. There was a great variety of options, especially several kinds of sake, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The only disappointment was that the ramen soup at the end of dinner was slightly bland, but when I tried it again at breakfast it was back to being delicious, so I was very satisfied! I also enjoyed the evening lounge with whiskey in hand along with Zao cheese & crackers. For those planning to go: entering from the Yamagata side involves quite a tough route with lots of climbing and descending. From the Sendai side there isn’t as much up-and-down and it felt easier, so I wanted to share that tip. Overall, my satisfaction level was very high, and if I travel to Tohoku again I will definitely return. Thank you again in advance when that time comes!

    So glad we came!

    Upon arriving at the Hotel, a welcome drink was waiting in the lounge. There were light snacks and a great selection of alcohol. Even at dinner, there was an impressive amount of alcohol, and the variety of dishes was extensive—I was very satisfied. The bath was also relaxing and felt wonderful. The only downside was that the slippers in the single room were hard to find. They were in the closet, but they blended in and I couldn’t spot them. I wish they had been placed somewhere more noticeable, like near the towel rack or luggage stand. That’s about it—I’d love to visit again!

    It’s really great!

    I used this hotel as a base for sightseeing in Miyagi. Having stayed at other Mercure properties and knowing their quality, I booked two nights with the same expectations—and was not disappointed. The breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious and filling, and the finishing ramen was also excellent—very satisfying! After that, I headed to the lounge; there was a great variety of drinks, which I really enjoyed. The Zao cheese and crackers as snacks were another highlight. The bath was also very relaxing—extremely satisfying overall! Next time I’ll use it as a base for sightseeing in Yamagata, so I’ll leave another Review then!

    The meals were disappointing.

    I’ve stayed here several times. I visited looking forward to the buffet changes starting in April, but while it may look appealing, I didn’t find any of the dishes particularly tasty. I preferred the previous buffet. Since many guests are older families, I hope you can offer a fuller selection of more standard menu items.

    This is one of the Hotels I would like to visit again.

    After arriving, we took a short break in the lounge before going to our Room. The Onsen was clean and spacious, and we were able to relax thoroughly. The meals were delicious international cuisine. The evening lounge was also excellent, and we enjoyed after-bath beer and more. I traveled with my elderly mother, and she says she would like to visit again.

    The all-inclusive package is excellent.

    All-inclusive has become my standard for choosing where to stay—I can’t imagine anything else now. The lounge and the dinner buffet were excellent. The Room was spacious and I was very satisfied. A downside was that the yukata had no pockets. I also didn’t like the odd outer jacket. Another negative point was that there was no guide to the Facility inside the Room. Still, we had a wonderful time, and I’d definitely like to stay again.

    About a year ago, after I started keeping a dog, my travel style changed and I now stay only at pet-friendly Hotels.<br> Since Mercure offers pet-friendly Rooms and has locations throughout the whole country, this was my fourth stay at one of their Accommodations.<br> The age of the building can’t be helped, but I was shocked at how dirty the temporary flooring provided for pets in the Room was.<br> I wiped it with the wet wipes provided, and they turned pitch-black…<br> Since shoes are allowed indoors, some dirt is unavoidable, but I hesitated to let my dog sleep there.<br><br> At the buffet as well, there was no ketchup refilled for the omurice, so it ended up being omurice without ketchup.<br> There were a few things here and there that concerned me, but I think it offers good value for money.<br><br> I was disappointed that the IKYU Diamond benefit souvenir was cookies that were neither from Zao nor Miyagi and weren’t even sold in the on-site gift shop (at other Mercure properties, I was happy to receive a local souvenir), but since we could stay at a reasonable price and enjoy drinks as well, overall I think it’s a good Accommodation.

    A Long Journey with My Wife

    It’s a very large Hotel set in nature. In the lounge, you can enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks, and even in the colorful dining venue with a wide variety of dishes, complimentary drinks are also available—so much so that you may forget whether you came to eat or to drink. After relaxing in the large public bath and soaking in the Onsen, you can sleep soundly. I was able to unwind while enjoying views of the mountain range from my Room. I’d love to stay again if I have the chance.

    More than expected

    On the recommendation of a friend who lives in Sendai, I quickly booked a flight and stayed here. The hot springs, meals, and hospitality in the lobby were all excellent—I was very satisfied. However, while I appreciated being able to go to dinner at any time, the busiest time slot was crowded, and it was hard to get a seat or reach the food at the buffet. If possible, I hope group guests could be assigned staggered dining times (two or three seatings).

    Rich in content

    It has been about two years since the management changed, and I am amazed at how much the Accommodation has improved. Families with children are all happily enjoying their stay, and every department’s staff, as well as the baths and Rooms, are all very well maintained and fully equipped.

    I felt refreshed.

    The complimentary drink service in the lounge, including alcoholic beverages after check-in and dinner, was a nice touch. The meals were also excellent—being in Zao, the bread with butter and cheese was especially delicious. The Onsen was clean, and the water temperature was just right. I would love to visit again.

    Relax and unwind.

    We chose a Japanese-style Room. It doesn’t feel brand-new like in the photos, but it’s spacious and comfortable for relaxing. Since it’s all-inclusive, you won’t have trouble finding something to eat. Breakfast and dinner are buffet-style with a wide variety of dishes, plus plenty of soft drinks and alcohol. It does get crowded, but there weren’t any huge lines for food choices, which was nice. The lounge is… not quite what you’d call a lounge. There’s a good selection of beer, wine, and other drinks, but the snacks feel limited. I was expecting light bites like salads or sandwiches, but there were only packaged nuts, chocolate pebbles, marshmallows, and mini crackers; the next day they were replaced with stem wakame seaweed and mini cookies. The Shuttle Service bus for the snow monster tour was hard to find. Since we had booked the snow monster Plan, I wish we had been informed of the bus schedule. If I have the chance, I’ll visit again.

    Birthday Trip

    It was a birthday trip, and my spouse, our dog, and I had a wonderful two days. We enjoyed the all-you-can-drink before dinner and the drinks in the lounge after our meal. It was great, and we had fun at Dog Land. I traveled while battling cancer, and I don’t know how long I have left, but if we have another chance, I would definitely like to come again with my family.

    Meals

    Compared with my previous stay, the number and quality of the dining options had declined. Because it was good last time, I brought my whole family this time, but my son said it ranked in his “worst three meals,” which was extremely disappointing. We also received a phone call right before arrival saying the men’s open-air bath was unavailable due to construction. Since we had made our Reservation well in advance, we didn’t check the website. I wish they had considered alternatives such as rotating access. The Hotel staff were matter-of-fact and cool. With many inbound guests, the atmosphere also felt unsettled. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning for a third visit. I had been thinking about visiting other Mercure properties as well, but I’ve decided not to.

    Since I can’t drive,...

    Since I can’t drive, the Shuttle Service from Sendai Station was very appealing (it was free because I made a Reservation early). The snow monster sightseeing was also easy to enjoy with the Hotel as a base, so I didn’t get lost. The Onsen was comfortable, with a temperature that allowed me to soak and relax. When the season changes, I’d like to visit Okama Crater.

    This was my third Me...

    This was my third Mercure stay. Miyagi Zao is about an hour from Sendai by express bus—farther than expected (Togatta). They upgraded my Room, and it had a great view with Mt. Zao spread out right in front of me. The washbasin faucet was a bit unusual to use, but I got used to it quickly. The amenity comb used to be wooden at other Mercure Hotels, but here it was plastic, and the razor handle had also changed from wood to plastic—slightly disappointing. For meals, if you like alcohol, you’ll probably enjoy the wide variety of drinks available with unlimited refills. Unfortunately, many of the dishes seemed to be standard across the group’s Hotels, so I didn’t feel much that was unique to Miyagi Zao. When the evening lounge was closing, it left an impression that the staff suggested taking drinks back to the Room.

    We had a great time.

    We stayed at the Hotel for a family trip with two elementary school children and a preschooler. The draft beer in the lounge was a delightful touch! There were two types of servers, Asahi and Kirin, which was also a great service. The dinner afterward was delicious, and we ended up eating too much. In the second round at the lounge, there was Zao cheese available, but unfortunately, we were too full to try it. The Onsen was very relaxing and warmed us up nicely. The next morning, we enjoyed a snow-viewing bath, which became a wonderful memory. At night, there was an event in the courtyard with roasted marshmallows by the fire pit that thrilled our kids. The starry sky was also beautiful. We stayed in a Japanese-style Room where we laid out our own futons. Some parts of the floor felt slightly uneven or sunken but did not cause any issues during our stay. It’s definitely a Hotel we'd love to visit again!
