I’m glad I stayed here.
Thank you for taking care of us during our stay. We live about 30 minutes away by car, but chose to stay because this Accommodation offers an all-inclusive plan. As soon as we checked in, we enjoyed beer and other drinks in the lounge. Dinner was delicious across the board—the Munakata beef steak was excellent, and we also enjoyed the sashimi. The entire building smelled wonderful and was very well cleaned. However, it felt like there were not many options that my grandchild could eat. We had a relaxing time and were glad we stayed. We will be back in June with friends.

All-inclusive
I stayed at Mercure Munakata. The meals were buffet-style with a wide variety of options, and everything was delicious—I was very satisfied. I ended up eating more than I should. The building is from the former Genkai Royal, so it does feel a bit dated, but in return it has a spacious layout, and I was able to stay comfortably in a relaxed atmosphere. Another great point is being able to enjoy alcoholic drinks with the all-inclusive plan right after check-in, which made my stay very relaxing. However, during the evening bar time, sparkling wine and beer are not served, so knowing that in advance will help you enjoy it even more. The Onsen was also wonderful, and overall this is a Hotel I would recommend for anyone who wants to take it easy and unwind.

Amazing value for money! However, the room could be cleaner.
I’ve stayed at Mercure in Beppu and Tottori before, and it offers great value for money. The lounge and buffet quality are excellent with nothing to complain about. This time, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom at just the right moment, and it was wonderful to see the illuminated blossoms at night even from the open-air bath. I also enjoyed the limited three-day Night Sakura BAR, which was fantastic (the bartender’s hospitality was lovely as well). Overall, my satisfaction was high, but if I may offer some candid feedback, there were three disappointing points. 1) About the Room: Regarding the slippers, they seemed to be reused. After getting out of the bath, I noticed an unpleasant smell… and it turned out to be from the slippers. My husband’s pair smelled as well, so I wondered if they hadn’t been properly cleaned (even the spare bath slippers smelled). It would be great to have disposable slippers or non-fabric slippers. Also, there were two sofas in the Room; one had severe dark staining in certain areas and looked too dirty to sit on. I think it would be better to remove it. 2) Staff movement during breakfast: Some older staff members repeatedly blocked traffic flow, and I almost bumped into them several times. Some younger staff—perhaps temporary workers—were also rushing carts through as if competing for space, so guests had to step aside carefully. This didn’t bother me at dinner time, so it was a bit disappointing. 3) Noise during cleaning: While relaxing in my Room until checkout time, loud thumping noises continued for a long time. (When returning to my Room area later on, nearby Rooms were already being cleaned.) I understand housekeeping needs to work efficiently, but I wanted a calmer atmosphere. I would like to visit again, so I would appreciate it if these points could be improved.

Staying with my grandchild, just the two of us.
As we did last year, I stayed here again with my grandchild who came from Tokyo. We both love alcohol, so we were very happy to be able to enjoy a wide variety of drinks. I have stayed here many times since the Genkai Royal Hotel days, and since it became Mercure, the food has improved and there is even more to look forward to.\nI was also looking forward to the open-air bath, as it’s easy to enjoy in this season. However, this time only, the water was too hot for me to relax, which was disappointing. I had hoped to soak in a milder temperature and fully enjoy both the warmth of the water and the refreshing air—that was my only regret.\nStill, it remains a Hotel I want to visit again. I would like to continue staying here in the future!

Although it’s close ...
Although it’s close to home for us, it offers great value for money, and just as the reviews said, the meals, baths, and lounge were all excellent. We were able to relax thoroughly from check-in to check-out. From now on, we’ll probably come about once a month to unwind and stop by the Munakata Roadside Station on the way back. The only downside was that we couldn’t adjust the Room air conditioning properly, so it was a bit warm. If Netflix or YouTube were available in the future, it would be perfect!

Not relaxing.
At check-in, we were charged JPY 4,000 for breakfast and dinner for our 3-year-old child, but this was not explained anywhere. This is far too expensive for four pieces of takoyaki. There was no place to sit in the lounge, and taking food back to the Room was also prohibited. The bath area was overcrowded, and there wasn’t even space to wash properly.

Wonderful Hotel
I have stayed here several times, and it is a wonderful Hotel that never disappoints. The sea view from the Room was beautiful, and with the nice weather, I was able to see the sunrise and start the day in a lovely way. There was a wide variety of delicious food, and I ended up eating too much. The serving counters were frequently wiped down by the staff, which made everything feel very clean. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The meals were excellent. The staff were friendly and made a great impression overall.
The complimentary drinks after check-in (including soft drinks and alcoholic beverages such as beer and champagne) lifted the mood for both me and my companion, and we started our stay in great spirits. At the dinner buffet that followed, we enjoyed a wide variety of excellent dishes made with colorful local ingredients—meat, fish, vegetables, and more—outstanding in both quality and flavor. The complimentary drinks selection was generous, and the desserts were plentiful as well. From the front desk staff to the restaurant team, everyone’s “we’ll do our very best to welcome you” attitude came through in their pleasant service, which left a great impression. Sunday morning breakfast was even busier; despite the crowds, both the quality and variety of dishes were abundant. Popular items ran low soon after being served, but we timed it well and enjoyed everything. In terms of facilities, it felt like a Resort Hotel-style building likely constructed during more prosperous times—solidly built and reassuring. From higher floors there are refreshing views of both the sea and the mountains. The guest rooms did not seem to have undergone major renovations individually, but even with three adults sharing one room there was plenty of space, making for a comfortable stay. The large public bath seemed to prioritize hygiene management, so it was harder to appreciate any special qualities of the water; those visiting mainly for an Onsen may find it a bit lacking. However, the hot water (tap water) in the in-room unit bath felt soft on the skin, and my companion seemed satisfied with bathing in our room. With accommodation costs rising across The whole country, this Accommodation offered excellent value for money considering both its meals and service. I would like to return when I have another opportunity. Thank you very much.

Thoughts from My First Stay in a While
This was my fifth stay. This time, after not staying for a while, I’d like to share what I noticed. I recall it started about two years ago as Mercure Munakata. 1. Improvements The snacks served during the lounge service from 9:00 PM have improved. 2. Things I noticed - There seems to be built-up body oil residue on the bath buckets. I checked several and they were in similar condition. It appears to be something that has accumulated over the past two years and cannot be removed with regular cleaning. - In the women’s bath, the shower temperature is unstable and sometimes suddenly becomes very hot. Cleaning in the lobby and Room was thorough and excellent. I hope you will continue striving to be a comfortable Hotel. I plan to stay again in April.

Dinner offered a goo...
Dinner offered a good variety, and the sashimi and shrimp in chili sauce were delicious. The Munakata beef was fairly tender, but toward the end it felt hard to bite through. The Strawberry Fair did have strawberry sweets, but it didn’t really feel like I was eating strawberries. It was nice that the male staff member near the cotton candy station was smiling. For breakfast, I arrived 15 minutes before opening and there were already 7–8 groups in line. Once it started, it was extremely crowded and I could hardly get what I wanted, but after about 30 minutes it thinned out a bit. The selection and taste were average to slightly above average. The lounge was quite busy, but I enjoyed the drinks and snacks. Personally, the akamoku rice crackers were very tasty. The bath was standard—neither small nor large. Water dispensers and water bottles were available on each floor, which was very convenient. No one else was using the table tennis area, so my family could enjoy it without worrying about others. The Room facilities feel dated. The shower pressure was weak, and it often suddenly turned cold. It was nice to have an ocean view. One more thing: I’ll skip the details, but when I called in advance with a question, the response wasn’t great. Because of that, instead of feeling excited before going, I regrettably felt more worried about having an unpleasant experience during my stay.

Support
The front desk staff’s service was disappointing. I arrived at 2:00 PM, but they were unfriendly and kept me waiting. Even though early check-in was available, they didn’t seem to know and told me to wait until the 3:00 PM check-in time. When I asked if early check-in was possible, they checked (I assume) and then confirmed it was available, so I was able to check in early. I’d like them to be better informed and handle check-in more smoothly. The Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The free lounge was also nice. It would be great if there were an ice machine on every floor. Since I stayed on a higher floor, I had to go all the way down, which was a bit inconvenient. This time I didn’t add breakfast or dinner, so I can’t comment on them, but if I stay again next time, I’d like to try them.

I had a comfortable vacation.
This was my first time staying here. The room was spacious, and I was able to relax at ease. The view from the window was wonderful, with the sea as well as Jinoshima Island and Tsurigane-no-Misaki Cape visible. The open-air bath, sauna, and large public bath were not crowded, so I could enjoy them slowly both at night and in the morning. The lounge access service offered a great selection of drinks and snacks, which my husband especially enjoyed. I would like to stay again. I gave it 4 points because it would be even better if the in-room amenities (razor, cleansing products) were more fully stocked.

The food was delicious.
I previously stayed here for business. Since the hotel changed its name, this was my first stay for personal use. I booked a Plan with breakfast and dinner included. Both meals were buffet-style, with a wide variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. The sashimi was fresh, and everything was very delicious. Because the food was so good, I felt the dining area was a bit cramped. Since it was a buffet, the space between tables was narrow when going to get food, so it was sometimes hard to pass through and I had to take detours, which was slightly inconvenient. Other than that, the staff provided excellent service.

Vacation with Your Grandchildren
Last time, when my daughter who lives in the Kanto area visited Fukuoka to see the World Heritage site “Sacred Island of Okinoshima and Associated Sites in the Munakata Region,” including Munakata Taisha Shrine, we stayed at your Accommodation (Mercure Fukuoka Munakata Resort & Spa) and were very satisfied. This time, my grandchild visited Fukuoka before graduating from junior college and starting work, so we chose to stay again. We would like to use your Accommodation again if we have the opportunity. Thank you for the warm hospitality from the front desk staff and all employees.

It was disappointing that there were no cotton swabs among the bathroom amenities. As for dinner... I think the way you expanded the dining area to accommodate guests was excellent.

Great value for money
It was a good-value Hotel. The Onsen was average and fairly crowded. Maybe because I stayed on a weekday, it felt like more than 80% of the guests were over 70, and I got the impression this is a Hotel loved by seniors. I had both dinner and breakfast from the buffet, and they were delicious.

I was satisfied.
The meals were of a quality that fully met our expectations, and we were able to relax and enjoy the bath as well—there was nothing to complain about. If possible, it would be appreciated if men’s toiletries could be provided in the men’s bath. We were also able to use the tennis courts free of charge and had a very fulfilling time. If I may ask for one more thing, I would be happy if the tennis courts could be better maintained. One disappointing point: the lace curtain in the elevator hall was left with a large tear. I hope for more attentive upkeep.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and the food was delicious. It was the best.
Thank you for the sweets and message as a Diamond member. The Onsen was the perfect temperature even on a cold day, and it warmed me up. This was my first solo trip to Munakata City. The magnificent mountain right in front of me, and the moon and stars I could see from the open-air bath—those priceless views soothed me, and I was able to truly relax. At the breakfast buffet, all the staff spoke to me kindly, so I could enjoy the buffet even on my own! At the alcohol lounge, I wasn’t quite sure how to make the drinks, so I just enjoyed the atmosphere. For those who like alcohol, I think it feels like a great value since you can drink plenty. The Shuttle Service from the station was also very kind, and I really appreciated it. Thank you for helping me make such wonderful memories. I will stay again. Thank you very much.

That's unfortunate.
- During check-in, it was noisy around, so it would be helpful if you could speak in a louder voice. - For dinner, we were informed that 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM would be less crowded, so we went at that time. However, it was very crowded and we had to wait. The only available seating was in a lounge far from the room where the food was served. We were given the choice to either move or wait longer. Since waiting would reduce our dining time, we chose to use the lounge but were asked around 8:30 PM to vacate as the lounge would be used from 9:00 PM onwards. We carried our food midway and moved to another room ourselves; however, no table suitable for our group size had been set up there. This gave an impression of poor coordination among staff and lack of consideration. - If dinner is expected to be crowded, implementing a two-shift system or setting time limits might help improve the experience. - The Room's air conditioning was difficult to adjust and Wi-Fi connectivity was poor. - While both dinner and breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious dishes which were satisfying, other aspects need improvement.

The strawberry fair ...
The strawberry fair has started, and we were looking forward to it as my grandchild loves strawberries. However, there was only strawberry jam available, which was disappointing! The description and photos made it seem like they were homegrown. Please don't raise expectations unnecessarily. The meat was delicious though.

The staff's service is excellent.

Generally satisfied
We stayed in a Japanese-Western style Room, but the family members who slept in the Japanese-style area complained about back pain from the thin futon. A mattress would have been appreciated. The public bath was pleasant with clean changing rooms and rest areas, but the simple game corner that used to be outside the bath was gone, leaving children disappointed and bored. It would be nice to have more activities for kids. Nowadays, it's common to watch YouTube or similar services on the room TV, but this feature was not available, which was inconvenient. The meals and drinks were excellent and very satisfying. However, it was disappointing that alcohol wasn't sold in vending machines and that the shop had limited hours of operation, making it difficult to purchase drinks for enjoying in the Room. I hope some improvements will be made by our next visit.

We stayed here for our 22nd wedding anniversary trip. Munakata City holds a special place in my heart as I lived there until the 6th grade, and it was incredibly nostalgic. This hotel exceeded my expectations with its grandeur and comfort, making our stay truly enjoyable. The welcome drink at the lounge and the dinner buffet were all delicious and thoughtfully prepared, with a wide selection of local sake. My favorite was the chilled Okinoshima sake from Katsuya Brewery, which was exceptionally delightful. Although the hotel was crowded with many guests, and our seating for dinner was in a separate room that felt a bit far away... it made me realize just how popular this place is! After breakfast the next morning, we were able to see Asagimadara butterflies in the courtyard. Seeing them up close was breathtakingly beautiful and elegant—it left us deeply moved. I’m so glad we came! I’ve been recommending this accommodation to friends and acquaintances around me. Wishing continued success for this wonderful hotel!

This was my second stay. As before, the food and drinks were plentiful and delicious. Although the buffet style can get very crowded, it was just lively enough for a family trip with kids. The bath was clean and comfortable as well. For those planning to visit during New Year's: We arrived at the hotel around 3:30 PM, and the front desk was busy as expected. However, due to the New Year's period, restaurant dining times were scheduled in advance, and only slots starting from 8:30 PM were available for dinner by then. Since we had elementary and middle school-aged children, we could pass time in the lounge, but families with younger children seemed to have a harder time waiting. We stayed on the 7th floor, but during meal times or check-out hours, the elevators were extremely crowded—so much so that we couldn't get on despite waiting multiple times. Feeling sorry for those with strollers or elderly guests waiting alongside us, we decided to take the emergency stairs down instead. However, they led us out into a lounge area near the large public bath where slippers weren't allowed—making our exit quite awkward! In hindsight, it would have been better to plan ahead when using elevators during peak hours. Despite these points mentioned above—great value for money! We were very satisfied overall. Thank you!

Great value for money
This was my first stay. The lounge snacks, Munakata beef, and all the buffet dishes were very delicious and satisfying! The Onsen was also very relaxing! The Room was a bit hot even with the heater off, which made it slightly uncomfortable to sleep, but other than that, I think the value for money is excellent!

The room has limited power outlets, so it would be great if more could be added. During busy hours, the elevator stops at every floor, making it hard to get on and taking up a lot of time (perhaps adjusting the timing might help). The bathroom in the Onsen area had only one toilet; having about three would be more convenient. The Onsen includes indoor baths, outdoor baths, and a sauna, allowing for a relaxing experience. There are plenty of water stations on each floor and other areas, which was very convenient for staying hydrated anytime. The staff were quick to respond whenever needed. The buffet offered a wide variety of dishes and was incredibly delicious! Since there can be some waiting or decision-making time while choosing food during busy periods, it's good to keep an eye on the clock to ensure you finish eating in time. Staff kindly give reminders about 15 minutes before closing. I’d love to visit other Mercure locations as well!

Stay at Mercure Fukuoka Munakata.
Stayed for one night from December 27th with a family of three. The room was on the 12th floor, very clean, and offered an amazing view. Meals were buffet-style with a wide variety of dishes and excellent flavors. However, due to the large number of guests, dining was divided into three groups by time slots, and all venues were fully packed. The bath area was spacious with great facilities like open-air baths and saunas; we used it three times but found it quite crowded. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay.
