Family Trip
This was our first trip with our grandchild under one year old. We had some concerns, but the Hotel was very child-friendly, providing a swing stroller in the dining area and a baby bath, etc. Thank you for your hospitality. We would like to stay again.

Making Memories with Your Grandchildren During Summer Vacation
We stayed with five people: my two grandchildren (5th grade and 2nd grade), my daughter, and my husband and me. When I visited with my husband in March, there were many tourists from Korea and Taiwan, and the dining area, large public bath, and relaxation room were lively—almost a bit overwhelming—so I wondered if it might be too much for a senior couple. However, I thought it could be great for bringing the grandchildren, so we came again for one night this time. The kids played in the pool and enjoyed the fireworks included in our Plan, making it their best summer vacation memory. The Room was spacious, the food was delicious, and the many desserts made my grandchildren very happy. I’d like to bring them again next year. The front desk team and all other staff provided excellent service, so we had a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much.

All-inclusive!
The Hotel staff were very kind, and I was extremely satisfied with the lounge drinks! I stayed with a two-meal plan, and both meals were delicious; the buffet presentation was beautiful, and it was fun to try dishes from many different countries! I’d love to stay again!

Obon Holiday Trip
I have stayed here several times, but this was my first visit during the Obon holiday. To avoid crowds, meal times were divided into three time slots, so I was able to enjoy a delicious buffet at a relaxed pace in a calm atmosphere. There were also thoughtful activities for children during the summer vacation season, and they looked like they were having fun. After returning home, I realized I had left something behind and contacted the Hotel right away; it was sent to me the next day. As always, the staff were courteous and wonderful. I will definitely stay again.

A Hotel with a Delicious Buffet
We stayed here for our first overnight trip as a family with our 1-year-old daughter. The buffet meals were delicious both in the morning and at night, and the Room was spacious, making it a great trip. The large public bath was also spacious and relaxing, but when we used the shower station at the very end, we noticed some fairly extensive mold on the ceiling. What concerned us most, however, was that there was an old smell throughout the entire building (separate from any fragrance). We personally felt that if all wallpaper—including in the Room—were replaced, the odor would likely be much less noticeable. Overall, we think the services are well provided. If we could ask for one thing, we would be happy if the large public bath were open until midnight. We would definitely like to use the restaurant again if we have another opportunity.

I’ll definitely stay here again.
It was a wonderful Hotel with nothing to fault, except that the yukata felt a bit stiff. If only there were a sign at the bus stop from Togo Station indicating where the Shuttle Service bus stops...

It was great.
The hotel had a slight overseas hotel scent, which made it very relaxing. The bed mattress was comfortable, and I slept very well. As an IKYU member, I also appreciated the extended checkout time. I would have liked a bit more information about Munakata Taisha Shrine and guidance on the surrounding area.

I was satisfied.
While some Facilities and walls show signs of age, and there are areas that are not in use, I was impressed by how well the property has been renovated and refreshed, with thoughtful improvements to enhance the quality of services such as the Onsen, meals, and lounge.

It was right in the ...
It was right in the middle of Golden Week, so the hotel was fully booked. I expected the buffet to be extremely crowded, so I chose a plan without meals. At dinner time, as expected, there was a huge line at the buffet venue. I didn’t think I’d be able to eat at a relaxed pace. Instead, I was able to enjoy sushi and seafood bought from nearby shops slowly in my Room. The large public bath was also packed like sardines, and I couldn’t relax at all. I had to stay during Golden Week for work, so it couldn’t be helped, but it really reminded me that if you want a quiet, relaxing stay, weekdays are best. Even so, the staff were working with smiles on their faces, which was wonderful.

Wonderful
Not only is the location great, but the food also offers excellent value for money—we enjoyed it more than the price would suggest. We’d love to come again if we have the chance!

The Incident That Happened During the Meal I Was Looking Forward to Most
At both the breakfast and dinner buffets, our seats were far too far from the food pickup area, which made moving back and forth very stressful. Carts for carrying trays were provided to help with this, but they were extremely wobbly and bounced a lot, so food frequently spilled while being transported. In particular, soup splashed onto my clothing, which was very disappointing. I have experienced many buffets before, but this was the first time I have had an experience like this. Other guests around us also seemed confused and troubled by similar issues. Although staff provided individual assistance in areas with poor footing, it felt like a temporary fix. Since the buffet is likely one of Mercure’s key highlights, I sincerely hope for fundamental improvements such as selecting more stable carts and redesigning the traffic flow.

Your First Visit to Munakata
I’ve just gotten home from the trip and I’m completely wiped out. Oops—our Accommodation Plan included lounge privileges… The futile feeling of walking to a convenience store in the pitch dark to buy food and drinks… It almost makes me want to shift the blame and say I wish the front desk staff had explained the system (though it was our own oversight—sorry). I get excited every time I receive IKYU’s occasional sale notifications, and I’ve been staying at various places. Looking forward to my next great-value trip, I’d like to take this mistake as a lesson. As for the Hotel: first of all, the toilet flush volume is far too low. It doesn’t flush easily, which is stressful. Sorry to say, but this is a major negative point. Also, it would be nice if there were drip coffee and bottled water in the Room. These days it feels rarer not to have them… On the other hand, the water dispenser was a much-appreciated service. The shower water pressure was excellent—I was very satisfied.

Amazing view
The Room is spacious and the view is excellent, but you can often hear people talking as they walk down the hallway, which is a slight drawback.

The staff’s service is outstanding!
Even during Golden Week, we received excellent hospitality. I’d love to stay at Mercure hotels in other prefectures as well. In Munakata, the sashimi and Munakata beef steak were especially outstanding. I’d like to visit again on a weekday.

This was my second stay!
I stayed here previously with two friends for a casual get-together, and the food was delicious, so I wanted to come again. This time, our family of seven stayed here. Just like last time, the meals were delicious and very satisfying. Since it was Golden Week, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the staff’s service at check-in and various measures such as designated dining times were well thought out and appreciated. Next time, I’d like to stay at a Mercure in a different prefecture. The only disappointment was that there was no coffee milk for sale after the bath—I’d love it if you could offer it.

About the cuisine
I stayed in October last year and the dinner buffet was excellent (something you can only experience at this Hotel). There was so much that I couldn’t finish it all. This time I came again looking forward to the food and drinks, but it was noticeably worse than before (the “Hotel-only” dishes), which was disappointing. The one thing that had improved significantly compared with last time was the desserts—they were wonderful. Also, I was looking forward to rice porridge at breakfast, but it had almost no rice grains and was more like thin rice water, which was disappointing.

Traumatizing level
I expected the building to be somewhat old since it was described as renovated, but I never imagined the Room would be that bad. It was so old and dirty that it felt less like a shock and more like something traumatic. The Room I was shown had a filthy sofa, outdated furnishings, and a worn-out bed. It felt like a bulky-waste dump, and I was scared to touch anything. The floor, walls, ceiling, curtains—none of it was acceptable. Only parts of the property seem to have been remodeled. I considered sleeping in my car, but since it’s a rural area that also felt unsafe... The front desk staff were kind, and the people in Munakata were friendly too, but it all ended up being ruined. I imagine cleaning is difficult as well—it's simply too old for cleaning alone to make it look clean. At the very least, you should post photos that reflect the reality more accurately.

Excellent operations
We stayed for a 3-night Multiple Night Stay during Golden Week. It was extremely busy: the number of guests having breakfast is usually around 350, but it was 550 on the first day and well over 700 on the third day. (The parking lot in the photo is from day one; from day two onward it was almost full. However, both the parking lot and the Hotel are large, so there were no issues like not being able to park or feeling overwhelmed by crowds. Depending on the time of day, using the elevators could be a bit challenging.) What stood out most was the excellent operation by all staff members. The gentleman at check-in explained everything carefully and kindly, and at dinner and breakfast we were smoothly guided to our table by reception staff (especially the woman at breakfast—she was outstanding). Even with heavy crowds, we were able to enjoy our time without stress. The food was delicious with a wide variety, and whenever dishes ran low they were replenished quickly, so even toward the end of service we could eat at a relaxed pace (including steak). Also, breakfast on the third day was changed to a three-time-slot system at short notice, and this flexible response worked perfectly. The Onsen had great water quality, and despite how many guests were staying there, if you chose your timing well you could relax comfortably both in the morning and in late afternoon (for example while other groups were away at dinner). It made us strongly want to stay again at another Mercure all-inclusive Hotel. For reference, here are a few points that would be nice to see improved: - Please disclose on your booking site that Room cleaning is not provided until the fourth night (mid-stay cleaning costs JPY 3,000). Trash can be left in the hallway in the morning for collection, and towels can be exchanged freely so it wasn’t inconvenient—but we only learned this at check-in and were a little surprised. If I simply missed it online I apologize; however, having it clearly stated would be helpful. - Serving food out into the corridor inside the restaurant was very effective for easing congestion. During peak periods when it gets truly crowded, there also seemed to be some open space (not seating) in the center of far-left back seating area where large tables are set up; perhaps food stations could also be placed there. - We really appreciated having draft beer servers. They are like those found in airport lounges; as airports do for hygiene reasons, you might consider posting a sign such as “Please use a new glass for refills.” (We saw some guests refilling using an empty glass.) - Since there are no pockets in indoor loungewear provided inside Accommodation , shelves where small items (Room key card / phone etc.) can be placed inside public restroom stalls would be helpful. It was an extremely satisfying stay. Thank you very much.

For those who want to enjoy a wide variety of dishes
Recommended for anyone who wants to refresh and fully enjoy Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine! The building itself feels a bit dated, but it has been nicely renovated and offers a spacious, comfortable atmosphere. The Onsen is not natural, but the water temperature is pleasant, and it’s convenient that you can check how crowded it is on your smartphone. Since it was a holiday, we expected it to be busy; even so, the greenery visible from the windows was soothing to the eyes, and with the sea nearby, this Hotel was perfect for relieving stress. We felt healed both physically and mentally.

I love the Mercure Group’s exclusive lounge. In Munakata, it’s convenient to have breakfast and dinner included while sightseeing.

We had a comfortable stay.
On my previous four stays at Mercure Accommodations, dinner and breakfast were crowded every time, so I couldn’t relax. However, this was my first stay at Mercure Fukuoka Munakata Resort & Spa, and I was able to unwind and truly enjoy the trip. I had often felt that other guests could be noisy and poorly mannered, but this time everyone seemed to be enjoying their travel and the food, with good manners, which made for a very pleasant stay.

Multiple Night Stay (3 nights)
I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay of three nights on a breakfast-included Plan while returning home for a memorial service. I appreciated the clear explanation of the Facility at check-in. On the first night, I had time to relax and used the Onsen and the lounge. The lounge had a wide selection of alcohol, soft drinks, and even snacks, so I had a great time. If I had to say one thing, there were many sweet snacks, so it would have been even better with more savory options that pair well with drinks. The breakfast buffet offered many dishes, all delicious—I ate until I was completely full. Some relatives have stayed at this Hotel before and told me the food was excellent, and it lived up to its reputation. On the third day I returned late, and since both the bath and lounge close at 11:00 PM, I couldn’t use them. I wished they were open a bit later. Also, there is no water dispenser in the large public bath area, so bringing a drink with you before using the sauna is essential. After leaving the large public bath area, there is a water dispenser, ice popsicles, and chairs to enjoy. There are no alcohol vending machines in the building; since it’s about a 15-minute walk to the nearest convenience store, I ended up giving up. There is also no room service. Because I couldn’t use the large public bath area that night, I used the bath in my Room instead, but unfortunately the shower temperature was unstable—sometimes cold and sometimes too hot. The drainage wasn’t great either, so I gave up on filling the tub. The lounge itself was nice, but there were traces left by previous guests—the table was dirty—which was disappointing. I stayed for three days; there were relatively many Korean guests who chatted in loud voices in the large public bath area/sauna area or entered cold baths without rinsing off sweat first. Some also spoke loudly in the hallway after midnight (clearly audible through my door). It would have been helpful to have posted reminders about proper etiquette in or near the large public bath area. There was a water dispenser in one of hallways where both cold water and hot water were available—it was very convenient. If your stay at this Hotel is short you may not fully experience what makes it special. Next time I'd like to stay just to enjoy bathing and meals without going anywhere else during my trip. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

Very satisfied with the all-inclusive package!
Although it’s close to home, my partner and I stayed to relax. Even though we didn’t request it, thank you for preparing a room on a higher floor! The view was beautiful—we could see both the sea and the mountains, which was very soothing. The buffet at both dinner and breakfast offered a great variety of food and drinks; it was fun just to look at, and everything was delicious. My partner especially loved being able to have draft beer as a welcome drink. I was also very satisfied with the coffee both on arrival and at checkout. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen, including the open-air bath and sauna. Everything was clean and very comfortable. All of the staff greeted us with smiles and provided excellent service, which made us feel great. If I had to mention anything, the non-smoking room had a slight cigarette smell (but it was resolved thanks to the air purifier and deodorizing spray), and I felt a bit hesitant about using the slippers provided. If possible, switching to disposable slippers or slippers made of an easy-to-wipe material would be appreciated—especially for female guests. That said, the Accommodation Fee was reasonable, and we had a very comfortable stay. Thank you very much!

I would like to share that I hope you will continue striving to be a comfortable Hotel.
This is my sixth stay. I would like to share a few thoughts in the hope that the Hotel continues striving to be comfortable. In my previous feedback, I mentioned body-oil buildup on the bath bucket. It seemed cleaner than last time, but during three baths I still felt it was not fully clean. Something new I noticed this time was that body-oil residue was noticeable on the bath chair as well. This may be due to the high number of guests or the material of the bucket and chair. On the positive side, there was a stand where towels and other items can be placed, which was convenient. The water-quality checks for each bath, updates on the sauna boiler status, and careful tidying after messy use were all handled well. I also felt that cleaning such as wiping down the mirrors at the washbasins was done properly. I will stay again in May.

All-inclusive
All-inclusive It was excellent. We were able to relax and enjoy it at a leisurely pace. After Beppu, we were also curious about this place and decided to stay here, and we’re glad we did. For reference, we’ve stayed in Beppu three times.

I was able to relax.
This was my first time staying here. First of all, the hoteliers’ smiles and service were wonderful. It was right when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, so the scenery was beautiful, and the illuminated cherry blossoms in particular were truly moving. Unfortunately, due to time constraints I wasn’t able to dine this time, but the guest-only bar lounge was also very comfortable, and all the guests enjoyed a quiet, grown-up atmosphere—it was perfect.

I’m glad I stayed here.
Thank you for taking care of us during our stay. We live about 30 minutes away by car, but chose to stay because this Accommodation offers an all-inclusive plan. As soon as we checked in, we enjoyed beer and other drinks in the lounge. Dinner was delicious across the board—the Munakata beef steak was excellent, and we also enjoyed the sashimi. The entire building smelled wonderful and was very well cleaned. However, it felt like there were not many options that my grandchild could eat. We had a relaxing time and were glad we stayed. We will be back in June with friends.

All-inclusive
I stayed at Mercure Munakata. The meals were buffet-style with a wide variety of options, and everything was delicious—I was very satisfied. I ended up eating more than I should. The building is from the former Genkai Royal, so it does feel a bit dated, but in return it has a spacious layout, and I was able to stay comfortably in a relaxed atmosphere. Another great point is being able to enjoy alcoholic drinks with the all-inclusive plan right after check-in, which made my stay very relaxing. However, during the evening bar time, sparkling wine and beer are not served, so knowing that in advance will help you enjoy it even more. The Onsen was also wonderful, and overall this is a Hotel I would recommend for anyone who wants to take it easy and unwind.

Amazing value for money! However, the room could be cleaner.
I’ve stayed at Mercure in Beppu and Tottori before, and it offers great value for money. The lounge and buffet quality are excellent with nothing to complain about. This time, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom at just the right moment, and it was wonderful to see the illuminated blossoms at night even from the open-air bath. I also enjoyed the limited three-day Night Sakura BAR, which was fantastic (the bartender’s hospitality was lovely as well). Overall, my satisfaction was high, but if I may offer some candid feedback, there were three disappointing points. 1) About the Room: Regarding the slippers, they seemed to be reused. After getting out of the bath, I noticed an unpleasant smell… and it turned out to be from the slippers. My husband’s pair smelled as well, so I wondered if they hadn’t been properly cleaned (even the spare bath slippers smelled). It would be great to have disposable slippers or non-fabric slippers. Also, there were two sofas in the Room; one had severe dark staining in certain areas and looked too dirty to sit on. I think it would be better to remove it. 2) Staff movement during breakfast: Some older staff members repeatedly blocked traffic flow, and I almost bumped into them several times. Some younger staff—perhaps temporary workers—were also rushing carts through as if competing for space, so guests had to step aside carefully. This didn’t bother me at dinner time, so it was a bit disappointing. 3) Noise during cleaning: While relaxing in my Room until checkout time, loud thumping noises continued for a long time. (When returning to my Room area later on, nearby Rooms were already being cleaned.) I understand housekeeping needs to work efficiently, but I wanted a calmer atmosphere. I would like to visit again, so I would appreciate it if these points could be improved.

Staying with my grandchild, just the two of us.
As we did last year, I stayed here again with my grandchild who came from Tokyo. We both love alcohol, so we were very happy to be able to enjoy a wide variety of drinks. I have stayed here many times since the Genkai Royal Hotel days, and since it became Mercure, the food has improved and there is even more to look forward to.\nI was also looking forward to the open-air bath, as it’s easy to enjoy in this season. However, this time only, the water was too hot for me to relax, which was disappointing. I had hoped to soak in a milder temperature and fully enjoy both the warmth of the water and the refreshing air—that was my only regret.\nStill, it remains a Hotel I want to visit again. I would like to continue staying here in the future!
