This is my second stay, and I’m very satisfied with everything. I’d only like to see the elevator improved.

It’s admirable that you’re making an effort to improve the issues.

I stay here repeatedly because I occasionally have business nearby. It was the busiest I’ve ever seen, but I could tell they were trying to improve things despite the crowds, such as: - Using multiple dining venues and assigning time slots - Opening part of the service elevators for guest use Some meals also felt like cost-cutting measures were in place, but considering the value for money, it’s still more than sufficient.

    Relax with your family

It was very crowded due to the summer holidays, but personally I was able to relax and was very satisfied. The food was very delicious.

It was great to be able to use the sauna from the morning, since many places only operate it at night.

    Overall: 4/5 — Generally satisfied.

We stayed from the last Sunday of the Obon holidays through the following weekday Monday with 2 adults and 2 children. - Check-in was not crowded and went smoothly. - We were able to enjoy complimentary drinks (snacks, alcohol, and juice) in the lounge right away, which was great. - The lounge seemed understaffed, and there was an issue where a leftover-drinks tank overflowed (the staff had to clean it up with bare hands using paper towels, which I felt sorry about). - The Room feels quite old. - The floors were not cleaned thoroughly (there were forgotten items such as socks and toys from previous guests). - Amenities in the Room are limited to things like towels, loungewear, and toothbrushes, but I think that is reasonable and cost-effective. - Dinner is offered in two concentrated time slots (from 5:30 PM and from 7:30 PM), so there was a very long line just to enter the venue. - The down elevators to the venue were also extremely crowded and hard to get on (it would be nice to see operational improvements such as staggered entry every 15 minutes). - Overall, we were satisfied with the buffet menu. - Right after opening, popular items had very long lines—it felt like waiting for rations (it seems best to start with less crowded items along with drinks, then line up once things settle down a bit). - There are many types of baths/spas available, which we enjoyed. - The women’s bath does not have a cold plunge pool; after the sauna you need to use a shower instead. - Complimentary drinks in the bath lounge and skincare amenities (Hadabisei) were appreciated services. - On one occasion, toilet paper ran out in a first-floor restroom. - There are plenty of activities such as table tennis, an arcade area, and outdoor activities—lots of options for fun. All staff members were kind; however, it felt like there were not enough staff for the number of guests staying there. I think it’s best to come prepared with a mindset of doing some things yourselves (cleaning up after yourselves, getting what you need on your own initiative, moving around during less busy times). That said, we really enjoyed both the meals—they were fun and delicious—and the wide variety of activities available. I’m giving 4 stars while cheering for further operational improvements. Thank you very much.

    We’ll be back.

We stayed with our children. Unfortunately, due to the bad weather, we couldn’t use the pool or do the bonfire and fishing we had planned, but the Room was spacious and open, and we enjoyed a delicious buffet meal.

We are concerned about the behavior of some guests.

Although it was extremely crowded during the summer holiday period, the operations ran smoothly. I visited the Lake View Lounge and was surprised to see many guests wearing slippers and pajamas. Since there are two lounges, I would like at least this one to restrict the use of slippers and pajamas. It was not relaxing at all. Also, the menu was the same as in the regular lounge, so I wish there were some differences.

    Birthday Trip

We stayed with our family on my birthday. They even upgraded our Room, and overall we were able to relax and have a great time. We arrived at the Hotel around 2:00 PM to use the pool, but there was already a line of more than 20 groups waiting to check in. Since we couldn’t enter the pool without checking in, we waited about 30 minutes. Luckily, we found a nearby locker (there aren’t many) to store our belongings, and by around 2:30 PM we were able to enjoy the pool. As others had mentioned, there were lines for both dinner and breakfast as well. However, because we acted early, we were smoothly guided into an alternative dining area and could enjoy plenty of delicious food. For families with children, I think eating in the separate venue is great because you can take your time. Our child also enjoyed summer-only activities like a yokai hunt and a mystery tour. Even though it was reasonably priced, all the staff were kind, and I’m grateful for such attentive hospitality. We’d love to stay again as a family.

    Outstanding value for money.

Because my wife is from Hamamatsu, we always stay at this Facility. It’s always an excellent value, very clean, and on this visit we were even upgraded, which made our trip to Hamamatsu wonderful. We look forward to staying with you again.

A disappointing choice after a long time.

I had stayed at several Mercure Hotels overseas and expected a similar experience in Japan, but this felt more like a family-oriented Onsen Ryokan, so it was the wrong choice for me. There were many small children running around the Hotel, and the noise was honestly exhausting. I had booked a Plan with breakfast, but there was a long line of families with children from early morning, so I didn’t feel like waiting for the buffet and skipped breakfast. It’s wonderful to see children who will support Japan’s future, but for those of us whose child-rearing years are long behind us, I would have chosen somewhere else if I had known at Reservation that this was that kind of Hotel. My mistake for feeling reassured by the Mercure name.

We were disappointed that the pool was unavailable.

We arrived around 15:45, but due to a very long line, we did not complete check-in until 16:50. Despite that, dinner was fixed at 17:00–18:30, so we were unable to use the pool (available only until 19:00) or the welcome lounge on the 13th floor. On top of that, there were two pieces of trash left in the Room, which was very disappointing. Arriving in the 15:00 hour and still being unable to use Facilities that should normally be available does not seem appropriate for an all-inclusive Hotel. I hope there will be improvements in how the time slots are set.

    Summer Vacation Memories

My 6th-grade daughter, my wife, my father, and I (53) stayed for one night with dinner and breakfast included. Since it was a Saturday night during summer vacation, check-in and breakfast were very crowded. Overall, we were satisfied.

It’s important not to expect too much and to be understanding.

We stayed for two nights as a family of three. For better or worse, it was exactly as the Reviews said. We arrived a little after 2:00 p.m., and there were only about three groups ahead of us for check-in, but we quickly got tired of the crowded elevators and long buffet lines. I thought weekdays would be fine even during summer vacation, but I was wrong. Beyond the crowds, the 13th-floor lounge had no executive feel at all and did not match what was described on the website. When we went around 9:30 p.m., there were no seats available; some families were playing cards, and nearly half the tables weren’t following the rule of placing the designated card on the table. When we visited the book chapel in the early evening, strange lighting made it go dark every few seconds—far too dim to read. In the large public bath, water wasn’t being added to one of the indoor baths and it was only about 80% full (so it didn’t seem to be circulating either). The rule that guests should change in the changing room before/after using the pool wasn’t followed; families in swimsuits were riding in the elevators (I understand why—the changing room isn’t very comfortable—but a simple rule like requiring a cover-up inside could work). The rules during our Multiple Night Stay (cleaning and linen changes) differed slightly between what we were told at check-in and what was written on the paper we received, and when I asked again at reception the next morning, I got yet another explanation. Because our child is in junior high school, we made a Reservation for three adults, but there were only two tea bags provided in our Room. Even though we booked a Family Executive Twin Room, it had a unit bath (which is fine), but this wasn’t mentioned in any Plan description—disappointing. The roaming horror mystery program itself is well designed, but perhaps because it takes you through areas not normally used, some rooms smelled bad and weren’t air-conditioned. Also, there were multiple spots where Wi-Fi didn’t work inside this Hotel (since you proceed while playing videos, we eventually gave up on using it). I’ve listed many issues, but since we booked at a relatively reasonable price on IKYU.com this time around, considering value for money I’m trying to accept it as something to put up with. If you’re not looking for relaxation or luxury and can laugh off minor inconveniences as long as it's cost-effective overall, then staying here may be an option. Our family will choose another Hotel next time—even if it costs more—one without worrying Reviews.

Not bad, but not a place to truly relax!?

We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights. The staff were kind, but the hotel was very crowded, so there was always a wait at check-in and for the elevators. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking to relax with your family.

    Summer Vacation

The Room facing Lake Hamana was spacious, and the Onsen was very relaxing. Both the dinner buffet and the breakfast menu included local specialties and were thoughtfully prepared. As it was during summer vacation, there were many families, and although the property is large, it felt quite crowded with guests. For future improvements, I would appreciate shorter wait times at check-in and better crowd management during breakfast hours. Also, the in-house loungewear is made of very thick fabric; for this summer season, lighter options such as a thin samue would be preferable.

A great Hotel for families with children.

Three of my girlfriends and I wanted to relax nearby, so we chose this place. Since we had babies with us, we stayed in the Japanese-modern family Room. The Room seemed clean, perhaps recently renovated. However, the plumbing areas felt old, and I really wished at least the toilet had been updated. The large public bath was great, but even though the hair dryers were ReFa, the airflow was weak—and there weren’t many of them. All of the food was delicious. I don’t drink alcohol, but I still enjoyed the lounge. I mentioned in advance that it was a birthday in the comments, and they prepared a celebration plate for us (they provided a plate with “Happy Birthday” written on it, and you assemble it yourself using items from the buffet). That kind of thoughtful touch made me very happy—thank you. The seat we were shown to was also in a perfect spot. With breakfast and dinner included, three adults and two babies were able to relax for just over 30,000 yen overall, so we were mostly satisfied.

    Tourist Hotel

In the middle of summer vacation, most guests were families. For the kids, it must have felt like heaven—with a pool, table tennis, a yokai game, and all-you-can-eat desserts. I was also surprised that, despite being an international Hotel, yukata and slippers were allowed inside the building and even into the dining area. It felt like an Onsen Ryokan. Since it’s all-inclusive, even alcohol during meals was free. Because it’s buffet-style, you may end up overeating—so be careful. As this was a summer vacation Reservation, check-in took about 40 minutes; the lounge was full so we couldn’t use it, and the baths were extremely crowded—so you may want to choose your timing carefully. One concern: given how many guests they have to handle it may be unavoidable, but I noticed some dirty dishes and cutlery. It would be nice if they could accommodate EV visitors as well. Also note that ice is only available for purchase at the shop on the first floor—another thing to keep in mind. This is a tourist Hotel mainly geared toward families.

    The meals are outstanding.

I stayed here for a business trip. I was a bit concerned after reading various things in the Reviews, but I ended up being satisfied. Next time, I’d like to bring my family. The meals were not only varied but also delicious!!

Ideal for families with young children

Stunned by the chaos—accept that this is a family-oriented Hotel and use it with patience and tolerance. The location is ideal for a morning run by the lake, and since it was a weekday we assumed it wouldn’t be too crowded; in hindsight, we regret being so complacent.

    All-inclusive accommodation

Although it was very crowded during our stay, we were able to relax in the spacious open-air bath. We felt there was a wide variety of options for both dinner and breakfast. It was busy at dinner time, but we could check available time slots via a QR code and were able to dine without waiting too long. With panoramic views of Lake Hamana, a lounge, and an all-inclusive plan with dinner and breakfast included, Mercure Lake Hamana is great value for money!

    Over capacity

We stayed here for a family trip during summer vacation. I strongly felt that this Hotel is constantly operating beyond capacity, to the point where it cannot properly accommodate guests. First, check-in: when we arrived after 3:00 p.m., there was a very long line and it took a long time to check in. Next, there are only three elevators (plus one additional unit that may have originally been for staff), and you often have to wait 5–10 minutes to get on. This continued throughout our stay. When we got to our Room, the sheer curtain was torn with a hole about the size of a fist. I didn’t want to be suspected of causing it, so I contacted the front desk, but they only said, “Yes, understood.” (They apologized at checkout, but their initial response left me feeling very uncomfortable.) Dinner was a buffet with assigned time slots, but there were far too many guests; it was difficult to get food and it took 20–30 minutes before we could even start eating. Breakfast is also a buffet starting at 7:00 a.m., and just like dinner it takes time before you can begin eating. Because too many seats are packed in, the space around the food stations is far too narrow—you bump into other guests, and it’s unclear whether people are lining up or not, which is extremely stressful. Back in the Room, loud stomping noises echoed until after 10:00 p.m.; I couldn’t tell whether they were from upstairs or next door. The bath was nice because I could relax and bathe with my child. I had been looking forward to staying here, but in reality it was stressful because we constantly had to plan everything around crowding from other guests. This was not a Hotel I could be satisfied with at all, so I will never stay here again. I understand that attracting guests is necessary for running a Hotel business; however, unless they reduce guest numbers somewhat and operate accordingly, I believe people will continue to have unpleasant experiences like mine.

True to the Reviews, for better or worse.

    - Check-in We stayed in an Executive Twin for a 2-night/3-day trip (Sat–Mon). Although we arrived at 15:20, there were more than 30 parties waiting to check in, and it took nearly an hour. I had seen Reviews mentioning long waits in advance, but this was far beyond expectations. Both the first-floor lounge and the lobby were packed, and after traveling, spending an hour like that was exhausting. - Guest room The hair dryer was extremely weak, so I asked the front desk for a replacement, but they said they only had the same model. When I checked it myself, the air intake was clogged with dust. After cleaning it on my own, the airflow improved, but it was unpleasant. The official page shows two pillows per bed, but there was only one. I noticed at bedtime on the first night and went to sleep anyway, which left my neck sore. When I asked the next day if an extra pillow could be provided, they brought one over—but I wish there had been two from the start. - Lounge We mainly used the lounge on the 13th floor. Snacks were limited to a small selection of light items such as chocolate, pretzels, and popcorn. The alcohol selection was excellent: beer options included Kirin and Asahi, and there were also plenty of cocktails. In particular, there were six types of whisky—I was surprised they even had “Fuji.” In the evening it was almost full most of the time, with window seats especially popular. - Bath This may have been specific to the men’s bath area, but there was no facial cleanser provided in the bathing area. Also, razors were not available inside and had to be picked up from the lobby area beforehand, which felt inconvenient. There were also multiple lockers with broken locks; it looked bad and should be repaired. - Pool There are some parasols and trees but only in limited areas; since there is no roof over the pool itself، shade is insufficient. Also، not being able to use it from 11:00 to 14:00 is disappointing. Since Kamezaki Family Land Pool nearby is about a 10-minute walk away، that option felt better for families. - Dining Some items (such as eel dishes and steak) are not available at satellite venues، so you have to go to the main venue to get them۔ However، we were satisfied with both variety and taste overall۔ For breakfast، you can check crowd levels via an app، but even when it shows waiting groups, you still get seated—so it’s unclear how that works۔ - Guests / atmosphere Overall, many guests are families with children, so the first-floor lounge is frequently noisy۔ Even though guests are instructed not to walk around inside wearing swimsuits (and instead change in changing rooms by poolside)، hardly anyone followed this rule۔ There were also quite a few shockingly inconsiderate people, and adults’ poor manners stood out more than children’s。

Excellent value for money and a great Hotel overall

This was an overall great Hotel, with an all-inclusive plan, a pool and a manga lounge, plus excellent meals and baths. My only complaint is that despite being all-inclusive, towels for the baths and pool had to be brought from the Room, which was inconvenient. It was disappointing to have to carry towels each time and to be expected to reuse the same towel. (I understand this may be unavoidable due to the Hotel’s costs and operational constraints.)

Dinner and breakfast included for families with children

Recommended. We stayed for two nights on weekdays during summer vacation. I had stayed in Kamogawa back in the Daiwa days before Riverland, so I already knew the general atmosphere. Compared with that, it feels like they’ve really made an effort. The Onsen is spacious and clean. The Hotel pool is small, but there’s also a public pool called Kamezaki Family Land about a 10-minute walk away for kids. If you have a car, Palpal (an amusement park) also has a pool and looks like a good option. Meals get very crowded, but there’s a wide variety and it’s fun for children. There’s also a small craft area, table tennis, and the lounge has a casual vibe—overall, it’s an easy and comfortable place for families with kids.

Rooftop lounge temporarily out of service.

The rooftop lounge was unavailable, apparently due to an air-conditioning malfunction. We were directed instead to a space like a vacant Room next door that was extremely dirty. Was there really anyone who wouldn’t be dissatisfied with this? We were told on the day that it couldn’t be used, received no refund, and were simply left with no resolution. If you’re coming specifically for the executive lounge, please be careful—you’ll be truly disappointed and left speechless. You’ll be taken to a vacant Room far from any “newly opened lounge,” with dirty chairs, carpet, and mirrors—everything covered in stains.

    Both breakfast and d...

Both breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of options, all delicious, and we were very satisfied. In particular, the staff at the breakfast venue greeted us warmly, which made for a pleasant start to the day. On the other hand, the pool changing room that our child was looking forward to lacked cleanliness to the point that we hesitated to use it. Also, the door made a loud noise when closing, which was quite bothersome. If you could consider improvements to the Facility or measures such as relocating the changing room, I think it would be much more comfortable to use. The Room and Onsen were clean and comfortable. Because the meals and service were excellent, improving the changing room environment would make this an even more satisfying Hotel.

I like Mercure, but it’s too crowded.

This was my second or third stay. I’ve stayed at Mercure hotels in various places, but this one is far too crowded. I understand it’s inexpensive, but there are simply too many people and it becomes unpleasant. Also, the manners of some guests speaking Chinese were extremely poor—bumping into others and leaving the bath area dirty. I didn’t dislike Chinese people to begin with, but this experience almost made me feel that way. The food was delicious, but the “separate venue” for dining felt dark and uninviting. I don’t think I’ll stay here again.
