The meals are outstanding.
I stayed here for a business trip. I was a bit concerned after reading various things in the Reviews, but I ended up being satisfied. Next time, I’d like to bring my family. The meals were not only varied but also delicious!!

Ideal for families with young children
Stunned by the chaos—accept that this is a family-oriented Hotel and use it with patience and tolerance. The location is ideal for a morning run by the lake, and since it was a weekday we assumed it wouldn’t be too crowded; in hindsight, we regret being so complacent.

All-inclusive accommodation
Although it was very crowded during our stay, we were able to relax in the spacious open-air bath. We felt there was a wide variety of options for both dinner and breakfast. It was busy at dinner time, but we could check available time slots via a QR code and were able to dine without waiting too long. With panoramic views of Lake Hamana, a lounge, and an all-inclusive plan with dinner and breakfast included, Mercure Lake Hamana is great value for money!

Over capacity
We stayed here for a family trip during summer vacation. I strongly felt that this Hotel is constantly operating beyond capacity, to the point where it cannot properly accommodate guests. First, check-in: when we arrived after 3:00 p.m., there was a very long line and it took a long time to check in. Next, there are only three elevators (plus one additional unit that may have originally been for staff), and you often have to wait 5–10 minutes to get on. This continued throughout our stay. When we got to our Room, the sheer curtain was torn with a hole about the size of a fist. I didn’t want to be suspected of causing it, so I contacted the front desk, but they only said, “Yes, understood.” (They apologized at checkout, but their initial response left me feeling very uncomfortable.) Dinner was a buffet with assigned time slots, but there were far too many guests; it was difficult to get food and it took 20–30 minutes before we could even start eating. Breakfast is also a buffet starting at 7:00 a.m., and just like dinner it takes time before you can begin eating. Because too many seats are packed in, the space around the food stations is far too narrow—you bump into other guests, and it’s unclear whether people are lining up or not, which is extremely stressful. Back in the Room, loud stomping noises echoed until after 10:00 p.m.; I couldn’t tell whether they were from upstairs or next door. The bath was nice because I could relax and bathe with my child. I had been looking forward to staying here, but in reality it was stressful because we constantly had to plan everything around crowding from other guests. This was not a Hotel I could be satisfied with at all, so I will never stay here again. I understand that attracting guests is necessary for running a Hotel business; however, unless they reduce guest numbers somewhat and operate accordingly, I believe people will continue to have unpleasant experiences like mine.

True to the Reviews, for better or worse.
- Check-in We stayed in an Executive Twin for a 2-night/3-day trip (Sat–Mon). Although we arrived at 15:20, there were more than 30 parties waiting to check in, and it took nearly an hour. I had seen Reviews mentioning long waits in advance, but this was far beyond expectations. Both the first-floor lounge and the lobby were packed, and after traveling, spending an hour like that was exhausting. - Guest room The hair dryer was extremely weak, so I asked the front desk for a replacement, but they said they only had the same model. When I checked it myself, the air intake was clogged with dust. After cleaning it on my own, the airflow improved, but it was unpleasant. The official page shows two pillows per bed, but there was only one. I noticed at bedtime on the first night and went to sleep anyway, which left my neck sore. When I asked the next day if an extra pillow could be provided, they brought one over—but I wish there had been two from the start. - Lounge We mainly used the lounge on the 13th floor. Snacks were limited to a small selection of light items such as chocolate, pretzels, and popcorn. The alcohol selection was excellent: beer options included Kirin and Asahi, and there were also plenty of cocktails. In particular, there were six types of whisky—I was surprised they even had “Fuji.” In the evening it was almost full most of the time, with window seats especially popular. - Bath This may have been specific to the men’s bath area, but there was no facial cleanser provided in the bathing area. Also, razors were not available inside and had to be picked up from the lobby area beforehand, which felt inconvenient. There were also multiple lockers with broken locks; it looked bad and should be repaired. - Pool There are some parasols and trees but only in limited areas; since there is no roof over the pool itself، shade is insufficient. Also، not being able to use it from 11:00 to 14:00 is disappointing. Since Kamezaki Family Land Pool nearby is about a 10-minute walk away، that option felt better for families. - Dining Some items (such as eel dishes and steak) are not available at satellite venues، so you have to go to the main venue to get them۔ However، we were satisfied with both variety and taste overall۔ For breakfast، you can check crowd levels via an app، but even when it shows waiting groups, you still get seated—so it’s unclear how that works۔ - Guests / atmosphere Overall, many guests are families with children, so the first-floor lounge is frequently noisy۔ Even though guests are instructed not to walk around inside wearing swimsuits (and instead change in changing rooms by poolside)، hardly anyone followed this rule۔ There were also quite a few shockingly inconsiderate people, and adults’ poor manners stood out more than children’s。

Excellent value for money and a great Hotel overall
This was an overall great Hotel, with an all-inclusive plan, a pool and a manga lounge, plus excellent meals and baths. My only complaint is that despite being all-inclusive, towels for the baths and pool had to be brought from the Room, which was inconvenient. It was disappointing to have to carry towels each time and to be expected to reuse the same towel. (I understand this may be unavoidable due to the Hotel’s costs and operational constraints.)

Dinner and breakfast included for families with children
Recommended. We stayed for two nights on weekdays during summer vacation. I had stayed in Kamogawa back in the Daiwa days before Riverland, so I already knew the general atmosphere. Compared with that, it feels like they’ve really made an effort. The Onsen is spacious and clean. The Hotel pool is small, but there’s also a public pool called Kamezaki Family Land about a 10-minute walk away for kids. If you have a car, Palpal (an amusement park) also has a pool and looks like a good option. Meals get very crowded, but there’s a wide variety and it’s fun for children. There’s also a small craft area, table tennis, and the lounge has a casual vibe—overall, it’s an easy and comfortable place for families with kids.

Rooftop lounge temporarily out of service.
The rooftop lounge was unavailable, apparently due to an air-conditioning malfunction. We were directed instead to a space like a vacant Room next door that was extremely dirty. Was there really anyone who wouldn’t be dissatisfied with this? We were told on the day that it couldn’t be used, received no refund, and were simply left with no resolution. If you’re coming specifically for the executive lounge, please be careful—you’ll be truly disappointed and left speechless. You’ll be taken to a vacant Room far from any “newly opened lounge,” with dirty chairs, carpet, and mirrors—everything covered in stains.

Both breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of options, all delicious, and we were very satisfied. In particular, the staff at the breakfast venue greeted us warmly, which made for a pleasant start to the day. On the other hand, the pool changing room that our child was looking forward to lacked cleanliness to the point that we hesitated to use it. Also, the door made a loud noise when closing, which was quite bothersome. If you could consider improvements to the Facility or measures such as relocating the changing room, I think it would be much more comfortable to use. The Room and Onsen were clean and comfortable. Because the meals and service were excellent, improving the changing room environment would make this an even more satisfying Hotel.

I like Mercure, but it’s too crowded.
This was my second or third stay. I’ve stayed at Mercure hotels in various places, but this one is far too crowded. I understand it’s inexpensive, but there are simply too many people and it becomes unpleasant. Also, the manners of some guests speaking Chinese were extremely poor—bumping into others and leaving the bath area dirty. I didn’t dislike Chinese people to begin with, but this experience almost made me feel that way. The food was delicious, but the “separate venue” for dining felt dark and uninviting. I don’t think I’ll stay here again.

I stayed here for the first time last month and returned because it was excellent value for money. It can’t be helped that the elevators get crowded right after check-in starts or after group arrivals, but thanks to the pleasant service, I had a very comfortable stay. Thank you very much. I’m looking forward to my Reservation in September.

Conquer Japan
Stayed at the Mercure in Ise. The food, Facility management, and the staff’s hospitality were all excellent. If I had to ask for more, it would be about how crowded it gets!! But that’s probably a sign of its popularity. We travel once a month, and after staying at a certain Hotel chain all over Japan, we were looking for what to try next. We found Mercure and were truly impressed. We look forward to staying with you again.

Staff Impression
I stayed overnight yesterday. The meals were delicious, and the building felt appropriate for its age. My honest impression of the staff is that the way I was spoken to at check-in left a bad impression, and it didn’t put me in a good mood. At check-in, the preferred meal time was not explained clearly, which caused delays. There was also no explanation of the Facility (the large public bath, where the dining venue is located, etc.), and then the front desk simply ended with “Do you have any questions?” It seemed there was also an event for children, but there was no explanation about that either; by the time we noticed it had already ended, and my child started crying. Unless I asked questions, I couldn’t get any information. The other staff members were kind and helpful, and I appreciate it. Thank you very much. This is only my personal opinion, but I felt very disappointed.

I was satisfied!
My husband and I currently live in Kyoto, and we traveled by car to Hamamatsu City to visit the cemetery for the first time in a while, together with our daughter’s family of three from Shiga (five of us in total). We had reserved two Rooms at Grand Mercure Lake Hamana in advance, and our Rooms were on the 11th floor with a view of Lake Hamana. We have stayed at a group Hotel in Nagahama City before, so we already knew to some extent how lavish the meals would be. As expected, both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style with Japanese, Western, and Chinese options—an excellent variety, all delicious. At dinner, alcoholic drinks were included as free-flow drinks as well, offering great value for money, and our whole family was very satisfied. The only disappointment was that the large public bath—including the open-air bath—was lukewarm for both men and women.

The Club Floor was disappointing.
Check-in went more smoothly than before, and the wait was shorter than I expected.\nStill, it probably took about 20 minutes.\nI was on the club floor, but the lovely top-floor Room with a great view was too hot to stay in because the air conditioning was broken.\nWe were served in a neighboring space that felt like a cafeteria.\nThe alcohol and snacks didn’t seem much different from what’s offered on the first floor.\nIn the evening, there was a bonfire and fishing event, so we couldn’t use it.\nThe bath also closes by 10:30 p.m.\nOf course, by the time we finished fishing it was already closed,\nso we took turns using the Room’s unit bath.\nOverall, it was quite disappointing.

Your First Mercure Experience
I wanted to visit Lake Hamana, and since there is an Onsen, I stayed at Mercure. We were welcomed at the entrance with wind chimes. The Room was spacious with a great view, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There were multiple trash bins, and the layout made it easy to move around, which was nice. As mentioned in other Reviews, there were lines at check-in and during meals. When going to pick up food it was very crowded and difficult at first, but it settled down after a while. There was a wide variety of dishes, and I also enjoyed the sake and plum wine. The lounge also had a great selection, and I was happy they had sparkling wine as well. I could relax while looking out over Lake Hamana. It felt like a resort getaway for the first time in a while, and I would love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you very much.

It was very good!
Everything was excellent—the Room, the staff service, and the meals. We stayed as a couple and came home saying we’d like to visit again. The Hotel was clean, and the Onsen and all-inclusive offerings were very appealing. Thank you very much.

Great value for money. Ideal for families.
We visited on a last-minute break for a nearby trip. With its casual service, I think it’s easy for large families and guests with small children to enjoy without feeling self-conscious. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet-style; the food quality was good, with plenty of local ingredients, and there was a wide variety of drinks, so we were very satisfied. The Room inevitably showed some age overall, but I think the stay would be more comfortable with a bit more thorough cleaning. For example, using a full duvet cover rather than one that covers only one side would feel cleaner and make it easier to sleep comfortably; if only one side is covered, the duvet itself needs to be kept cleaner. With just a few small improvements, the stay could feel significantly better and make guests want to return.

A nearby Hotel
We stayed as a family of three. Since it was a Saturday night, there were quite a lot of guests, and there was a line at the front desk at check-in (15:00). However, you take a numbered ticket and wait on the sofa until you’re called, so it wasn’t too stressful. The Room felt clean and left a good impression. We made a Reservation for an Executive Twin Room, which allowed us to use the lounge on the 13th floor, so we stopped by for a drink before dinner and enjoyed beer and local sake. It was also very crowded and not really a place to relax quietly, but... Dinner was very satisfying—the dining area was spacious with plenty of variety, and alcohol was all-you-can-drink. Personally, I especially liked the Hamamatsu gyoza and bokumeshi. The bath area felt like a typical large public bath without any particularly distinctive features. Overall, both the front desk staff and the dining staff were pleasant and helpful, so we were very satisfied. Next time, I’d like to stay at another Grand Mercure Accommodation as well.

Is it different from before?
For about four years, my mother and aunt have stayed here about once every six months. They were always satisfied with the breakfast and dinner, the baths, and the service, and they looked forward to each visit... This time, however, they came home saying it was the worst. They said the staff’s attitude was poor, and that food was not being replenished at either the breakfast or dinner buffet. There may have been a large group from overseas staying at the same time so you may have been busy, but because they had been looking forward to it so much, it was very disappointing to see them return home so let down. It’s unfortunate if individual guests are treated as less important than overseas tour groups who may spend more.

My husband brought me here for my birthday. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Everything we ate was delicious. There were many unique dishes, and it was fun just to look at them. The moment I entered the dining venue, I felt excited. Most of the dining staff seemed to be older, and they were kind and very pleasant. There wasn’t much to complain about, but if I had to mention one thing, the restroom in the bath area didn’t feel very clean—not that it hadn’t been cleaned, but there was something like black mold on the wallpaper, which was a bit unpleasant.

Excellent value for money.
The Room was clean and spacious, and the 13th-floor lounge offered a wide variety of drinks in a calm atmosphere, with no children running around. The Onsen lounge also had amazake and melon drinks, and the breakfast spread was plentiful. We were very satisfied. The shop carried traditional textiles such as Enshu cotton tsumugi, which made choosing souvenirs enjoyable. We would love to visit again.

Long line
You’ll be kept waiting in long lines for check-in, dinner, and breakfast. I went to relax, but the crowds were exhausting. Even at the buffet, you have to line up to get food and it feels like people are competing for it—it was really disappointing.

Unfortunately.
Considering the accommodation cost, it’s hard to expect even standard service. The staff were quite unfriendly at both check-in and check-out. We managed to arrive safely in the middle of a typhoon, but ended up regretting staying here. In the bath area, we witnessed a small child defecate, and the parent rinsed it away with the shower pressure. It made me feel sick, and I couldn’t bring myself to bathe afterward. What is this Hotel’s concept? There are stylish slippers and yukata, and even a ReFa-style powder room, but perhaps due to the type of guests or a lack of staff, it feels far from true hospitality. The one positive was breakfast: there was a wide variety of options and we enjoyed it.

It’s disappointing that local Hamana Lake eel dishes are hard to find!
On the day of our stay, it was extremely crowded (dinner was split into three time slots), and there was a long line for check-in with a wait of over 20 minutes. The 1F lounge was so packed that there were no seats, and those who couldn’t get a seat couldn’t use the lounge at all (drinks are not allowed to be taken out of the lounge, and some guests were occupying seats). Some people even ended up standing and drinking. I had doubts about how the Hotel handled this. The Room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable enough to relax in. I was also satisfied with the amenities. Dinner was also extremely crowded, with long lines and waiting time. With many children present, it became difficult for both guests and staff carrying dishes to pass each other in the narrow dining area between tables. They set up an additional venue to cope, but the food display area remained congested. Some guests ignored the time limits for entry/exit and occupied tables for a long time, so I felt there were issues with managing turnover during meal times. For dinner, the only eel dish was an eel burger; Hamamatsu gyoza, shirasu (whitebait), sakura shrimp, sweet shrimp, and tuna lacked freshness (the sashimi tasted like it had been thawed and watery) and flavor overall, with many dishes geared toward families and children. Even if they claim to offer local specialties, it didn’t feel very local at all—very disappointing. Breakfast was naturally similar: many guests occupied tables for a long time through meals, dessert, and tea service as well, which made me feel the overall guest manners were poor. It was disappointing that so many dishes lacked any sense of Lake Hamana / Hamamatsu / Shizuoka. Onsen bathing hours are also short (until 9:00 a.m. the next morning). It is a good Hotel overall, but I have doubts about their service system (time slots/sections). Given how crowded it was and how underwhelming their response felt at times, I will refrain from staying again next time.

I’ve stayed here many times. It was a weekday, but there were still plenty of guests as usual. Even so, the large public bath wasn’t crowded at all, so I could relax. There are also two areas for drying your hair, so it didn’t get busy, and I was glad to be able to use a ReFa hair dryer. The meals haven’t changed much, and my husband and I were saying we’re starting to get a bit tired of them. But the bouillabaisse was outstanding!! The eel mixed rice didn’t have any visible pieces of eel. I’m happy it’s all-inclusive and you can enjoy drinks, but since I don’t drink much, I’d like to see more non-alcoholic options. I was able to relax while enjoying the wonderful scenery. The sunset over Lake Hamana was beautiful.

A Trip to Honor Your Parents
I stayed here previously when visiting the Lake Hamana area. The Hotel had a calm atmosphere overall, with great views, and it was an excellent place to relax. The building felt spacious, and I had the impression it would be a comfortable stay even with parents. Since we traveled by car, access was not particularly inconvenient, and it worked well as a base for getting around the Lake Hamana area. The Room and Facility may feel a bit dated in places if you focus only on how new they are, but everything was clean and overall we stayed comfortably. The Onsen and meals also added to the travel experience, making it a good Hotel for taking a break from everyday life. Rather than something flashy, I think this is best suited for guests who want to spend time quietly—especially for family trips or traveling with parents. If I have another chance to visit the Lake Hamana area, this is a Hotel I would consider again.
