The Onsen Ryokan I want to stay at again for the first time.

If you inform them of your arrival time at Gora Station, they will pick you up, and if you plan to go sightseeing, they will ask about your plans for the next day the night before. This made it very convenient to proceed as planned. The staff's attentiveness was excellent, and there wasn't a single person who left a bad impression. Even the foreign staff members were impressive with their Japanese skills and dedication to service—it felt like they could work anywhere in the world. The difference in water quality between the Onsen in the room and the large public Onsen was delightful, and we also enjoyed chatting with the teppanyaki chef during our meal, making it a fun experience. We are planning to stay again in summer next time. Thank you very much!

The staff were all very attentive and kind, making the stay very pleasant. However, the lighting was dim for elderly guests, making it difficult to walk safely, and the pathway from the accommodation building to the restaurant felt uneasy and stressful. It seems like an ideal accommodation for younger guests. The breakfast was incredibly delicious. The onsen in the room had excellent water quality, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

    It was relaxing.

The meals were very delicious. The bathroom in the Room was also great. Thank you for promptly replenishing the towels, it was very helpful. The Room was spacious, and the extra bed was so comfortable that it didn’t feel like an extra bed at all. Overall, I had a relaxing stay and enjoyed my time here. However, the corridor connecting buildings felt a bit dark at night; brighter lighting for the walkway would be appreciated. I would love to stay here again!

    3rd fufu

This was my third visit to fufu Hakone. At check-in, I was kindly informed that I could change my dinner to teppanyaki, and although I hesitated because I love fufu's Japanese cuisine, I decided to go with the teppanyaki option. It is limited to a maximum of six groups per day (three groups per seating). Teppanyaki in Hakone? You might wonder, but it was truly delicious. The conversation with the chef also made for a delightful and elegant experience. I'm so glad I chose it! For reference, during my previous two visits, I had Japanese cuisine which perfectly suited my taste and was absolutely delicious as well. The Onsen experience was fantastic—Owakudani Onsen in the large public bath and Gora Onsen in the room were both renowned hot springs that we enjoyed multiple times. The amenities were excellent; even with dry skin, I didn’t feel any dryness during my stay. The bedroom had high insulation levels, and the bed by Simmons was extra thick—while this may vary by individual preference—it suited me perfectly for a deep sleep. This accommodation always leaves me completely satisfied no matter how many times I visit. If recommending improvements: - A free-flow lounge would make it even more exceptional. - The breakfast venue felt slightly rushed; as someone preparing for departure afterward, this atmosphere wasn’t ideal for me. While fulfilling all these wishes may be challenging, this remains one of the accommodations I'd love to revisit repeatedly. Hence these recommendations!

    A Hotel That Exceeds Expectations

This was my second stay this year. Fufu is a hotel with high satisfaction in every aspect, including the room, onsen, meals, and service. The charm of having different onsens in the room and the large public bath made me want to use it repeatedly. The ability to add amenities allowed me to enjoy my stay without getting bored. Even foreign staff members passing by in the hallway waited until they passed and greeted politely. All staff provided courteous service. As it was a special occasion, I was delighted with the framed photo gift—it was very thoughtful! One slightly disappointing moment was when I arrived and got off the elevator; while several staff members greeted me with smiles, two staff at what seemed like a register near the shop ignored me as I passed by. It left me feeling a little let down about my upcoming hotel stay (they appeared to be experienced staff). However, all other staff provided heartfelt service, so I still give 5 stars! I will visit again and would love to try other Fufu locations as well. Thank you to all of your wonderful team!

The room's interior was Japanese-modern and very comfortable. The bathroom in the room was also excellent. We stayed as a group of three, and having two toilets in the room was very convenient!

Onsen and meals, simply the best.

This was my first visit to Fufu Hakone, and as expected from a Michelin Hotel 2025, it is a wonderful hotel. The Onsen experience is exceptional, offering both the transparent Gora-style Onsen (private semi-open-air bath in the room) and the milky white Sengokuhara-style Onsen (large public bath). While nearby hotels are newer and larger with facilities like lounge services and open-air baths on high-rise rooftops offering views of Daimonji-yaki, Fufu excels in terms of both quality and quantity when it comes to dining. The room design and management could use some improvement, but overall, it's an excellent hotel. I will definitely return.

Families visiting 3 to 4 times

When I first visited Fufu Hakone shortly after it opened, there were issues with room cleanliness, such as a milk carton left by the bed. However, I feel that these issues have significantly improved over the past few years. Overall, there were no glaring problems. In terms of satisfaction for a ryokan in this price range, I was about 80% satisfied but would like to point out a few areas that could be improved: 1. The room amenities were almost non-existent. Later, I found out that they are only provided upon request. Since this is not a budget accommodation, I believe certain quality amenities should be prepared from the start. If they are only provided upon request, this should be clearly explained during the room orientation. Additionally, the Dyson hairdryer had poor airflow and usability; it took an excessive amount of time to dry my children's long hair. Please consider replacing it with a more practical hairdryer. 2. There was significant inconsistency in service quality depending on staff members during guidance and meal service regardless of whether they were Japanese or foreign staff members—though foreign staff seemed more earnest on this occasion compared to Japanese staff who felt somewhat disappointing in their approach. From my first visit onward one thing stood out—the entrance area leading into waiting spaces feels cramped creating discomfort; expanding these spaces would greatly enhance guest experience without feeling confined unnecessarily! Also greeting guests warmly both arrival/departure moments leaves lasting impression currently lacking warmth altogether! These observations reflect concerns specific within context pricing-tiered expectations rather than general dissatisfaction overall experience itself remains positive especially dining stability deliciousness albeit sashimi/raw fish/sushi offerings slightly underwhelming comparatively speaking meanwhile private bath/public bath facilities maintain cleanliness clarity explanations surrounding water usage consistently reliable reassuringly pleasant throughout stays alike! In conclusion despite aforementioned critiques seeing growth development year-by-year across entire establishment makes returning future visits likely among preferred accommodations whenever visiting Hakone region again someday ahead! Unfortunately photos unavailable since taken wife instead hope feedback proves helpful others planning trips soon themselves accordingly!

This was my first stay at "Fufu Hakone," and it exceeded my expectations. The food was absolutely delicious, and although I usually leave some dishes uneaten at a Ryokan, this time everything suited my taste perfectly, and I finished every bite. I was also touched by the thoughtful gesture of providing rice balls to accommodate my child’s needs. While I personally found the public bath a bit underwhelming, my child was thrilled with the post-bath drinks and ice cream. The private bath in our room was incredibly relaxing and highly satisfying. Overall, it was a quiet and comfortable experience, making this accommodation highly recommended.

I would love to stay at the facilities in this series again.

We had an absolutely wonderful time overall. For dinner, we were fortunate to be offered a change from kaiseki to teppanyaki due to a cancellation, and the head chef from Suishoen, one of the group facilities, prepared our meal. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Each dish was delicately cooked and seasoned with precision, creating a harmonious balance that left us deeply satisfied by the end of the course. Breakfast was also impressive with its variety and generous portions—it felt almost like another dinner! Even something as simple as the dressing was delicious. Since we have a motto of finishing everything on our plates without leaving any food behind, it took us some time to eat and made us feel slightly rushed as checkout approached. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to visit the public bath because we were so focused on enjoying our meals both at night and in the morning. However, the bathtub in our room was spacious and very relaxing. The only issue was that the water temperature was too hot; since there wasn’t an obvious way to adjust it (like a faucet), I wasn’t sure how best to cool it down. The refrigerator provided various drinks; however, since this is an Onsen accommodation, I would have preferred more water options over alcohol or juice for hydration after bathing. It would be great if guests could request substitutions for more water instead. Lastly, having shuttle service available regardless of time is incredibly convenient. After hearing about Suishoen from your head chef during dinner conversation, I’m now interested in visiting that facility as well!

    Luxury Hotel

The guest room, staff service, and meals were all exceptional. We stayed for our child's first birthday celebration trip and were grateful to borrow a baby crib, baby bath, and baby soap. We also appreciated having a private dining room for our meals. Although we have stayed at many accommodations in Hakone before, Fufu was truly the most luxurious hotel. We would love to stay again!

    First Time in Gora

I traveled to Gora, a place I had always wanted to visit, with my wife. We stayed at "Fufu Hakone" this time. Having stayed at several accommodations in the "Fufu" series before, I had high expectations for this visit, and it largely met them. The overall design of the facility, the atmosphere of the room, and the lighting were all perfectly suited to my taste. During our stay, I found myself nodding in agreement with how everything felt just right. The consistent comfort and quality provided a sense of reassurance. The private bath in our room was exceptionally clean; we took a bath immediately upon arrival. The soft water soothed away all our travel fatigue completely. As for the meals we were looking forward to, every dish was carefully prepared with attention to detail and creativity evident in each one. The cuisine here is always as expected—simply outstanding! We ended up fully satisfied and delighted by the end of our meal. One minor disappointment was the champagne served by glass—it was a small portion and had lost its bubbles, which was quite unfortunate. The first drink is crucial as it sets an exciting tone for dining ahead; given how high-quality this accommodation is overall, offering half-bottles instead might be better if maintaining quality champagne by glass isn't feasible. This feedback may seem strict but comes from high expectations—please consider it! The next morning we used the large public Onsen bath; its location was stunning and offered blissful moments that felt like an escape from everyday life. Staying at "Fufu Hakone" in Gora—a renowned Onsen destination—was truly delightful for us! While about half of their guests seemed to be international visitors during our stay, I highly recommend this wonderful accommodation to more Japanese travelers as well! Let’s continue promoting tourism within Japan together! Though my support may be modestly small-scale—I will keep cheering on Fufu accommodations moving forward!

    The location, onsen,...

The location, onsen, room size, and cuisine were absolutely excellent. However, it was disappointing that despite being such a luxurious accommodation, there was no sense of hospitality. The driver who picked us up only explained that 70% of the guests are foreigners and did not give a warm impression even when we asked questions. At check-in and throughout the stay, most staff members were foreigners. While there were no issues with their service at all, I had hoped to experience Japanese-style hospitality. During dinner service, the staff were Japanese but seemed rushed while serving dishes; they cleared plates without noticing some food was still left on them. It felt like they were just trying to finish their tasks quickly, which made us feel uncomfortable as if we needed to be considerate of them instead. Although the facility and cuisine were outstanding, the lack of hospitality from the staff left an impression that this accommodation caters mainly to foreign tourists. If I had known this beforehand, I wouldn’t have set my expectations so high or paid this amount for my stay. The quality of the cuisine was truly exceptional.

    Thank you.

The Facility, bath, and service were all excellent. The meals were also delicious. However, there were so many main dish options prepared that the kitchen seemed very busy, and there was a gap between courses during the meal, which was unfortunate. For those who cannot eat much due to age and prefer smaller portions or quicker meals, it might be worth considering offering such an option.

Onsen, cuisine, and room are all excellent.

I stayed for one night with my mother. Since it was our first trip in a while, we chose this place to enjoy a slightly luxurious stay. It was an excellent facility that met our expectations. The large public bath had not only great water quality but also stunning views, and the room's private bath was spacious and allowed us to relax fully. The room was clean, comfortable, and perfect for unwinding while enjoying the view or reading a book. The meals were exceptional, and the hospitality of the staff was outstanding. Even the cleaning staff greeted us with smiles, making every part of the facility feel welcoming and pleasant. I would love to stay here again. Thank you very much!

Overall, it was disappointing. The room, including the onsen and amenities, was excellent. Some staff members provided attentive service, which was greatly appreciated. However, that seemed to be the only appealing aspect of the accommodation. While nothing offensive occurred, it felt underwhelming and did not meet expectations. Dinner lacked standout flavors and could only be described as average. Although it followed a prefix style menu, when my companion and I ordered different dishes, they were served at vastly different times, making it impossible to enjoy together. Some dishes even arrived completely cold. Additionally, I was surprised that no coffee or other drinks were offered with dessert—though a minor detail—it stood out to me. The staff member serving us during dinner appeared to do their best but created an uneasy atmosphere overall. When we requested non-alcoholic pairings for our meal, we were told to decide on the pairings ourselves—which left me questioning if that wasn’t their responsibility instead? The timing of these pairings also felt unclear. Furthermore—when trying ordering additional drinks—the lack of attentiveness made placing orders difficult. Lastly—and though this is very minor—I couldn’t help noticing one server wearing an Apple Watch with visible cracks; small details like these detracted from professionalism. Breakfast service by another team-member proved much more satisfying both food-wise & experience-wise: Traditional staples such as various small bowls alongside ochazuke (rice soup) tasted deliciously comforting while being thoughtfully presented amidst genuinely considerate hospitality shown throughout morning interactions! In conclusion: While visually impressive outwardly speaking—the substance beneath fell short leaving impression superficial-only unfortunately wasting potential seen amongst certain exceptional individuals working there! Overall disappointing stay

Newly built, excellent bath, great meals, with a touch of constructive critique.

The public spaces such as the lobby, dining area, and parking lot were slightly small, and the quality of the pike conger dish was not ideal. However, overall, I had a satisfactory stay. Although I reserved the smallest room, it was sufficient for my needs, and the in-room bath was adequately sized. Personally, I found the room wear too loose; it would have been nice if yukata were also provided.

Not a place I would want to visit again.

The first time I learned about Fufu was through an introduction video on social media. I had the impression that it was a luxurious accommodation with spacious rooms, a private atmosphere, and attached baths. This time, I happened to visit Hakone and made a reservation at Fufu Hakone, which I had been curious about. However, it did not meet my expectations. The meals were Japanese cuisine; while I have personal preferences and dislikes, everything was delicious. The room was spacious, and being able to use the bath anytime seemed like one of Fufu's features. However, I found the staff's hospitality and responsiveness disappointing. At the lobby, while they loaded our luggage onto carts after we unloaded them ourselves, there were many staff members who appeared flustered. There were delays in providing guidance on what would happen next or where we should go next, leaving us confused at times. Additionally, during meals, we had a main attendant who seemed new as they struggled with explaining the menu; we could hear instructions being given to them nearby as well—this caught my attention. While having foreign or new staff is understandable in any setting requiring service work like this one—it’s essential that necessary skills are acquired beforehand when interacting directly with guests. Having stayed at other luxury hotels before—I believe paying high prices comes down largely toward receiving attentive care from their team members above all else—and unfortunately felt this aspect fell short here during my stay at Fufu Hakone compared against those experiences elsewhere previously enjoyed elsewhere overall leading towards disappointment given how much anticipation surrounded visiting beforehand!

Rainy Hakone, even a small Room has charm and appeal.

Due to a last-minute reservation, we chose a smaller yet stylish suite. While the entrance and room layout are compact, the bathroom and vanity area by the window are spacious, offering a serene view of rain-soaked greenery through large openings. The room is clean with efficient amenities, meals are diverse with numerous carefully prepared dishes, and the service is perfectly balanced. This accommodation always provides a pleasant experience—one of our favorites!

    It was a wonderful accommodation.

This accommodation offers a perfect balance. The meals, rooms, onsen, and staff are all managed at a high level. As someone running a different business, I found it very educational. Personally, I loved the terrace hammock and relaxing chairs. I spent over three hours working on my laptop in the chair—it was so comfortable. A change in environment brought new ideas and helped me organize my thoughts. The garden was also beautifully maintained, allowing for a pleasant time. The meals were delicious dish by dish. Initially, choosing dishes in advance felt cumbersome but soon became enjoyable; I now prefer this system! Being able to select seasonal Pacific saury two days in a row was delightful. Although I don't drink alcohol, the non-alcoholic pairing option allowed me to enjoy dining at the same pace as those who do. The baths featured different hot springs for the large public bath and room bath. Visiting the large bath with its beautiful view was worthwhile, while I also enjoyed multiple soaks in the private room bath. The staff were polite and excellent overall. Many seemed to be of foreign nationality but provided attentive service with great effort—making my stay very pleasant. In these challenging times for securing talent, it seems they have implemented creative training methods (just my assumption). This trip was decided on short notice; however, I'd love to visit again for an anniversary or special occasion next time! Thank you—it was truly an amazing experience!

    It was a wonderful Hotel.

A good hotel truly offers exceptional service. I enjoyed a delicious herbal tea as a welcome drink, and the staff greeted me with smiles whenever we passed by, making my stay very pleasant. The hotel has a lovely fragrance. The room features Gora Onsen, while the large public bath uses Owakudani as its source, allowing guests to enjoy two types of Onsen. The food is also excellent and plentiful. You can even choose some dishes for dinner, which was very satisfying.

    Thank you for your patronage.

I visited Fufu Hakone for the first time. As expected, just like other Fufu properties, it provided a relaxing and comfortable space. The staff were very kind and attentive. As always with Fufu, the meals were delicious and did not disappoint. I have one request to make. There are foreign staff members who are still improving their language skills, but they are working very hard and doing their best. What I found disappointing was the way rice was served. During breakfast, when rice was being served into a bowl, it seemed like there might have been too much at first? The server used the rice paddle to repeatedly remove some of the rice from the bowl... This surprised me a little and left a negative impression. Please ensure proper training on how to serve rice appropriately.

I thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing Onsen experience.
