    We had a truly wonderful time!

    We visited Hakone for a family trip as big fans of Fufu. The many young staff members were quick and efficient, leaving a great impression. The food exceeded our expectations in both taste and portion size! It was also a feast for the eyes, and the prix fixe style where you can choose three dishes made it even more fun! I hesitate to ask for more, but it would be nice if crowding in the large public bath could be reduced, and if the Room had a balcony. Even so, our No. 1 Fufu so far is Hakone. We truly had a wonderful time—thank you very much!

    It was amazing!!

    This was our first stay at Fufu. It was a lively trip with our children, but everyone was kind and friendly, and we truly appreciated it. The meals were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The Onsen—both in our Room and the public bath—was wonderful; we soaked many times and our skin felt so smooth! The Room was spacious, and we were satisfied with every aspect of the service. Our children also said, “We want to come again!” and “That was so fun!” We will definitely return. Now we’d like to visit other Fufu properties as well. If you’re unsure where to stay in Hakone, I wholeheartedly recommend Fufu Hakone.

    The Room atmosphere ...

    The Room atmosphere and the bath were wonderful. However, despite it being for a birthday, it was disappointing that the checkout was handled where it could be seen right next to us, we were charged for different food and drink items, and ingredients we had said we could not eat were still included.

    A bit disappointing for older guests.

    It was a wonderful stay, but I felt it wasn’t quite the right fit for a couple over 70. It seems like an Accommodation more suited to younger guests. It didn’t have the rich, soothing satisfaction of a high-quality Onsen Hotel; instead, both the Accommodation and its guests felt focused on practicality and efficiency in many ways. There were many things that felt unusual during our stay, but setting the details aside, what we liked was that breakfast was delicious. What concerned us most was that there were no dedicated toilet slippers in the Room even though the toilet floor was very dirty. Also, the large public bath had no open-air bath or relaxation area, and it felt like an Accommodation designed around staying in your Room and enjoying its excellent facilities.

    We were extremely satisfied!

    No matter how many times I visit, it always feels so comfortable and relaxing. Thank you for accommodating my request for the Room with a view of the Daimonji, where I stayed before! This time as well, I thoroughly enjoyed both the bath in my Room and the large public bath, and my skin felt wonderfully smooth. The meals were absolutely delicious—I couldn’t finish all the rice, so they kindly made it into onigiri for me. The staff member who handled check-in left a very positive impression. I also enjoyed a pleasant conversation with the person in charge of dinner. The Room, Onsen, and meals were all excellent, and the hospitality from the staff was wonderful. My time at Fufu was truly comfortable. Regarding the Diamond member gift, it is always ume ponzu, so I would love it if there were a dressing option as well. (Fufu’s dressing is very delicious.) I will visit again!

    An Accommodation you’ll want to return to, no matter how many times you visit

    We had another wonderful stay. No matter which Fufu Accommodation we visit, we are always delighted by the consistently heartfelt hospitality and the truly careful, delicious cuisine. At Fufu Hakone this time as well, we were soothed by the warm welcome from all the staff and were able to enjoy a relaxing, luxurious time. An Accommodation that makes you want to come back—Fufu is still number one for me. This time, we also made use of a wonderful IKYU benefit, which made our stay even more enjoyable. I am truly grateful for this special opportunity. We will do our best in everyday life and look forward to coming back to Fufu again. Thank you very much.

    Celebrating my parents’ 60th birthday was the best!

    We stayed here to celebrate my parent’s 60th birthday. In conclusion, I’m really glad we chose Fufu Hakone for this special occasion. Among all the experiences, the meals were especially wonderful. Every seafood dish was fresh and extremely satisfying. They also accommodated my family member’s picky preferences with great flexibility—not just swapping out a single item, but preparing entirely different dishes—and I truly appreciate their genuine hospitality. Many of the staff were from overseas, but everyone worked politely and made us feel warmly welcomed. The Room also had a spacious bath where you can fully stretch out and relax while enjoying the view outside. My parent was delighted, and it became an unforgettable memory! We’ll definitely stay again!

    The bedroom air conditioner is really noisy.

    The bedroom air conditioner seemed to be broken and was very noisy. There was a fan placed from the living room toward the bedroom, as if they knew about it, with no explanation at all. Terrible response. I will never stay here again.

    Friendly staff service

    Thank you for your clear and helpful support in every situation. We were very satisfied with this Accommodation. - Dining area: We were slightly bothered by other guests’ voices (especially the loud voices of foreign guests). - Access to the large public bath was difficult (I had trouble walking due to a problem with my leg).

    It was truly wonderful!!

    The Room, the cuisine, and the Onsen were all wonderful—an outstanding Accommodation. Our child has a weak bite and cannot eat unless food is cut into small pieces, and they kindly accommodated our request. They even washed the food scissors and tableware we brought with us, and we were truly touched by their warm consideration. There’s nothing to complain about, but if I had to mention something, I’d like them to improve the outdoor washbasin—the water flow was low even at maximum. Also, I’d love for the shop to be better stocked, because I want to buy lots of souvenirs (haha). We would love to stay again!

    Hakone master 2

    I just love Hakone.

    I love Fufu Hakone and this was my fourth visit. The hot springs are wonderful, the staff are excellent, and the meals are great—especially the dashi, which I truly love. No matter how many times I come, I always want to return again. This may be a bit selfish of me, but breakfast doesn’t change much and I started to get a little tired of it. I’d be happy to see more variety on future visits. I’ll be back again after the New Year.

    It was an amazing stay that exceeded our expectations.

    After months of looking forward to staying at Fufu Hakone with my best friend, we arrived with sky-high expectations—and were warmly welcomed by the staff and the chic atmosphere that unfolds from the entrance. It immediately put us at ease, and both the Room and the Onsen bath were incredibly comfortable. As for the meals, I was truly moved—the combinations of ingredients I’d never experienced before, along with the colors and presentation, far exceeded our expectations. Everything was genuinely delicious. The next morning in the large public bath, I spoke with a woman who told me she had stayed at Fufu Hakone on a tour last autumn, and this time had come alone from far away. I was amazed—she said it took multiple transfers to get here. It even made me wonder whether I could travel that far on my own when I’m her age. Even so, she said she “wanted to come again,” and seemed very satisfied. I didn’t realize it until we actually visited, but this is an Accommodation with exceptionally high satisfaction. My best friend was also thrilled, and for us it felt like we were able to recharge our energy to do our best again starting tomorrow. All of the young staff members with wonderful smiles were full of energy; their speech was clear when they spoke to us, and it felt refreshing. Next time, I’d like to stay here with my daughter.

    50th Birthday

    I visited with my mother for my 50th birthday. The meals and the Onsen were flawless, and we were truly impressed. The spa was also amazing—an unusual fermented bath using hinoki and rice bran, which impressed us as well. We will definitely visit again. The coffee was excellent, so I would be happy if it could be offered as a welcome drink or left in a pot when we arrive at the Room.

    Fufu Hakone

    Everything was excellent. The service was even more impressive than when I stayed four years ago, and I was truly moved. When we couldn’t get a taxi, you kindly drove us to the conference venue. Even though the destination mistake was on our side, you still took us all the way to the correct location, and we made it to the conference on time—thank you very much. One minor disappointment: the rare filet steak at the teppanyaki restaurant was cold, so I rated it 4 stars. Also, when I set my car navigation using the phone number listed in the Reservation confirmation from IKYU, it directed me to “Fufu Atami,” and I arrived one hour later than planned. I regret not searching by address instead. Please verify that phone number.

    A Luxurious Stay

    It had been a little while since my last visit, but this is an Accommodation where I always feel at ease, and I really love it. Not only does the Room feel luxurious and impeccably clean, but the food is always delicious and generously portioned, and the service is on par with—or even better than—a top-class Hotel. I can confidently say it’s a place I can recommend to anyone without hesitation. As it’s a high-end Accommodation, I can’t visit often, but it’s somewhere I’d happily go every month if I could. I’ll do my best to make it back again soon. Thank you very much.

    The Facility was very satisfying, but on the other hand...

    Including Fufu Hakone, we have stayed at several Fufu Accommodations in other prefectures multiple times and have many good memories. This time, for our child’s first birthday, we made a Reservation for a larger Room than usual. While we were very satisfied with the Room and the Onsen, unfortunately we felt the staff hospitality was lacking compared with previous visits. The Room explanation felt rushed (with no conversation such as acknowledging that we had stayed before). When the bath mat was not replaced for quite some time and we called to check, we were told “It has already been replaced,” but it had not. There was also a billing mistake; even though we noticed it ourselves, there was not even a brief apology. Although we purchased multiple souvenirs, someone took them to the back without considering providing bags for carrying them out. Because we have always felt this is such a wonderful Accommodation, it was extremely disappointing. This may be because our expectations were high, but when the birthday cake was brought to our Room, no one offered to take a photo for us. At departure as well, once we got into the taxi that was simply the end of it—even though our child was trying to wave goodbye—which made us feel sad. Of course, there were also several staff members who were thoughtful and considerate. We hope staff training will help increase those kinds of interactions so that this Facility can become even better.

    No matter how many t...

    No matter how many times we visit, the attentive and comfortable service always puts us at ease. The bed and pillows in particular feel wonderfully enveloping. Both the open-air bath in the room and the large bath are beautifully maintained and very relaxing. The meals are truly, truly delicious. We have never before found an Accommodation we love this much. My husband and I both feel very happy.

    The bath was wonderful.

    I visited with a friend to celebrate a birthday. With our children grown and on their own, it was the perfect relaxing trip for just the two of us. The bath in our Room offered an amazing view in the morning, and soaking while listening to birdsong was wonderful. The large public bath had beautifully cloudy water—truly excellent—and the view was also outstanding. Every dish was delicious, making this an unforgettable trip. Thank you for your thoughtful Shuttle Service several times as well. My friend and I are already talking about staying at other Fufu properties too. Thank you very much for taking care of us.

    A wonderful Accommodation, anytime you visit.

    I stay here a few times a year. These days, Hakone has far more international visitors than Japanese travelers due to inbound tourism, but this Accommodation is always consistently wonderful. The Room is clean and relaxing, the baths are excellent, and the layout is designed with privacy in mind. I was able to spend my precious vacation quietly and at a leisurely pace. Dinner was also enjoyable, with a choice of main dish, and the menu changes with the seasons—truly nourishing and full of depth. Many of the staff are from overseas, but their courteous manner and attentive care make for genuinely pleasant service. I will definitely return.

    Complete the “Fufu” Collection in Eastern Japan

    I’m not usually a fan of writing Reviews, but I’m writing this as a keepsake. Since Nikko five years ago and now Hakone, I’ve been able to stay at eight “Fufu” properties (11 in total if you include Sekaie, Suishoen, and Kaihorou). Each one has its own character, and they are all wonderfully comfortable Hotels/Ryokans with what I believe is the best hospitality and service. Because of my age, traveling by car is difficult now, but if possible I’d love to visit Nara and Kyoto as well.

    Stay overnight for your annual visit to Hakone Shrine

    I stayed at Fufu Hakone in Gora, Hakone for a one-night, two-day trip—a place I’d been wanting to visit for a long time. The Room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. I was thrilled with the private Onsen bath in the Room. The bed was long enough and very comfortable even for someone tall like me. We had both dinner and breakfast at the main dining restaurant, Yama no E. Choosing three dishes for dinner was fun—we discussed and decided together as a couple. Both the taste and portions were extremely satisfying. Breakfast also offered a wide variety of dishes; I was especially impressed by the Saikyo-yaki grilled fish and rice cooked in an iron pot. We even enjoyed their special curry. The Room and cuisine were wonderful, but the large public Onsen bath felt a bit small, and for someone my age I would have liked to have had a sauna as well. We truly enjoyed a relaxing adult getaway. We will definitely return—thank you very much!

    We visited Fufu Hako...

    We visited Fufu Hakone on our honeymoon the year it opened. We were captivated by everything—the cuisine and the hospitality—and never forgot how moved we felt, so we returned for the first time in several years. On our first visit, the food left the strongest impression and stayed with us, but this time—perhaps due to the season—everything felt ordinary and nothing stood out. Because our expectations were high, we were disappointed. Breakfast was just as before: a wide variety of dishes, luxurious, and very delicious. We have stayed at many Ryokan, but breakfast at Fufu Hakone is the most lavish and tasty. The male staff member who assisted us at dinner was very pleasant, and his attentive service—along with some friendly conversation—made for a wonderful time. Thank you very much. At breakfast, a different male staff member served us, but he did not smile at all. While serving rice, he explained the dishes without looking up from it, which made it feel like an assembly line. That was disappointing; there was a noticeable difference compared with the dinner service. It may also be worth reconsidering having guests wait during check-in.

    The in-Room bath is ...

    The in-Room bath is excellent. Operations are streamlined, so there is minimal stress. However, both the Facility and services feel somewhat cheap compared with other Accommodations in the same price range, so it may be a bit disappointing if you expect a luxury Ryokan.

    Your First Fufu Stay

    I was a bit worried about my stay because no one was at the drop-off area when I arrived, but aside from that, everything was excellent—the staff training, the quality of the meals, and the Facilities and amenities. I’ll try visiting other Fufu locations outside Hakone. More and more luxury Ryokan operated by group companies are appearing, but I felt there is a significant difference compared with other companies in the same price range. After trying them all, I’ll come back to Hakone again.

    It was an excellent accommodation.

    This was my 10th stay with Fufu, and my first visit to Fufu Hakone. I have previously stayed at Kawaguchiko, Nikko, Atami, Karuizawa, and Kyu-Karuizawa, and once again the experience fully met my expectations. The meals in particular were outstanding—each dish was carefully prepared and highly satisfying. It left an impression on par with Kawaguchiko, which I have returned to many times. Also, when I contacted the hotel due to a misunderstanding on our side regarding the dining arrangements, the manager responded promptly and courteously, which was very reassuring. On the other hand, after taking photos at the entrance during check-out, a female staff member said to my child, “Please come back when you’re bigger,” which I found a little disappointing. As we were hoping to return again within this year, that comment lingered with me. That said, overall it was an extremely satisfying stay, and I would love to visit again.

    1st Anniversary Trip

    Our 1st anniversary trip. It was our first time staying at Fufu, and we arrived with high expectations. The service was truly top-level, and we felt genuinely well cared for. The food was among the best quality we’ve ever had. I think it would be nice to have a post-bath relaxation area just outside the large public bath. Other than that, everything was perfect. We will definitely stay again! Thank you very much to all the staff.

    We had a relaxing stay.

    Although we stayed for only one night, the 12:00 checkout allowed us to relax and take our time. It felt busy at check-in and in the restaurant, but once we entered our Room it was very quiet. The Room was spacious, and we were able to rest comfortably. We arrived by public transportation, and the Shuttle Service was smooth and very helpful. All of the staff were kind and attentive, though a few seemed still new to the job—please keep it up. If we have another opportunity, we would love to stay again. Thank you very much.
