    I had a wonderful ex...

    I had a wonderful experience. One night is not enough! I enjoyed reading books and relaxing in the bath in the room. The cute shop was very convenient for buying souvenirs. I wanted to visit the café on the hill, but I ran out of time... I'll definitely go next time! I had a fulfilling and luxurious time. I highly recommend a Multiple Night Stay for a more relaxed experience. I'll definitely come back again! Thank you so much.

    We stayed here as my daughter wanted to bring her children along. The grandchildren were thrilled to take a tuk-tuk from check-in to the accommodation. They enjoyed the ball pool and numerous picture books so much that time felt too short. The dinner restaurant featured projection mapping, keeping everyone entertained, and the adults were satisfied with the delicious meals. Except for some difficulty in contacting the front desk from our room, we had a wonderful time together, including the grandchildren. The grandchildren said they want to come back again, so we hope to revisit if we have another opportunity.

    The facility space was very clean and comfortable. Regarding the private open-air bath, the atmosphere was great, but personally, I found it a bit lukewarm. I knew that adjustments could be made upon request at the front desk, but it would be nice if temperature control were easier. The air purifier in the room had its filter replacement light on; it would be better if replacements were done proactively. As for meals, while I understand the focus on utilizing ingredients' natural flavors, there were some dishes with seasoning that didn’t suit my personal taste. It would be nice to have options for seasoning preferences. Overall, I enjoyed an extraordinary experience. Thank you very much!

    Accommodation to Experience the Town of Asama Onsen

    I stayed at Matsumoto Jujo, a place I had been curious about for some time. After check-in, the experience of riding a tuk-tuk from the reception to the room while touring the town of Asama Onsen was delightful and filled me with excitement from the start of my journey. The time spent feeling the breeze and admiring the town's scenery left a lasting impression, offering a sense of escape from daily life. The room featured an elegant design with a refined atmosphere that felt like stepping into an artful space. The carefully selected books seamlessly integrated into this natural setting were perfect, creating such a comfortable ambiance that I found myself quietly immersed in reading. The meals were absolutely delicious, showcasing gentle flavors made with local Shinshu ingredients that brought comfort. Even each dish at breakfast reflected meticulous care, leaving me completely satisfied. Overall, it was an accommodation where I could enjoy a thoughtfully crafted "special stay." I look forward to visiting again in another season.

    We stayed at the accommodation to celebrate a family milestone in spring. The room, bath, and bookshelf were all wonderful. The check-in process, amenities, drinks, snacks, and overall setup were delightful and made for an extraordinary experience. Dinner at 367 Dining was exceptional, featuring beautifully crafted dishes made with local and rare ingredients. The detailed explanations and warm service created a unique dining experience that cannot be found elsewhere. They even surprised our son with a message plate, making it an unforgettable memory—thank you for such a special experience!

    I stayed for three nights, and while breakfast and dinner were served with different menus each time, every dish was thoughtfully prepared without any compromise. The use of ingredients was partially consistent, but the quality and creativity were outstanding. The staff's natural hospitality left a lasting impression. Complimentary beverages and amenities were well-stocked. The bath featured natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source, with a moderate temperature. If you prefer hotter baths during unused hours, covering the tub helps maintain sufficient warmth. Overall, it was an experience that refreshed both body and mind.

    I stayed in a designer room. The room had a modern and playful atmosphere, which was nice. It was a room with an Onsen, and while the temperature felt lukewarm (around 38°C by my estimation), everything else was great. However, it was difficult to style my hair using the mirror in the room because it was too dark. I think better lighting from above or directly in front would make it easier to use. As for the food, overall, I didn’t find it very tasty. While I appreciate the effort to use less seasoning for health reasons and keep flavors light, there could be more creativity in enhancing the natural taste of ingredients while making them delicious. I understand how challenging this can be since I also usually eat healthy meals like brown rice, miso made from koji, vegetables, and fish at home—but this wasn’t about that kind of flavor difficulty; it just didn’t meet expectations. On the other hand, I’ve had meals prepared by Chef Kuwakino at your sister property Satoyama Jujo multiple times before and found them consistently outstanding. In fact, during previous stays at IZUMI of Satoyama Jujo for several nights, I enjoyed exceptional cuisine every time. Since Matsumoto Jujo is part of the same group as Satoyama Jujo properties, I hoped for similarly excellent dishes here as well. This is my honest feedback based on personal experience; however, preferences vary from person to person—thank you for understanding!

    Wonderful Hotel

    My son had always wanted to visit this Hotel. We checked in with oyaki and coffee, then walked to the bookshelf. Our Room was on the second floor, and the open-air bath was so relaxing that we used it multiple times. We went shopping twice at the neighboring Koyanagi select shop and bakery. Dinner featured nature-inspired dishes, and breakfast was also delicious. It was such a wonderful Hotel that we would love to visit again!

    We had the pleasure of staying at the luxurious Matsumoto Jujo for our family trip. From the nostalgic reception building, we were excited to enjoy chewy oyaki, champagne, and rich apple juice. A tuk-tuk was prepared for the shuttle service to the accommodation, which thrilled our family—why a tuk-tuk? The room featured an open bed and a cozy loft bed accessible by ladder. The selection of beverages and snacks provided was carefully curated and abundant. One highlight was the setta sandals; they were perfect for moving between bookshelves without having to repeatedly take off shoes—a thoughtful touch! Meals were served in a dining area with a warm ambiance created by flickering wood fire flames. Each dish came with detailed explanations from staff, allowing us to learn about Nagano's local culture and landmarks. Our children’s faces lit up with surprise or smiles as they tasted each dish—some featuring new ingredients or game meat—which were all truly delicious. In the early morning, we relaxed at Koyanagi-no-Yu Onsen located outside, followed by breakfast and time spent enjoying books from "Honbako," where each family member found their favorite spot. This onsen town accommodation has transformed from its former glory into a stylish haven filled with hope and charm. The staff involved in this transformation were all wonderful. If given another opportunity, I would love to visit again with my family or book-loving friends!

    The dinner course includes dishes like sake lees soup and rice porridge, offering delicious flavors that warm your body. Breakfast was also incredibly delicious.     I’ve become a fan of Jiyujin.

    I visited here because I had a great experience at Satoyama Jujo. The concept of revitalizing the Onsen town is wonderful. The hospitality was excellent, and it felt like everyone genuinely enjoyed working here. The meals were unique and very enjoyable. I would love to visit again and hope Asama Onsen becomes more lively!

    This was not my firs...

    This was not my first visit, but I enjoyed it just as much this time because the book selection and dining menu had changed. The presentation of the meals was beautiful, making it a feast for the eyes as well, and every dish was delicious. The carp had no unpleasant odor at all, contrary to my expectations, and the pork was tender. This time, I stayed in a Designer's Twin Room. The private study area was interesting, but the stairs to the second floor were quite steep and a bit scary to descend, so I think a Standard Twin Room would be sufficient next time.

    The shower had strong water pressure, which was great.

    I usually spend a lot of time on my phone, but during my stay, I hardly touched it. I enjoyed reading books, relaxing in the private open-air bath in the room, and spending peaceful moments. I was also delighted to find a new favorite book. The staff's hospitality was excellent, and their kindness was greatly appreciated. Although I felt nervous about trying course meals for the first time, thanks to the attentive care of the kitchen staff, I could enjoy delicious dishes at ease. The pairing of food and drinks allowed me to try various beverages, which was very enjoyable. It was such a wonderful hotel that one night felt too short! Thank you very much!

    It was a fulfilling time where I could experience an extraordinary feeling. The variety of snacks, juices, drinks, and coffee provided was abundant, and the Facility was very well-equipped, allowing for a comfortable stay. The Room's bath is an Onsen, where I could enjoy a luxurious time while gazing at the winter starry sky. The meals were also wonderful with a well-defined theme and satisfying volume. The temperature of the dishware and meticulous attention to detail were noticeable, allowing me to savor each dish thoroughly. It was delightful that the staff provided drinks according to my dining pace and adjusted portions considering my appetite. There were ingenious touches throughout the Facility that made me excited with unexpected discoveries every time. Since one day wasn't enough to fully enjoy everything, I would like to come back for a Multiple Night Stay with my family next time for an even more leisurely experience.

    We stayed with our 8-month-old daughter. In the tatami Room, she was crawling and pulling herself up the whole time. The Onsen temperature seemed just right, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her soak so happily before. She wasn’t interested yet, but there were plenty of picture books and toys in the Room and during meals, so we’d love to visit again when she’s a little older.

    I had a blissful experience.

    I stayed for one night with my daughter. We were excited even before entering the room, enjoying the welcome drinks of coffee and beer. Upon entering the room, we were moved by the sunset streaming through the window and immediately enjoyed the sunset from the open-air bath in the room. We also admired the starry sky and sunrise from the open-air bath. Having an open-air bath in the room is such a luxurious and wonderful experience! Dinner and breakfast were also excellent. The carefully thought-out dishes allowed us to savor the deliciousness of each ingredient. How fortunate the vegetables and meat must be to be cooked in such a way! I thought I might have too much time on my hands since there was no TV in the room, but after dinner, I soaked in the Onsen outside and enjoyed books and drinks in the lovely space, and before I knew it, it was midnight, and I felt like there wasn't enough time. The staff were all pleasant and kind, making it an exquisite two days that completely satisfied both my heart and body.

    Matsumoto Honbako

    I was very satisfied. I went with high expectations as it had been introduced in magazines and media before, and it was the best Stays experience. Enjoy local gastronomy at the wood-fired dining "367 (365+2)" [1 night 2 meals] x 2 people 1/3-1/4, tax included 114,578. The Room was very spacious, with a mix of Isosaki-style concrete and Onsen Property taste. Above all, there was a secret base-like place in the closet where you could retreat for reading, and a loft area, which was innovative and could be said to be the core of Matsumoto Honbako. The bed was also wide and comfortable to sleep in. There were also high-end speakers. There was a cypress bath Onsen on the balcony, and being able to enter the Onsen anytime and as many times as you wanted was good as an Onsen Property. As an outdoor bath, the local public bath-style open-air bath had a great sense of openness and was also good as an Onsen cultural experience. The core of Matsumoto Honbako. The children's Honbako is a picture book maze and ball pool renovated from a large bath, where you can return to your childhood, read picture books, or watch children having fun. The adult Honbako has a wide variety of books lined up, and it is the best to indulge in reading with Yogibo-like cushions in the retreat space. In the back book bath, I thought it would be difficult to take the books from above, but there was a trick. Here, there were valuable books that were fun just to look at, such as art books, photo books, overseas architecture, gardening, fashion, and movies, and I was soaking in the book bath. I regret not using the self-bar time, but I was immersed in the selected books in the Room. The fact that the selection of books is different for each Room is a clever touch. This selection provided an experience beyond imagination. The collection and display of the children's Honbako and adult Honbako are also major elements of an experience beyond imagination. Dinner was impressive with game meat and vegetables. The salty taste might be due to the game meat or Nagano? Including the open kitchen, it was fun, cherished local ingredients, and was delicious. Breakfast was Western-style and very filling, and I was full even past noon. Starting with welcome oyaki & drinks, I used a lot of hospitality-like services such as happy hour beer, the coffee server in front of the front desk, and snacks and drinks in the hallway. Asama Onsen was a mysterious place with a mix of book boxes, oyaki and coffee, philosophy and sweets, local souvenir shops, stylish shops, retro, closed businesses, and a dilapidated Onsen town. I went by bus and arrived in about 20 minutes without any problems (a bus that goes into Asama Onsen town might be more convenient).

    I stayed in a standard twin room with an open-air bath in December 2024, recommended by a friend. From the check-in process to the check-out the next day, every moment and space was of high quality, allowing me to relax completely. The staff's explanations and responses were very pleasant, making me strongly want to visit this property again. Here are three points I particularly recommend: 1. Onsen The open-air bath in the room was extremely pleasant, and I was able to enjoy the winter Asama Onsen while overlooking the snow-covered town. With potted plants and wooden lattices, there was no concern about being seen from outside. 2. Meals I savored dishes that made full use of Shinshu ingredients, highlighting the quality of the materials. Every meal was not only visually appealing but also perfectly seasoned, making even gamey venison and carp easy to eat. Breakfast was also abundant with additive-free juice, organic vegetable salad, homemade bread, and a grilled vegetable plate, offering dishes that were kind to both body and mind. 3. Library Space When it comes to Matsumoto Jujo, spending time leisurely reading books in the library space is the ultimate relaxation. In the evening, drinks and snacks are served, perfect for a break after concentrating on reading. The collection includes books that children can enjoy, making it fun for families as well. Spending time in the semi-private space with loved ones or partners, each reading their favorite book, becomes a wonderful time even without conversation. It is definitely a place I would like to visit again to spend a special day.

    I had a very luxurious time.

    We stayed at Matsumoto Honbako with our family of four during the New Year. Surrounded by various books, we were able to spend a very luxurious and relaxing time. We arrived at 3 PM, but regretted not arriving earlier to secure more time in the Honbako, as it was truly a wonderful space where time flowed beautifully. The Onsen in the room was also excellent with its natural hot spring water. We enjoyed meals with local ingredients and wine. The breakfast was slightly lacking, so I rated it 4, but I think it's a matter of personal preference. We definitely want to visit again.

    Highly recommended for families with children!

    We stayed at "Koyanagi" with my spouse and our 3-year-old son, and dined at the family dining "ALPS TABLE" located on the first floor of the same building. The room had a flat tatami floor, which was very safe and easy for our 3-year-old to play on. This room seems to be recommended for infants who crawl and elderly people who are concerned about their legs and back. The dining area on the first floor is also thoroughly designed for children, with many toys and projection mapping for entertainment, ensuring they don't get bored. Additionally, since the first floor is solely a dining area with no entrances or exits other than the elevator, we could dine with peace of mind knowing that even if our child wandered off, they wouldn't get lost. The food was very carefully prepared, and the adjacent Matsumoto Honbako (Matsumoto Honbako) bookshelf space was also wonderful, making the entire Matsumoto Jujo (Matsumoto Jujo) location a highly valuable experience. We would definitely like to use it again.

    A Ryokan where you can experience the charm of Shinshu

    It was a very wonderful Stays. The reception is held in a calm and lovely old house-style cafe, where they serve oyaki and drinks in between. The oyaki was chewy and very delicious. The Room was modern and chic with a sense of unity, and the lighting was dim, creating a relaxing space. There was a BOSE speaker, and it was nice to be able to listen to music according to the mood at the time. The open-air bath provided was at a perfect temperature, allowing for a long soak even in winter, and I was able to warm up from the core of my body while being enveloped in the scent of cypress. Upon arrival at the Stays, I first participated in a walking tour around the bathhouses, and it was great to feel the theme of regional revitalization of this Ryokan by walking through the historic streets of Asama Onsen. It was snowing, but the guide was considerate of the cold, and I felt warmth in their response. The food was also very impressive. The course using local ingredients from Shinshu only listed the ingredients used on the menu, allowing you to wait while imagining what kind of dishes would come. It was very exciting, and all the dishes served exceeded expectations in a good way, making it a course that could be enjoyed with all five senses. The bookshelf had a variety of books that you wouldn't get bored of even if you stayed for a day, and you could encounter genres of books you don't usually read. It's a wonderful space where you can get so absorbed that you forget the time. I had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

    Matsumoto Honbako Stay Diary

    Stayed at Matsumoto Honbako from November 25th to 26th. It had been a while since I stayed in a Room without a TV, and I appreciated its charm anew. I think this Property is basically for those who love reading. Drinks, snacks, and nibbles were plentiful both inside and outside the Room. Unfortunately, while the dinner was delicious with a focus on local vegetables and meats, the local wine was of low quality, and the pairing with the food was not great. Also, I wished the open-air bath in the Room was a bit larger. The staff's service was excellent, so I hope they can improve their knowledge of wine a bit more. I resonated with the desire to create a new accommodation space in Asama Onsen, which feels somewhat left behind by the times.

    Matsumoto Honbako was great!

    Matsumoto Honbako, a place I had wanted to stay for a long time. Books, regardless of genre, fill the shelves up to the ceiling, and I was surprised that guests could use the cozy little rooms, like hideaways, 24 hours a day. I wanted to spend more time in the book room, but I decided to save it for when I come alone next time. After 10 PM, some of the lights in the bookcase area dim, but the dim atmosphere after the lights go down was also nice. Before my stay, I had mentioned that it would be helpful to receive explanations of the dishes in writing, and during the meal, a document with explanations of the ingredients was discreetly placed alongside the menu, allowing me to enjoy the meal at my own pace, which made me happy. The staff also discreetly communicated important information via smartphone, and it seemed like all the staff were on the same page, as they responded with smiles and made me feel comfortable, dispelling the usual anxieties I feel at a property. The naming and building of the check-in place "Oyaki to Coffee" were also lovely. However, one thing that caught my attention was that the shower and bath in the room were separate. I wondered if it was difficult to create a design that would allow for a more integrated feel, like using a sliding door for the bath? Lastly, thank you for all the care during my stay. I look forward to visiting again!

    It was a trip as a gift. The meals and facilities are excellent at this hotel. The shared spaces, as well as the rooms, are lovely, and the private space was particularly nice. The meals use local ingredients and were so plentiful that we took some bread home. The books and townscape are the highlights, but there were so many places to see that one night wasn't enough to enjoy both.

    From check-in to check-out, I was able to spend my time being soothed by the smiles and pleasant service of the staff. The room was also clean, and although I usually have trouble falling asleep, I was able to sleep comfortably and soundly. Above all, the cuisine, centered around ingredients from Nagano, was enjoyable with its interesting presentation, and the wine selection was perfect. Thank you to the staff who made the selections. Next time, I hope to invite friends and enjoy a relaxing multiple night stay.

    The best Hotel experience

    This was my second stay. This time, the season was different from the last, so I was able to enjoy different scenery and meals. The bath in the room was always comfortable to enjoy, and all the staff provided pleasant service. During check-in, it was a bit busy (though not bothersome), but they were considerate about it, making the time spent not only with the facility but also with the service fulfilling from start to finish. The level of the meals was quite high, and all the service staff provided pleasant service, making the dining time fulfilling as well. The selection of books was also intriguing, with many interesting ones lined up, making it a perfect hotel for book lovers. I would like to visit again soon.
