    Stays during a cold wave arrival

    During the recent cold wave, I stayed at the property. To be frank, the interior was too cold. The room (Tateshina Club) was perfectly clean and well-appointed, but it was unnecessarily spacious, and the heating was not very effective. Although additional fan heaters were installed in the corridors and other areas, the walk of over a hundred meters to the large public bath left us completely chilled, and I think it would be better to close the private baths during severe cold. The environment was such that it wouldn't be surprising to experience heat shock. My spouse and I, who rarely catch colds, both fell ill after returning home. It's quite disappointing given how good the facilities are.

    For us, a couple who...

    For us, a couple who loves reading, it was a dream-like Stays. We chose a Room at Tateshina Club, and it was a comfortable and relaxing space. It was an incredibly luxurious time reading borrowed books by the fireplace while occasionally gazing at the snowy scenery. (Personally, I thought it would be nice to have an ottoman for long reading sessions.) The meals were plentiful both at night and in the morning on the first day, but on the second day, I felt they were slightly less. However, I was pleased that they provided completely different styles on the first and second days.

    Due to the off-seaso...

    Due to the off-season, I was able to spend a quiet and relaxing day within the Property. The Onsen in the Room was at a comfortable temperature, so I enjoyed it multiple times. The creatively prepared dishes using local ingredients were also delicious. Personally, I would consider staying at this Stays again.

    It is a good Ryokan ...

    It is a good Ryokan with various excellent elements, though not completely satisfying. It has a unique charm that makes me want to use it occasionally. Especially, the ingredients are carefully selected, and I think all the vegetables are surprisingly delicious.

    Everything is excellent.

    The service, facility, and meals were all outstanding. The concept is better described as a library with an Onsen, making it an irresistible environment for book lovers. I actually stayed for two nights and was able to enjoy my time without stepping outside at all. The bath is not large, but it has a very calming atmosphere. The meals were excellent, with a French-style dinner (intricately flavored and all delicious) and a morning vegetable buffet (I've never had such delicious radish before). If I were to suggest improvements: * It's unfortunate that there is no exchange between the men's and women's baths, so men cannot use the stone sauna. * It would be stress-free if meal times could be adjusted to be a bit more flexible. * The beef served in the French-style dinner had sinew and was difficult to chew. It might be better to cut it a bit thinner. * The mushroom risotto on the last day was already overcooked and in a mushy porridge state. * If you go for breakfast at 9 AM, some items in the vegetable buffet may be out of stock, and you have to ask for them (they were happy to provide them, though). * Coffee was included with breakfast on the last day, but not on the first day due to the Japanese-style meal. So, you have to order it in the lobby, which is a bit disappointing since many places offer it as a free service. It would be even better if filter coffee were available for free in a pot. These are really minor things, but I hope they can be improved. Overall, it was a wonderful hidden gem of a Ryokan that I almost don't want to tell others about, and I was able to relax very much.

    A hotel that looks like it could be in a movie

    The service, cuisine, facility, and environment... Everything is wonderful, and there's nothing to complain about. It's a hotel that makes you want to say, "Just go and see for yourself at least once." If you use it, I recommend a Multiple Night Stay.

    In the lightly snow-...

    In the lightly snow-covered landscape, crossing the bridge leads to a charming, long-established Hotel... Although I arrived early, the staff kindly welcomed me. I decided to stay this time, drawn by the 30,000 books in the collection, but 30,000 books in a Hotel? I visited with some skepticism, but indeed, along the walls of the lobby, books of all genres were beautifully arranged, and along the passage to the annex, Iwanami Bunko was packed tightly. I thought it was an irresistible Property for book lovers. The large public bath wasn't particularly spacious, but women could enjoy the adjacent stone sauna, and there was also an open-air bath like those in hidden hot springs (though it was quite cold in winter...), which was nice. The meals were delicious, creatively using plenty of local ingredients, and I finished everything! I ended up eating too much. Both dinner and breakfast were in a private room, so I could leisurely enjoy the meals while watching the snowy landscape through the window. My only regret is that one night wasn't enough time to read the books. It was a wonderful Stays that I would love to visit again.

    You can spend your time very peacefully.

    It was a wonderful Stays that made me want to visit again and stay longer, even though it was just for one night. The impressive collection of books, elegant antique furniture, the warmth of the fireplace, the aroma, and the picturesque view from the large windows. The comfort of the lobby lounge is outstanding. I also liked the perfectly balanced service. The meals, centered around local ingredients, were extremely delicious. I would like to visit again in a different season.

    Don’t forget to prepare winter tires and snow chains!

    I stayed on 12/7. The weather forecast for that day was cloudy, with no snow expected. I drove from Saitama via the Kan-Etsu Expressway, and after getting off I took the Amakai Mochizuki Line on local roads, which turned out to be a mountain route. While driving along the mountain road, light snow started to fall. As I continued—wondering if it would be okay—the snow gradually began to accumulate. Near Tateshina Farm, cars without snow tires were slipping constantly. Feeling it was dangerous, I took shelter in the Tateshina Farm parking lot. I arranged JAF assistance, but my planned arrival time at the Hotel had already passed. Thinking I needed to contact them right away, I called the Hotel. They kindly provided a contact point for arrivals after 18:00 and also kept my dinner seating Reservation secured. After arriving at the Hotel, they suggested moving my car in advance to a lakeside parking lot further down the mountain—and they even provided Shuttle Service to the parking lot just for me. I was truly impressed by how excellent and considerate the staff were. The interior of the building was also extremely well maintained and spotless, and the decor featuring antique books throughout was wonderful as well. The bathing Facility is not large, but the water quality is excellent. Even though it was only a one-night/two-day trip, I went to bathe four times. The meals also felt like creative cuisine by a top-class chef—everything was delicious and enjoyable. I brought my mother with me as a way of showing appreciation, and she was very happy too; we were both extremely satisfied. The next day there was snow around the Hotel grounds, so following the staff’s advice—and having moved my car earlier down to the lake—was definitely a good decision. In terms of Facilities, Onsen-style bathing experience, and staff service alike, everything felt first-class. It ended up being an incredibly satisfying trip overall. I would love to visit again.

    The Onsen is good.

    The atmosphere of the Stays and the Onsen were very good. I thought it was a small Property, but it turned out to be quite large, accommodating group guests as well. The building is old, but it has been renovated and maintained, making the Room and bath very comfortable. The Onsen had a soft quality, making me want to stay in it for a long time. The private bath was simple, which surprised me, but it was quiet and allowed me to enjoy the scenery and the scent of nature, which was excellent. Unlike the Room bath, it was lukewarm, so I could soak for a long time. As a request for the Room, it would be nice to have a bathrobe so that I can rest on a stool while enjoying the Onsen. The cuisine seemed to be French-inspired, but it felt too eccentric. The pickled onions accompanying the meat dish were sour and spicy, and the seasoning was generally avant-garde. The soup curry was too spicy to eat, which was unexpected for French cuisine. I understand that it was difficult to accommodate allergies and preferences due to the sudden Reservation, but it was disappointing that the dinner soup contained something I didn't like. (Probably fruits like figs were in it? If I'm wrong, I apologize.) *Other than the soup, accommodations were made. If olive oil is placed at the breakfast salad bar, I think it would be better to also have salt and vinegar. Even though there were group guests, the dinner service was very hectic and unsettling, possibly due to a lack of staff. It seemed difficult to take off and put on shoes every time entering and exiting the raised seating area. I saw staff unsure of which Room to deliver food to, leaving it in the hallway, and most dishes were served cold, which was understandable. Considering the deliciousness of the grilled meat and mushrooms, and the tasty chopped wasabi on the meat, it would be nice to have a Japanese cuisine option. Although the food rating is actually 2, considering the sudden Reservation and other factors, it's a 3. Even considering the Room rate, I would choose another place in the same price range. (Single use, 70,000 yen per night)

    Memorable Trip to Yatsugatake

    Thank you for your hospitality the other day. We enjoyed the library as if we were staying in one and had a relaxing two-night stay. Yatsugatake is a place we used to visit every summer vacation when our children were young. After 14 years, my husband and I revisited this memorable place. In the past, we stayed at pensions and were busy taking care of the children, but we finally got to stay at the Stays we had longed for. Our room was a corner Japanese-style room, spacious and clean, and above all, we were soothed by the scenery and the sound of the river. It was a little early for the autumn leaves, but on an early morning drive before breakfast, we saw a spectacular sea of clouds from the Onna no Kami Observatory, which is close to the Property, and we also encountered a family of deer along the way. At Shirakoma Pond, we were greeted by a stunning autumn foliage scene. We were worried that the food might be too much, but it was just the right amount for us. The ingredients were typical of Shinshu and delicious. We were also happy to have a little soba served. The private restaurant allowed us to hear the conversation of the neighbors well, but the view of the river was nice, and it was comfortable to use in samue. I used the women's open-air bath early in the morning and was able to relax while listening to the sound of the river. On the second night, it happened to be a supermoon, and a kind female staff member watched the full moon with us at the entrance, which made us very happy. After that, we were able to see the full moon from the open-air bath in the large bath and from the window of our room before dawn the next day. There were many guests staying for Multiple Night Stays. Many people enjoyed lunch in the library. As a souvenir, I bought a similar teacup to the soba choko used during meals at the shop, and I have been using it since returning home. Oh, and I purchased a few books that caught my interest in the library after returning home. But is it just my imagination that they moved me more when I read them in your library? Thank you very much for the wonderful time. My husband and I are talking about wanting to visit again. Please convey our regards to all the staff.

    Great value for money.

    This time, my wife and I stayed in a Japanese-style room at Seiryutei (5F). My wife checked in first using the property's shuttle bus, and I arrived past 4:30 (by private car). My check-in was also very smooth and pleasant. The temperature of the water in the onsen's large public bath and open-air bath was a bit low for me, and I would have preferred it a bit hotter, but the tatami washing area was very pleasant. The dinner was very satisfying considering the accommodation fee. Since it was Tateshina, I didn't expect seafood, so I was satisfied with the mountain-based dishes. The breakfast was similarly satisfying, especially the dried sweetfish, which was delicious. This time we slept on futons, but my wife mentioned she would like to try a room with a bed next time. We are considering visiting for about two nights next summer.

    Everything is a wonderful Hotel

    From the moment of arrival by car, the staff immediately came out to take the car keys and check us in. (They also carried our luggage to the room.) First, we were amazed by the lobby's atmosphere, overwhelmed by the sight of books. What a majestic ambiance. The room we were shown to, where we could hear the sound of the river, was calming. The onsen was comfortable. The temperature, the changing room, everything was impeccably clean. You can feel the staff's meticulous cleaning. Dinner was the best. A creative cuisine that beautifully arranged local ingredients. A balance of Western and Japanese styles. Visually appealing and delicious. Moreover, the selection of alcohol was impressive. Beer, wine, sake. All good selections were available. The plates on which the dishes were served reflected the property's sense of style, making us involuntarily hum in appreciation. This was true for breakfast as well. The second night's dinner was Japanese cuisine, which was also wonderful. High-quality dishes reminiscent of famous restaurants in the city. This property does not have anything as vulgar as a buffet. You can enjoy the deliciousness slowly and undisturbed in a private room. We stayed for a multiple night stay, and we were grateful for the preparation of lunch on the second day. With time on our hands, we spent it leisurely looking at the books available. The sophisticated service of the staff maximized our travel satisfaction. Everything here makes you absolutely want to return. Thank you. To everyone at the property, Please maintain this quiet and high-quality space. Noisy foreigners and rowdy people are unnecessary.

    I often go to Tatesh...

    I often go to Tateshina, but this was my first time using this place. Onsen is nice in the coming season, and it was quiet and pleasant. I will visit again to be taken care of.

    A nice and quiet Stays.

    Thank you for your hospitality. The property and the room were clean and comfortable. The onsen had both a private bath and a large public bath, both of which were relaxing and had great water. The meals featured a menu with plenty of ingredients from Nagano Prefecture, and the taste, quality, and quantity were satisfying. It was unfortunate that there was some confusion at checkout, such as mistaking other people's rooms and car keys, but it was a nice Stays that I would like to use again.

    I have used it sever...

    I have used it several times in the past. This time, I'll be a bit critical: The meals are the same kind of menu every time, so it's a bit lacking in freshness and I got bored. The room and some corridors smell like animals. It smells like cat urine. The hospitality and other aspects are wonderful, and I like this inn, so I have high expectations.
