    Girls' Trip for Two

    I have visited the Higashiyama area several times, and every time I passed by Fufu Kyoto, I thought about staying there. This time, I stayed with a dear old friend. The room was spacious, allowing us to relax and enjoy a wonderful time chatting. One thing that was a bit disappointing was that although the room had a window, it was frosted glass and could not be opened. It would have been perfect if we could see the outside scenery or autumn leaves. Next time, I would like to reserve a room with a view. Breakfast was delicious as we enjoyed it while admiring the autumn leaves in the garden. Thank you for your hospitality!

    The whole family was satisfied.

    We stayed during the perfect autumn foliage season and enjoyed the seasonal beauty within walking distance to Nanzen-ji Temple. The Room was prepared with yukata and zori, allowing us to immerse ourselves in a traditional Japanese atmosphere. Dinner was a Japanese course meal, featuring carefully crafted and creative dishes that highlighted the natural flavors of each ingredient—so delightful that we would love to return for another meal. Breakfast was also Japanese-style, served as a set with various small dishes, each offering its own unique taste. The white miso soup was exceptional. The bath was a private hinoki (cypress) bath attached to the Room, allowing us to relax at any time we wished. However, one downside for me personally was that while there were windows in both the Room and bathroom, they could not be opened and were frosted glass, so we couldn't let in fresh air or enjoy any view outside. Overall, our stay was very satisfying!

    Long-awaited stay at Fufu Accommodation

    We stayed together to express gratitude to my mother. We were given a very lovely room. Boiling water in the iron kettle, making tea, and enjoying sweets was delightful. The room's bath was relaxing and could be enjoyed multiple times. Dinner presentation was impressive, and breakfast was also satisfying. My mother was very pleased as well.

    Relaxed both mind and body.

    We stayed as a family of three. The reception area felt a bit small, but the Room was decent. The bath was slightly underwhelming, but the hinoki bath allowed us to relax. Dinner was very well-prepared and even satisfied me, a self-proclaimed gourmet. If given the chance, I would like to visit other locations as well.

    Thank you for an extraordinary experience.

    I was truly surprised and delighted to be guided to such a wonderful room. The bath in the room was an Onsen, allowing me to relax and experience something extraordinary. I didn’t want to leave... The dinner and breakfast were something I looked forward to, and they did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious autumn flavors during meal times. However, it was a bit disappointing that there seemed to be mosquitoes during dinner, as I got bitten and the itchiness lasted for several days. It would be great if there were measures against mosquitoes. The slightly warm floor in the washroom/dressing area was a thoughtful touch that made me happy. This time in Kyoto, my stay at Fufu became the main highlight rather than sightseeing, making it a very fulfilling accommodation experience. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

    The location is excellent, but...

    Stayed here due to its proximity to Nanzen-ji Temple. The entrance was narrow, and foreign visitors were gathered there, making it impossible for my car to enter, so I had to pass by. Dinner service took 15 minutes just to take a drink order, and the restroom was soaking wet. I ended up giving some advice about this. Despite notifying them of my checkout time and arranging for a car, a taxi suddenly pulled in, forcing me to awkwardly squeeze into my own car. While I had high expectations for the traditional Japanese atmosphere, the service felt overly procedural—probably won't return.

    The design and cuisine are outstanding, but unfortunately...

    The architecture, from the entrance to the room interior, is stylish, and even though it was just breakfast, the food was delicious and well-prepared. However, the service left much to be desired. While the initial welcome was good, it seemed understaffed and chaotic. Despite checking in on time, I had to wait 30 minutes for my room. The luggage I had entrusted earlier wasn’t delivered to my room as promised. Additionally, a taxi I requested didn’t arrive due to some trouble; while that can happen, there was little follow-up from staff. At the detached bar, slow service had been explained beforehand so that wasn’t an issue; however, when it started raining on departure day there weren’t enough umbrellas available—many guests ended up returning wet without one. Breakfast arrangements were also disappointing: although a table for 8:30 AM had been pre-reserved by hotel staff at check-in without consulting me, I needed an earlier time of 7:30 AM due to my schedule. This resulted in having breakfast served in-room at a small table instead of enjoying it with a view of the garden as anticipated. There was minimal shuttle service upon departure which felt below business-level standards overall. Adding further discomforts were noisy circulation pumps and ventilation systems in the bath area—likely signs of staffing shortages or system inefficiencies affecting operations here too—and while staff appeared overworked with little leeway themselves (eliciting sympathy), this experience has made me question whether other properties under this brand are similar moving forward despite their sense of style being commendable otherwise—I hope improvements will be made!

    Relax and unwind

    The entrance was a bit hard to find when arriving by car. Once inside, we were warmly welcomed and guided with great care during check-in. The room, meals, onsen, and bedding were all absolutely satisfying. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious. The private bath in the room was spacious, and opening the window allowed a refreshing breeze to create a relaxing atmosphere. The bed was extremely comfortable, allowing for a restful sleep that left us feeling refreshed in the morning. This is an accommodation I would love to stay at again during my next trip to Kyoto.

    A Truly Wonderful Accommodation

    This was my first time staying at Fufu Kyoto, and I had been looking forward to it as it was an accommodation I always wanted to visit. In one word, it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived at the accommodation, the check-in process, guidance to the room, the room itself, and even the bath were flawless. During dinner, there were a few dishes with ingredients I am not fond of, so I left them uneaten with some regret. However, a staff member kindly inquired about my preferences and even checked for any dislikes for breakfast the next day—thank you so much for your thoughtfulness! Unfortunately, I didn’t catch her name but she was a young and lovely lady. The next morning’s breakfast was incredibly delicious. At checkout time, they offered to bring our luggage from our room—a first-time experience for me—which made me very happy. I have stayed at many accommodations and hotels before but have never encountered such perfection as Fufu Kyoto. Thank you to all of your staff members—I would love to stay again!

    Onsen and cuisine are exceptional.

    We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast, and they were absolutely delicious and satisfying. The Onsen in the room was very relaxing, and the room itself was spacious, stylish, and comfortable. We definitely want to stay here again. One thing that caught my attention was during breakfast service in the room. I visited with my mother, and while I understand it might have been meant affectionately, someone referred to my mother as "grandma." While she is indeed elderly, she is my mother, not my grandmother, so I would have preferred if she had been addressed as "mother" instead. That said, we had a truly wonderful time. Thank you very much.

    We recently stayed a...

    We recently stayed as a couple for the first time in a while, adjusting to our child's schedule. Previously, we had visited another accommodation by Fufu, but this was our first time in Kyoto. Overall, we felt that the other accommodation was better. The staff at the entrance and the foreign staff at the restaurant were wonderful; however... we were unsure about the roles of some of the room and restaurant staff. We didn’t have further interactions with them afterward, so it remains unclear. That said, we enjoyed delicious meals and pleasant service, making it a good experience overall. Additionally: Perhaps due to staying in a lower-grade room? Watching movies on TV while lying down was difficult because certain decorative panels or doors in the room couldn’t be moved. We ended up watching from the sofa instead. However, since it was a small sofa unsuitable for long periods of sitting and there wasn’t an ottoman provided, we had to improvise by placing cushions on items like trash bins in the room—this was disappointing. While preferences vary among guests regarding how they spend their time indoors, having something like an ottoman would be appreciated. Also: We were informed that towels could be replaced upon pressing a button to notify staff; however, no replacement occurred despite this communication... While there wasn’t an issue as we had enough towels available anyway—it would have been nice if replacements were made when such services are mentioned. That being said: The onsen water quality used for baths was soft and very pleasant! We managed to relax and enjoy our stay leisurely overall. Thank you very much!

    We had a relaxing stay.

    I stayed in April 2024, and while the accommodation was still relatively new, I found the service and meal timing disappointing. The atmosphere was noisy due to many inbound guests, and the meals were not particularly delicious. Having had a great experience at Fufu Atami, I was disappointed by how different Fufu Kyoto felt. This time, I opted for breakfast only (served in-room) and went out for dinner. The breakfast was very delicious, and I enjoyed it at a relaxed pace. Since the manager previously mentioned that changes had been made to improve the experience, I decided to stay again. The onsen was excellent, and its convenient location (as I'm based in Hyogo) makes it easy to visit again. However, during my stay this time, children's crying at night disturbed my sleep multiple times. It would be appreciated if room assignments could be considered more carefully regarding noise levels. Additionally, it would be nice if dinner could be enjoyed comfortably within the hotel. Lastly, I think having a chair in the bathroom would be helpful (though space might be limited). Many women likely do their makeup there; standing while applying makeup can feel tiring. There are still areas for improvement; however, I look forward to seeing this accommodation become even more wonderful in the future!

I usually don't write hotel reviews, but both Fufu Nara and Fufu Kyoto offer top-notch service. The dinner was thoughtfully crafted with a seasonal touch, and each dish featured exquisite flavors and premium ingredients that I thoroughly enjoyed. Additionally, they kindly accommodated a complimentary late check-out, always prioritizing guests' needs. I also purchased some of the hotel's skincare products, which had a delightful fragrance, and truly appreciated the small gifts they provided. It was an extraordinary experience filled with wonderful memories. My heartfelt thanks to all the staff!

    I visited Kyoto Fufu. I have been enjoying visiting Fufu accommodations across the whole country, having stayed in places like Hakone, Karuizawa, and Nara. Each hotel always offers impressive hospitality and provides a truly luxurious stay. At Kyoto Fufu as well, I was deeply moved by the heartfelt service and refined atmosphere, allowing me to spend a special time. I look forward to visiting more Fufu accommodations across the whole country in the future.

    Exceptional hospitality.

    Last year, I had a very comfortable stay at Fufu Hakone, so this time I chose to stay at Fufu Kyoto. The meals, featuring seasonal mushrooms, were absolutely delicious. The hospitality was exceptional, as they kindly substituted raw ingredients for my pregnant daughter with alternative options. They also accommodated our special request for a memorial cake, allowing us to enjoy a truly special moment. The cake was also incredibly delicious. The 24-hour accessible hinoki bath was wonderful as well. I look forward to visiting again in the future. Thank you for your excellent service!

    Extended Stay

    Extended stay in Kyoto due to meeting someone. Had to switch from a double room to a twin room after two days, but the staff coordination was poor, leading to repeated questions and time loss. The staff at Fufu Kyoto could improve their communication and training, especially compared to the excellent teamwork at Fufu Nara. Foreign staff members were occasionally exceptional at Fufu Nara despite minor mistakes. Dinner on the first and third nights was good, though fish-heavy. Breakfast on the first and second days was delicious, with perfectly cooked rice on the second and third mornings using a clay pot—an enjoyable experience. The Onsen temperature in the double room was perfect, but it was too hot in the twin room, requiring water adjustment which felt disappointing as I prefer not to dilute natural hot spring water. For one person or even two people, I recommend staying in a double room for its spacious layout and comfortable sofa. A major downside during dinner each night was crying babies disrupting an otherwise serene kaiseki dining experience. This happened all three evenings (even weekdays), which significantly detracted from relaxation and enjoyment. The accommodation should consider policies like separate areas for families with babies or restrictions during dinner hours. For future stays, I might opt for breakfast only or have meals served in-room instead of dining at their restaurant due to this issue. As a Diamond member benefit suggestion: offering takeaway gifts earlier would be appreciated since travelers may want them shipped along with other items rather than receiving them upon departure. The rooms are generally dimly lit with no remarkable views; however, its location is convenient—within walking distance of Heian Shrine and Kyoto Zoo as well as close proximity by car to Shimogamo Shrine or Kifune Shrine. Ideal for those visiting temples/shrines around Kyoto! Overall impression: If staying again here specifically—it would likely depend upon availability within their double rooms!

    Fufu Accommodation is my favorite. In Kyoto, everything including the room, hospitality, service, and meals was excellent. It would have been even better if there were a lounge or salon to relax outside the room.

    First stay

    Fufu Nara was excellent, so I was looking for an accommodation with an onsen in Kyoto city, but such places are rare. The location of this accommodation was convenient for me. It is within walking distance to Heian Shrine and close to Yasaka Shrine (though it’s quite a walk unless you have a car). Since my trip focused on visiting temples and shrines, the proximity to Shimogamo Shrine, Nanzenji Temple, and Kibune was ideal. The Kyoto Zoo is right in front (I’d like to visit next time), and there’s also a convenience store within walking distance. However, the staff seemed uncoordinated as they asked me the same questions multiple times. The room felt dark with poor views from the window; overall, it was small and not user-friendly. A double bed room would be better as the twin room felt very cramped and inconvenient. During my extended stay, I found blonde hair scattered on the floor that stuck to my slippers... Also during my extension stay, one of the female staff mistakenly called me by another name. The coordination among staff members at Fufu Nara is much better compared to here. The meals were delicious with portions that suited me perfectly. However, on the first day at dinner time, a foreign staff member explained about dishes but I couldn’t understand anything they said—it seems foreign staff training here needs improvement compared to Fufu Nara where even foreign staff could explain kaiseki cuisine well without discomfort. Japanese guests may prefer being attended by Japanese staff due to cultural nuances—this aspect stood out more here than at Fufu Nara where service felt seamless regardless of nationality differences among employees. Tea wasn’t served promptly unless requested repeatedly which detracted slightly from dining experiences though one young Japanese female employee originally hailing from Oita provided exceptional service throughout dinner sessions making up somewhat positively amidst other shortcomings encountered elsewhere across operations overall speaking generally summarizing impressions gathered firsthand     It was a comfortable stay.

    I walked to the accommodation, and the staff at the entrance warmly welcomed me from afar. The check-in process was thoughtfully arranged to ensure privacy, and the guidance to the room was both polite and smooth, making even the time leading up to entering the room enjoyable. I stayed in a Comfort Twin Room (for 3 people), which had comfortable beds and a cozy living area. The minibar was well-stocked, and I thoroughly enjoyed the onsen in the room, losing track of time while relaxing. Dinner exceeded expectations for its price—highly recommended! A dedicated staff member attended us with detailed explanations, allowing us to enjoy not only delicious food but also a wonderful atmosphere. For breakfast, we opted for in-room dining. Using the room's IH stove allowed us to enjoy warm soup bowls while savoring a leisurely morning together in private comfort. Towels and soft drinks were promptly delivered upon request, and I was very satisfied with all of the staff's attentive service. The only regret I have is that our room was so comfortable that I forgot to visit the bar after dinner (realized it past 11 PM…). Next time I stay here, I'll make sure not to miss it! Thank you so much to all of your staff for providing such a pleasant experience!

    To Kyoto, where the lingering summer heat persists.

    As the car turned right with Heian Shrine in front, the southern sky began to darken, and soon thunder and heavy rain followed. Fortunately, we checked into the Hotel without getting wet. When guided to our Room, it exuded elegance and a sense of refinement. After a refreshing soak in the semi-open-air bath in our Room, it was time for dinner. We indulged in Kyoto's exquisite flavors and spent a timeless evening. This day marked 36 years of marriage, creating yet another cherished memory. We decided we would visit again as we drifted into a deep sleep. Thank you very much!

    Mostly satisfactory.

    The food was delicious, the bath was clean with perfect water temperature, and the garden was beautiful. A few details to note: The bathrobe was one-size-fits-all, but as I am petite, I had to roll up the sleeves three times to make it fit. Additionally, the tea served during meals wasn't very tasty (which surprised me considering it's Kyoto). On a positive note, the sake was smooth and enjoyable; however, I felt that the domestic wine could have been selected more carefully for better quality.

    Your Favorite Fufu

    This was our third visit after Hakone and Nara, and as expected, Fufu Kyoto was an excellent accommodation overall. The guest room was spacious enough to relax comfortably, and the private bath had the perfect temperature, which we enjoyed multiple times. The meals were flavorful for Kyoto cuisine, which suited my taste perfectly, leading me to overindulge a bit. However, I always look forward to the seasonal kamadaki rice served at the end of Japanese meals at this group's accommodations. This time it featured corn and root vegetables mixed with butter; while unique, it felt a bit heavy after just one serving—this was slightly disappointing. The service provided maintained a pleasant balance of attentiveness without being intrusive. In particular, the Myanmar-born butler who served us during dinner explained each dish in earnest Japanese despite some hesitations in speech—it was endearing and left a very positive impression on us. We visited during a period of lingering summer heat and could only do limited sightseeing in Kyoto this time around. We look forward to visiting again when we return to Kyoto!

    For a special getaway, I chose to visit "Fufu Kyoto" this time. From the entrance to the interior, Room, and dining areas, everything was free of unnecessary elements, creating a calm atmosphere where I could truly relax. The meals I had been looking forward to were exquisite—featuring Kyoto ingredients, seasonal produce, and rare items—all prepared with care and refined seasoning. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. They use an abundance of ingredients that represent the flavors you’d want to experience in Kyoto. The STAFF provided attentive yet natural service that made me feel at ease even though I was traveling alone.
