    This is a Hotel I would happily stay at again.

    We would have appreciated smoother meal service. There was a period of about 10 minutes with nothing to eat, so we asked the attendant. However, the gaps were too long, and we ended up feeling full and left some of the later dishes. The food was delicious, so it was disappointing. The bed mattress sank quite a bit around the lower back area. The Onsen in the Room was wonderful and made us very happy. The water felt like lotion. It was an Onsen we would like to use again. Overall, our satisfaction level was high on average. Thank you very much.

    We had a very satisfying stay.

    This was our second repeat stay. We originally made a Reservation for two nights, but due to heavy snowfall the surrounding roads became difficult to pass. Many cars got stuck and couldn’t move, so we extended our stay at short notice and stayed three nights. This time we booked a Room with a semi-open-air Onsen bath, with two meals and an all-inclusive plan. For two full days in between, we enjoyed the Onsen as much as we liked, along with drinks in the lounge and alcohol at dinner. The staff were kind, the food was delicious with just the right portions, and we were extremely satisfied with our stay. In particular, we were very impressed by the thoughtful care and quick response of the General Manager overseeing operations. The General Manager also oversees another Hotel. When we stayed at that other Hotel last month, I casually mentioned that because the semi-open-air Onsen bath in Mori no Izumi has some depth, it would be helpful to have a step for getting in and out. They remembered this and had it prepared for us this time—an outstanding example of hospitality and prompt action that truly moved us. We have already made Reservations for our next stay as well, including their affiliated Hotels.

    We had a wonderful time.

    The day before our stay, we received a call informing us that the Room we had reserved with an open-air bath would be changed due to an air-conditioning issue. We had been really looking forward to it, so we checked in feeling disappointed. However, the new Room was comfortable, and the bath was wonderful—we were able to relax and unwind. Thanks to the thoughtful care of the Hotel staff, our trip to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday became a memorable one.

    The Room’s free-flowing hot spring bath is exceptional.

    Perhaps because a great Plan was available, the Shuttle Service bus was unusually full, but after check-in I was able to enjoy the usual elegant time. Dinner this time did not include fresh wasabi; instead, it came with an unusual oyster dish and delicious beef shabu-shabu, which was wonderful. I wonder if you prepared a menu for Multiple Night Stay guests so it wouldn’t be the same as last month’s. It was another wonderful stay. Thank you very much.

    We were able to enjoy our meal in a calm, relaxing atmosphere.

    Many Hotels I’ve stayed at recently offer buffet-style dining with plenty of options, but it still doesn’t feel very relaxing. At this Hotel, I was able to enjoy my meal slowly while seated, which was great. It was advertised as all-inclusive, but the available hours felt somewhat limited. There was no café au lait option with the coffee, so I thought it would be nice if milk were also available near the coffee station.

    We stayed as a couple to relax with a long soak in the Onsen. The Facility isn’t new, but it’s well maintained, charming, and very calming. The meals were delicious, with both quality and quantity more than sufficient. Best of all, the all-inclusive plan made the drink in the lounge after arrival and the post-bath beer truly exceptional. We also enjoyed Shizuoka’s local green tea shochu with our meal, and as the Reviews said, it was an Accommodation that felt like an excellent value.

    We were looking forw...

    We were looking forward to our stay as part of a birthday celebration, but there were many disappointing aspects. At the time of reservation, we informed the staff about our preferred shuttle service check-in time and that one of our party members had a shellfish allergy. However, information regarding the shuttle service was not shared among the staff, leading to inconsistent explanations during phone calls and at check-in. Despite making a reservation for the check-in shuttle one month in advance, we were informed six days before our stay that "14:20 is fully booked and unavailable," and we were asked to change the time. Additionally, when we called back to confirm details, previous conversations had not been recorded properly, resulting in us having to repeat ourselves multiple times. Due to adjusting the pick-up time for check-in, we arrived later than planned. Concerned that this might put us at a disadvantage for securing a spot on the first-come-first-served basis for checkout day’s shuttle service reservations, I called ahead. I was told over the phone that "it’s not by reservation; guests are guided based on their arrival order at the lobby" and that "even if you want 10:00 departure timing on checkout day morning—arriving early in the lobby should suffice." However upon actual Check-In process instead got conflicting info saying “already too many requests exist around 10am slot” thus only option left meant station-arrival delayed till ~10:40 timeframe ultimately unable-to-select desired-timeframe! During dinner-time meal arrangements pre-notified Shellfish-allergy wasn’t accounted-for raising safety concerns significantly uncomfortable experience overall dining-wise... Outdoor bath area lacked privacy since standing up exposed viewable directly from nearby roadways where vehicles passed-by frequently hence couldn’t relax-enjoy usage peacefully either unfortunately! Overall impression felt lacking adequate communication coordination advanced guidance attentiveness missing throughout entire experience especially given special occasion nature celebrating Birthday trip expectations unmet leaving deeply disappointed sincerely hope future improvements implemented benefiting others planning stays moving forward!

    The Taste of Time and Space

    Thanks to the season, it was not very crowded, allowing us to enjoy a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. The building was photogenic from various angles, including the lobby, lounge, hallways, courtyard, and outdoor pond. Both dinner and breakfast featured thoughtfully crafted menus, and the restaurant had separate rooms for a calm ambiance. The furnishings, amenities, and service were impeccable. In the afternoon, enjoying a drink in the lounge while gazing at the scenery outside helped us forget everyday worries. The Onsen was spacious and clean; even the sound of wind at night added to its charm. For an elderly couple visiting while still active enough to travel, it became an unforgettable experience filled with joy. Thank you very much!

    The temperature of the open-air bath is...

    We were looking forward to staying in a Room with an open-air bath, but the water temperature was only lukewarm. Since the system automatically controls the water flow, we couldn't adjust it ourselves, which was very disappointing. When we informed the staff the next morning, they confidently stated, "The temperature is regularly checked, so that shouldn't be possible," which made it even more disappointing. We don't think we will visit again.

    It was a truly satisfying trip!

    I stayed at this hotel during a long-awaited trip with my female friends. The shuttle service from Kawana Station was very helpful. The driver, front desk staff, and dining staff were all friendly and left a great impression. Dinner was a kaiseki meal, which was absolutely delicious. It was visually stunning and satisfying in both quality and quantity! The individual clay pot rice seemed like it might be too much, but I ended up finishing it all. Additionally, we could enjoy as much alcohol or soft drinks as we liked, which paired perfectly with the delicious food (laughs). Breakfast was a Japanese set meal, with the grilled horse mackerel being particularly flavorful and fatty—it was excellent! While the portion size seemed just right for women, adding some fried items might make it more appealing for men. The hotel itself is a charming retro Western-style building that I found very lovely. The room was spacious and comfortable to stay in. One thing I really appreciated about the bed was that the sides of the duvet were not tucked in tightly like they often are at other accommodations; this made sleeping much more comfortable without feeling constricted when turning over. Although I loved everything about the room overall, one small downside was that the bathroom sink drained slowly—water would remain for some time after use, so I tried to use less water when possible. Perhaps this issue only affected our particular room? Overall though, this is truly an exceptional accommodation where satisfaction is guaranteed! I will definitely stay here again!

    Room with a private open-air bath is preferred.

    I chose a room with an open-air Onsen so I could enjoy it anytime. The bath was perfectly sized to stretch my legs, and the water temperature could be adjusted, which was very satisfying. It was a lovely Hotel with a calm atmosphere where you could truly feel the tranquility of the forest.

    The meals and bath were very satisfying. There was also a flute concert on the day, allowing me to relax and forget about work for the first time in a while. I truly appreciate the wonderful event and the performers.

    The food was delicious, and we had a relaxing time.

    We stayed as a group of four female friends. Drinks were inclusive, and the food, especially the fish, was delicious. The sashimi was fresh, and the dried fish had just the right amount of saltiness with tender texture. Unlike usual stays, the futons were already laid out at check-in and were mattress-type, so they couldn't be folded up. As a result, we couldn't sit around a low table for chatting (though this wasn't particularly an issue for us). The staff provided very polite service, and overall we had a comfortable stay. Thank you!

    Free drinks are amazing!

    The lounge's free drinks had a wide variety, and I used it several times. It was great. The open-air bath was surrounded by trees, creating a nice atmosphere. There were even squirrels in the trees! The meals were just the right amount and delicious. The Room was clean, and I could relax comfortably. It was a Hotel that makes you want to visit again.

    The bed in the guest room was very hard, and there were dead bees in the private open-air bath. The attitude of the front desk staff was also somewhat unpleasant, leading to many disappointing moments overall. While it’s not fair to expect the quality of other top-tier Hotels, it felt like a "this is about what you get" level experience.

    Japanese-Style Room with Open-Air Bath

    This was my first time staying at Mori no Izumi, drawn by the room with an open-air bath. Thank you. I was very satisfied with the open-air bath. Plenty of towels were provided, the bath was clean and spacious, allowing me to soak whenever I wanted and fully enjoy a relaxing experience as planned. I was looking for a hotel that offered relaxation not found in urban city hotels—somewhere without crowds or noisy children running around, where adults could spend their time quietly. While it lacked flashy modern features, this hotel met my expectations perfectly. There were thoughtful touches throughout the property—small considerations that made me feel the hotel's attentiveness. As a guest, these little discoveries truly reflect the hotel's approach to hospitality. Lastly, regarding customer service: The front desk staff on our arrival day seemed uncertain and somewhat inattentive. While I wasn’t expecting five-star luxury service, this aspect felt slightly lacking overall. However, during our final shuttle service, the driver’s considerate assistance ensured smooth transportation. It seems there may be some variation depending on individual staff members.

    The food was delicious!

    When I tried to set the destination on the navigation system, it couldn't be found (even though it's an old Hotel, why?). So I searched for a nearby location using the address search and got quite lost. The Room is spacious and comfortable enough to relax. However, since the floor is fully carpeted, some large stains here and there were a bit concerning. On the other hand, the stairs are gentle and easy to use, and the hallways are designed very spaciously. In addition, at the free lounge, there were two rocking chairs available. When I visited in both the evening and morning, I was able to use them each time. While gently rocking back and forth, I enjoyed wine at night and coffee in the morning. The most impressive part was definitely the food. Dinner was kaiseki cuisine; each dish was carefully prepared with great effort and tasted amazing. Instead of serving rice at the end as is common with kaiseki meals, each person had their own pot of freshly cooked rice that could be eaten whenever ready—it was a nice touch! The rice itself was premium Koshihikari brand rice and incredibly delicious. For breakfast—unlike most Hotels nowadays that offer buffets—it came as a set meal which allowed me not to overeat. It included freshly grilled horse mackerel fillet (aji no himono) along with customizable ochazuke (rice with dashi broth), making it very satisfying overall. Considering this price for such quality content makes it highly cost-effective! By the way, since I never enter Onsen anywhere I go, I'm unable to evaluate it but gave it a 5 anyway.

    Breakfast is...

    This was my second stay. I was satisfied with the pick-up service from Kawana Station, check-in, the large public bath, the semi-open-air bath attached to the Room, and dinner. However, it was disappointing to feel the delay in breakfast service and staff frustration due to a lack of manpower. Other than that, everything was excellent.

    The Onsen in the room is amazing!

    We stayed with our 0-year-old baby. It was relaxing and reassuring to enjoy the onsen in the room. The beds were connected, allowing us to sleep together with the baby. The all-inclusive service encouraged us to enjoy drinks, but since the food was so delicious, I personally wished there were more sake options on the menu. The door of the private bath in the room had a poor fit, and the loud noise when opening and closing it woke the baby, which was a bit of a downside. The hotel had a beautiful exterior and was very impressive.

    Everything except the lounge was satisfactory.

    We stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The facility was excellent, and the cleaning was thorough. Although there were some issues that required us to change rooms, the staff's response was excellent, allowing us to enjoy a pleasant stay. Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious and enjoyable. However, the lounge was disappointing as it differed significantly from the images on IKYU.com and the official website—almost to a misleading extent. Although it stated a 3:00 PM opening time, by 3:30 PM, the beer (actually low-malt beer) server remained covered, and empty wine bottles were scattered around. There was no popcorn machine or detox water as shown on the website; even coffee machines were absent—it was instant coffee instead. The local Shizuoka sake mentioned on the homepage wasn’t available in the lounge either, which left us feeling disappointed. Most of the staff provided excellent service, meals were wonderful, and facilities overall were great; however, this aspect of our experience felt truly unfortunate. I strongly recommend either improving these services or updating your website to reflect reality so that future guests do not feel similarly disappointed. We requested shuttle service from Kawana Station both ways and received very polite driving and assistance—thank you for that! However, during check-in we were warned about potential delays due to high demand for shuttles upon return since they operate on a first-come-first-served basis when busy—but in reality we ended up being alone on our ride back! This caused unnecessary anxiety about missing our scheduled train home despite arriving early just in case—which turned out unnecessary after all. It would be appreciated if reservations could be implemented for shuttle services so guests can feel more at ease during their stay!

    Highly praised by the head chef.

    The meals were very delicious. With different menus for breakfast and dinner during our Multiple Night Stay, we wished to extend our stay a bit longer to enjoy more of the cuisine. My partner, who has leg issues, praised the guest room bed and was delighted with the comfort upon waking up after a long time.

    I had a relaxing time just as I imagined.

    I stayed with my daughter. Since transportation in the Izu Highlands is not very convenient, we chose a smaller accommodation to relax. The accommodation is located in the middle of a villa area, surrounded by refreshing air and abundant flowing water. The interior is spacious yet not overly large, with benches and chairs placed throughout for relaxation, creating a welcoming atmosphere wherever you sit. Although the building is old, it has a sense of solidity that modern architecture lacks and is well-maintained and clean. The staff are friendly and kind. They provided helpful information at the front desk about our next day's destination and transportation options, allowing us to avoid crowds at Omuroyama in the morning, making it an excellent trip. I was slightly concerned after reading various reviews but found that our room was clean with no insects present. However, I noticed some guests leaving doors open when stepping out into the courtyard; this could potentially allow insects to enter but isn't an issue caused by the hotel itself. If you're looking for a relaxing trip without rushing around too much, this place comes highly recommended as it's charming and well-operated by a small team. The spacious bath remains open until late at night, meals can be enjoyed leisurely, and its location within a villa area enhances both its baths and scenic views—perfect for trips focused on conversation and relaxation without tight schedules. I visited the bath late at night as well; even though it's located in another building from some rooms, lights remained on in areas like post-restaurant zones until midnight to ensure safe access for guests—a thoughtful touch that shows how much they care about their visitors' comfort. Next time I'll make sure to check-in before dark! Thank you very much!

    The experienced Hotel staff at the front desk were very welcoming, making check-in an exciting experience. Enjoyed a drink in the lounge and relaxed on the garden chairs while watching the lively koi fish in the pond. The Onsen was spacious and relaxing, and the meals featuring seasonal local vegetables and fish were absolutely delicious. The menu was thoughtfully crafted for guests, making it a delightful dining experience. Breakfast was not buffet-style but consisted of healthy ingredients, creating a perfect start to the day.     First-time visit, many guests came from outside the prefecture. Dinner and breakfast were very satisfying, with warm and delicious meals. The quality of the Onsen was excellent and it was well-maintained. It would have been nice to have a bit more variety in the lounge snacks.

    The Hotel, located in a quiet villa area, provided a comfortable and peaceful stay. The Room was spacious and clean. Despite the low cost, the food was delicious, alcohol was available, and overall it was very satisfying. The foreign staff's explanation of the dishes was polite and easy to understand. I visited the open-air bath when it wasn't crowded, so I could relax while enjoying the beautiful scenery—it was truly refreshing. However, it was disappointing that during check-in they asked for a non-smoking agreement but did not offer any assistance with luggage for someone using a cane. Nowadays, it's rare for people to smoke indoors anyway. The distance to the Room and two steps along the way made it quite challenging.

    I had a very relaxing stay.

    I stayed at this accommodation for the first time in several years, and it seemed they had checked my previous stay records, making the reception feel very welcoming. The room was spacious, and from the moment I arrived, drinks were unlimited. Both the meals and the bath were excellent. I had a very relaxing time. This hotel offers outstanding value for money.     Last year, I stayed for the first time and was very impressed with the environment and service, so I decided to stay again this year. The garden, lounge, bath, and other facilities and services are excellent, and the location is very quiet. I look forward to staying again next year.

    This is my third visit!

    My mother (82 years old), my daughter (a junior high school student), and I visit various Onsen destinations three times a year, but we were so impressed with the comfort here that we stayed three times in a row! The meals are always creatively prepared, not only delicious but also visually delightful. The tiny micro tomatoes were adorable and tasted just like regular tomatoes—what a surprise! Personally, I loved the black rice crispy bits. The Shizuoka-grown Koshihikari rice was chewy and delicious, and everything from the sashimi to the meat to the simmered golden-eye snapper was absolutely satisfying. The tai chazuke for breakfast is something I could eat over and over again! The welcome drinks, including alcohol and unlimited soft drinks, were also a nice touch. Even though it was the last week of summer vacation with other guests around, unlike large-scale hotels, there was still a sense of privacy. We could relax in the Onsen almost as if it were reserved just for us! We created many wonderful memories playing table tennis and singing karaoke across three generations—my mother, my daughter, and me. Thank you so much!! We’re sure to visit for a fourth time soon (laughs). Please take care of us again when that time comes!
