    Perfect for solo travelers.

    I stayed here alone during spring break. They were considerate about my dining seating as well, and I had a very fulfilling two-day stay. All of the staff welcomed me with smiles, and it was very comfortable. I will definitely stay again!

    We had a very relaxing stay at this wonderful Accommodation.

    The views from the Accommodation, the meals, the Onsen, and the service were all excellent—I think this is an Accommodation with outstanding value for money. We wanted to sightsee around Ito, East Izu, and Shimoda, and the location was convenient enough that we were able to do everything we wanted to see and do. Thank you very much.

    I made another reservation.

    The Room was clean and lovely. The welcome drink let us relax for a moment in a seat with a great view. The Aqua Bridge with its reflecting pool was truly wonderful. In the large public bath, we enjoyed the scenery from the deep bath. One downside was that the men’s washing area had only one station. Also, changing clothes was required when going to the restaurant for meals. These days many places allow loungewear inside the property, so we would appreciate it if you could consider this. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The in-room bath had plenty of hot water, and we were able to unwind. We left completely satisfied and will definitely return. After getting home, we immediately made a Reservation.

    Dinner Wine

    I always request a wine pairing at dinner, so this was my first time at a Hotel where I had to go and get the wine myself. I understand it in a buffet setting, but having to leave my seat every time a course was served didn’t feel appropriate. It was disappointing.

    Birthday

    This was my first time staying here. The view was wonderful, and the food was delicious. Only 7:00 PM was available for dinner, and although I arrived about five minutes early, no one was there and I had to wait for a while. Once seated, the staff kindly explained the dishes, and everything tasted great. The Room was comfortable, and the open-air bath was wonderfully warm and relaxing. I would like to stay again when I have the opportunity.

    After three months

    It had been three months since our last visit, and I was surprised to find that drinks at dinner were now included, in line with the latest all-inclusive trend. My wife doesn’t drink, but for me as someone who enjoys alcohol, it was great to be able to choose what I liked.

    Stay for your birthday

    It seems the Plan I initially requested was no longer available, but during our phone call you kindly offered thoughtful alternatives such as upgrading the meals. Thanks to that, we had a wonderful and memorable birthday. I especially recommend reserving the large public bath for private use. My husband has been self-conscious about his surgical scars and hasn’t been able to use a public bath for the past few years, but with this private-use Plan he was able to enjoy a spacious, deep bath with a great view—an unforgettable experience for us. We also got to see the full moon at night, and every spot in the Hotel is photogenic. The meals were excellent, and even the café donuts were delicious. Thank you very much to all of your staff.

    An exceptionally sophisticated private Hotel

    This was my first time staying here, and I was truly impressed. The Room was spacious, solidly built, and beautifully designed, creating a comfortable space where I didn’t feel the cold outside at all. Not only the Room, but also the connecting corridors and even the elevator had fully controlled air conditioning. The design was simple yet carefully planned, including how natural light enters, and it felt like an exceptionally high-quality private retreat. The staff service was flawless, and the food quality was excellent—there is nothing to complain about. If I had to add one thing, I would have preferred a slightly firmer bed. I would love to stay again someday.

    I was able to relax again this time.

    I stay here every year around this time after viewing the Kawazu cherry blossoms, and I had another very comfortable stay this year. Including Akakura Kanko Hotel and Tofuya Resort & Spa, I really like this group’s Accommodations—the Rooms, Facilities, cuisine, and the hospitality of the staff—and I visit each property at least once a year. It rained steadily on the second day this time, but that was nice in its own way and allowed me to relax. I plan to visit Tofuya Resort & Spa next month.

    The new system is generally good.

    It seems the new system has switched to a free-flow option during meals, and I’m completely in favor of it—very satisfied. Because the food is delicious, I enjoyed coming up with my own pairings as I went. I wrote “mostly” in the title because, while staying here, I also used the café more often than usual, and I was truly shocked that cakes are no longer available. It makes me wonder if I won’t be able to enjoy seasonal cakes with the spectacular view anymore (they’ve been replaced with donuts). I sincerely hope the cakes will return. I’d like to stay again next year, and I’d be happy if this point is improved. This Hotel has so many great things about it—please let me choose your delicious cakes again!

    Good

    I stayed three times last year, and this was my first stay this year. Every time, I fully enjoy the meals, the Room, the baths, and the views, and leave feeling refreshed. Because I don’t want to risk a disappointing stay, this place is a key part of my regular rotation.

    Amazing view!!

    We arrived in great weather and were immediately impressed by the view from the front desk. We stayed in the East Wing, and the scenery from the corridor was outstanding. Service throughout was attentive, with thoughtful support that never felt intrusive.

    Overall, I was very satisfied, but it was difficult to find my way to each Facility, and I had to go back and forth each time. I would appreciate clearer directions without detracting from the room’s ambiance. I was surprised that there was no restroom at the Japanese dining venue. I would like one to be located nearby.

    You may be disappointed if you rely too heavily on Review ratings.

    If the weather is good, the ocean view is breathtaking. The deep bath was also fantastic—I could soak up to my shoulders, the water temperature was just right, and I was able to use it almost privately, which was the best part. The Room is stylish and very clean, and it was wonderful that the open-air bath in the Room is free-flowing and ready to use immediately. However, I was very disappointed that the drink and snack service I had seen on YouTube had been downgraded. After my stay, I checked other Reviews to see if anyone felt the same way, and I learned that the service has changed quite a lot compared with before. Dinner was delicious, but the portions were small. Even when we got hungry at night, there was no food available for purchase, and since only drinks or tea/coffee are provided in the Room, my husband ended up getting through his hunger with beverages. These days, even more affordable Hotels often offer better complimentary light snacks, so at this price point it’s hard not to have higher expectations for service and meal portions. There are many great aspects overall, so I would be happy to see improvements to food-related services in the future.

    The location is excellent.

    The location with spectacular views is wonderful. The facilities, including the Room, feel high-class. The meals were disappointing (Western cuisine). For over 50,000 yen per night, it was an underwhelming three-course meal and a dessert that felt homemade. Breakfast was also disappointing. It had snowed the day before, and when I tried to go by taxi that day, the driver said he couldn’t go because the roads were frozen. I had told the Hotel I would come by train, so they should have known I hadn’t made a Reservation for the Shuttle Service. If it’s not possible to arrive without the Shuttle Service, I wish they had contacted me in advance. Overall, that was the kind of service we received.

    The Onsen and the food were wonderful, but there was an unnecessary remark.

    I used both the private Onsen and the large public bath, and the night view and sunrise were beautiful. The welcome drink and meals were also high quality, making it an outstanding resort experience. Overall, the service exceeded expectations for the price. The only very disappointing point was that during check-in I was told, “You stayed here last time.” It is true that I visited about two years ago with someone else, but mentioning this in front of my companion made things awkward, as they wondered who I had come with previously. At a certain level of hospitality or dining service, I believe such unnecessary remarks should be avoided.

    A resort-style accommodation with a true vacation feel

    This was a relaxing Accommodation that incorporates the Akakura Kanko Hotel concept throughout. First, you can enjoy a welcome drink—sparkling wine—on a terrace with a wonderful view. The snacks were also delicious, and afterward we unwound in the footbath set in the center of the building. Surrounded by water, it was a beautiful setting where we could soak our feet at a leisurely pace. The Izu Seven Islands and the calm sea as seen from the deep bath, and the in-Room open-air bath available anytime. The meals were delicious, but I marked it down because it felt like there were not many local ingredients. It soothed my New Year’s fatigue and left me feeling truly refreshed.

    Everything is perfect.

    We used this facility for a milestone trip as a couple in our 50s, marking transitions in parenting and work. Everything was perfect—facility, cleanliness, service, style, atmosphere, cuisine, amenities, number and quality of guests, pricing, and even the weather. We researched extensively through site reviews and videos before visiting; however, the scenery and ambiance can only truly be appreciated in person. It exceeded all expectations. Highly recommended!

    I keep coming back!

    I frequently stay at my favorite hotel and always enjoy my visits. The staff's balanced approach to hospitality is very pleasant. The cuisine, especially the Japanese dishes, is highly satisfying and one of the main reasons for my stays. Each dish reflects a handmade touch and seasonal flavors, showcasing the chef's personality, which I truly appreciate. The French dining now features a drink bar (all-inclusive), but personally, I find it inconvenient to fetch drinks myself and dislike waiting at the drink bar. I prefer ordering directly as it allows for a more relaxed dining experience. However, the use of the teppanyaki corner has added an engaging live cooking element that enhances both taste and visual enjoyment. I always opt for multiple night stays, but regarding room cleaning during these stays, I wish the choice between eco-cleaning and full cleaning could be simplified. It feels troublesome to decide each time, so I often end up choosing full cleaning despite feeling slightly guilty about it. This is such a wonderful accommodation that I'll definitely stay again!

    I truly had a relaxing time!

    We stayed as a family of four during the New Year holidays. Our theme for year-end and New Year trips is "do absolutely nothing," and in that sense, Izu Hotel Resort & Spa was perfect! The Hotel is located in a luxurious villa area overlooking the sea, with nothing around it, so everything is designed to be self-contained within the Hotel. There are various spots where you can relax while gazing at the sea, including deep baths, so even when fully booked, it never felt crowded. It truly offered a private and relaxing experience. It felt like visiting an ultra-luxurious vacation home. For dinner, we enjoyed French cuisine. Both the grilled fish and meat were incredibly delicious. We added truffle risotto to the standard course; however, since the course itself was very filling, I (the father) ended up eating most of the risotto. The deep bath was absolutely amazing. Although we couldn't see a moonlit path on this full moon night due to winter weather conditions, we did enjoy a perfect sunrise (see photo). Of course, we could also view it from our Room! This was actually our family's first sunrise of the year together—an unforgettable experience! The reason for giving 4 stars for baths is that there were limited washing areas in the open-air deep bath (men's bath: only one outside which was cold), and hairdryers lacked power compared to those in our Room. However, if you focus on enjoying just the open-air deep bath with its views and post-bath ice cream while using your Room's bathroom for grooming needs instead of relying on public facilities entirely—it shouldn't be an issue at all!

    It was great.

    We were very satisfied, including the service. Enjoyed a wonderful time in the lounge with hors d'oeuvres while admiring the island views. The meals and bath were also excellent.

    It was a very well-equipped Hotel.

    The day we checked in was very windy, and when I peeked into the large public bath, the water in the tub was splashing around with waves, which scared me, so I didn’t use it. However, when I went outside late at night after the wind had calmed down, the stars were incredibly beautiful. The next morning was calm with clear skies. I used the open-air bath attached to my room early in the morning. The washing area and sink had floor heating, and I could adjust the water temperature. There were also bathrobes and plenty of towels provided, so it was very comfortable without feeling cold. The sunrise was stunningly beautiful as well, and from the corridor connecting east to west wings of the building, you could see a breathtaking view of a shimmering sea. The only disappointment was that the restaurant where we had breakfast (Japanese-style) felt very cramped. There was a counter-like table for serving placed right in front of us, and staff members were constantly bustling back and forth through doors on either side of it. Additionally, before starting our meal we were told to "finish within an hour as reservations for later time slots are fully booked," which might have contributed to this rushed atmosphere. Everyone ate quietly amidst this busyness—it wasn’t what you’d call an enjoyable breakfast experience.

    A place you'll want to visit again.

    This was my third visit. While the system has changed slightly, the consistent hospitality and amazing hot springs left my mother and sister, who joined me for the first time, absolutely thrilled. The free alcohol service during dinner was no inconvenience at all since you can help yourself! Being able to enjoy your favorite drink at your preferred timing was such a delight. The dessert wagon service was also incredibly satisfying! And I must say, the breakfast was astonishingly delicious!

    Recommended Accommodation for Family and Friends

    Seeking relaxation, I visited this accommodation featuring a private open-air Onsen in the room and highly recommended by IKYU. For my 2-night, 3-day solo trip, it had everything I desired. The scenery was stunning, the meals were delicious, the room amenities were well-equipped, and the service was exceptional. It provided more than enough of the relaxing moments I sought. Meals: Dinner for both nights was Western cuisine, while breakfast offered both Japanese and Western options. On the second night, they kindly adjusted the menu and sauce upon request—a thoughtful gesture that delighted me. The inclusion of cheese fondue in one course and venison as a main dish option left a lasting impression on me. Since there are no convenience stores nearby to supplement meals if needed, they ensured portions were generous—about 1.1 servings per person—to leave guests fully satisfied. The free drink selection added an enjoyable touch. Scenery: The breathtaking view that greets you immediately upon entering the front desk area is simply awe-inspiring. The views from the room and from standing baths are equally remarkable. On full moon nights, you can apparently see a single beam of moonlight reflecting on the sea—I hope to witness this on another visit. Onsen: The private open-air Onsen in my room was fantastic! Visiting during winter allowed me to enjoy a delightful contrast between warm water and cool air. Being atop a mountain but during winter meant there were no insects around for an even more comfortable experience. Additionally, underfloor heating in both shower rooms and washrooms showcased their attention to detail. The public bath features one standing bath with equally stunning views; however, women’s baths offer more mountain scenery while men’s baths likely provide better ocean views due to their positioning. There is also foot bathing available at both an inner courtyard area and bakery—another lovely feature. Due to space limitations here I'll stop now—but other highlights include thoughtful welcome services; relaxation rooms among other facilities; warm hospitality from hotel staff—all making this accommodation truly outstanding. I would love to revisit someday—and recommend it wholeheartedly even among close friends! Additional Note: I had purchased beer at the station for post-dinner drinks but found alcoholic beverages along with soft drinks already stocked in my room's refrigerator—a pleasant surprise! However please note these could end up as souvenirs instead depending on your plans!

    The deep outdoor hot spring will not disappoint!

    I chose a plan with a private open-air onsen. Based on reviews and the website, it seemed very appealing, and I was really looking forward to visiting the hotel. The weather was perfect, and I was deeply impressed by the view of the sea from the bath, the temperature of the onsen, as well as the cleanliness of the facilities and changing room—exceeding my expectations. This plan included early check-in, so after enjoying the bath, we were promptly guided to our room. The welcome drink (including light snacks) featured sparkling wine that was delicious; my husband and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Dinner that day did not include Japanese kaiseki cuisine but Western-style dishes instead; however, we were delighted with an upgraded abalone dish that tasted fantastic. For breakfast, we chose a Japanese set meal. Compared to other accommodations, it felt like there might have been slightly less quantity overall but just enough for us. My husband particularly enjoyed the vegetable miso soup and even had seconds. One minor disappointment—though this is just my personal opinion—was that I found dessert at dinner to be overly sweet.

    I had a very relaxing stay this time as well.

    Apologies for the delayed review. Every time I stay, I truly value the peaceful moments I can spend here. Additionally, being greeted by a former Akakura Kanko Hotel staff member each visit makes me feel like I've returned to a nostalgic home. Thank you as always. This time, I stayed multiple nights at both Tofuya and here. The Japanese-style breakfast was almost identical to Tofuya's, so I rated "4 points" for meals—but that's simply because I should have chosen the Western-style breakfast instead (laughs). My apologies!

    The teppanyaki dinne...

    The teppanyaki dinner was excellent. The room, private Onsen, and the deep bath in the large public bath were all very satisfying. However, even though check-in is at 4:30 PM, not having a welcome drink by 5 PM seems unacceptable for accommodation priced in the 70,000 yen range. Additionally, breakfast service for Japanese cuisine only being available from 9 AM seems inconvenient from an operational perspective. Regarding IKYU's management, I have never received any benefits from accommodations as a Diamond Member. Perhaps guidance to accommodations is necessary? Otherwise, being a Diamond Member feels meaningless. Please consider improving this aspect of your content offerings.

    Meals

    The first day was disappointing due to heavy fog, but the next morning was clear, and we enjoyed the breathtaking view as expected. The elderly staff at the restaurant were very pleasant. They kindly prepared plenty of bath towels as requested, so we could use fresh, fluffy towels every time we visited the Onsen—much appreciated. However, compared to our previous visit, the meals were a bit disappointing. Returning to a standard full-course menu might be better. For guests who don't drink alcohol, free drinks are not very appealing. The welcome drink at the bakery being self-service felt less special; it would be nicer if it returned to being served in the resort lounge instead. I was also looking forward to enjoying fresh cakes from the bakery, so it was unfortunate that they had been replaced with donuts.

    The view was fantastic.

    The hotel is located near the top of a small hill, offering stunning views of six out of the seven Izu Islands from guest rooms, the front desk, and the Western-style restaurant. The guest rooms feature onsen open-air baths, allowing guests to enjoy multiple soaks during their stay. However, it was disappointing that it took some time for water to turn hot in the shower and sink. The large public bath includes a sauna and has a deep onsen pool suitable for standing bathing. Unfortunately, there was only one shower in the men's bath area, which caused inconvenience when other guests were using it. For dinner options, there are two restaurants: a Western-style restaurant and a Japanese-style restaurant. Surprisingly, beverages such as alcohol and soft drinks are included in the accommodation fee at the Western-style restaurant but are charged separately at the Japanese-style restaurant. In addition to this, there is a bakery in the East Wing where guests can enjoy complimentary alcohol and snacks during designated hours. Other highlights include free beverages available in various locations such as room refrigerators, rest areas near public baths, resort lounges, and bakeries.
