    Somewhat disappointing.

    The set menu was left to the chef, but it felt rather ordinary. The simmered fish was served on a large platter with a “help yourself” style. The meat dish was beef and pork shabu-shabu, and the quality of the meat was not particularly good. There was no restroom in the dining Room, so I was surprised that we had to take the elevator to an upper floor to use one.

    One night wasn’t enough.

    The day after the typhoon, the view wasn’t perfect, but the deep open-air bath without glass windows was beautifully clean, as if nothing had happened. There was beer and ice cream after the bath. Dinner was served in small portions and everything was delicious; we enjoyed pairing each dish with a different drink. Breakfast started with salmon and shrimp, and sparkling wine paired well. The Room was great, but we also wanted to spend more time at the Aqua Bridge; the footbath went by in an instant, we didn’t have time for the spa, and one night wasn’t enough! We will definitely come again!

    Once again, we had a wonderful stay.

    The Hotel we used to stay at in Izu closed, so we were looking for a good alternative and stayed at this Hotel last December. We had such a wonderful time then, but we wondered if it was just beginner’s luck—or if we were simply excited by an unfamiliar style of service—so we decided to visit again. As it turned out, we were completely satisfied once more. This time, unfortunately, it was raining and the view was pure white when we arrived. Since the scenery is one of this Hotel’s highlights, we weren’t sure what to expect—but the comfortable atmosphere and, above all, the outstanding kaiseki dinner at the counter made everything perfect. Luxuriously, there was only one party seated at the counter. We had the pleasure of speaking directly with the head chef about ingredients and cooking methods. Each dish looked effortless yet reflected tremendous care and attention to detail, making every course even more delicious. Thank you very much, Chef. The next morning brought ever-changing views as the rain came and went and occasional sunlight broke through. We were able to relax on the sofa by the quiet reflecting pool and enjoy the scenery at our leisure. French cuisine may be this Hotel’s main offering, but for us as a couple who don’t do well with rich foods—and who find a full French course too much as our appetites have decreased with age—a Hotel where we can enjoy excellent kaiseki is truly valuable. This has become a Hotel we want to return to again and again.

    A perfect score isn’t enough.

    I had looked at a few photos and Reviews beforehand, but it was even better than I expected in person. The Facility, the meals, and the hospitality of the staff were all outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and truly delicious. The location was very hard to find, and I got lost again on the way back, which is my only concern. I was able to watch the sunrise from the Aqua Bridge, and I fully enjoyed it with all five senses—the birdsong and the scent of the forest as well. I was deeply moved. Thank you very much.

    It was excellent.

    The view from the lobby was amazing, as if it blended seamlessly into the ocean. The open-air bath in the room was very relaxing, and the shower area was thoughtfully designed for ease of use. In the morning, I was moved to hear Japanese bush warblers singing. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, with just the right portions. The service was excellent as well—warm and attentive hospitality that made our stay truly comfortable. I would love to visit again.

    This is my third sta...

    This is my third stay. I can truly feel refreshed! Since it’s an adults-only Accommodation, one of the things I like is that many guests tend to be older, sociable, and well-mannered—but this time I felt a bit disappointed to see a young couple playing a competitive game on their phones. I wish they would do that in their Room… I always choose the chef’s choice dinner Plan, and this was my first time having shabu-shabu—it was delicious. The simmered splendid alfonsino served before the main had a gentle flavor, and it was my first time trying the fried bones; they were very easy to eat. The sashimi selection was small but featured only premium fish… Sake was free-flow with various options to choose from, but since I enjoy wine even with Japanese cuisine, it would have been even better if there were more wine choices as well, like with Western meals. Of course, I enjoyed the sake too! One point off: I think you should improve the quality of the towels—or perhaps review your laundry service provider. The lint from washing sticks to my face and hair and bothers me. Overall, this is one of my favorite Accommodations in terms of staff, service, food, Onsen, cleanliness, and more—so I’ll do my best to be able to stay again!

    I stayed in Room 145...

    I stayed in Room 145. The food, staff service, and the Onsen were all very satisfying. However, the mirror above the washbasin was positioned too high, and when sitting on the stool I could only see half of my face, which made applying makeup inconvenient. Also, I felt it was an oversight that there was no magnifying hand mirror provided, as there is in other Rooms.

    I had a pleasant stay at the new Hotel.

    The Facility was excellent, and the service was also very good. However, while the food was tasty, it fell a bit short overall. I upgraded dinner to abalone and an A5 beef fillet steak, but compared with the main dishes at so-called top-tier restaurants, it felt slightly inferior. It was also a little below the level of the French cuisine at Akakura Kanko Hotel. The most disappointing part of dinner was that, despite being a reasonably upscale Hotel dinner, I had to go to the counter myself to get drinks. Isn’t that something you wouldn’t see at French dining in a luxury Hotel? If it’s not luxury-hotel-level French dining, then I would like the Accommodation price to be lower.

    A Scenic Accommodation Where You Can Enjoy a Resort Getaway

    A spectacular Hotel perched on a hill overlooking the sea, reached by climbing a steep mountain road from Atagawa. The interior has a Mediterranean resort vibe, and the spacious courtyard—complete with a footbath at its center—is especially relaxing, letting you unwind while enjoying the view. The restaurant serves Japanese-style French cuisine featuring fresh Izu seafood; every dish was high quality and delicious. The all-inclusive plan, one of this Hotel’s highlights, was greatly appreciated by us as a couple who enjoy drinks. However, it was disappointing that the café closes at 5:00 PM; it would have been nice to be able to enjoy beer or wine at least until dinner starts.

    Wonderful Solo Trip

    I stayed on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23. Since I had hurt my lower back and it was also my birthday, I took a relaxing solo trip. The Hotel itself is impressive, with water terraces throughout, making it feel like a tropical resort. Water cascades through the courtyard as well, and the inside area is a footbath—creating a wonderful atmosphere. The view from the Aqua Bridge on the 4th floor was amazing, and I could truly unwind while listening to Japanese bush warblers singing. The Room was stylishly designed and very clean. Above all, the open-air bath in the guest Room had an outstanding design and Onsen water. The perfectly beautiful scenery of mountains and sea seen from the open-air bath was breathtaking, with the warblers’ songs never ceasing even there. I felt completely immersed in nature. The large public bath features a rare standing-style bath. It was deeper than expected so I was surprised at first, but the view through its window without glass offered scenery different from the Room’s open-air bath—and it was wonderful. Dinner was French cuisine with unlimited drinks including alcohol. Each dish showed great creativity and tasted excellent. At dessert time, they also brought a “Happy Birthday” plate for me with birthday wishes, which made me very happy. The dining hall staff were kind and pleasant as well. The bed was a Simmons bed that gently enveloped my body; it was extremely comfortable to sleep in. For breakfast I requested Japanese cuisine. Everything tasted great, but especially the rice and miso soup—they were exceptional. I ended up having seconds, and many other guests around me did too. In every respect it was an excellent Hotel, and I was completely satisfied. If I had to mention one thing, having in-room massage service would make it even more relaxing. It was a wonderful birthday and an amazing stay, and I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    The cuisine is exquisite.

    We chose this Hotel specifically for the shabu-shabu dinner course that includes splendid alfonsino. The drive to the Hotel was along quite a winding mountain road. As it sits on a hilltop, the view was outstanding. The Room felt smaller than we expected, but the restaurant and resort lounge were pleasantly spacious and relaxing, with enough privacy not to worry about other guests. The meal portions were just right, and we finished everything. In particular, the alfonsino we came for was truly delicious. For breakfast we chose the Western-style option, and were very satisfied with the homemade bread, warm pot-au-feu soup, and fresh fruit. The bath area is not large, but since we didn’t overlap with other guests, we were able to enjoy it at a leisurely pace. There were complimentary drinks as well as bite-sized ice cream and jelly in the space outside, which was a thoughtful touch. One improvement I would suggest: At welcome drinks, the small plate served with our beverages paired well with alcohol. For guests like us who don’t drink alcohol, it would be nice if there were an option such as cookies instead (since there were cookies and pound cake available in the resort lounge).

    The Best Trip

    We enjoyed a wonderful escape from everyday life. The weather was great—it couldn’t have been better. The food was delicious as well. It was our first family trip in a while, and it became a lovely memory.

    Second Stay

    Because it was wonderful last time, I visited again with a friend. The café’s donuts and gratin were outstanding. The service was excellent, and the ventilation and atmosphere throughout the property—along with its one-of-a-kind sense of style—made it a truly special escape. I think it’s perfect for busy people who want to step away from everyday life and enjoy a refreshing sense of freedom.

    60th Birthday Celebration

    After juggling caregiving arrangements and work, we finally managed to take the long-postponed trip to celebrate my family member’s 60th birthday. I had planned to send wine in advance, but forgot and left anyway. But it was all-inclusive!! There were several kinds of sparkling and red wine, so we really enjoyed them. The deep, free-flowing Onsen blended into the sky and sea—so relaxing and absolutely wonderful. Most of all, since I had mentioned it was a 60th birthday celebration, they added a message plate and even gave us a small gift, which made us very happy. The only disappointment was that the toilet door opened inward. Not only did that make it hard to put on and take off slippers, but if someone were to collapse inside, there’s a chance the door couldn’t be opened from outside, which feels a bit unsafe. Still, next time I’d like to stay about two nights in a Room with a desk… (This Room was spacious and had a balcony, but there was no desk, which made working inconvenient.) We had a great time. Thank you very much.

    This Hotel offers an exceptionally satisfying stay.

    My wife and I stayed with our son and his wife, plus one grandchild (2 years old), after making a Reservation for the Deluxe Terrace Twin B1 / Terrace Twin A (Western-style upgraded course with grilled abalone plate, for four people). The building, views, Room, meals (dinner and breakfast), free-flow service, welcome drink, bath, and cleanliness were all excellent, and we had a very comfortable stay. Our grandchild didn’t cry, but may have gotten excited and spoken a bit loudly during dinner—please accept our apologies. My wife and our son’s family were all very pleased as well. We would love to visit again.

    Even more beautiful than in the photos, and even more delicious than the Reviews say.

    We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay over Golden Week. We requested both Japanese and Western meals once each for breakfast and dinner. I was a bit worried because there were many negative Reviews about the food, but I was amazed by how wonderful the Japanese cuisine was. Every dish was carefully prepared with great attention to detail, and truly delicious. My companion enjoyed some sake, and we also had a great time chatting with the knowledgeable head chef, so if you love food and drinks, I highly recommend the kaiseki course (the Japanese breakfast is excellent as well). The Room’s terrace was smaller than expected, but the bath was spacious enough to relax in, and both the sofa and bed were very comfortable. The split-level layout also meant we could sleep peacefully without worrying about noise from neighboring rooms. As for the shared Facility areas: I had always thought places like Aqua Bridge and Fukami Onsen looked beautiful in photos, but experiencing them in person—with May’s pleasant breeze and lively birdsong—felt like heaven. I felt completely relaxed both physically and mentally. We were thrilled to see wild deer, and even a moonlit “moon road” at night. All staff were courteous, and I especially remember the thoughtful care from the head chef of the Japanese restaurant mentioned above, as well as a male staff member who served us at dinner in the Western restaurant. There is also Shuttle Service from the station, which made this a truly stress-free getaway. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

    An Accommodation where you can enjoy an extraordinary, resort-like escape

    This was a wonderful, luxurious adults-only Accommodation where we could fully enjoy the spectacular views of Izu and a great sense of openness! The Rooms are arranged in a zigzag layout, so we really felt a strong sense of privacy from neighboring Rooms and were able to relax and take our time. All the staff were very courteous, and they even helped move our private car in and out of the parking area, which made our stay very comfortable. We enjoyed both Japanese and Western meals for breakfast and dinner, and each ingredient was carefully prepared; we also appreciated the free drinks. If I had to mention one thing, there were two TVs—one in the living area and one by the bed—but they were positioned at an angle that was hard to see from the sofa, so it would have been even better if they had been placed where they were easier to watch. This is an Accommodation we would definitely like to stay at again!

    How wonderful!

    After driving quite a way up, we found an unexpected view. We were impressed by the wonderful scenery, the hot springs, and the high quality of the ingredients in the meals. Without exaggeration, this Accommodation was well worth what we paid. I rated amenities 4 because I would have been even happier if there had been a take-home towel with the Accommodation name on it, as is common at many Ryokan. We will definitely stay again.

    The Accommodation it...

    The Accommodation itself was good, but the front desk staff were not very professional. The person who greeted us at arrival was not fluent in Japanese, could not understand our name, and went to call someone else. Since we arrived before 2:00 p.m., we were told to wait at the café until the Room was ready. We were told they would contact our mobile phone as soon as it was ready, but even after 3:10 p.m. there was no call, and two groups who arrived after us were shown to their Rooms first. In the end, we went to the front desk ourselves to pick up the key card, so our first impression of the staff was not good. The food was delicious, but it felt inconvenient having to go and get drinks ourselves. It is nice that you can choose breakfast or brunch, but I think it would be better to offer more than three menu options. Finally, at checkout, the kanji spelling of my family name on the Receipt was incorrect. I have never experienced this at any Accommodation before, so it was disappointing. However, the staff member who assisted us at departure was pleasant.

    Ultimate Relaxation

    It was completely stress-free, and every moment felt comfortable—I was truly refreshed. The views were especially beautiful; they were stunning whether it rained or the sun was out. We could enjoy drinks and light snacks at the café even before check-in, and we were able to relax after check-out as well. The baths were wonderful. The open-air bath in the Room was great too, but the deep bath in the large public bath was exceptional! The staff’s perfectly balanced friendliness also left a great impression. I’d love to visit again and would happily recommend it to others.

    Solo travel

    This was my first solo trip, and it became a wonderful memory. The Room is compact, but beautifully designed and very comfortable, and I might even prefer the view from the East Wing. Even lying on the bed, I could see the sea; the birdsong was soothing; and I loved the feel of the terrace. It seemed quiet that day, so whenever I went to the large public bath, it felt like I had it all to myself. The meals were delicious, and everyone—from the staff to the restaurant team—was so kind that it made me really happy. I’d love to visit the café and footbath and explore more around the property too, but there’s never enough time. As many people say, one night at this Hotel isn’t enough. I didn’t want to leave... It may be indulgent, but next time I’d like to relax with a Multiple Night Stay. Thank you very much for everything during my stay.

    Even though there were many guests, it was truly quiet and relaxing. I drank a bit too much during the free-flow drinks at dinner and slept even more soundly than expected. Dinner was, of course, absolutely delicious. The open-air bath in the Room had a spectacular view and felt wonderful.

    For birthdays and wedding anniversaries

    As a rule, we check Reviews thoroughly—both good and bad—before making a Reservation. This time, we stayed to celebrate an anniversary where my birthday and our wedding anniversary overlapped. To be honest, although this Hotel has mostly outstanding Reviews, we had also seen some not-so-great Reviews about the points that matter most to us, so we hesitated until the very last minute… What ultimately decided it for us was that it’s a Resort Hotel where you can feel the ocean and enjoy clear views of the night sky and sunrise. On top of that, we had quite demanding requirements: an Onsen with free-flowing hot spring water in the Room as well; cleanliness above all; good meals; everything within the Hotel so you can fully unwind without doing anything; and ideally, drinks in the lounge too. There are almost no Hotels around the Kanto area that meet all of these conditions. Since our stay was the day after a full moon, our top priorities were hoping we might see a moon road and simply wanting to look at the sea to recover from daily fatigue—so despite a few concerns (sorry!), we chose Izu Hotel. Done! In the end, it was an extremely satisfying stay. I won’t go into details, but one of our concerns did happen at first; when we mentioned it to staff, they handled it thoughtfully. It was clearly shared among the team as well, and we really felt their high level of hospitality. Sorry for being such a troublesome guest. At Restaurant WAVE, they spoke with us about how beautifully visible the moon road was and checked in on us—it truly moved us how considerate they were even before their professional service began. The moon road from our Room was also incredibly beautiful. As for dinner’s free-drink selection: easy to order, yet great quality wines—and there were options to choose from! It was our first time going up to the bar counter ourselves to order drinks, but for us it felt fresh and fun interacting with the bartender—and everything tasted great. (At WAVE there were absolutely no issues like red wine being served chilled.) The limited-time beer available during full-moon season was also excellent! At the spa, their high-level techniques and starry-sky-inspired space left both mind and body feeling purified. We’d love to visit again. Thank you as well for the complimentary bath salts! My personal overall take: highly recommended for anyone who wants an ocean-view Room with free-flowing hot spring water from its source (kakenagashi), wants to relax without doing anything in particular, wants to enjoy alcohol without hesitation—and doesn’t need meals this time around to be extremely strict or elaborate! And definitely choose an upper-floor Room!

    Satisfied with the views and the spa.

    This was my first stay at this Accommodation. Because it is located on higher ground, the views are wonderful, and I was truly impressed by the Izu scenery spreading out beyond the large windows. Although the clouds were quite thick, we were still able to enjoy the views of Izu. We also used the spa on the day. The careful consultation and very pleasant treatment helped me relax deeply. If I have a chance to visit again, I would like to use it again. I have two points that concerned me, and I hope you will take them as feedback for future improvement. First: seating at dinner. I had expected to enjoy dinner in a space where we could feel close to the live kitchen, but we were shown to a seat near the free-drink counter bar. It felt less like restaurant seating and more like one of the seats set up for enjoying drinks after dinner. We were told that we were welcome to view the live kitchen area freely if we wished, so partway through we took a look further inside. There, in a spacious area completely different from our assigned seat, there were many tables arranged for relaxed dining. If those inner seats had been fully booked by Reservation, it would have been understandable; however, there seemed to be more than enough seats available. The area where we were seated felt crowded by comparison, which left us with questions. Was this due to differences in our reserved Plan? The difference between dining areas was so significant that if seating is separated by Plan, honestly speaking, I would rather not have known about those inner seats at all until the end. Second: Diamond benefits. There was no guidance about any benefits unless we brought it up ourselves. Even when mentioned at checkout, staff reacted as if surprised and said something along the lines of having prepared something in our Room; however, there was nothing of that sort in our Room. We were only told that drinks in the refrigerator could be used free of charge. Many Reviews mention your hospitality; because my expectations were high based on those comments, this was disappointing. The Facility itself was very clean and beautiful.

    Weather and Dining

    I feel this Accommodation loses much of its appeal when the weather isn’t good. Unfortunately, it rained and there was heavy fog, so everything outside was completely white. Disappointing. I think it would have felt very different in good weather. There are many open-air areas such as corridors. It’s probably fine in pleasant seasons, but in winter it must be extremely cold for guests whose Room requires passing through these areas after using the Onsen. It was also cold on the way to the Japanese restaurant. Even though it’s all within the property, it felt like you’d need a coat in winter. For dinner we had the standard French course (without an upgrade), and it was average—honestly disappointing for this price, especially after coming all the way to Izu. In particular, the spiny lobster cheese fondue: the accompanying shrimp-soup-like item was bland as well, and I don’t understand why they turned spiny lobster into a cheese fondue. As for drinks, if we have to go get them ourselves anyway, I would have preferred they didn’t include that service and simply made it a bit cheaper. It didn’t feel relaxing. The dessert wagon selection wasn’t very appealing either. I chose strawberries because they were available, but even though this is a season when better strawberries are sold at supermarkets for under 500 yen, these looked and tasted poor. The staff were nice and the Room was good, but since Izu is far from Tokyo and with this level of dining, I don’t think I’d want to come back.

    Perfect for solo travelers.

    I stayed here alone during spring break. They were considerate about my dining seating as well, and I had a very fulfilling two-day stay. All of the staff welcomed me with smiles, and it was very comfortable. I will definitely stay again!
