    The Onsen is excellent, but the staff service is very poor for the price.

    We stayed here as a couple. What stood out most this time was the private sauna in our room. We could enjoy it at our own pace without worrying about others, and relaxing while taking in the view felt truly luxurious. We also enjoyed the in-room bath, the meals were delicious, and overall it was a very satisfying stay. I also appreciated receiving a sauna hat. On the other hand, there were a few service issues that concerned us: being mistaken for foreign guests at check-in; waiting more than 20 minutes after being seated for the first dish at dinner; not being offered an oshibori hand towel; and not having our suitcase placed in the car at check-out—all of which felt a bit disappointing. Even so, I think this is an Accommodation I can recommend to anyone who wants to relax in their room and enjoy great food and a sauna. I would like to stay again if I have the chance.

    We were able to relax and take our time.

    It was my first time visiting Atagawa, and I was able to spend a truly relaxing time. For room service, I requested the “tea-serving bath,” and it was wonderfully soothing to enjoy tea while soaking in the Onsen. At dinner, I enjoyed a pairing course. The sake brands Garyubai and Hatsukame complemented the dishes beautifully. In the morning, I woke up at 5:00 to watch the sunrise. Although it wasn’t perfectly clear, it was a rare experience to see sunlight streaming through breaks in the clouds.

    An Accommodation you’ll want to visit again

    We stayed here as a couple. In addition to the in-room open-air bath and the Onsen, we were especially impressed by the ocean view from our Room, and we were able to relax and unwind in a quiet setting. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and we also enjoyed meals and drinks via room service; the dining space itself was wonderful as well. The overall atmosphere and interior design throughout the property felt calm and comfortable, making it a stay where we could truly enjoy the luxury of doing nothing. Above all, the hospitality from all staff was exceptional—their service was both attentive and warmly welcoming, which left a lasting impression. The views, the Room, the food, and the staff’s care all exceeded our expectations. Although it was only one night, we had a truly lovely time that became an unforgettable memory. We would definitely like to return, and we highly recommend this Accommodation to anyone looking to spend special time with someone important.

    Indulge in Onsen baths while gazing at the sea sparkling in the morning sun.

    We stayed as a family. The open-air bath in the guest Room and the Onsen were very relaxing, and being able to soak as many times as we liked at our preferred timing was a real highlight. The ocean view from the Room—especially the sunrise—was unforgettable, and we were able to spend truly restful time simply enjoying the scenery. The meals and drinks we ordered via room service were also very convenient, making this Accommodation perfect for anyone who wants to relax in their Room without going out. The Room was spacious, and it was an ideal Accommodation for soaking in the Onsen while taking in the view and unwinding at a leisurely pace. One small point: we noticed some noise when chairs were moved in the dining area, and there were moments when we felt mindful of other guests. Adding felt pads or similar soundproofing measures would make it even more comfortable. Even so, overall we were extremely satisfied, and it’s an Accommodation we would definitely like to stay at again. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy beautiful views while relaxing in an Onsen.

    Happiness Through the Five Senses

    Our family of three stayed for one night and two days, and we were able to spend a truly fulfilling time. We were so satisfied that we are already considering returning in a different season. As described in the Room details, it really was a special seat on the top floor. Once we stepped into the Room... there was no outside noise at all. We were soothed by the sound of Japanese bush warblers and the waves, enjoyed views of beautiful Sagami Bay and the sky, as well as the sunset and sunrise, relaxed with uka-scented bath amenities and a bath, wrapped ourselves in soft towels and bathrobes, slept in a comfortable bed, and enjoyed meals featuring traditional Izu cuisine and local ingredients... it was such a wonderful space. Our son (a junior high school student) kept saying how sad he was to leave. On our departure day, we also requested Shuttle Service to Izu-Atagawa Station (in the Gariu parked next to the entrance). Even in the heat, they saw us off until we were completely out of sight. It still makes us very happy, and it remains a lasting memory.

    Surprised by how cheap it felt

    My stays at the Iki, Goto, and Setouchi retreats were wonderful experiences, but Atagawa Suiko did not feel like it belonged to the same retreat brand at all. I stayed in the former large public bath suite, and the Room felt so cheap that I was very disappointed. Because the old building was renovated with as little spending as possible, the sprayed fireproof coating on the ceiling and the piping have been left exposed. The sink filled in with gravel and vinyl slippers also gave me the impression that many areas were finished carelessly. Even at meals, mass-produced commercial tableware was used as-is, and I was surprised to be served a tea saucer with peeling paint and a chipped chopstick rest. If you like Showa-era retro Onsen Hotels in Atami, Atagawa Suiko might suit you. However, the price is more than five times higher.

    Discover a wonderful Accommodation in Atagawa

    We stayed as a family. This time, we visited to enjoy the luxury of “doing nothing,” and it was exactly that kind of stay. What impressed us most was how delicious the meals were. We were very satisfied with both dinner and breakfast, and we also appreciated the food and drinks we ordered via room service, as well as the complimentary items in the refrigerator. The dining area was calm and relaxing, making it a very comfortable environment where we could spend quiet time at our own pace. The staff’s service and hospitality were also very warm. During the Shuttle Service from the station, they even carried our luggage from a ticket gate that only had stairs, which made for a wonderful start to our stay. On the other hand, we noticed a slight odor in the corridor from when we got into the elevator until reaching our Room. Since this is such a lovely Accommodation after its renewal, we think it would feel even more comfortable if the fragrance sold at the shop could be enjoyed throughout the entire building. Even so, overall we were extremely satisfied, and it was a stay that made us want to return. We highly recommend this Accommodation to anyone looking to refresh themselves as a reward for their hard work every day.

    Atagawa is the best.

    We stayed here as a couple. The ocean view from our Room—especially the moonlit scenery—was truly memorable, and simply gazing at it was very soothing. The interior atmosphere and spatial design were wonderful, and we really appreciated the quiet, relaxing environment. The dining area was also comfortable, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. We also enjoyed meals and drinks via room service, which made our overall satisfaction—including mealtimes—very high throughout our stay. The staff’s service and hospitality were attentive, and we were able to unwind in the Onsen while enjoying the view, spending a peaceful time together as a couple. We would definitely like to stay again, and it is an Accommodation we would recommend to relatives and friends.

    Highly recommended for Onsen lovers!!!

    We stayed as a family, and the private open-air bath in our room and the Onsen were especially memorable. We were able to relax throughout our stay. The staff were very welcoming, and it was a truly refreshing getaway. The in-room dining roast beef and the bottled milk freshly squeezed that day were delicious. We also appreciated the champagne and shaved ice service in the lobby lounge from 17:30; watching the water at dusk while unwinding in a record-filled lounge was wonderful. We were also curious about the spa that started in August 2026, so we made a Reservation for the 60-minute course. The pressure was perfect, and it really helped relieve our fatigue. The retro-car Shuttle Service from the station was also fun, and chatting with the driver became a great memory. This Accommodation is perfect for Onsen lovers who want to unwind and feel refreshed. We would love to stay again and highly recommend it.

    We stayed here to celebrate an anniversary. Having a private open-air bath in the room was wonderful, and we loved being able to enjoy the Onsen whenever and for as long as we wanted. We were able to relax in the Onsen and enjoy a truly special time. Both dinner and breakfast were very satisfying, and it was especially memorable to taste so many local specialties.     A Sunrise to Share with Someone Special

    We stayed here to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. The most moving part of this stay was the sunrise over the ocean as seen from our Room. It was truly breathtaking—one of the most unforgettable views I’ve ever experienced. Thanks to the staff letting us know the sunrise time at check-in, we were able to see it at the perfect moment, and it became a memory we will cherish for a lifetime. It’s a view I would highly recommend sharing with someone special. Everyone on staff was very kind, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. The open-air bath in the morning was also exceptional; relaxing while feeling the pleasant sea breeze was incredibly soothing. The Room was wonderful as well, and we were able to fully enjoy our special day. Thanks to you, we were able to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday as an amazing, lasting memory. We’re truly grateful for such a lovely experience. If we have another opportunity, we would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    We had a very comfortable stay.

    This was my first stay. We arrived earlier than the check-in time, but three staff members came running from the back and welcomed us warmly. The Hotel had a lovely fragrance throughout, and the welcome drink and sweets were delicious. The Room was spacious enough, the bed was very comfortable, and the open-air bath was the best we have ever experienced in both size and comfort. All of the Room service food was excellent, and having all soft drinks free of charge—including at the restaurant—was a wonderful service for us since we do not drink alcohol. The meals were truly outstanding! Everything looked beautiful, the tableware was elegant, and both the variety and portion sizes were more than satisfying. The staff who assisted us kept a perfect sense of distance, gave clear explanations, answered our questions politely and kindly, and we were also grateful to those who saw us off. We left thinking there was nothing to fault, but I do have a couple of small requests. The handles of the spoons in our Room felt slightly sticky. I’m sure they had been washed, but it would feel more reassuring if cutlery were brought together with Room service meals. Also, since there are not many places to spend time inside the Hotel besides dining areas, you end up staying in your Room most of the time. If there were a spot where guests could enjoy coffee at any time, it would be perfect. That said, this was truly a wonderful Hotel. Every staff member was genuinely kind. Thank you very much. We would love to return to enjoy seasonal dishes in another season as well.

    Because our stay at ...

    Because our stay at Goto Retreat was so wonderful, we chose Atagawa for this trip as well. We were able to relax deeply throughout our stay and were very satisfied with the hospitality of the staff and the atmosphere inside the Accommodation. We would love to return, and we have already made our next Reservation. There is just one point I wanted to mention. Our dining table was arranged side by side facing the ocean rather than seated across from each other. During daylight hours, it was lovely to enjoy the meal while looking out at the sea. However, once it became dark outside, the window turned into a mirror, reflecting us as well as guests seated on both sides. It felt a bit unsettling not knowing where to look while eating, and it was disappointing that we couldn’t fully savor such wonderful dishes at a relaxed pace. Overall, we are very satisfied and are looking forward to our next stay. If possible, we would appreciate it if you could prepare a standard face-to-face table for us next time.

    The most wonderful Ryokan

    I stayed on the 5th. The weather was cloudy and then rainy that day, so the view was unfortunately not at its best, but I am grateful for the wonderful Room and the excellent service that more than made up for it. I stayed in a Room renovated from what used to be a large public bath, and it was unlike anything I have ever experienced—an exceptional blend of nostalgic charm and modern design. Above all, the open-air bath in the Room was incredibly spacious and felt more magnificent than anything I have seen before. The room service was complimentary, high quality, and very satisfying. Most of all, I would like to express my deepest thanks to the staff member who served us at dinner—the gentleman with black-rimmed glasses. We made a Reservation through IKYU for a course with drink pairing and an ocean-view setting. He respected our pace as much as possible while providing clear explanations of each dish, kindly offering drinks as well. I was truly moved by hospitality beyond my expectations. From the bottom of my heart, I would love to be served by him again. Thank you sincerely for making this an unforgettable trip. I will definitely return.

    This was my second stay.

    This was my second stay, and it was just as wonderful as the first. One concern was the service at the restaurant. I appreciated how hard the staff were working, but considering the price range, it felt like their service level is still in a training phase. At checkout, there was also an incorrect charge for drinks. (When I was asked to sign in the corridor after dinner, I had been drinking and signed without checking the details—something I regret.) Although there were a few disappointing aspects regarding service, the Facility and overall atmosphere are truly excellent, and it is a Hotel I would like to visit again.

    Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great.

    I made a Reservation thinking I might just make it before the rainy season, but it started on the day of my stay, and with half cloudy skies and half rain, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t fully enjoy everything this Accommodation has to offer. What was great was the kind service from the staff (including international staff), the overall cleanliness of the Facility, the spacious Room, and the complimentary in-room service. Also, I had seen quite a few Reviews complaining about meal operations, but for me there were no issues at all—it was very good. The Room I stayed in was a Standard room. The in-room bath was nice, but I did wish there were also a large public bath. Rooms above Standard seem to be better equipped with features like saunas, so guests in those Rooms may not feel this way. The food was delicious, but it somehow felt a little lacking (not in quantity). Also—this can’t really be helped—the guests at the nearby table were a German couple. They ate quietly, which was nice, but their perfume scent was strong and interfered with my meal; it really diminished how enjoyable the food tasted, which was disappointing. There may still be room for improvement in the renovation of the dining area. Over these past few years I’ve stayed at many Accommodations—maybe my senses have become dulled—but overall I had almost no complaints. However, my personal impression is that it didn’t leave enough of an impact to make me feel I absolutely must return.

    Completely satisfied with everything.

    The Room, Onsen, cuisine, and service were all of an exceptionally high standard, and we were completely satisfied in every respect. Perched on a hilltop, the view from our Room overlooked the sea of Eastern Izu, with Oshima stretching out beyond it to welcome us. The next morning, we were able to enjoy the sunrise rising from the left side of Oshima from the open-air bath, making for a truly blissful start to the day. Although train services on the Izu Kyuko Line were unexpectedly suspended due to typhoon damage, the Accommodation staff kindly and thoroughly advised us on access options and Shuttle Service arrangements. This is an Accommodation we would love to return to.

    A Comfortable Stay

    We stayed for one night in a Lounge Suite during Golden Week. From the time of our Reservation through check-in and throughout our stay, we received courteous and attentive service. Not only was each staff member professional, but coordination between different teams was also excellent, making our stay very comfortable. We were very satisfied with both dinner and breakfast, enjoying local Izu ingredients and dishes. Dinner in particular was outstanding—each carefully crafted course was delicious. One suggestion: the burner flame for the breakfast Ikenda-ni miso hot pot felt too strong for this dish, so we had to turn it off midway to prevent it from boiling down too much. If this could be adjusted, we feel the flavor could be enjoyed fully until the end. Thank you very much for taking such great care of our family of four.

    Something sad happened right after I arrived.

    This year, to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, we splurged and made a two-night Reservation. Right after we arrived, we handed over our car and checked in. As soon as we got to the Room, I realized I had left something in the car. When I went back to get it, I was shocked to find the car had been left unlocked. If I hadn’t forgotten anything, it would have stayed that way until the next day... If something had been stolen, we wouldn’t even have realized it was unlocked—so we probably wouldn’t have been able to file any claim for compensation, right? It was frightening and extremely disappointing. My husband said he mentioned it at the front desk on his way back, but afterward there was no apology call, and nothing was said even at check-out. Also, there were nightwear provided in the Room. Since I’m short, I asked at the front desk—on my way out—if they could exchange it for a smaller size if available. The staff member replied without making eye contact and looking down, which honestly made me feel uneasy. This trip was far from becoming a happy memory, and I left feeling deeply sad.

    A Hotel with Stunning Ocean Views

    Unlike many places these days, there were few foreign staff members, and the attentive, distinctly Japanese hospitality made us feel at ease and truly relaxed throughout our stay. As this Hotel appears to be a renovation of an older property, we could sense traces of the Showa era here and there. For example, the doors are not automatic and must be opened with a key, and some in-Room partitions seem to have been reused; this felt slightly out of place compared with the otherwise fresh, modern interior after renovation. Above all, the view was outstanding—the Suruga Bay seen from the open-air Onsen left us feeling truly enriched. Getting to the Hotel is easy if you enter by passing in front of another Hotel nearby, but first-time visitors will likely get lost even with navigation guidance. We ended up driving around narrow roads typical of an Onsen area about twice. I felt some measures would help, such as installing directional signs. The meals used local ingredients and were enjoyable both visually and in taste, but I felt there was not enough attention paid to our dining pace. We had to wait quite a long time between courses as each dish was served one after another. I may be mistaken, but it also seemed that a couple seated next to us at the counter—who sat down about 30 minutes later—were not served in the order listed on their menu. This may have been due to kitchen circumstances; however, partway through they appeared to receive the same dishes as we did, which surprised me and caught my attention. Regarding the four-glass pairing as well, I questioned the timing; only the grape varieties were explained verbally, and we were not shown any of the actual bottles at all. For wine lovers, this was somewhat stressful. I felt that not only does the Hotel need renovation—there should also be a renewal in staff awareness and service execution that comes with it.

    An Accommodation where you can relax and unwind

    I’ve traveled to many places with my mother, and this may have been the best Accommodation we’ve ever stayed at. The gentle hospitality, the thorough cleanliness of every corner of the Room, and the comfortable furniture—including the bed—made it easy to sleep, sit, and truly relax. The Onsen suited me well; it felt soothing and I felt my fatigue melt away. Above all, the ocean view was breathtaking. Even in rainy weather, the gradient of gray sky and sea was beautiful and dreamlike; on sunny days, the blue sky and sparkling blue water were just as stunning. I was moved by scenery that took my breath away in both sun and rain. The sunrise—and even the darkness before it—was wonderful. Being naturally away from smartphones and other devices, quietly relaxing in the Room while taking in the view gave me a slow, peaceful time that truly healed both body and mind. The meals were also beautifully presented, delicate, and delicious. I was very satisfied. If I had one small complaint: I loved them so much that I later ordered them online, but there was only one tea bag each of guri-cha Japanese black tea and green tea in the Room. Since two people were staying, it would have been perfect if there had been two of each. There were two coffees provided, but not everyone is a coffee lover. Still, this is an Accommodation I would definitely like to stay at again.

    This is the Accommodation I’ve decided to return to.

    I recently stayed here, and my experience was wonderful from start to finish. The Accommodation was clean and had a calm atmosphere where I could truly relax. The staff were courteous and made me feel very comfortable. I could tell they paid attention to even the smallest details, which allowed me to stay with peace of mind. The meals were also delicious, and I was fully satisfied with both the quality and the portions. I don’t usually write a Review, but this stay was so good that I couldn’t help it. At check-out, I went ahead and made my next Reservation as well. I’m looking forward to visiting again. Thank you very much.

    This was my first stay, and it was a very comfortable Accommodation. As it has just been renovated, there were a few minor misunderstandings, but the thoughtful hospitality more than made up for it, and we truly enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much.     I don’t think I’ll visit again until the operation becomes more established. In particular, the dinner environment was terrible—surrounded by families with children, it felt like a family restaurant or an izakaya. Even when I told the staff, they only said, “Please write it in the survey.” The food may have been good, but I don’t even remember it. The bath and amenities were good. I’m not sure whether the hot spring water was free-flowing from the source.

    A wonderful first st...

    A wonderful first stay—an experience that reminded me of the value of learning from the past. I was able to relax in a spacious, renovated Room. The only minor concerns were the stepping-stone pebble path from the shower booth to the bath (not very comfortable underfoot), the level of soundproofing, and that the rice at breakfast wasn’t in great condition. I also really enjoyed chatting with the sommelier during dinner—it was truly refreshing!
