    I don’t think I’ll v...

    I don’t think I’ll visit again until the operation becomes more established. In particular, the dinner environment was terrible—surrounded by families with children, it felt like a family restaurant or an izakaya. Even when I told the staff, they only said, “Please write it in the survey.” The food may have been good, but I don’t even remember it. The bath and amenities were good. I’m not sure whether the hot spring water was free-flowing from the source.

    A wonderful first st...

    A wonderful first stay—an experience that reminded me of the value of learning from the past. I was able to relax in a spacious, renovated Room. The only minor concerns were the stepping-stone pebble path from the shower booth to the bath (not very comfortable underfoot), the level of soundproofing, and that the rice at breakfast wasn’t in great condition. I also really enjoyed chatting with the sommelier during dinner—it was truly refreshing!

    A true retreat

    I was able to spend a truly relaxing and luxurious time. From the moment we arrived at the entrance until our departure, the courteous and friendly service from every staff member we encountered was very pleasant. On the second day, we requested eco-cleaning, and we were grateful for how efficiently they prepared a comfortable environment. The spacious open-air bath was wonderful, with a refreshing sea breeze. They also told us the sunrise time, so soaking in the morning while watching Oshima and the rising sun left an especially strong impression. Both dinner and breakfast featuring local ingredients were delicious, and we also enjoyed the beautiful presentation. The explanations of the wine and dishes were fascinating as well. Room service was easy to use. I would definitely like to visit again.

    I expected too much.

    This was my fourth retreat stay, following Aonagi, Goto, and Iki. I had high expectations because the previous three were excellent, but the meals were very disappointing. First, many items at both dinner and breakfast seemed overcooked. The fish and spiny lobster were tough and dry; the meat and Japanese vegetables were decent, but the Western vegetables lost their aroma and texture. Second, breakfast seasoning was generally too light. Despite the variety of dishes, there was little contrast in flavors, so it didn’t pair well with rice. Also, for the two-tier wooden box at breakfast, I think it would be easier to eat if the “Izu no Mezame” box were placed in front.

    Wonderful in-Room bath

    The moment I stepped into the Hotel, I felt a nostalgic escape from everyday life, surrounded by the beautiful sea and tasteful 1970s-inspired interiors. The Room made me feel even closer to the ocean—sitting on a chair on the spacious terrace, gazing at the sparkling horizon and taking a deep breath. A true retreat. The refrigerator was stocked with carefully selected items such as bottled straight fruit juice, local beer and milk, drip coffee, and Japanese black tea—and room service was also free of charge. I was also soothed by the fragrance of the high-quality amenities. The in-Room bath was fed directly from the hot spring source, with an ocean view right in front of me. It was so spacious that even stretching out my legs couldn’t reach—beautifully designed, and truly the best I’ve ever experienced. Meals featured fresh seafood with delicate seasoning, and we were able to enjoy them slowly alongside attentive, heartfelt service. The next morning our whole family felt great—I think this is a wonderful Hotel worth staying at for its own sake.

    Open-air bath in the Room

    When I took a bath in the morning, the water temperature was low and it felt cold. They responded immediately. There were only a few souvenir shops. It would have been better to have a fresh vegetable salad at breakfast and dinner.

    Exceeded expectations

    Having previously stayed at Setouchi Retreat Aonagi and been very impressed, I was also curious about this newly renovated and reopened Atagawa Suiko. With complimentary room service including the minibar and light snacks, I spent my stay simply eating, drinking, and enjoying the Onsen. The desserts were especially delicious. Both dinner and breakfast exceeded my expectations in both quality and quantity, and I was extremely satisfied. The only disappointment was that, perhaps because it had just opened, some staff seemed inexperienced and there were a few moments when I felt uneasy about the service. Also, the table tennis room was locked, and it wasn’t very clear how to use it. Overall, though, it was a truly satisfying stay, and I definitely want to return again. Thank you very much for taking such good care of me.

    It’s a Hotel where I’d like to enjoy a Multiple Night Stay again after a long time.

    The building may be old, but it has been nicely renovated and did not feel dated. The Room was excellent in every way—spacious, practical, and very clean! The meals were also very delicious, and they kindly accommodated our preferences. We would love to stay again.

    The in-Room bath and the staff service are both excellent.

    I stayed for one night in mid-March. As it had only recently been renovated, the entire Facility—including the lobby lounge and the room—was clean and made for a very comfortable stay. It was very windy that day, so I couldn’t soak for long, but the covered area is spacious, so even in rainy weather it wouldn’t be an issue, and most importantly, the view is outstanding. Room service is well stocked, but I was disappointed that there was no tomato caprese. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious; however, at dinner the teapot for the ochazuke broth had a handle that came off easily when pouring, and the broth itself was lukewarm—so I deducted one point. All of the staff were pleasant from start to finish, and their service was perfect. I love traveling to the Izu area, so I’d like to visit again someday.

    A luxurious staycation with stunning ocean views

    This was my first time staying at an Onko Chishin–series Accommodation. This time, I stayed in the [Standard] Room with a natural hot-spring open-air bath and ocean view. Both the shared areas and the Room were spacious, with a calm atmosphere throughout, so I was able to relax from the moment I arrived. The ocean view from the large window in the Room was breathtaking, and spending time watching the waves and horizon felt truly luxurious. In particular, the sea was especially beautiful in the morning, and it left a lasting impression to start the day slowly while looking out at the sparkling water in the sunrise. The open-air bath in the Room was also wonderful, and I loved being able to soak whenever I wanted. Bathing while listening to the sound of waves was incredibly soothing—I lost track of time and enjoyed it again and again. A complimentary minibar and room service were available as well, which felt like comfortable service with nothing lacking or excessive. All staff were courteous, offering attentive yet pleasantly unobtrusive hospitality. There isn’t a lounge or spa like you’d find at a large Hotel, but that makes it an excellent Accommodation for those who want peace and quiet or a stay focused on relaxing indoors. With a limited number of Rooms, there were few chances to run into other guests, allowing me to enjoy a consistently tranquil stay. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, and chatting with the sommelier made for an especially memorable time. I would highly recommend this Accommodation to anyone who values unhurried time—and I would love to visit again.

    We enjoyed ourselves...

    We enjoyed ourselves until late at night in the karaoke Room attached to our Room, and everything—from room-service food and drinks to the open-air bath, sauna, and even table tennis—was something the whole family could enjoy, making it feel like a dream. Both dinner and breakfast were also very delicious. We are truly grateful for a wonderful birthday trip for our two children.

    Izu Atagawa’s Finest Renovated Onsen Hotel Accommodation

    It was a refreshing weekend at the Atagawa Onsen Hotel Accommodation, renovated in 2025 by the Onko Chishin Group. It’s just a few minutes on foot up the hill from Izu-Atagawa Station, and we truly appreciated the MIZWA hired-car Shuttle Service on the way back. We enjoyed a lavish dinner and breakfast creatively prepared with local ingredients, and were impressed by the wide variety of dishes and meticulous attention to detail. The in-Room Onsen Facility was also wonderful—although we missed the moon road this time, we got our revenge by seeing the sunrise road, making it an unforgettable memory. Finally, all staff provided top-tier service; everyone was so kind and attentive, for which we are deeply grateful.

    It became a once-in-a-lifetime memory.

    We visited to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. From my email inquiry in advance, the staff responded with great care, and I headed there feeling truly excited. I had made a Reservation even before the grand opening and had been checking the Hotel’s Instagram regularly, so when I finally arrived and stepped into the lobby, I was genuinely moved. The space is sophisticated—beautifully modern with just the right touch of retro atmosphere—creating a mix of comfort and a slightly special, elevated feeling. The lobby alone is incredibly appealing. At check-in, it was a little disappointing that my request for late check-out (which I had mentioned beforehand) didn’t seem to come through properly. (It may have been how I explained it—I tried to discuss it by email because I didn’t really want him to know about the extra fee…) Still, it was absolutely worth paying for. The welcome sweet buns were also outstanding. The Room was spacious and open, and extremely comfortable. Sitting on the balcony with the sea breeze felt wonderful, and we were able to relax slowly in the evening, at night, and again in the morning. I researched many Hotels, but it’s rare to find a Room where you can see such a wide ocean view right from bed as soon as you wake up—and that was the main reason we chose this Hotel—so I was truly impressed by the view when we woke up. Above all, the Onsen felt amazing; bathing at dawn as the sun rose is something I will never forget for as long as I live. I believe Higashi-Izu is known for its beautiful sunrise views, but being able to enjoy that scenery while soaking in an Onsen all to yourself is simply unforgettable. Guests should definitely wake up early to experience it. As for dining, despite having an unusually long list of ingredients I can’t eat, everything was handled thoughtfully and carefully—and even my picky boyfriend was completely satisfied. They also added a message to our dessert, and we were given a printed copy on our way out; that made me so happy that we now display it at home with care. The only regret is that Room service offered so many of my favorites that I overindulged (entirely my own fault) and ended up not feeling well afterward. We were also allowed to spend time in the lobby until our train departure time on our last day, and being offered warm drinks felt like such a lovely service touch as well. This has become quite long—but this was honestly the first time I’ve stayed at a Hotel where every part of our visit felt this wonderful. It isn’t exactly an easy price point for us casually—but if we have another opportunity, we would love to return again someday. Thank you very much."""

    The meals are delicious.

    The view from the Room was great, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I think the breakfast operation could be improved. There was no staff member to guide us at the entrance, so we waited a bit. I eventually walked around the restaurant looking for someone. That was the only downside. Everything else was wonderful. I will visit again.

    It left me a bit disappointed...

    After visiting the Setouchi retreat a few years ago and thoroughly enjoying it, I have since stayed at two other retreats as well—this was my fourth retreat visit overall. Perhaps because my expectations were high, I was honestly disappointed in several aspects of the operations and dining. Compared with what is typically offered at Accommodations in this price range, there were a few points that made me wonder. For example, there was no greeting when we arrived at the entrance or when we reached the restaurant for dinner, which made me feel a bit uneasy (and from the exterior it’s also somewhat hard to tell whether it’s open). Some staff responses also felt rather businesslike. In addition, some dishes seemed as if they had been prepared in advance (at dinner, an appetizer fried with rice-cracker coating was served cold and damp, with a sticky texture—it honestly made me sad while eating it). The abalone shabu-shabu and steak were tender and delicious. The Facility as a whole has been renovated in a stylish way while incorporating some reclaimed materials (it doesn’t feel particularly luxurious). In particular, the bath in the Room is designed so that the water surface looks expansive; it felt open and very comfortable. (Not all areas are deep enough to soak fully, but there was still plenty of space to relax.)

    It was a precious, relaxing time.

    My husband was sleep-deprived and completely exhausted from the day before, so we had to leave partway through dinner. Thank you to the staff for your kind concern. Although we only made it through part of dinner, everything was carefully prepared, and the chawanmushi with its smooth texture was delicious. Breakfast also featured small portions, each thoughtfully made—gentle on the stomach yet full of flavor—and it conveyed how sincerely the head chef approaches cooking. The staff were wonderful as well, with a fresh and pleasant atmosphere. The Room was comfortable, with thorough cleaning in every corner. If I had to mention one thing, perhaps it would be worth rechecking the glassware inside the shelves; otherwise, everything was excellent. The in-room bath was the best I’ve ever experienced. This is at the very top of my list of Accommodations I want to return to.

    It’s a problem if there is no running water during the stay.

    The lobby feels open and lovely. If we had come a few days earlier, we could have enjoyed the beautiful Kawazu cherry blossoms together with the sea. With that impression as you’re shown to your Room, you may feel a bit disappointed by the inexpensive renovation. (406) There was dust and debris in the gaps of the bamboo flooring in the veranda area, and I wondered why such a hard-to-clean material was chosen. The Room entrance and restroom also felt dated, giving off an old Ryokan atmosphere. The biggest issue was the bath. When stepping from the shower area into the bath, the door overlaps with a stone step, so if you’re not careful your foot could get caught and you might get injured. The door is also heavy and there are no handrails, so going in and out of the bath was quite nerve-racking. The meals were excellent, and they accommodated ingredients I can’t eat very well. Breakfast in particular was enjoyable to look at as well, with many small dishes. I wanted to leave feeling good about this Hotel, but around 10:30 before checkout, no water came out even when I turned on the tap. I was told that when local Onsen supply runs low, water sometimes stops—but not being able to use running water at this time of day while getting ready is unacceptable. It didn’t end on a positive note, but I hope for improvements going forward.

    Blissful Moments

    For the past few years, I’ve been spending the February long weekend in Izu. Now that my children are grown, I was able to fully enjoy some carefree time on my own again. Thank you so much. We were blessed with great weather all three days—visiting the Seven Lucky Gods around Atagawa Station, seeing the Kawazu cherry blossoms in full bloom, and the tiered Hina doll display at Susanoo Shrine in Inatori. This Accommodation became the perfect base for enjoying an early taste of spring in Izu. The Room was a wonderfully relaxing space, with a private open-air bath where I could soak anytime while looking out at the sea, and a fluffy bathrobe. Meals and wine enjoyed while chatting with the sommelier were also exceptional. The rest of the staff were equally attentive, and I’ve become a true fan of Suiko. I’d love to return solo in another season, and I’m sure coming with friends or family would be fun in a different way as well. I want everyone to know how wonderful it is—but honestly, it’s one of those Accommodations you almost want to keep secret.

    Izu Trip

    I visited expecting a high-end Ryokan, but the sashimi seemed to be farmed tuna and possibly amberjack, which was disappointing. I had hoped for local fish typical of the area. There didn’t seem to be a sense of fairness in the seating during meals, and I wondered what justified the difference despite paying quite a lot. It left me feeling uncomfortable. The Room location was excellent, and it became a good memory.

    Conveniently close by.

    The in-Room Onsen is beautifully designed, and the meals are delicious. I recommend this Accommodation as a go-to place for hosting friends when they visit nearby. The service still feels like it may be newly launched in some areas, but everyone is wonderful, and it’s a much-appreciated Accommodation within the Izu area.

    Wonderful Atagawa Onsen

    The Accommodation faces the sea, and our Room was a Japanese-style room on the 4th floor with a small courtyard garden, featuring a stone bath with a semi-open-air bath. Within the Facility, neither the Room nor the bath was very large, but soaking while taking in the spectacular view was pure bliss. Although it was a Japanese-style room, it had twin beds and a sofa as well, so we were able to relax comfortably. Meals were served in semi-private dining spaces, which gave a nice sense of privacy. We could take our time and truly enjoy both the delicious food and the beautiful tableware. We would definitely like to return. Thank you to all of your staff for your wonderful hospitality.

    It was a wonderful Hotel!!

    This time, I stayed at Izu Retreat Atagawa Suiko. The Room was Corner Suite 601 (with an open-air bath and sauna in the Room). Both the Hotel overall and the Room were very clean, and I was able to spend my time there very comfortably. The meals were excellent both dinner and breakfast, and everything was delicious. I was very satisfied with the wonderful cuisine that made great use of local ingredients. Many of the staff were Japanese, which is rare these days, and their attentive hospitality made it a very comfortable place to stay. It’s a Hotel I truly want to visit again. Thank you very much. *It was disappointing that draft beer wasn’t available during meals. I understand the focus on local craft beer, but some guests may not like craft beer—so it would be nice to have draft beer as an option.*

    I remembered this Hotel from a road I used to take. After being reborn with fewer Rooms, no large public bath, and enhanced private baths, it truly felt luxurious. The kids got excited in the Room with karaoke, and the adults could take turns enjoying it too—it was a wonderful time. However, we were looking forward to seeing how sleeping arrangements would work for five people, but two of us ended up on simple extra beds in the karaoke area, which was a bit disappointing. There was somehow a cigarette-like smell in the sealed Room, and it was also dry. We were able to borrow a humidifier, but I wish we had been told beforehand. Other than that, the meals were good, so I think it would have been great for two people. The cosmetics were also individually packaged, so we had trouble finding them—I wish someone had told us.

    The view was wonderful from both the Room and the bath, and it was lovely. The Room also had plenty of space, making it easy to relax. Having so many Rooms feels a bit unnecessary. It would be more convenient if the closet were in the bedroom. The meals were delicious and the portions were good. However, I felt there were not many kinds of sashimi. (The seared fish was not that great.) Hospitality comes from people. Some staff did not notice our arrival, and a few felt a bit businesslike. However, after checkout, a staff member offered to take photos for us, which became a valuable keepsake. Overall, for the price, I felt it was slightly lacking in satisfaction.

    Disappointing.

    The front desk staff were excellent, but the service at the restaurant was not: there were no smiles, and despite having informed them of my allergies at breakfast, there was no consideration at all. After about 10 minutes, a staff member noticed and replaced the food, but one item was still left as it was without anyone noticing. It ended up being an unpleasant trip for the first time in a long while.

    The Facility was new...

    The Facility was new and comfortable. The bath was spacious, allowing for a relaxing time while enjoying the view of Izu Oshima. Dinner was delicious and served in an appropriate portion for elderly guests. Although the amenities were somewhat lacking, it was a satisfying stay overall.

    Thank you for your stay with us recently. The Room with a private open-air bath was clean, spacious, and had a great view—it was amazing! I did find some long hairs here and there, which I disposed of (laughs). The room service was also excellent. For those who want to relax in the private open-air bath or the Room, this place is perfect! Unfortunately, I wanted to enjoy the large public bath and sauna as well as explore the garden if available. For nearly 90,000 yen per night on weekdays for a standard plan, it didn’t quite meet expectations. Looking forward to seeing improvements in the future. There are many great Ryokans around 70-80,000 yen—please strive to exceed them!

    The bath was excellent.

    The newly opened accommodation was modern and very clean. The room was spacious, new, and extremely comfortable. The bath was particularly outstanding, with a great view, perfect water temperature, and excellent spring quality. Although some reviews mentioned concerns about hospitality due to the recent opening, the staff provided smooth and courteous service without any noticeable inexperience. The female staff member who assisted with check-in was very polite and even informed us that we could see the "moon road" that evening since it had been a full moon the previous night. Thanks to her tip, I captured some beautiful and mystical photos—thank you! However, when I ordered room service twice during my stay, the person delivering it seemed busy and lacked friendliness, which was disappointing. To provide constructive feedback for improvement: - Hair was tangled around the legs of the chair in the bathroom. - The sofa had crumbs or powder-like residue from snacks (easily removable with a vacuum). - A metal ring from what appeared to be a drink container left by a previous guest remained on stones near the open-air bath. I noticed in other reviews that socks were not provided; however, they were available during my stay. Similarly mentioned were strong scents of shampoo or soap—while I agree they are distinctive fragrances that may not suit everyone’s preference. It would be nice if body towels were provided (I brought my own after reading reviews). The room we stayed in was very spacious; there seemed to be enough space beside both sides of the bed for massage chairs—it would have been great if one had been included since accommodations at similar price points often provide them. Regarding sleepwear: only single-piece yukata-style robes were available. These tend to absorb food odors easily and are less comfortable for sleeping compared to two-piece loungewear sets like samue-style outfits—it would be appreciated if such options could also be offered. As for meals—they were creative dishes presented beautifully with generous portions! Despite our faster dining pace as non-drinkers of alcohol—the timing between courses matched perfectly without delays—allowing us an enjoyable dining experience free from stress. Overall satisfaction exceeded expectations—I look forward eagerly toward staying again someday soon! Thank you so much!

    It didn't feel as luxurious as expected for a high-end Ryokan.

    As a newly opened hotel, expectations were high. The lobby offers a stunning ocean view, and the room provides a beautiful view of the Atagawa townscape. Meals are carefully prepared with attention to ingredients and feature creative touches, offering an exceptional take on traditional kaiseki cuisine. Every dish was delicious and highly satisfying. The service was excellent, especially the meticulous room service. However, amenities and room facilities were disappointing. While environmental considerations are appreciated, the amenities provided felt similar to those of a business hotel, which was underwhelming. Additionally, the door leading to the private open-air bath seemed old and difficult to open or close due to its narrow design; this could be challenging for women or elderly guests. Since there is no public bath available and frequent use of the private open-air bath is necessary, it would be better if wider doors that operate smoothly could be installed. Overall rating: 4 stars with hopes for future improvements.

    The view from the room exceeded expectations. Highly praised aspects included the meals, amenities, and the responsiveness of the staff. The meals were thoughtfully prepared and served in a delicious state. Even at accommodations costing several hundred thousand yen per night, it’s common to encounter pre-made dishes or ordinary ingredients and cooking methods that lack excitement. However, here, there was a perfect balance between well-executed classic dishes and innovative creations, which was truly impressive. As for amenities, offerings like UKA products demonstrated a genuine sense of hospitality without any compromise on quality. This was an accommodation I would love to stay at again.
