    A Pleasant Hotel

    This Hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Kintetsu Nara Station, right in front of Kofuku-ji Temple. The staff were cheerful, very pleasant, and kind, making our stay comfortable. It was also a nice surprise to find out the bath was an Onsen, which we didn’t know at the time of Reservation. From our Room we could see Kofuku-ji Temple straight ahead, but the pagoda was covered for repairs, which was the only disappointment. We heard the cover will be removed in 2034, so we’ll be back.

    This is an Accommodation I would like to visit again.

    A great location facing Sarusawa Pond, convenient for sightseeing in Nara, wonderful hospitality from the staff, and a delicious chagayu (tea porridge) breakfast—everything was excellent. We stayed in one of the new Rooms; it was more than spacious enough, and the Facility was convenient and very comfortable. Since it was winter, the large public bath felt a bit cold, but the bath in our Room was comfortable so it didn’t bother us. We used it for a family trip, and my parents were delighted as well. We would love to visit again. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

    It was cold, though...

    We stayed here with my mother, sister, and daughter (four of us) to celebrate my retirement. Thank you very much for upgrading us to a larger Room! There were chairs as well, so we could relax comfortably. The meals were just as the Reviews said—everything was delicious, and each piece of tableware was beautiful, making the dishes look wonderful too. The brown sugar pudding for dessert was unbelievably good. Breakfast also offered a variety of small dishes, and we were completely full. Of course, it was delicious. The women’s large public bath was smaller than I expected, but some guests happened to be leaving at the right time, so the four of us had it all to ourselves! We could really unwind. The hot water felt great. Everything was wonderful overall, but if I had to mention one thing, the heater noise bothered me during the night and woke me up a few times. Since it was a cold day, it was hard to adjust the temperature. The service was also excellent. It’s close to the shopping street and there’s even a Starbucks (lol), so it turned into a great trip.     A Satisfying Accommodation

    I started looking for an Accommodation because I wanted to see the Wakakusa Mountain Yamayaki and fireworks at least once. I chose this place right away because it’s within walking distance from the station, near Sarusawa Pond, and has a great reputation for delicious meals. On the day, the staff gave us disposable hand warmers, and we were able to enjoy the event from the rooftop—an unforgettable memory. The Room had a balcony, but unfortunately it was too cold to use it. It’s an Accommodation that makes me want to come back—I’d love to stay again during cherry blossom season. Thank you for your hospitality.

    The property is undeniably old.

    Convenient location I was satisfied with the hospitality of the front desk staff. The guest room had been renovated and was clean, and housekeeping was thorough. However, there was a musty smell typical of an old Ryokan. The large public bath was small. At dinner, the fuel for the shabu-shabu burner went out quickly (it was tiny to begin with). When I asked for more, I was told, “This will go out quickly too, so please add the ingredients right away.” Isn’t shabu-shabu meant to be eaten by swishing one slice of meat at a time? Breakfast was delicious. I will not be returning.

    I made a Reservation...

    I made a Reservation here because it had excellent Reviews, as I was attending my son’s graduation ceremony. To my surprise, we were upgraded, and the Room we were shown to was clean, lovely, and spacious—I was truly impressed. This time we stayed overnight only, but next time I’d like to enjoy the meals as well. On our way out, you kept waving goodbye until the very end—thank you for your warm hospitality throughout our stay. We’ll be back!

    Room with a View of Kofuku-ji Temple

    It was conveniently located near Kofuku-ji Temple and within walking distance of the station, but the age of the building really stood out.\nThe Room had just been renovated, which was nice, but the large public bath was small and old, which was a bit disappointing.\nThe inside of the building also felt dark and cold.\nHowever, the meals were delicious, and I could tell they are making a real effort.\nIf the bath is renovated and once restoration of the five-story pagoda is completed so it can be seen from the Room again, I think it would be an excellent Accommodation.

    Nara’s local cuisine is also delicious.

    I’ve heard that Nara can be quite demanding when it comes to judging cuisine, but the Japanese food at Asukaso is truly of an exceptionally high standard. You can taste the care and time put into the preparation in every dish. It has been over five years since I started visiting Asukaso every year, and I’m impressed by the meals every single time. The staff’s service is also excellent.

    It was a great stay.

    I was looking for an Accommodation to stay one night while sightseeing in Nara, and chose this place for the dinner, the Onsen, and its location near Kasuga Taisha Shrine. The staff were very courteous and the food was delicious. Although Kofuku-ji Temple’s five-story pagoda was under restoration and not visible, I enjoyed soaking in the open-air bath and had a wonderful, atmospheric time with my mother. I would definitely like to stay again.

    We were pleasantly s...

    We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary Room upgrade, and we really enjoyed the very spacious Room. The toilet lid opened automatically with a motion sensor, and we also enjoyed watching TV on the large screen. The meals were just as highly rated—everything was delicious. The staff were also very friendly and pleasant. Even after check-out, they waved to us until we were out of sight, which was very thoughtful. This is an Accommodation we would like to stay at again if we have the chance to visit Nara.

    Perfect location, amazing food!

    We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip. After reading Reviews praising the location and delicious food, we chose this Accommodation. Because it is not a large Hotel, there were no tour groups, and it had a calm atmosphere. The Room had been renovated and was (supposed to be) one with a view of Kofuku-ji’s five-story pagoda, but unfortunately it was covered with netting due to restoration work, so we couldn’t see it. Even so, we were very satisfied with the spacious Room, and we were able to visit Kofuku-ji—just a 5-minute walk away—first thing in the morning and take our time at the National Treasure Museum. The food was wonderful just as the Reviews said; everything was delicious, lightly seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared in ways you can’t easily recreate at home. All of the staff were very pleasant and answered our questions carefully. The only disappointment was that some areas inside the building, such as the large public bath, felt cold—perhaps because it suddenly turned colder? Other than that, we were extremely satisfied and would like to stay again if we have another chance to visit Nara.

    The meals were delicious, and it was a quiet and comfortable stay.

    I’ve stayed at many Accommodations, and this one ranks among the best. The location was convenient, and above all, the meals were delicious. I don’t like buffet-style dining, so I appreciated being served properly in a private room—it was much more relaxing than Accommodations in Kyoto. The Room was barrier-free and comfortable. They also had fresh flowers arranged beautifully, and the restaurant staff were very pleasant—highly recommended. I’ll visit again during cherry blossom season.

    Excellent hospitality.

    Although the Room, building, and Facilities have been renovated, they still feel a bit dated; however, the service from the staff around the front desk and their excellent sharing of guest information were outstanding. We were allowed to use the parking lot both before and after check-in, and thanks to their great handover communication, everything went very smoothly. During our stay as well, services such as tea service and timely check-ins at just the right distance made our time very comfortable.

    This is an Accommodation we highly recommend.

    This was my second stay, and it confirmed that I want to make this my regular Accommodation. The room type was the same as last time, but the layout and features were slightly different. The large round bathtub was wonderful. The complimentary items in the refrigerator were a great touch. I would love to visit again in a different season. Thank you for your hospitality.

    A welcoming Accommodation with exceptional hospitality

    It was wonderful hospitality, just as the Review said. Since there was availability, they upgraded us to a much higher-grade Room than our Reservation (maybe the best one?). The meals were delicious! I was impressed by the delicate seasoning that brought out the natural flavors of the ingredients. It was the best among Hotels in Nara. All staff members greeted us with smiles throughout our stay, making it a very pleasant experience. The layout and flow inside the building were also excellent. I’m very satisfied, but I have just two points to mention. The temperature of the open-air bath felt a bit low for this time of year. Also, I would appreciate it if there were a humidifier in the Room. I look forward to staying with you again when I visit Nara.

    Thank you for upgrad...

    Thank you for upgrading our Room. The bath water temperature was good, but we were disappointed that the open-air bath did not have a great view, perhaps because there are houses nearby. The food was very delicious.

    I’ve come to love Nara.

    On my initial Reservation, I couldn’t choose a Room for the dates I had planned, and breakfast wasn’t available either, but after seeing the photos I thought this Accommodation looked great and decided to book. When I arrived and checked in, I was told right away that my Room could be upgraded for today. The Room was Japanese-style, very spacious and open, and the view from the window was amazing. The in-room amenities—bed, TV, shower room, etc.—were all very satisfying. The front desk staff were flexible and attentive, and I really appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea provided. For bathing, I used both the open-air bath and the panoramic bath. Being able to enjoy an Onsen made it feel like an even better deal. I also asked about breakfast that couldn’t be added on the website, and was told it could be arranged. The next morning I enjoyed a luxurious breakfast—both taste and portion size were 120% satisfying. Considering sightseeing on foot, the Hotel’s location was excellent, and choosing this Accommodation was absolutely the right decision. I believe my wonderful time in Nara was thanks to Asukaso as well. This trip made me want to visit Nara again. Thank you very much to everyone at Asukaso for your hospitality.

    After walking about halfway around Sarusawa Pond, you will see the gray building, Asukaso. From start to finish, all the staff were smiling and very warm. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the dining hall, but each group had its own private Room. The tableware and dishes looked great and tasted wonderful—we were completely satisfied. There was also an electric heated mat under the chairs to keep our feet warm. The staff who brought each dish to us one by one were very pleasant as well, and we had a truly comfortable stay from arrival until departure. We would love to stay again next time. Thank you very much.

    To Nara National Museum

    I stayed one night in Nara for the first time in a while to visit the Shosoin Exhibition. The location is excellent—close to Nara Park, with great restaurants nearby. The staff were also kind. However, the Onsen bath area was a bit small.

    I use this place several times a year. This time, I stayed here with my parents and sister for a family gathering.     Excellent

    We recently stayed here for a trip with high school friends. Although it was a nearby destination in Nara, we had a relaxing time chatting and enjoying delicious meals, leaving everyone very satisfied. The barrier-free facilities were also appreciated considering our age. As mentioned in the reviews, the staff's prompt and courteous service was refreshing and comforting. On our way back, we wanted to shop at Hirano, and thanks to the front desk staff who called ahead for us, we were able to purchase souvenirs even though we arrived slightly early. One of my friends bought some konpeito (sugar candy), but upon returning home realized it was slightly past its expiration date. When she called about it, they sincerely apologized and immediately arranged to send a new item. Their response was so pleasant that I would love to visit again. Lastly, thank you for the champagne gift as part of being a Diamond member! It’s still quite hot these days—please take care of yourselves!

    A heartwarming and cozy accommodation.

    The staff kindly stored our luggage early on the day of our stay, and their exceptional and heartfelt service made us glad we chose Asukasou. The dinner was absolutely delicious, and the recommended sake tasting set was just the right amount for two people. The warm tamagoyaki at breakfast was comforting and incredibly tasty. Above all, the smiles and hospitality of the staff were outstanding, making us want to stay here again. We look forward to visiting again in the future!

    Coming of Age Celebration Wedding Celebration 88th Birthday Celebration

    A month filled with celebrations brought our entire family together. The main event was a celebration for my 88-year-old grandfather, who is still actively working. Since he’s shy, we kept it a surprise until the day of the event. The Hotel staff kindly cooperated with us to make it special—the food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly kind, making it a huge success. Thank you so much for all your help! When my grandmother, who wasn’t feeling well, needed to leave early, we truly appreciated the Shuttle Service to Nara Station. My grandfather from Nara was able to cherish many memories during this trip and was genuinely happy about it. We are so glad we chose such a wonderful Hotel! All 14 of us were completely satisfied!

    The food in Nara is delicious.

    A few years ago, during a trip back home, I stopped by Nara for sightseeing and initially thought the food in Nara wasn't great as rumored. However, after dining at Asukasou the following year, I started visiting Nara twice a year. The service is filled with kindness from all the staff. Now, I'm completely captivated by Asukasou's service, cuisine, and the sightseeing in Nara.

    We stayed as a group...

    We stayed as a group of five, including my son, his spouse, and their child. The meals felt somewhat lacking not only for me but also for the younger couple (both dinner and breakfast). It didn’t feel worth the price. The view from the bath wasn’t as shown in the photos, and the open-air bath was quite small. I don’t think I would want to stay here again.

    The accommodation "Asukasou" is truly wonderful with its cuisine and attentive service!

    I have stayed here about 10 times, and the cuisine is truly exceptional. The dashi, in particular, is absolutely top-notch. The menu changes with the seasons—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—which makes every visit exciting and worth looking forward to. The only downside is that the food is so delicious that I end up drinking too much sake! I enjoy visiting temples and shrines as a hobby, especially in Nara. Looking forward to the next meal!

    It was a lovely Room.

    The Room, service, and cuisine were excellent. I was able to relax very comfortably. After leaving my luggage and going out, when I returned in the afternoon to pick it up before departure, the staff kindly called a taxi for me and even offered tea while I waited.     Would love to stay again.

    I don't usually write reviews, but it was so wonderful that I decided to share my experience. The hospitality from everyone at the front desk, in the guest rooms, and during meals was exceptional. The meals were especially delicious and exceeded my expectations. I couldn't believe how great everything was for this price! On a minor note, I personally would have appreciated slightly larger trash bins in the bathroom and living area. I'm looking forward to visiting again!
