    This was my repeat s...

    This was my repeat stay. I traveled by train this time, and the Shuttle Service was arranged smoothly. After arriving, I was able to relax in the large public bath all to myself. I spent the evening on the rooftop terrace, then enjoyed a very satisfying dinner of beautifully presented Japanese cuisine featuring seasonal ingredients. Finally, they remembered that it was our wedding anniversary, which I had mentioned before, and surprised us with a dessert plate and a bouquet of flowers—I was truly moved. In my Room as well, I enjoyed the open-air bath many times and was able to rest both body and mind at a leisurely pace. I would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

    Customer Service

    The room service, meal delivery service, and front desk hospitality were all the best I have experienced in my 60-year working life. If printed instructions for operating the in-room lighting had been provided, it would have been a perfect 100 out of 100.

    Support for the Fireworks Festival

    I stayed in Atami to watch the fireworks festival. Thank you for providing Shuttle Service and guidance from the Hotel to the fireworks venue. Thanks to your support, I was able to enjoy the fireworks safely without getting lost. You even provided folding chairs, blankets, and disposable hand warmers for watching the fireworks. The Pacific Ocean view from my Room was also outstanding.

    A trip with my mother

    I visited for the first time in a while on a trip with my mother. The staff were extremely kind to my elderly mother, who has difficulty walking, and showed great consideration throughout the Accommodation, during meals, and when we went out. She truly enjoyed traveling again after such a long time. The Taiwanese staff in particular were especially warm and caring toward her, which made her very happy. Thank you very much. I would definitely like to stay again.

    Stayed one night at Tsuki no Michi. Both the Room and the bath were great. All the meals were delicious, and it was wonderful to watch the teppan cooking right in front of us. It would have been even better if the chef had smiled more. It was a lovely trip. Thank you very much.

    This was our first stay at “Sekaie.” We stayed as a group of four (two Rooms), and all four of us were extremely satisfied. The pick-up car at Atami Station, the breathtaking view from the Konpeki Terrace, the open-air bath in our Room, and the delicious meals. Above all, the thoughtful care shown by all the staff—it truly felt first-class. My elderly mother also praised it highly, saying, “I’ve never met such kind staff. Not just one person—everyone’s attentiveness was wonderful. I want to come again.” One small request: although many drinks were provided in the Room, there was no regular green tea. We would appreciate it if you could provide some—I wanted to brew it in that lovely teapot. We are truly grateful to the attentive staff. Thank you very much.

    I studied in advance, but

    Despite it being Monday, many guests were waiting to check in, and the welcome drink was delicious. Before long, check-in was complete, and we were shown to the Tsukinomichi Suite Room. I had watched YouTube videos many times beforehand, but experiencing it with all five senses was different—in a good way. From the spacious suite’s balcony, we enjoyed views of Sagami Bay, along with a daybed and an open-air bath with free-flowing natural hot spring water. Until dinner, we relaxed either in the Room or on the terrace on the 5th floor of the main building. For dinner at Hitoshio on the 2nd floor of Tsukinomichi, we made a Reservation for carefully selected seafood ingredients and meat dishes. The chef and service staff were exceptionally well trained, and both the ingredients and meat dishes truly lived up to their name—far more delicious than we imagined. With a few drinks as well, we slept deeply afterward. Breakfast was also excellent. My partner and I agreed that we would love to return if we have another chance—it was a wonderful one-night stay at Atami Sekaie.

    I had been intereste...

    I had been interested for a while, so this was my first time staying here. The Room was very clean, and the meals were excellent. Most drinks in the in-room refrigerator, including beer and juice, were complimentary, with more than enough variety—more than I could finish. I came looking forward to the full moon, but unfortunately it rained and I couldn’t see it at all, and I also couldn’t use the terrace. Because of that, I made my next Reservation during my stay. All the staff were friendly and smiling, which made for a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much.

    Used for a birthday celebration

    I brought my own wine, and they kindly provided a proper decanter. I also received a bouquet of flowers, which helped me relax and enjoy my stay. The food was also very delicious.

    We had a wonderful stay.

    From the Shuttle Service in Atami onward, all of the Hotel staff were very kind and attentive. The continuously flowing bath on the Room terrace was also very relaxing, and we used it many times. The ocean view stretching out before us was refreshing. Both dinner and breakfast were beautifully presented and delicious, and we were very satisfied. Thank you for the wonderful meal. The Room was easy to use, and the amenities were very well stocked. The only thing that concerned us was that the lighting in the Room was quite dim. I assume it is meant to create a mood, but my older husband seemed bothered by how dark it was. He especially struggled with how dim the washroom area was. Other than that, everything was perfect. We would like to stay again.

    Wonderful!

    We stayed for a Multiple Night Stay on the eve of the full moon and on the night of the full moon to celebrate our anniversary. The warm hospitality and smiles from all the staff left a lasting impression. The cuisine, Room, baths, attentive service—everything was wonderful. At dinner on the night of the full moon, we were given seats with a view of the moon, and we enjoyed our meal while gazing at the full moon and its reflection on the water through the window. The next morning, we were also able to see a beautiful sunrise from our Room. We look forward to visiting again soon and enjoying your seasonal cuisine. Thank you very much to all the staff.

    Welcome to your first stay at Sekaie!

    It was my first stay, and I had high expectations and was really looking forward to it. The staff, the meals, and the Onsen were all just as I had hoped, and I was able to relax and enjoy a wonderful time. Because it rained, we unfortunately couldn’t enjoy the scenic views like in everyone’s lovely photos—but that just gives us something to look forward to next time. Thank you very much!

    A Relaxing Retreat for Adults

    Our family of three stayed for two nights. We were very satisfied with the wonderful hospitality, ocean view, Onsen, and delicious meals. The teppanyaki was excellent, perfectly cooked by the chef. The abalone in the second day’s menu was especially delicious. The large public bath was disappointing, but the free-flowing natural hot spring water in our Room was at a comfortable temperature and very relaxing. This is an Accommodation we would like to visit again.

    Thank you for your support.

    I made a Reservation last year, but we couldn’t make it due to weather-related transportation disruptions. This year, we finally got our chance. We visited for our 2nd wedding anniversary trip, and both my husband and I were impressed from start to finish. The staff member who escorted us to our Room was extremely courteous, and we could really feel how thoroughly your hospitality standards are upheld. For meals, you kindly asked in advance about any ingredients we don’t like, and with the partitions in place, we were able to relax in a private setting. The Room was very clean. You also provided high-quality hair dryers and hair irons, which I truly appreciated as a woman. The open-air bath in the Room allowed us to adjust the temperature, so we could enjoy it comfortably depending on the weather and temperature. I usually plan our outings, but this time my husband said on his own, “Let’s come back here again next year!” When we visit again, thank you in advance for your continued hospitality.

    I will not be returning.

    I chose Sekaie for a trip with my mother, whom I was seeing for the first time in a while. The view from the lobby was wonderful, and the staff were polite, so I was excited as we were shown to our Room—but something quickly dampened my mood. First, the mirror in the Room: the handheld mirror was covered in fingerprints, to a level that made it obvious it hadn’t been wiped. The desk also seemed to have a glass surface, and due to light reflections I immediately noticed it was covered in fingerprints as well. I’m not usually someone who worries about small details, but this was honestly too much. I’ve never experienced this even at a Business Hotel. Especially with something as noticeable as a mirror being covered in fingerprints, I don’t think this should happen at a Hotel like Sekaie. Later, we visited the terrace on the 5th floor. There was only one sparkling wine glass available, so I asked a staff member if we could have another one for my mother. I was told there were no more, and they simply walked away. There weren’t many people using the terrace, and it didn’t look like used glasses were piling up—are there really that few glasses available? Normally I would have said another type of glass would be fine, but coming right after the mirror issue—and with how curtly it was handled—I ended up feeling quite sad overall. We were very satisfied with the open-air bath in our guest room and with the meals. However, since this is somewhere I had wanted to visit for so long, I never expected to feel this way. I’m sorry if this comes across like complaining, but I don’t think we will return.

    A Moonlit Night

    I stayed using the Full Moon Plan. Unlike the previous day’s weather, I was able to enjoy the moon in the night sky and was very satisfied. The staff were young, efficient, and made my stay very pleasant. The Onsen was also wonderful, with a slight sulfur scent—I went in many times. Both the taste and portion sizes of the meals were just right for seniors. This Accommodation offered value beyond its price. When I visit Atami, I will definitely stay here again. Thank you very much.

    It was a shame about the total lunar eclipse, but we were able to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay even with the bad weather.

    We stayed here to see the total lunar eclipse, but unfortunately we ran into a low-pressure system with a front. With strong winds and heavy rain, we gave up on the eclipse—and instead were able to relax and truly enjoy dinner. This was our seventh time dining here, and we always look forward to the creative seasonal dishes. The stay started with worries due to the bad weather, but thanks to the thoughtful support from Mr./Ms. S in charge of Reservations and Deputy Manager Mr. O, the next day turned out perfectly clear—truly a case of “all’s well that ends well.” We look forward to staying with you again. Because it rained on the first day, most photos in this Review ended up being of the food. It was just as beautiful as it was delicious. This stay reminded us once again that this Accommodation is comfortable even in bad weather.

    Is this really what you call top-class in Atami?

    While dining seems to be the main focus here, the teppanyaki is nothing beyond what you would expect. On top of that, the yukata absorbs the smell and made me feel sick. Since both breakfast and dinner use teppan cooking, the smell gets on you again. The service flow is also poor, and I don’t need a course-style meal first thing in the morning… It feels like they have to grill everything—either because they can’t help themselves or because they think it creates a “special” experience. If I go to Atami, I’d rather choose Mui Shizen or Pearl Star. Also, the TV remote batteries were dead, there wasn’t enough explanation about the room (perhaps because we are foreigners), and overall it didn’t feel worth the price.

    This was my first st...

    This was my first stay here with my daughter. The open-air bath in the Room was pleasantly hot, and we were able to relax while enjoying the view. The meals were delicious, and the staff’s hospitality was wonderful. In particular, I was deeply moved by the kindness and smile of a female staff member from overseas at breakfast, and I felt glad that we chose this Hotel. Thank you very much.

    A stable sense of security

    Because this Hotel is on a hill, the time spent soaking in the open-air bath while waiting for the sunrise becomes wonderfully addictive. It truly refreshes the mind. Every Accommodation in the Kato Group has great taste, so you can’t go wrong, and I also love how you can feel the chef’s care in every meal. The dishes are wonderful—simple, not overworked, and made with respect for quality ingredients.

    Thoughtful hospitality that feels wonderful

    From the moment we arrived at the drop-off area around check-in (about 3:30 p.m.), we felt thoughtful attention in the support there, the welcome drink, and the staff rechecking what we had written at the time of Reservation. The view and Facility on the top-floor observation deck were excellent, and so was the complimentary drinks service. As temperatures dropped in the evening, staff handed out lap blankets and disposable heat packs to everyone, which showed great consideration. The private room was calm, clean, and comfortable. We were told that “the hot spring source is very hot, so we lower the temperature,” and together with February’s outdoor air it was adjusted to an ideal bathing temperature (around 42°C?) for us. (This was my main purpose for coming.) My wife was also satisfied with the amenities. Meals (both breakfast and dinner) are served on floor L, and we were able to dine in a semi-private window-side space. There were plenty of dishes and generous portions—more than we could finish—and even the placement of plates felt carefully considered. We ordered a drink that wasn’t on the menu, and they kindly accommodated us. They also asked if we would like our remaining rice made into rice balls, which helped eliminate any feeling of waste—an excellent touch. Negatives When it was quiet, we could sometimes hear noises from next door (perhaps opening/closing of balcony doors or sneezing). For dinner, it was set up as “dinner while enjoying the night view,” with two seats side by side facing the window. However, because it was dark outside while bright inside, it became like a mirror in the pitch-black glass—the two of us and what was behind us reflected clearly. Breakfast was set up facing each other; perhaps dinner should be arranged that way as well. If you promote “dinner with a night view,” I think lighting should be reconsidered. (Even with a face-to-face setup like breakfast, you can still enjoy scenery through side windows.) We requested Japanese cuisine for both meals; for dinner in particular, rather than partially cooking/plating at tableside, it would be better to serve fully plated dishes. Dinner may be positioned as a “dinner course,” but some elements felt overproduced; it disrupted pacing and didn’t feel very smooth. For dinner’s mixed rice dish, shibazuke pickles were cooked together as an ingredient (a regional style?). Since pickles are already served separately on a small plate anyway? Perhaps to check timing for serving dishes, staff frequently walked back and forth along the corridor behind us. It would feel better if they could monitor from a bit farther away. We could hear staff relaying/confirming requests made to our assigned attendant with other staff members near our table—some additional discretion would be appreciated. From before check-in at the drop-off area through after check-out at departure pickup/drop-off area as well throughout our stay , we consistently felt genuine care from all staff members , allowing us to spend truly pleasant time .     This was my first stay. We were lucky with the weather, and the view from the Accommodation was amazing. The Room was spacious, and the service was excellent!! I’d love to visit again. The only disappointment was that I ended up sharing the large public bath with guests who had children… It was so noisy—almost as if they thought it was a pool—that I couldn’t relax. It wasn’t the Hotel’s fault, but this part was truly disappointing.

    Morning sun

    It was easy to get there because it’s close to Atami Station and offers a Shuttle Service. 1) The Room was comfortable, with plenty of towels and pajamas—very satisfying. 2) There were lots of drinks in the Room, which was convenient. 3) The hot water was excellent. 4) The meals were elaborate and extremely delicious. 5) The sunrise from the Room was beautiful. 6) The staff were attentive, and their greetings felt very pleasant. If I had to mention anything, the changing area of the large public bath had a slight musty smell. It might have been nice to have amenities that could be taken home. I’d like to visit again.

    The Ultimate Retreat Stay

    I stayed for one night as a solo guest. Having stayed at several other accommodations in Atami, I can confidently say that the staff's hospitality, the cuisine, the room, and the private open-air bath were all exceptionally satisfying! Both dinner and breakfast were like works of art, delicately crafted to engage all five senses, enjoyed in a beautifully atmospheric dining area. Above all, being able to gaze out at the expansive ocean from both the dining area and my room provided a truly refreshing experience. It was an exceptional retreat stay. Thank you very much!
