A well-balanced, comfortable Hotel with no notable drawbacks.
On the second morning, there wasn’t a single cloud and I could enjoy a magnificent view of Mt. Fuji from my Room. The bath and toilet were in a unit style, but since I used the large public bath it wasn’t an issue. The amenities included everything I needed, and the Room was more than spacious enough for one person. The service was excellent—everyone was kind and welcoming, even the housekeeping staff who greeted me when our eyes met from a distance—so I felt very comfortable throughout my stay. The large public bath had long opening hours, was spacious, and truly relaxing; there was also an ice pop service in the post-bath lounge. Dinner at the teppanyaki restaurant was outstanding, and breakfast (a Japanese set meal) was also great: rice refills were available, and tea plus aonori seaweed were provided so I could even enjoy ochazuke. With good weather as well, I enjoyed the fountain show in the cool evening air. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Lastly, as a coffee lover—and knowing this is admittedly a personal request—the only reason I marked down the Facility/amenities category is that there are many free spaces on site; if there were a guest lounge with self-service coffee (even just one coffee machine) and perhaps one recommended cold drink option, it would have felt even more luxurious. While breakfast was delicious, there was no coffee option other than the drip coffee provided in the Room. Also, thank you for the “Yama-musubi” sweets souvenir I received as an IKYU D benefit—it was very tasty. If I have another opportunity, I would love to return since there are many dinner options such as Italian cuisine as well; however, I do hope to see an improved coffee offering next time.

Excellent.
This was my second stay. I came back because I had such a great experience last time. Just like before, the staff were very kind, the Room was clean, and above all it was quiet, so I could relax and take it easy. The teppanyaki was different from last time and very delicious as well. I would love to stay again.

It had a calm atmosphere.
Although we were told the Hotel was fully booked on the day we stayed, the property is spacious, so it never felt crowded and we could relax comfortably. We had Italian cuisine for dinner and a Japanese-style breakfast, and both were delicious. We also enjoyed watching the fountain show in the courtyard and taking a walk while feeding the koi, making for a wonderful time.

The perfectly cooked Ezo abalone is exceptional—worth returning just for this dish.
My elderly mother and I stayed for one night (the second night of our three-night trip) in the Annex Special Room (Mt. Fuji & Garden Side). At 96 m², with very few partitions, the Room feels even more spacious than the number suggests. We were also able to see Mt. Fuji the next morning. The highlight was the ultimate course at Teppanyaki “Ginmeisui.” We sat at the counter, and our requested 6:00 p.m. start time was accommodated. The striped horse mackerel tartare topped with sea urchin and caviar was a perfect opening dish. The chilled Kobe beef shabu-shabu was cooked beautifully to medium-rare, with rich flavor throughout. The thick-cut beef tongue was tender yet full of umami, enhanced by charcoal grilling over a shichirin brazier. The spiny lobster was delicately cooked and seasoned, preserving its natural sweetness. Most memorable of all was the Ezo abalone. The balance between size and doneness was exquisite—according to the chef, it’s grilled to be “more tender than squid while still retaining abalone’s bite.” It paired perfectly with beurre bourguignon, and I honestly wanted to stay again just for this single dish. It is the best teppanyaki I have ever had. The 80 g filet from Kumamoto was served medium-rare, with deep flavor in the lean meat. The garlic rice with perilla seeds was wonderfully aromatic as well. For dessert we moved to another seating area and enjoyed crème brûlée topped with grapefruit and Crown melon while watching a fountain show. The only disappointment was that I couldn’t detect any aroma from the black truffle in the consommé soup—though the soup itself was delicious. For wine we had KENZO ESTATE “Asatsuyu” and “Rindo,” a Napa Valley white and red that paired beautifully with both abalone and wagyu beef. There are places around Japan where you can drink these wines, but not many Accommodations where you can enjoy them freely without needing a car or train afterward—and simply return straight to your Room. Being able to share drinks without worry as a couple or parent-and-child felt like a true luxury made possible by having everything on-site. The large public bath is spacious, with an open-air bath and sauna as well (the layout of the washing area is just slightly unusual). In the garden you can also try feeding koi fish. Even traveling with my elderly mother felt reassuring in terms of accessibility within the Accommodation. While it’s a bit of a walk from our Special Room to Ginmeisui via the main building, everything is connected indoors. The large public bath is in another building, but routes from our Room were thoughtfully designed overall. We were initially guided to covered parking, but since it looked narrow we asked to park outdoors instead—and they kindly accommodated us; they also helped carry our luggage. The teppanyaki staff were attentive throughout as well—I didn’t have a single negative impression anywhere during our stay.

A Hotel You’ll Be Glad You Chose
Thank you very much for taking such great care of us during our stay. This was our second visit, and because we had such a wonderful impression last time, we chose this Hotel again. And once again, we were completely satisfied—“This Hotel really is great!” From the moment we arrived at the drop-off area, we were welcomed warmly. Thank you. We had a detailed schedule this time and went in and out by car many times, but each time you responded kindly. The Onsen was clean and very pleasant to use. The cleaning is thorough and truly excellent. Our Room was also spotless, and we were able to relax comfortably in a clean space. We were also moved by the beautiful view of Mt. Fuji. At breakfast the next morning as well, we were greeted warmly from the entrance—thank you. The food was delicious with nothing to complain about. It was great last time too, and this time it fully lived up to our expectations. Even at checkout, your warm words—“We look forward to welcoming you again”—made us feel that we definitely want to come back. It felt like every staff member is working together toward the same goal in building this Hotel experience. I think it’s a truly wonderful Hotel. Please continue being such a lovely Hotel—we will visit again. Thank you very much for everything during our stay.

I’m satisfied with everything except the large public bath.
The Room and amenities were excellent. The staff were also very pleasant everywhere except at the breakfast venue. My son especially enjoyed feeding the koi and the ice pops after the bath. The sweets we received as an IKYU Diamond member benefit were also delicious. We only used breakfast. We had a 7:00 Reservation and arrived at the dining venue on time; after being shown to our table, we waited 20 minutes for the food to be served. While waiting, when I tried to ask for water and when I requested a refill of rice, I called out repeatedly to staff members passing by and even stood up, raised my hand, and waved widely, but no one noticed. In the end, I had to stand up and call out quite loudly. The food itself was generally good, but considering measures for wait times as well, I think there should at least be a salad bar and drink station. Even guests who prefer Japanese-style meals often want salad, orange juice, or coffee after their meal. My biggest complaint was the cleaning condition of the Onsen public bath (indoor bath). It seemed that mineral scale had not been removed: on the window side of the women’s bathtub area there were layered reddish-brown deposits that looked like stalactites or pinecones, which made me so uncomfortable that I stopped bathing. Since this is an indoor bath in a Hotel—not an open-air bath—it should be maintained so that you can clearly see the stone surface of the tub. This was not just typical discoloration on stone; for it to build up into layers like that suggests it has been left unattended for months. Because cleanliness/maintenance elsewhere and overall service were very good, this was truly disappointing. If not for this issue alone, given how excellent the location is, I would consider staying here every time as an overnight stop after traveling westward.

Perfect for relaxing
This Accommodation is so relaxing you could call it an adults-only Hotel. There are few Hotels in Gotemba with such a spacious garden. The fountain show at night is highly recommended. The kaiseki breakfast was gentle on the body and delicious. Since the outlet mall is nearby, I’ll be sure to stay again.

My Favorite Hotel
Because our previous stay was so wonderful, we stayed again this time with our grandchildren. The children really enjoyed feeding the koi in the garden, playing the soccer game on the observation floor, and the Onsen. All of the staff were polite, kind, and very pleasant. What we especially love about this Hotel is that the Room is spacious and clean, and the bed is queen-size—so it doesn’t feel cramped even with Child Sharing Existing Bedding. The delicious meals are also a big highlight. Last time we had Italian cuisine, and this time we enjoyed teppanyaki; both were truly delicious and we were very satisfied. Next time, we would like to return again to try Japanese cuisine.

We stayed here on a family trip.
The road leading in from the main street is a bit hard to find. The Room and bed were very spacious, clean, and comfortable. We chose Italian cuisine for dinner, and it was delicious. In the evening, we could watch the fountain show while dining, which made our young child very happy. There were various types of baths and we ended up staying a long time, but it would have been nice to have a regular fan. We fed the koi fish and went for walks, and were able to relax in an environment that didn’t feel like it was right next to the expressway.

Family Trip with Parents in Their 80s
We stayed here for a family trip with our parents in their 80s. The Room was spacious and spotless, with the toilet and bath separated, and a generously sized washbasin—everything exceeded our expectations! Both the Italian dinner and the Japanese breakfast were excellent. In particular, the main dishes of the Italian course (both the fish and meat) were outstanding, and the peach mille-feuille dessert was just the right size and not overly sweet—absolutely delicious. The staff who assisted us were also very pleasant, making it a thoroughly satisfying stay for our whole family. It was also great for my parents that we could take the elevator to get to the large public bath. The only disappointment was that Mt. Fuji didn’t show itself—but that can’t be helped! A staff member told us it’s often difficult in summer, so we’d love to visit again in a different season someday!

That’s great!
The sauna bath is great. The Onsen is great. The meals are great! The Room is great! It would be perfect if we could wear Mars Garden loungewear and go to the dining area. The Room lighting is a bit dim.

Our family looks forward to it every year.
This year again, we enjoyed a family trip for my birthday. This is the Hotel we look forward to staying at once a year when we return to Japan. We stay in a special room, and we always appreciate the wonderful hospitality. We also always look forward to the Onsen and the teppanyaki cuisine, and we are truly grateful to have spent another memorable anniversary this year!

We had a wonderful, restful stay!
After shopping at the outlet mall, we arrived just in time for our dinner reservation, but the front desk staff welcomed us warmly. The guidance was courteous, and the staff member who escorted us to our Room was also very attentive. They even upgraded our Room, and we were able to enjoy a wonderful weekend. The meal was delicious as well. We will definitely visit again. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

The Italian-inspired creative cuisine was outstanding.
Dinner at Fenice. I wasn’t sure at first whether panna cotta and consommé jelly would work together, but it was surprisingly delicious. The beet gnocchi and tagliolini that followed were also excellent. The pan-seared foie gras to finish was outstanding as well. Thank you very much.

It has become my regular Accommodation.
This was my third stay since first visiting last autumn. The Room is spacious and well stocked with amenities, making it easy to relax, and the staff are always pleasant and welcoming. This time, the lobby had items to help relieve fatigue—a thoughtful and appreciated service. I was able to unwind in the Onsen and then relax comfortably in my Room. I’m a fan of the Hotel’s teppanyaki dining, but my companion wanted a light dinner; since both the Italian and Japanese restaurants offered only set-course menus, we chose to eat out instead. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

A Special Stay That Began with the Rain
We stayed here for the first time to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. We made a Reservation for a high-floor Room with a Mt. Fuji view for our daughter, who loves Mt. Fuji, but unfortunately it rained on the first day, and although it was sunny on the second day, there were many clouds and we couldn’t see it. We knew it was just luck, but we were still a little disappointed. Even so, our stay was more wonderful than we could have imagined. The open-air Onsen bath was amazing—soaking while listening to the rain unique to the rainy season was truly relaxing. The next morning, when we opened the curtains and saw a huge rainbow, we felt incredibly happy. We had Italian cuisine for dinner, and everything was delicious while watching the beautiful fountain show. They even added birthday candles to our dessert and took photos for us, which became a lovely memory. Breakfast was also delicious, and feeding the koi in the garden was fun as well. No matter where we went—the front desk, restaurant, or public bath—the staff were consistently courteous and made our stay very comfortable. We are also sincerely grateful for the birthday gift prepared in our Room and the warm message card. There is just one thing: there was black mold around the mirror in the in-room bathroom, and we noticed some odor as well, so we avoided using it. That was our only disappointment; everything else was truly excellent. Next time, we would love to visit again between October and March when there is said to be a higher chance of seeing Mt. Fuji clearly. Thank you very much.

For your wedding anniversary...
Since our anniversary happened to fall on a Saturday, we spent the day at Fuji Safari Park, which we had visited with our children long ago, and then stayed one night at Mars Garden Wood Gotemba as a couple. When we entered the Room, an anniversary gift had been prepared for us, and it made me so happy. For dinner we chose Japanese cuisine, and everything was delicious—we were completely satisfied. The shabu-shabu broth in particular was outstanding. I’d love to visit again even just for the restaurant. The next day, after the rain stopped, we went up to the 12th-floor observation lounge. Another guest told us, “There’s a rainbow,” and although we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji, we were still very satisfied . We stopped by Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Yamanaka on the way home, but still couldn’t see Mt. Fuji. We arrived home safely and felt it was a truly wonderful anniversary.

Mt. Fuji View Room
Even though it was earlier than check-in time, the Shuttle Service from the station arrived to match our train schedule, which was very helpful. The entire property felt spacious and relaxing, with more than enough room—even in the Mt. Fuji viewing lounge. Although it was cloudy, we could still see Mt. Fuji—amazing! It was also lovely to take a walk through the well-maintained garden with koi swimming in it. We also appreciated the clean café in a separate building, where we could spend time until our next appointment—even just for coffee or a meal. We will visit again.

I’ve stayed at many hotels, but this was the best.
The night before, we stayed in Yokohama and took the Shinkansen, so we rented a car at Mishima Station and drove to the Hotel. The moment we were shown to our Room and opened the door, we were speechless—it was immaculately clean and beautifully maintained, incredibly spacious, and had a stunning Mt. Fuji view. Since there were three of us, they also connected single Rooms for us. Personally, that meant I didn’t have to worry about bothering my friends with snoring, so I slept very well. For dinner, we made an advance Reservation via TableCheck for the teppanyaki restaurant in the Hotel and reserved counter seats. The chef was neither intimidating nor grumpy nor overly chatty—just the perfect level of attentiveness—and answered our questions sincerely. I usually avoid anything with garlic, but the garlic rice was unbelievably good; I ended up stealing quite a bit from my friends (even though I’d already eaten plain rice too). The meat, seafood, and Shizuoka wasabi were all excellent. With an advance Reservation, tea was served by the bottle as well—we were treated to something rare and high-quality. There was also a wonderful fountain show during dinner, which made it even better. My two friends went to the large public bath, but I thoroughly enjoyed the large bathtub in our Room instead. However, because it’s so big it takes time to fill up—so it’s best to start running hot water early. In the morning I used the shower in the connecting Room; the water pressure felt slightly weak. It would be even better if this could be improved. On checkout day it was sunny, and we had a clear view of Mt. Fuji from our Room as well—it looked amazing. Even if you don’t book a Mt.-Fuji-view Room, there is an observation area where you can see Mt. Fuji too, so no need to worry. Staying at different hotels is actually one of my hobbies—from long-established properties to international brands to club floors… I’ve experienced places with outstanding staff or lounges that exceeded expectations—and also hotels with unbelievable issues or disappointing room layouts or lounge setups that left me dissatisfied. But Mars Garden Wood Gotemba is easily one of the top five Hotels I’ve ever stayed at among all my trips—truly wonderful overall. Thank you very much. Next time I’d love to come back again with family members as well.”

No view of Mt. Fuji.
I chose this Hotel to see Mt. Fuji and stayed in Room 509, advertised as the best viewpoint with an open-air bath (1 night: 148,400 yen; 81,015 yen after using Points). However, all of the viewing windows in this Room were fitted with heavy blinds, making it impossible to properly see outside. As a result, even during the day I could not see anything outside and had to spend the entire day in a dark room. This is unacceptable for a Hotel that welcomes guests.

Excellent service
The view of Mt. Fuji from the restaurant, along with the illuminated fountain and garden, was wonderful! Above all, the staff were fantastic. Everyone we interacted with—including the person who served us at the restaurant—was cheerful, friendly, and truly lovely. We had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

I was able to create wonderful memories with my wife and daughter.
I stayed with my wife and our daughter, who works far away. The Hotel’s interior, exterior, and room all offered a high level of relaxation in terms of atmosphere, cleanliness, tranquility, and comfort. Some staff members were foreign nationals and a few were not very fluent in Japanese, but most spoke it well overall. We enjoyed a course meal at the Italian restaurant, and everything was delicious. The beautifully maintained grounds were also wonderful, including a garden where fireflies were flying. The nighttime fountain show was beautiful and well worth watching. By making an early Reservation through IKYU, we were able to stay at a very reasonable price. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

Recommended Hotel
This was my first stay. I chose a Plan with breakfast included. Unfortunately, the weather was bad so I couldn’t see Mt. Fuji, but the Room was spacious and I was able to enjoy a relaxing, quiet holiday. Breakfast was Japanese-style. The dishes were generally lightly seasoned, but there were many items and it was very filling.

I want to give it another try!
This time, we made a Reservation here because the Reviews were good and the concept of “enjoying a bath while looking at Mt. Fuji” appealed to us. We also reserved the teppanyaki dinner menu with a variety of options—spiny lobster, abalone, steak, and more—and looked forward to our trip. However, as the date approached, the weather forecast became uncertain, and in the end we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji even once over the two days (Saturday and Sunday). So our original concept fell apart completely, but dinner far exceeded our expectations. Even my wife—who rarely gives high marks for meals—was delighted. That was the highlight. There were a few things we noticed: we wished the private open-air bath in the Room were a bit larger; that we could have enjoyed the view; and that my throat hadn’t gotten sore from the air conditioning (there was a humidifier, but with such a large Room it didn’t make much difference). Still, all of that was outweighed by how comfortable it was and how delicious the food was. I even found myself thinking on the drive home that I want to come back for another try at seeing Mt. Fuji. We’ll be visiting again—thank you in advance.

Breakfast
Overall, I was almost completely satisfied. Everything was very clean. Dinner was well-timed, and the attentive service was excellent. However, breakfast felt quite rushed, and it took nearly 20 minutes from being seated for the food to arrive. Even then, it only came after we asked, so we were kept waiting for quite a while.

Even though it was my first stay, I was upgraded to a spacious Room with an open-air bath, and I had a very comfortable time. The staff were excellent, and the Japanese breakfast was delicious. My only request is that the TV in the Room be connected to the internet.

The 9th night of a 10-day, 9-night trip
Driving into central Tokyo at the end of a long trip often means heavy traffic, so we stayed overnight in Gotemba to rest before heading home. This was our third visit. The Hotel is very high quality, and the Facility, Room, Onsen, meals, and service are all excellent, which is why we returned. The first two times we had teppanyaki for dinner and it was wonderful, so this time we chose Italian cuisine. The dishes were elaborate, but for us as older guests (late 60s), they were quite rich and didn’t suit our tastes. The house wine—both white and red—was also not very good. We would like to stay again next time, but we will choose teppanyaki.

Room with Private Indoor Bath
The Room with a private Onsen was wonderful. We enjoyed strolling around the grounds as a couple, feeding the koi and drinking the spring water. It was more in town than we expected, and at the outdoor bath we could hear construction noise nearby, which felt different from a rural Onsen. However, since we love shopping, we were satisfied spending both days shopping at Gotemba Premium Outlets. It’s also very close to Gotemba Premium Outlets and I think it’s close to the station as well. The meals were Japanese cuisine, mainly light and easy-to-digest fish dishes. They were delicious. For younger guests with bigger appetites, the separate Italian restaurant or the yakiniku restaurant on the first floor might be a better choice.
