    Enjoyed a 2-night, 3-day stay.

    We stayed as a couple in our 70s. We dined at the Cedar Palace Restaurant, which was spacious with a wide variety of menu options, and we were very satisfied with both breakfast and dinner! At Aqua Garden, there were plenty of staff ensuring safety, which gave us peace of mind. We avoided Aqua Beat as it seemed to be crowded with children. We stayed at the Hoshikan building, which was clean and made us feel elegant. The only downside is that Beppu Onsen is far from the airport, so we used a taxi for round-trip transportation this time.

    Family-friendly Hotel

    It was a mother-daughter trip. The facility was very spacious, and the shuttle service from the parking lot was appreciated. However, after check-out, we were told that the bus wouldn't come for a while. We had no choice but to carry our luggage ourselves to the parking lot. Since we stayed in Chukan, which was the closest building, it wasn't too bad for us, but it might have been difficult if we were staying in another building. The meals offered a wide variety of options and would likely satisfy younger guests. While we enjoyed them, such an extensive selection wasn't necessary for us. The bath on the top floor that we had been looking forward to was delightful with great views and satisfying features like tiered tubs with varying water temperatures. The room's washroom area felt cramped and inconvenient for two women doing makeup together. Since it was a weekday during our stay, it wasn’t overly crowded; however, I imagine that during peak season weekends, both the restaurant and baths could become extremely crowded with long waiting times. I think this place is well-suited for families with children but may not align well with adults seeking a relaxing getaway like ours.

    Family-friendly Hotel

    Ocean view from the 11th floor of the Star Building. The room was lovely with a raised Ryukyu tatami area, a cute table, and chairs. The Onsen and dining areas were spacious and the food was delicious, but it felt somewhat disorganized. The parking lot was quite far, and despite being a weekday in September, there were many families with young children, making it hard to relax due to crying and fussing noises everywhere. Having a dedicated Onsen and dining area for special rooms would be fantastic.

    Suginoi Hotel Hoshikan

    As it was a new building, my spouse and I stayed in a suite, while our grandchildren's family booked through IKYU.com and stayed in a room for four. The room size was sufficient, and the facility was average. The highlights were the pool, onsen, and meals, which our grandchildren seemed to thoroughly enjoy. Notably, although it was buffet-style dining, the quality, quantity, and taste of the food were excellent. However, there was one issue related to IKYU.com. Despite following the instructions on their platform for card payment with a discount displayed at checkout time (Usage Date: 2025/08/14 20:56; Amount: ¥382,440), no discount was applied even though we paid by card before our stay. It seems unlikely that anyone would make an additional payment during their stay when prepayment has already been made. Yet on IKYU.com’s system after our stay ended (Card Payment Date: Saturday 16th August 2025), no discount had been applied as promised. This kind of issue needs attention.

    New and beautiful Onsen Hotel

    I stayed at Sorakan Accommodation because it offered an all-you-can-drink buffet and a private open-air bath on the rooftop. Although the price is slightly higher for Kyushu, I found it to be very satisfying. I had a wonderful time with excellent meals and Onsen. The restaurant is large in scale but well-organized, so there was no waiting time, allowing me to enjoy as much food and drinks as I liked. There were so many types of alcohol that I couldn’t try them all!

    Genuine Review

    I stayed at the Sora Building this time, having visited once before its renovation. I was very excited to see the changes since it became part of the Orix Group. The staff's hospitality was outstanding. Their attention to detail, such as greetings and arranging carts, was impressive. Unlike many accommodations where only pools are available before check-in, I appreciated that even the spa could be used here. However, I found the pool overcrowded. It would be nice if measures like limiting access to guests during peak holiday seasons were implemented for a more relaxing experience. The pool water was cloudy, which was disappointing, but with plenty of slides available, children seemed to have a great time. Regarding amenities, I felt slightly let down—especially with the spa's cleansing product that didn’t effectively remove makeup or feel satisfactory in use. Nowadays, well-equipped amenities often determine a hotel's popularity. The guest room was clean with an excellent view; however, it was unfortunate that we couldn’t step out onto the balcony. If balconies are inaccessible, keeping window glass spotless would enhance enjoyment of the view further. Additionally, one bottle of mineral water per person wasn’t sufficient; having a water dispenser would be helpful. The vast property made moving around somewhat challenging at times. Considering that accommodation fees aren’t inexpensive and all amusement facilities require additional payment—with relatively high pricing—it felt like a drawback. That said, dining at SORA Restaurant turned out to be an exceptional experience that overshadowed these concerns entirely! When deciding on seating options between indoors or on the terrace area outside—the staff kindly suggested checking out terrace conditions first-hand before deciding—a thoughtful gesture deeply appreciated by us! With air conditioning ensuring comfort alongside breathtaking scenery paired perfectly alongside delicious cuisine far surpassing previous visits' standards altogether! Breakfast too enjoyed outdoors amidst serene surroundings left us feeling blissful right from morning itself! Onsen located atop offered mesmerizing views though temperature proved overly hot eliciting audible reactions among fellow bathers alike ("Hot!")—introducing benches/chairs nearby might enhance relaxation opportunities therein significantly overall! Oita Prefecture remains wonderful destination overall leaving family highly satisfied collectively thus prompting intentions toward returning someday soon perhaps opting instead stay within Hoshi Building next occasion round altogether!

    The World's Best View Bath

    The view of Beppu city and Beppu Bay from the open-air bath at dawn was unforgettable. The Facility is so spacious that it can be confusing for first-time visitors, but the young staff were kind and cheerful, which was greatly appreciated. There is a shuttle bus from the station to the Hotel entrance, and even after check-out, you can still use amenities like the pool—truly a luxurious experience. Chairs and sofas are generously placed throughout, showing thoughtful consideration. It was an enjoyable stay!

    The children were delighted.

    The pool may not have been very large from an adult's perspective, but the children enjoyed both pools. The projection mapping and fountain show were a big hit with the kids. Additionally, the view from the Onsen was excellent. Thank you to all the staff who worked diligently and courteously.

    Summer Vacation

    I use this place every year, but the quality of the food has declined. The steak, in particular, was tasteless and tough. The grilled saury in the morning was too small to enjoy. However, I am very satisfied with the service and will visit again next year.

    A Hotel You’ll Want to Stay at Again and Again

    I stayed at Chukan. In summer, there is a pool, and a free shuttle service is available from Beppu Station. You can enjoy the pool, Onsen, bowling, and more from the morning. The Onsen exclusive to Chukan offers stunning views and includes a mist sauna, making it enjoyable for an entire day. Above all, the breakfast and dinner buffets are outstanding. Whether Japanese, Western, or Chinese cuisine, every dish has an authentic taste with a changing lineup that ensures you never get bored no matter how many times you visit. This is my favorite hotel, and I keep coming back repeatedly.

    Resort Paradise

    The scale of the Hotel is truly impressive. At the same time, I was very satisfied with the well-equipped Facility and the smart, attentive service. It seems that both the Facility and service have been carefully designed to address any potential drawbacks of its large size. For example, while it required taking three elevators and passing through a long corridor to get from the guest room to the hot spring bath, there were various souvenir shops, game corners, and observation decks along the way that made even this journey enjoyable. Additionally, appropriate staff were stationed at key points such as arrival and departure areas or breakfast and dinner restaurants, ensuring a smooth experience without confusion. This Hotel fulfills all essential conditions for a pleasant trip.

    We stayed here for a family trip. We were offered an upgrade and moved to a larger Room, which made our stay very comfortable. The meals were buffet-style, and while the taste was average, there was a variety of options to enjoy. The Facility is spacious, so the number of people didn’t bother us much. We would love to visit again if we have the chance.

    A Fun One-Night Stay in Beppu

    Following the navigation system (Denso) with some doubt, I arrived at the Hotel. The road to the Hotel was a bit unsettling as it had no center line. (After returning home, I checked the access information on their website and found it clearly stated that "this road is narrow...") I was glad to arrive before it got dark. The Room was upgraded to an ocean view, but unfortunately, due to rain, there wasn’t much of a view. From Hoshikan to Tanayu and Cedar Palace, there was a bit of distance; however, the pathway was well-maintained and passing through shops along the way made for an enjoyable stroll. The buffet at Cedar Palace was delicious with some Japanese dishes available as well as alcohol and desserts to choose from—satisfying both morning and evening meals.

    The location is hard to find. I took a bus to the palace, but I didn’t notice where to take the escalator. The sign for "Tanayu" was unclear, so I couldn’t locate it.

    The shelf bath was excellent, but moving from the Room to the shelf bath or dining area (Cedar Palace) required passing through the souvenir shop and game center, which took time and dampened the desire to soak in the bath. Additionally, it was disappointing that the quality of meals seemed to have declined compared to when I visited a few years ago.

    Father's 60th Birthday Trip

    We stayed with my parents, my brother's family, and my younger brother for my father's 60th birthday trip. My father seemed to enjoy his time and was generally satisfied. We used the Sora building. The Room felt a bit small for the price but was clean. Despite confirming twice at reception when receiving the card keys, we were mistakenly guided to the wrong rooms—my parents' Room and ours were switched. As a result, although the Hotel had prepared a congratulatory letter for my father's milestone, we ended up handing it over ourselves, which spoiled the thoughtful service. However, we appreciated the warm gesture of preparing such a letter. The buffet offered a wide variety of food and drinks that we thoroughly enjoyed; most dishes tasted good as well. Unfortunately, some sashimi tasted off, which was disappointing. The non-alcoholic cocktails were delicious. We had one-year-old and infant children with us; staff kindly provided baby food options and high chairs upon request. They also seated us at a table spacious enough to accommodate two strollers comfortably. Although we didn’t use it in the end, they even offered bottle sterilization services. The Sora bath was similar to Tana bath in style—clean with comfortable water temperature—and they provided baby shampoo rentals as well. This was our first stay with young children but found it very comfortable overall. It would have been even better if there were written guides or explanations about baby-related services like baby food or bottle sterilization available in Rooms or during check-in. My father enjoyed his special day immensely, and our family found it child-friendly enough that we'd love to return on another occasion if possible! Thank you very much!

    A Wonderful Journey

    Overall, it was wonderful. Although I don't drink alcohol myself, my husband was very impressed with the all-you-can-drink alcohol option during dinner. We stayed for two nights, had a relaxing time, and felt refreshed—it was truly enjoyable.

    One-night stay during a school sports day holiday

    We stayed as a family. The dining hall was newly renovated, allowing for easy navigation, and we were very satisfied with the meal options. Our child loves boiled shrimp and enjoyed finding dishes with shrimp both in the morning and evening, eating plenty. They also loved trying various macarons for dessert, which they said were delicious. The hearty steak and authentic sushi were a big hit with my husband as well. In the evening, there was a kids' area where children could play after dinner, which was great for letting them burn off energy. We also had fun playing games and table tennis together. Although we couldn't enter Aqua Beat this time, we enjoyed the heated pool, which seemed to satisfy our children too. The lifeguards were attentive and observant, which left a good impression on us. One small suggestion would be to start the pool hours earlier than 11 AM; it would have been more convenient for us that way. In the morning, we explored Jigoku Meguri to pass some time before returning to enjoy the pool and Onsen facilities again. Overall, we had another wonderful family stay here—thank you!

    Completely satisfied

    We stayed at this accommodation during a family trip to Oita Prefecture, opting for a slightly higher-grade hotel. We stayed in the Sora Building, and the open-air onsen "Sorayu" with its panoramic view was incredibly relaxing. Since it was exclusive to the Sora Building, it wasn't crowded, and when we used it in the evening, we almost had it all to ourselves. The buffet for both dinner and breakfast was delicious overall, with unlimited drinks available. The scenery was beautiful, and the atmosphere was very comfortable. The entire hotel was clean with no noticeable dust or dirt; there were hardly any noises from other rooms, and the staff provided excellent service. Everything about this hotel exceeded expectations. It became a wonderful memory of our Beppu Onsen trip.

    Compared to other accommodations, the price is set on the higher side, so it might be ideal for special occasions or during children's summer vacations rather than for everyday use. Meals are served buffet-style with a wide variety of options, which was very satisfying. The selection of drinks is also abundant, so we recommend arriving with an appetite!

    I decided to stay in Beppu since I was going there unexpectedly, and thought it would be a great opportunity to enjoy an Onsen. This is a large hotel with many international tourists, but the Onsen facility is spacious, and the staff frequently collect towels and check the water quality, making it comfortable to use. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, including plenty of local ingredients that might leave you overwhelmed with choices—so it's recommended to go with enough time to enjoy it fully. One note: while I wasn't particular about the room this time, some rooms might feel cramped as there's barely any space left for shoes when pulling open the door inside. Please check in advance.

    No smiles at all. When asked if there are showers at Gold's Gym, the response was, "There are no showers there." That is exactly what we were inquiring about.

    Reliable Suginoi Hotel

    I have stayed here multiple times, and each visit has been an incredibly enjoyable experience. Visiting Beppu has essentially become synonymous with staying at Suginoi Hotel. This time, I stayed at the Hoshikan for the first time, and it was also very comfortable, allowing me to spend a wonderful time. The food was truly delicious, offering a delightful escape from everyday life. I was particularly impressed by the quality of the desserts and ended up trying several varieties. The excellent ingredients and meticulous preparation made my heart feel enriched. One minor concern was regarding the staff's movements in the buffet area. Compared to Sora Buffet, it seemed that staff at Hoshikan were slightly more relaxed in their pace, and there were occasions when I had to ask them to clear empty plates from our table. At Sora Buffet, tables were consistently kept tidy throughout meals, which left a lasting positive impression on me. That said, overall hospitality at Hoshikan was still very pleasant. All staff members were kind and attentive as always, providing that unique sense of reassurance that only Suginoi Hotel can offer. Lastly, if I may make one small request: it would be greatly appreciated if makeup magnifying mirrors could be provided in the rooms. Many guests may belong to generations requiring reading glasses or similar aids; considering this addition would be wonderful for future stays. I look forward to my next visit! Thank you very much!

    Enjoy the Onsen

    In the past, I always reserved a spacious sea-facing room, but this time I reserved a smaller 35㎡ sea-facing room. The room felt slightly cramped, but I was able to enjoy the Shelf Bath and Star Buffet. Additionally, the weather was great, and I could watch the sunrise from the Shelf Bath. It was a comfortable trip.
