    Open-Air Hot Spring Bath with Snow Views and Live Crab Cuisine

    After the heavy snowfall up to the day before, the Accommodation’s garden was completely covered in snow. From both the spacious indoor bath and the rock-built open-air bath, we could see the garden blanketed in deep snow—and even touch the snow from inside the bath. It was an experience you can’t usually have, even on a winter trip. For dinner, we enjoyed dishes unique to this place: sashimi, boiled crab, charcoal-grilled crab (the crab miso in the shell was also delicious), crab hot pot, and rice porridge to finish. Everything was excellent, and we fully enjoyed crab prepared in many different ways! The staff were attentive, and the grilled crab was perfectly fragrant and delicious. Thank you very much—we were glad we made the effort to come despite the snowy roads.

    The Best Accommodation

    I requested a Western-style room as I am not comfortable with Japanese-style rooms, and it was spacious enough with a walk-in closet. However, there were only two chairs and no sofa, which was a bit disappointing. The food and service were excellent, making this one of the accommodations I would like to stay at again.

    We visited to celebrate my husband's birthday and enjoyed crab. The Matsuba Crab was the best we've ever had, and all the other dishes were excellent, making it a truly delightful experience. The Room and bath were also wonderful, and we would love to visit again. However, the yukata provided for the restaurant was a bit short; a longer one might be warmer. Looking forward to visiting again!

    The rice cooked in the pot in the Room has gone cold.

    At the entrance, despite two staff members being present, I was not greeted or assisted as I walked in alone after sending my luggage ahead and walking to the Hotel. It wasn't until I reached the front desk and mentioned my accommodation that I received any attention. As someone from Kanto, I regretted coming all this way. During a meal in the Room, when it came time for rice cooked in a pot to be served, the fire had already gone out long before anyone came to assist. Left with nothing to do, I spent time reading while waiting. Sitting there with freshly cooked rice cooling on the side of the Room left me unsure of what to do. When someone finally arrived without an apology and served it as if nothing was wrong, it had already become lukewarm. Additionally, their strong perfume affected my dining experience; avoiding such scents should be basic etiquette. Furthermore, staff at the lounge in the lobby were unprofessional. While they seemed experienced due to their tenure there, their service lacked refinement entirely—more akin to an unpleasant local café worker than professional hospitality staff. The term "Welcome Drink" felt inappropriate; perhaps "Service Drink" would be more fitting instead.

    My Favorite Shogetsutei

    Step into Shogetsutei and immediately feel soothed by the scent of sandalwood, the sight of waterfalls, and the lush green garden. Relax with a welcome drink in front of the garden. Unwind in the large public bath with an octagonal sauna and cold bath to wash away daily fatigue, then indulge in a course meal featuring Matsuba crab and Tajima beef at Sanpou for complete satisfaction. I highly recommend Shogetsutei to friends visiting Kinosaki Onsen. Looking forward to my next visit!

    I had a relaxing time.

    Dream Accommodation I remembered my mother mentioning a long time ago that she wanted to stay here, so we decided to visit. The room was spacious and comfortable. The onsen was very relaxing. The meals were an Italian course, with each dish fresh and absolutely delicious. All the staff were pleasant and welcoming. The morning market was also great; I bought a large butternut squash there. Thank you for taking care of us!

    Exquisite Crab Cuisine and Wonderful Onsen

    I had always wanted to visit Kinosaki Onsen, and it did not disappoint. Despite being an old onsen town, the streets were lively and full of energy. The hotel's large public bath was not only spacious but also equipped with underfloor heating to ensure comfort, showcasing thoughtful attention to detail. The staff provided kind and attentive service with wonderful smiles. Above all, the cuisine at Restaurant Ricca was exceptional. The crab dishes were prepared in a style reminiscent of Japanese-French fusion, leaving me repeatedly exclaiming "Delicious!"

    Crab Season

    It’s crab season, and Nishimuraya is truly the classic choice. While the distance to the public baths is a bit far, there is a shuttle bus available, making it manageable. The bath, Room, cuisine, and the service provided by the staff were all perfect. We had an unforgettable experience. The staff member who served us was a new employee this year but was very friendly, which made the meal even more enjoyable—thank you so much! We look forward to visiting again next year. Thank you for giving us such energy and joy!

    We visit every year,...

    We visit every year, and the service, food, and hospitality are always excellent. The cold bath could be smaller; with its current size, it would be nice if it were lukewarm instead. The sauna felt too hot, possibly because there weren’t many users. It would have been great to have yukata available. Still, we’ll definitely come again next year!

    Disappointing

    The Matsuba crab was delicious. The large public bath and open-air bath were also great. The Room was clean, but the sound of running from surrounding rooms could be heard clearly. Additionally, stink bugs appeared three times. There was a flyer mentioning their frequent appearance, and they came to remove them when contacted. 10,000 yen per person per night; this is an evaluation based on the price.

    Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsutei - Crab in November

    Crab season has started, and I visited Kinosaki after a long time. The room, service, and Onsen were excellent. The detailed guidance provided made me feel at ease. The autumn leaves visible from the room were very beautiful and soothing. I especially enjoyed the private spa with its reserved Onsen; both the service and the room were relaxing. There was also a stone sauna, but alternating between it and the Onsen made me feel like there wasn’t enough time to fully enjoy everything. We chose in-room dining for our meals, but since it was served late, I wondered if dining outside might have been better. The crab was average.

    I stayed for one nig...

    I stayed for one night each during the three-day holidays in September and November. The accommodation was clean, the meals were delicious, and the staff's service was excellent, making my stay very satisfying. In particular, during dinner in November when I visited with my one-year-old daughter, the male staff's attention to her was outstanding. My daughter was very happy as well. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

    It was excellent...

    Had a wonderful time. The whole family was very satisfied. The room was spacious, clean, and offered a simple yet high-quality atmosphere. The friendly smiles of the staff, including those at the front desk, left a lasting impression. Meals at Sanpou were delicious and carefully prepared, further enhanced by the excellent service from the staff. The shuttle bus service made Onsen hopping very convenient. After checking out, we were pleasantly surprised to find a morning market right outside the entrance selling local vegetables and rice. Would love to visit again!

    Hello, We are a married couple and we absolutely love Nishimuraya. The sake paired with the dishes at "Sanpou" is exceptional! (My wife is quite the drinker, haha) The seasonal cuisine is truly wonderful.

    It was excellent.

    Thank you for your continued patronage. We had a relaxing stay thanks to your hospitality. The meals were a bit lighter in flavor compared to last time, which was slightly disappointing. However, the service was as excellent as always. We look forward to visiting again!

    Overall decent, but with some drawbacks.

    - The bath and meals were reasonably good for the cost, but I wished to enjoy the kaiseki meal at a more relaxed pace. - It was a suddenly chilly evening, so I tried to turn on the heater, but only cold air came out. When I called the staff, they informed me that only cold air is available and no warm air can be provided. I managed with an extra blanket. The front desk or room guide should inform guests at check-in that heating is not available in the room. - The foreign female staff member who guided us upon arrival was difficult to understand; I could only grasp about half of what she said. She just said what she needed to and left quickly. Isn't a guide supposed to represent the accommodation? At least speak Japanese that guests can understand properly.

    Two grandchildren + daughter + myself

    Stayed at Nishimuraya with my grandchildren from Chiba, making wonderful summer vacation memories. Although my grandchild usually doesn't like cake, they enjoyed the cake here and finished it all. They had fun in the pool, loved the Onsen, and enjoyed the delicious meals. They even said they'd love to come back for this experience again. As a fan of Onsen myself, I also had a great time. The staff were kind and attentive; we truly appreciated it. Thank you for your hospitality! We hope to visit again if we have the chance.

    It was excellent!

    Kinosaki Onsen is famous for its public baths, but the private bath at this Hotel was also excellent. For dinner, we chose the Matsutake Kaiseki course, and it was absolutely amazing! From dobin-mushi, tempura, charcoal-grilled dishes, sukiyaki hot pot, to matsutake rice, the abundance of matsutake mushrooms was truly impressive. The staff's service was polite and attentive. We will definitely visit again!

    We stayed here to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

    From the moment I entered, the atmosphere completely changed from outside, with a pleasant fragrance and perfect lighting creating an incredibly comfortable environment. When I entered the room, the view through the glass looked like a painting, which was truly moving. The Onsen had an ideal temperature, and the sauna was very clean and satisfying. The spa treatment was also very thorough and relaxing. The meals were carefully prepared, with flavors that perfectly suited my taste—bringing me 1000% satisfaction after a long time. I look forward to visiting again in winter to enjoy crab dishes. Thank you very much!

    Onsen Trip During the Off-Season for Crab

    Check-in was at 3 PM, but since I arrived early, I thought I would have to wait in the lobby. However, they let me into the room right away, which was a first for me. Also, since it was September and not crab season, I expected a regular kaiseki meal but was pleasantly surprised to find crab included—it was delicious. The massage arranged as part of enjoying the Onsen experience added to my satisfaction. Breakfast was a buffet and comparable to others in quality. The garden's maintenance clearly showed the care of dedicated staff. I noticed an outdoor morning market hosted by the Hotel just before leaving and bought some items on my way out. It’s unfortunate that there wasn’t any information about it inside the Hotel.

    Thoroughly enjoyed my first stay at Kinosaki Onsen accommodation.

    This was my first stay at Kinosaki Onsen, a place I had wanted to visit for a long time. I searched online for accommodations that would allow us to enjoy strolling through the Kinosaki Onsen town and visiting the public baths, while also offering a Japanese-Western style room suitable for four people. Based on these conditions, we decided to stay at Nishimuraya Shogetsutei. My main concern was its location being slightly away from the center of the onsen town; however, it only took about 5-6 minutes on foot to reach the center. Additionally, with the hotel's shuttle bus service, we were conveniently dropped off near our desired destinations within the town, allowing us to fully enjoy exploring it. Although one of the public baths we wanted to visit was closed during our stay and we couldn't enter it, we were able to enjoy their private bath facilities as they were relatively uncrowded. The onsen experience overall was very satisfying. The meals, hospitality/service, and facilities lived up to their excellent reviews and exceeded expectations. In particular, staff members were kind and friendly in their service delivery while leaving a positive impression with their attentiveness during meals as well.

    Early Autumn Trip to Kinosaki Onsen

    The spacious lobby and lounge offer a sense of openness and relaxation. Both the facility and the assigned Room were impeccably clean and beautiful. The Room was large, with well-arranged furniture and beds, providing a calm and comfortable atmosphere. The large public bath allowed for a relaxing experience, making it easy to lose track of time while soaking. Dinner featured the Executive Chef's special course meal, with an excellent variety of dishes, ingredients, seasonal touches, and flavors—it was absolutely delicious. The local sake paired perfectly with the meal. Breakfast also offered a wide selection of both Japanese and Western dishes that were equally enjoyable. The shop had a great variety of products available, making it easy to find satisfying souvenirs to take home. All staff members were kind, attentive, polite, and left a positive impression throughout our stay. It was truly a relaxing trip!

    A Gift Trip for Your Parents

    I visited as a birthday gift for my parents. From the moment we checked in, we enjoyed the special atmosphere. The room's rock bath was very spacious, allowing us to relax while bathing.     We stayed in a room ...

    We stayed in a room with a private open-air bath. The room was clean and simple, but having the open-air bath allowed us to enjoy Onsen from the comfort of our accommodation. Dinner was served at RICCA, offering an exceptional dining experience rarely found at Onsen accommodations. We left saying, "It would be great to come back next year." Thank you very much!

    Excellent service, delicious meals, and a private spa for complete satisfaction.

    The staff's service was polite, not overly attentive, and very comfortable. The building and facilities initially seemed "a bit old" based on the website photos, but they were actually very clean and well-maintained. The private spa was spacious with a large living area, included drinks, had a stone sauna, and was very reasonably priced. For meals, we chose the "Black Wagyu Beef & Sushi" course. While we expected only grilled meat and sushi, it turned out to be a full course including appetizers, sashimi, and dessert—all of which were delicious. However, the portions were quite large; without teenagers in our group to help finish it all, it might have been too much food. It would be helpful if details about the meal courses were listed on the reservation site or ryokan's website. The sushi served on a boat platter was especially impressive!

    It was a wonderful Hotel!

    Nishimuraya Shogetsutei was an amazing Hotel. The Room and bath were excellent, but the highlight was the dinner, which featured luxurious ingredients and intricate dishes that satisfied both our stomachs and hearts! We regret not enjoying the Onsen to refresh ourselves before dinner due to our schedule… (laughs). Although the Hotel is located slightly away from the central area for Sotoyu (public bath) hopping, their regular Shuttle Service made it easy to enjoy. Walking through town in a yukata and visiting various unique Sotoyu was a fun experience, but I believe the Onsen at the Hotel itself was the best. We also had a cake set at the lounge, and it was exquisite! Especially, the Tamba black bean chocolate terrine was so delicious that I wanted to take some home! (It was available at their souvenir shop, but since we were traveling during summer, I reluctantly gave up on buying it…) The staff members who assisted us during dinner service, at reception, as shuttle drivers, or serving cakes late in the lounge were all efficient yet courteous. Thank you very much! If given another opportunity, we would love to visit again.
