    This is a wonderful Ryokan.

    We stayed here for a pre-baby trip. The property was very clean, and the guidance from check-in to our Room was consistently courteous. We were able to spend our time comfortably from start to finish. Since I was pregnant, I had some dietary restrictions and ingredients I couldn’t eat, so we made several requests. They kindly accommodated everything thoroughly, which we truly appreciated. Every dish was delicious, and we were very satisfied. The Onsen was also wonderful, and we were able to relax and unwind at a leisurely pace. We are really glad we chose this place for our pre-baby trip. It’s unfortunate that due to the age restriction we won’t be able to visit for a while after the baby is born, but we plan to recommend it to our parents and friends. We look forward to the day when we can visit again as a family.

    It was very good!

    This was my first stay here. It was a very relaxing Accommodation. The property was quiet, and all the staff were pleasant and welcoming. The Onsen was also wonderful—there was an open-air gold-colored bath, a slightly cooler gold-colored bath, and even a jacuzzi, so I could really take my time and enjoy it. The changing area felt safe as well, with lockers that could be locked. I also appreciated the small beer and tea after the bath. In the Room, I ended up loving the sofa in the sitting area by the window. The seat was wide enough to lounge on while enjoying the view or watching TV. It also helped that the tatami room had a table and chairs rather than floor chairs. I was happy with the amenities at the sink too. Having thicker paper towels provided separately from tissues was a great touch! And of course, the food was excellent. Everything was carefully prepared, seasoned just right, and delicious from start to finish without ever feeling repetitive. The corn rice was cooked in a clay pot! It was so good—I’m sorry I couldn’t finish it all. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that adjusting the air conditioner in the Room was difficult because it felt like only “weak” or “strong.” Other than that, I was very satisfied. This is a lovely Ryokan for adults. It ended up being a spontaneous one-night trip, but I had a truly restful stay. Thank you very much.

    My Favorite: Nakanobo Zuien

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. Thanks to the warm and attentive service from all the staff, I had a comfortable stay throughout. In particular, the smile and thoughtfulness of the person at the large public bath reception were wonderful and left a lasting impression. It was a lovely Accommodation where I would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

    The food was excellent.

    I was already full, but the food was so delicious I would have regretted not finishing it all! The dishes were beautifully presented in thoughtfully chosen tableware, and it was a pleasure to look at as well. I also appreciated the complimentary drinks service in the lobby. The shop’s original souvenirs were a hit, too. Whenever I visit Arima, I always stay here.

    Thank you very much.

    It was my first stay here in a while. I was satisfied with the Room and amenities, the quality of the hot water, and the ingredients, cooking methods, and tableware used for the meals. However, regarding the staff who guided us to our Room and served us during meals, while I believe they are making an effort, I felt their remarks, attitude, and manner could be improved. Without going into specifics, I hope training can be strengthened a bit more so that guests are left with a better impression.

    It was the best stay—an unforgettable memory for a lifetime!

    The staff’s kind service and hospitality were outstanding in every way—along with the luxurious meals, the large public bath, and everything else! Since it was a birthday celebration, we were also truly touched by the commemorative photos and the warm surprise during our meal. One thing I would like to mention: on the outside of the large window in our Room (by the L-shaped sofa), there was some noticeable dirt. It may have already been cleaned, but I think you’ll spot it right away if you check. It didn’t bother us, but I wanted to let you know just in case. Once again, it was an absolutely wonderful stay and we had an amazing time. Thank you very much!

    The Pinnacle of a Historic Ryokan

    This was my third stay, and once again it was an exceptional experience—exactly as expected. As before, I stayed in a room with a private open-air bath with Kin-sen (golden hot spring water), and it truly is a wonderful Ryokan in every respect. Their hospitality is thorough down to the smallest details, ensuring guests can relax in complete comfort. No matter when you visit, the timeless beauty of a traditional Japanese Ryokan and their flawless service provide real peace of mind. The lounge and public baths, which are open for long hours, are always kept in perfect condition. The complimentary drinks in the room and the 12:00 checkout are also much appreciated. Thoughtful touches from a guest’s perspective can be felt everywhere—such as being able to choose your pillow and breakfast on site, and selecting meal start times in 30-minute increments. Despite being very close to the station with excellent access, they still confirm whether you would like Shuttle Service. During the stay, staff also check if you need refills for glasses or beverages in your room—subtle but high-quality service that reaches every corner. These accumulated details are what make this feel like a truly luxury Ryokan. Some Accommodations that become popular on social media or video don’t always live up to expectations once you actually stay—but Hyoe Koyokaku Bessho Zui-en is the opposite. No matter how many times I visit, it never disappoints, and the quality of service never wavers. A distinguished Ryokan where you can spend quiet, refined time—and it’s easy to see why repeat guests return even from far away. Overall: An ideal example of an established Ryokan. Recommended for those seeking genuine hospitality rather than flashy appeal.

    Since it was a Room-assigned Plan, it couldn’t be helped.

    I look forward to visiting every year, so I made a Reservation again this time. For the one-night stay with breakfast Plan, the only option was an “Room assigned by the Accommodation,” so I had no choice but to book it. However, the Room I was shown was on the lowest floor and much smaller than any Room I have stayed in before. In particular, the indoor bath was as small as a typical studio apartment bathroom, so I gave up on washing my hair there. I really like this Accommodation, but I am unsure what to do next time.

    There were non-staying guests in the dining area, and the excessive chatter was noisy and unpleasant. The meals also did not match the quality expected for the Accommodation Fee.

    It’s always quiet here, which makes it very relaxing. It had been a year since our last visit, and we felt the matcha and sweets used to taste better. We were also disappointed that the small carbonated rice crackers we used to buy as souvenirs are no longer available. We visit every year for our wedding anniversary. We look forward to coming again next year.

    It turned into a truly memorable birthday.

    For the past few years, I’ve made it a tradition to take a solo trip for my birthday. I’ve visited Arima Onsen many times—on day trips, on bus tours, or stopping by after hiking. I also came once on my birthday a few years ago (at a different Accommodation). While looking for an Accommodation with Rooms that have an open-air bath, I found this place and did quite a bit of research. This time I was traveling alone, so I couldn’t stay in a Room with an open-air bath, but everything was perfect. I was warmly welcomed at the entrance, and checked in while enjoying matcha and sweets. There is a lounge, and all the drinks in the Room refrigerator (including alcohol) were complimentary—I enjoyed plenty. I could also choose my pillow, so I picked a memory-foam one. I usually can’t sleep well when traveling, but this time I slept better than usual. For dinner, I had chosen in-room dining and expected my legs might start to hurt from sitting—but to my surprise they prepared it at a table instead! In a comfortable position, I enjoyed a celebration-worthy meal with red wine. Thank you for the sekihan (red bean rice). It had been years since I last had it—it was delicious. For breakfast there was a choice of Japanese or Western style; of course I chose Japanese. The rice was so good that I had two bowls. The large public bath alternates between men’s and women’s use depending on the time of day, and both were spacious and relaxing. At times I even had it to myself, which was wonderful. The free private open-air bath that doesn’t require Reservation was also close to my Room, so it was easy to go whenever I wanted—having both Kinsen and Ginsen is fantastic. They also took celebratory photos for me in the garden—I couldn’t have been happier. Next time, I'd like to come with my family and stay in a Room with an open-air bath. Oh—and the Room felt more spacious than expected; the L-shaped sofa was very comfortable and made it easy to relax.

    Three friends and I ...

    Three friends and I stayed here. The meals were very delicious. Even though each dish was small, there was a wide variety, which we really enjoyed. The property was quiet, and we had a wonderful time chatting in the Onsen, Room, and lounge.

    An Elderly Couple’s Soliloquy

    Not only Chubou Zuien, but the overall Onsen water quality in Arima has returned, which makes me very happy. After the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the volume of hot spring water decreased and everyone fell silent... However, is there anything that can be done about the fact that at any Hotel or Ryokan, the water quality is better the next day than on the day of arrival (private open-air bath)? - I gave a lower score for meals. The food is tasty, but I feel the tableware and ingredients have declined. Please keep it up. I also feel it might be fine to raise prices a little. I understand many places are working hard to keep prices low, but if the content is good, I don’t think it would be a problem. What do you think?

    Wonderful Hotel

    The hospitality, Onsen, and cuisine were all wonderful. I was able to fully rest both body and mind. Thank you very much for taking care of us. The cherry blossoms along the Arima River were also beautiful.

    I would like to stay here again.

    This was my first stay here, and although I’ve stayed at several Hotels in the same class, this was by far the best. I didn’t realize it was all-inclusive, and this was the first Hotel where I could freely enjoy the drinks in my Room as well. The staff provided outstanding hospitality, and both the Room and Onsen were kept impeccably clean, so I was able to relax and unwind. Every meal was carefully prepared and delicious—I was completely satisfied. I’d love to stay again in a different season.

    A classic Accommodation with excellent service

    Everyone at the Accommodation was very kind and made our stay truly pleasant. (Their genuine personalities came through, and we felt truly professional hospitality—not just superficial friendliness.) Both the large public bath and the open-air bath in our Room were wonderful. There were plenty of towels, two yukata each, a samue, and pajamas, so we could always wear clean, dry items comfortably. (The shower area felt a bit like a typical unit-bath design.) The Room was spacious enough, and the toilet was in a separate room—very large and spotless. One downside was that some of the furniture felt a bit old, with scratches here and there and some peeling paint.

    I booked this as a birthday gift for my mother, who loves Arima Onsen. My brother and mother stayed for two nights, and both said, “It was truly a wonderful Accommodation. Of course the Onsen was great, and the meals were delicious! We were completely satisfied!!” They were so happy, and that made me happy too. My mother is over 80, but she loved the Accommodation so much that she enjoyed the Onsen four times, and even had plenty of seconds at both dinner (teppanyaki) and breakfast (smile). She says, “I want to go to Zuien again!” so I’d like to give it as a gift again this year—or next year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your warm hospitality. Thank you very much!

    Anniversary Stay

    We stayed here for the first time on our 41st wedding anniversary, and we definitely want to return together someday. From the parking attendants onward, all of the staff were wonderfully pleasant and welcoming. We were very satisfied with everything—the Room, the Onsen, and the meals. Both dinner and breakfast were served in semi-private dining spaces. We also received a special anniversary surprise, and everything was delicious. In particular, we loved being able to use the lounge freely, which made our stay especially relaxing. Thank you very much to all of the staff.

    The Best Birthday Gift for Mom

    We chose this Hotel because it has a high Review rating. The matcha and steamed bun served at check-in were delicious. The fresh flower arrangements in the Room and hallways were wonderful. My skin felt silky smooth after the Onsen, and I worked up a sweat in the sauna—an invigorating detox from the inside out. There were drinks available at all times by the Onsen entrance; I especially liked the muscat vinegar drink and the small canned beer. The meals were excellent, and since it was my mother’s birthday, we truly appreciated the celebratory red rice served at dinner, a toast drink, and a commemorative photo. The morning rolled omelet and generous fresh salad that felt very healthy were also delicious. I also enjoyed the tea and coffee service in the relaxing lounge. This was a Hotel with outstanding hospitality, and I would love to stay again soon.

    Traditional Ryokan hospitality and cuisine unique to a long-established inn

    We stayed here as a couple. Among Arima Onsen, this is a long-established ryokan, and we felt it blends tradition with thoughtful updates suited to the times. We thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen, including not only the large public bath but also the private baths, which could be used flexibly depending on availability. For dinner, we requested a smaller-portion yet high-quality course; each dish was carefully crafted, and the service from our attendant was excellent. They also kindly provided Shuttle Service on our departure day, offering attentive support in every detail. Perhaps due to the season, there were many young visitors in Arima Onsen town, and we could really sense how times are changing.

    Enjoy Arima Onsen

    The spacious, calming lobby overlooks a well-kept courtyard, which was soothing upon arrival. The Room we were shown was beautiful, and the view from the window was great—the nighttime scenery of the Onsen town was especially lovely. Both the large public bath and the open-air bath were spacious, and with both Kinsen and Ginsen available, we fully enjoyed Arima’s waters. Dinner was exceptionally delicious. Each course paired perfectly with sake. However, the dishes were served a little too quickly, and I wished we could have taken more time to enjoy both the food and drinks at a slower pace. Using Zui-en as our base made it easy to explore the Onsen town on foot, and it was great that there were so many shops. All of the staff were kind and courteous, and their reassuring service was much appreciated. We were able to use our time efficiently and enjoy a relaxing trip.

    The bath was flawless! But…

    We stayed on the “Western-style Room with a Kinsen open-air bath” Plan with a small but delicious kaiseki dinner. We used the large public bath only once, but being able to fully enjoy high-quality Kinsen in the in-room bath was more than satisfying. The location was excellent, and we enjoyed breakfast well enough, but unfortunately the key dinner was disappointing… Although it was served in a private dining room and we assume good ingredients were used, it felt that the presentation, overall finish, and tableware lacked the refinement expected of a high-end Ryokan. On this trip, we stayed at Exiv Arima Rikyu on the first night and here on the second; for food, the former was far superior, while for baths—of course—the latter won out.

    I visited Arima Onsen for the first time on a mother–daughter trip with my daughter who lives far away. Since it was a special occasion, we wanted to relax at a wonderful Accommodation, and choosing Zui-en—highly regarded—was absolutely the right decision. A week in advance, we received a courteous email to Check Reservation, and we were also able to communicate smoothly about allergies. After arriving that day, a staff member welcomed us right away. In the elegant lobby, we checked in at a relaxed pace while enjoying matcha and traditional sweets and looking out over the garden. The Room was simple yet refined and impeccably clean, and the private open-air bath was outstanding. Both dinner and breakfast were truly impressive—beautiful to look at and delicious. Above all, the staff’s warm hospitality felt personal rather than scripted, which made our stay even more satisfying. Chatting with the attendant at the public bath also became a wonderful memory. If I have another chance to visit Arima, this is an Accommodation I would love to bring my husband and son to as well. Thank you very much.

    It was wonderful.

    We stayed here to celebrate a 60th birthday, and they gave us so many thoughtful celebrations that we were truly moved and deeply grateful. The meals were very filling and satisfying; the white rice at breakfast was especially delicious. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath with Ginsen Onsen, and the Onsen water was wonderful. In our Room, the indoor bath and the open-air bath were separated, so having to go through the Room to reach the open-air bath was a bit inconvenient. We also used the large public bath, and among them we especially loved the open-air Kinsen Onsen. It was also great that they kept our luggage at the entrance before check-in, so we could start sightseeing right away. All of the Ryokan staff were kind, and we had a very comfortable stay. Thank you very much.

    The open-air bath in your Room...

    This was my first time staying here on the way back from Kobe. I usually book a Room with an open-air bath. This time I checked the official website, but I couldn’t really tell what the in-room open-air bath was like, so I chose an available Room based on the date and my budget. As it turned out, I didn’t use the in-room open-air bath at all. It was a very small tub, like a pot-style bath, and it was surrounded by wooden fencing so there was no view outside. The washing area also felt cold and uninviting, so I didn’t feel like using it. I think it would have been better if there had at least been bathroom heating in the washing area. It might be fine for international guests, though. There is a free open-air bath on the 4th floor, which I used once. This one felt like a proper open-air bath and was very nice. If I had known that such an open-air bath could be used for free, I wouldn’t have needed to choose a Room with a small open-air bath. Meals were served in a private dining room, and I was able to enjoy them slowly—they were delicious. The staff were all cheerful and kind, which made my stay very pleasant. A 12:00 check-out is much appreciated. Thank you very much for your hospitality this time as well.
