    I had high expectations because I’d heard great things about the breakfast, and it was even better than expected—delicious. All the staff were kind, and I’d like to stay here again when I visit Kumamoto.

    Comfortable bathroom amenities

    I stay here almost every month for regular commitments. This time I noticed the amenities were from an Italian organic brand, Millennium. They smelled wonderful and felt great to use. I’m completely hooked on the reliable, long-established comfort of this place.

    Great.

    I stayed in a Junior Suite. Everything was fine overall. The only issue was that I wanted to do laundry on the fourth day of my trip, but there were no facilities in the Hotel, and the nearest coin laundry felt very far away. The Hotel map was not very accurate, so I had to ask for directions several times. This needs improvement.

    Although a high-floor Room was planned, the assigned Room was on the 3rd floor.

    The original Reservation was for a “Queen Double (21.6 m²) [City Side/High Floor] (Double),” but the Room was on the 3rd floor rather than a high floor, and the view outside was only piping, which was very disappointing in that respect. The Room itself seemed to be an accessible Room, and it was spacious and comfortable.

    The food is delicious.

    This was my first trip to Kumamoto, and I stayed for two nights. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. I also loved being able to see Kumamoto Castle from the living room. I was able to relax for two days, and it became a wonderful trip. Thank you very much.

    I chose this Hotel b...

    I chose this Hotel because it is right in front of Kumamoto Castle, and you can see the castle tower from the Room window. It also seemed to be a long-established Hotel in Kumamoto. The interior and the Room had a classic atmosphere, and that old-fashioned feel—both good and slightly not so good—actually felt refreshing. I recommend it for anyone who wants to enjoy something you won’t find in modern Hotels with brand-new Facilities. What impressed me at the breakfast buffet was that tea is served in a pot, brewed properly with tea leaves. Some guests might find it troublesome or feel dissatisfied if they can’t brew it well, but as a tea lover, this was a welcome highlight for me. When I said “slightly not so good,” I meant that older buildings inevitably have fewer power outlets. Also, due to their placement, I could only put the iron’s charger far away from the ironing board, which was inconvenient—I wish I had asked to borrow an extension cord. I also noticed some furniture and doors with shabby paint peeling off and left as-is, which was disappointing.

    The restaurant has been renovated.

    I stay here almost regularly from a neighboring prefecture. I’m drawn to the reliable comfort you’d expect from a long-established Hotel, but the previous drawbacks were the poor breakfast and the fact that the Hotel’s iconic French restaurant has been closed. However, the all-day dining on the first floor has undergone a wonderful transformation, and I’ve come to love it all at once. I’m in the minority as someone who prefers a Western-style breakfast and is also a tea drinker, but this is the only Hotel where tea is served in a pot, with several types of leaf tea to choose from. I think that’s truly impressive.

    It was a traditional...

    It was a traditional, very calm Hotel. Conveniently located near the downtown area, department stores, streetcars, and bus stops. I would definitely like to stay here again.

    A long-established retro Hotel

    The Room was clean, and both the front desk and housekeeping staff were helpful. However, the property feels too old overall. - There do not appear to be security cameras in the elevator or hallways. - The breakfast buffet had limited variety and was not very good. The staff also seemed unfriendly.

    Wonderful

    I stayed here on the 10th anniversary of the earthquake. The guidance to the parking lot and the service made it feel like a top-class Hotel. Stay strong, Kumamoto!

    I used standard charging with the EV rental car.

    This Hotel was excellent in every way except that the bath was average, and we had a Room with a view of Kumamoto Castle. Since we were using an EV rental car, we chose an Accommodation where we could charge it. We started charging in the designated space in the evening and left in the morning at 100%, which was ideal. We were able to go to Kami-Amakusa and return without needing to recharge along the way. As EVs become more common, I hope you will add more standard charging ports.

    A historic, long-established Hotel

    My first trip to Kumamoto with my wife! Choosing a Hotel was difficult, and I was torn between about two places, but we decided on this Hotel. Since it’s a long-established Hotel, I expected it to feel outdated, but the lobby was very nice and the service was good, so it didn’t leave as bad an impression as I had imagined. However, the Room does show its age a bit, though it was well cleaned and that was good. If I had to mention one thing, the bathroom felt old—there was black mold in the grooves next to the bathtub and also in the floor grooves. I guess that can’t be helped with an older building. We stayed for two nights, but breakfast was exactly the same both days. I would have liked a little more variety. Having the same dishes gets tiring. Overall, though it’s an old-established Hotel, I think it was good.

    A highly hospitable accommodation where you can stay with peace of mind

    This Hotel is located in downtown Kumamoto and is also close to the tram line. Right in front of it, you can enjoy the view of Kumamoto Castle beautifully illuminated across the river. From the outside, I thought it might be an older Hotel, but once inside the lobby it had a classic feel. Above all, the Room—including the interior and bathroom—was new, stylish, spacious, and didn’t feel dated at all, so I was able to stay very comfortably. The amenities were plentiful, and I was happy to find a coffee server as well. The breakfast buffet didn’t have a huge selection, but each item was delicious with plenty of local specialties. It was fun choosing from many types of miso. I was also surprised by how large the bread portions were; they were tasty, and with so many kinds of jam available I ended up going back for seconds. The hospitality was excellent, and I had a truly wonderful time in Kumamoto.

    An amenity-rich Plan. A Room with a bathroom where you can fully enjoy an extraordinary getaway.

    Junior Suite Room on the No Meals Included short-stay Plan. The Room is positioned for a great view of Kumamoto Castle, and as shown in the photos, you can also see the castle keep from the bathroom window (the window may fog up after running a hot bath). The bathroom is spacious with tiled finishes, an oversized bathtub, and a TV monitor. Combined with Kumamoto’s excellent water quality, it makes for an exceptional, out-of-the-ordinary bath time experience. Although this is a No Meals Included stay, the in-room complimentary snacks & drinks Plan offered a generous selection of local sweets and beverages—worthy of top marks for dining as well. Overall, it was a luxurious and memorable stay. For reference: there is also a large sofa, but the layout/flow between the toilet, bed area, windowside area, bathroom, and closet felt somewhat awkward; there are steps around the in-room wet areas; and bathroom ventilation could be improved—so I rated the Facility 3 stars. This time the on-site parking was full and we were directed to a nearby mechanical parking lot. It may get crowded depending on the day/time, but exiting after check-out was smoother than expected.

    I felt it was a high-quality, classic Hotel.

    I was captivated by the spacious, dignified lobby. With impressive paintings and plenty of sofas, it has a sense of comfort and elegance that newer Hotels often lack, and it became one of my favorites. The Room does feel a bit old, but given its history that was expected, and it was very clean, so I had a comfortable stay. One small thing: I would have appreciated a bath towel for lathering while washing in the bath. The breakfast buffet had just the right variety, and everything tasted great. It was fun to choose the miso for the miso soup myself, and there were too many tempting items—Hotel curry, Chinese-style rice porridge, Kumamoto karashi renkon (mustard lotus root), and more—that I wished I could have tried them all if my stomach allowed. This is a Hotel I definitely want to stay at again on my next trip to Kumamoto. I hope you will continue for many years to come. Thank you very much.

    A long-established Hotel, for better or worse.

    It was my first stay in a while. This is a quiet Hotel with a calm atmosphere. Although it does feel dated, it was properly cleaned and I had a comfortable stay. However, perhaps because the air conditioner is an older type, it still felt hot even after lowering the temperature, so I turned it off. It was hard to sleep. One thing that stood out was that the front desk staff did not smile, which can come across as a bit cold. The restaurant staff were courteous, but I felt the food used to be better in the past.

    A long-established Hotel near Kumamoto Castle

    It was a Room with a view of Kumamoto Castle. I would have been completely satisfied if the windows had been cleaner, but... The breakfast buffet seemed to focus on quality over variety, and considering the accommodation cost, it felt exceptionally high-level. As expected of a long-established Hotel, the subtle attentiveness and professionalism of the experienced staff were outstanding—something even newer luxury Hotels could learn from.

    We could see Kumamoto Castle.

    I was interested to stay here because it’s a Hotel where the Emperor once stayed, so I made a Reservation. The building is old, so you can feel its age, but it also has a retro charm. The room was spacious and very clean, and the hair dryer was a ReFa. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of dishes and was delicious. Above all, the staff’s service was outstanding. Kumamoto Yatai Village is also nearby, so I’m definitely coming back—Done.

    The guest rooms and the renovated restaurant are both comfortable. The staff are kind and helpful.

    The queen-bed room we stayed in was fully accessible. The bathroom and toilet even had an emergency call button. Although it seems a few years have passed since the renovation (?), everything was well maintained, clean, and comfortable. The in-room kitchenette was stocked with a Nespresso coffee machine, local tea leaves, black tea bags, and herbal teas, which made for a relaxing, elegant time. The Japanese restaurant where we enjoyed a set lunch after checkout also deserves high praise. 　This is a wonderful Hotel that preserves the charm of old Kumamoto while continuing to evolve with modern touches. Many attractions, including Kumamoto Castle, are within walking distance, and it offered a unique appeal you won’t find around the redeveloped area near Kumamoto Station. The staff were kind and made our stay truly heartwarming.

    My favorite Hotel in Kumamoto.

    I love vintage Hotels, so I always stay here whenever I visit Kumamoto as it gives me peace of mind. I also have Chinese cuisine for lunch every time, and it's incredibly delicious, so I highly recommend it. The breakfast was also very tasty.

    A historic Hotel frequented by members of the royal family

    This is my second stay, and the location is excellent with great walking access to Kumamoto Castle. In front of the front desk, there are many photos displayed showcasing the history of the Hotel and visits by members of the royal family, which made me feel once again that this is a prestigious Hotel in Kumamoto. The Chinese restaurant in the Hotel offers great value for money, and the front desk staff provided excellent service. Next time, I would like to stay in an upgraded Room.

    The artificial flowers in the Room...

    It is an old Hotel, but overall I was satisfied. The artificial flowers in the Room lacked taste, which was my only complaint. The breakfast was delicious.

    Special Plan

    This time, I stayed under the special "Reasonable Plan." It was a very affordable plan, so I didn't have high expectations. However, I was deeply impressed by the courteous service. Moreover, I was surprised to be provided with a spacious room offering a view of Kumamoto Castle. Additionally, when I requested milk tea as my welcome drink, it came with a pot and even slightly warmed milk. This thoughtful gesture exceeded my expectations and moved me. Initially feeling apologetic for choosing the no-breakfast plan, I decided to add breakfast later. Although it was a set meal, it was delicious and satisfying. The elevator had red and white roses arranged inside, which created a calming atmosphere. Thank you very much for your exceptional hospitality during this stay!

    You can see Kumamoto Castle from the Room.

    I stayed at Kumamoto Hotel Castle to enjoy a room with a view of Kumamoto Castle, and my room was 815. The image of the room at the time of reservation showed a slightly vibrant red interior, but in reality, it was a calm green-toned room, which I preferred. For dinner, I did not make a reservation and used the restaurant on the first floor on the day. Many of the staff were young and fresh. The view of Kumamoto Castle from the room was excellent, and at night, the illuminated castle was very beautiful.

    The Room with a Castle View was excellent.

    I visited for my first trip to Kumamoto. The Room offered a stunning view of the castle, and the changing expressions of the main keep during evening, night, and morning left a lasting impression. While the Room and Facility showed some signs of age, they were clean and well-maintained. The staff's courteous service was also very pleasant. However, one disappointment was breakfast. Due to what seemed to be renovations at the usual breakfast venue, we were directed to another location. When we arrived slightly after 7 AM, it was already full with a line of about 10 people waiting—many from international tour groups. We waited standing for about 20 minutes; unfortunately, some guests became frustrated and left before being seated. It would have been helpful if we had been informed at check-in so that we could consider other options... This aspect felt disappointing.
