    As rumored

    I made a reservation after seeing the accommodation on BS broadcasting and thought it was a great place. I was surprised to be able to choose alcohol for the welcome drink. The garden walking paths were nice, and I appreciated the drink service at the rest areas. The staff were kind, and the attendants at the dining area were well-trained. I am considering recommending this accommodation to acquaintances for their stay. This is an accommodation I would like to visit again.

    What a charming accommodation!

    We stayed at this accommodation as it was introduced by various people on YouTube and other platforms. Initially, the meals, room, facilities, and service made it seem like a good accommodation. We arrived by car and were promptly guided when we got lost, with our luggage smoothly carried to the room. At first glance, the room appeared nice with large windows. The first issue we noticed was that one of the lights in the men's bath was out, and its cover was covered in green mold. Next, we found that the thermometer in our room's bath was broken and rusted. During bedtime, I started coughing and discovered black mold widely spread in the corners of the window (even after cleaning). The water area in our private dining space was broken with water flooding all over underneath. The futon bedding included pillows that were uncomfortable and unlike anything we've seen before. Later on, I checked reviews which mentioned delays in updating internal facilities—something I now understand. While new facilities are being built outside, leaving existing ones broken is problematic. As for meals, while they seemed to use reasonably good ingredients overall, some aspects of cooking felt questionable but still decent overall. The customer service felt somewhat manual-based or scripted. There is a coffee service available in the reading room where staff prepare coffee; however, on that day it only operated from 3:00 PM for 30 minutes. A self-service coffee machine might be more convenient instead. The scenery along with baths and gardens were pleasant; however improving facility maintenance or revising service methods could make this accommodation much better overall!

    The Ultimate Hospitality

    Thank you very much for your hospitality. We visited after a long time to celebrate my elderly mother and my brother's retirement. The attentive service, delicious meals, and the Onsen created wonderful memories for us. We were delighted to see fireflies during our stay. Additionally, when I forgot my phone charging cord in the Room upon departure and inquired about it, I received prompt assistance, which I greatly appreciated. It was truly an exceptional experience of hospitality. Thank you so much again. I look forward to visiting again in the future!

    Thank you for your hospitality. I love traveling and stay at accommodations with similar review ratings and prices almost every month. This time, considering the rainy season and the possibility of bad weather, I chose a slightly more affordable room. [What I liked] 1. Being able to see fireflies. 2. Staff always stopped to greet me with a smile whenever we crossed paths. 3. While welcome drinks are common, the drink and towel provided at checkout were a nice touch. 4. Other facilities and services were neither outstanding nor disappointing compared to accommodations in a similar price range. [Areas for improvement] 1. The sliding door at the entrance of the large public bath is extremely heavy—almost as if it's broken—and the indoor bath was lukewarm. 2. When using the outdoor onsen in the large public bath around 6 AM, there were an unusual number of insects floating due to seasonal factors, which made it unappealing to enter. If it’s supposed to be free-flowing onsen water, shouldn’t these insects flow out? It seemed they weren’t being carried away properly by flowing water as expected from natural hot springs; hence my onsen rating is 3. 3. The air conditioning in the reading space seemed operational but didn’t cool enough for comfort—does staff check this occasionally?     The long-awaited Senshuan was an accommodation that exceeded expectations in every detail—hospitality, service, cuisine, and baths. It was very quiet, allowing for a relaxing and rejuvenating time. This accommodation truly inspired me to face tomorrow with renewed energy. For the first time in a while, both my body and mind felt completely fulfilled.

    The comforter is excellent!

    Excited for my first stay in six years, I checked in. The view of Mount Tanigawa covered in snow is breathtaking. This time, the second-floor Japanese-style room was quite spacious, and the large corner window offered a dazzling view of fresh greenery, creating a bright and refreshing atmosphere. The reclining stone bath in the large public bath was incredibly relaxing, making it hard to leave. The meals for both breakfast and dinner were just the right amount for me. What left the biggest impression this time was the bedding. Previously, I hadn't paid much attention to it, but now you can choose your preferred firmness for mattresses and pillows beforehand. Most notably, the down comforter was exceptional! According to staff members, they have been using this same type since their establishment—it’s truly beautiful with embroidery reminiscent of Yuzen kimonos. I've never experienced anything so exquisite before and had an excellent night's sleep because of it. However, one thing caught my attention: some tables and chairs placed in the garden had rows of winged ants on them when I looked closely while trying to sit down leisurely—this applied to all chairs there. While it might be inevitable given nature's setting around us here; perhaps implementing some effective measures could enhance enjoyment further within such lovely surroundings!

    Stayed for one night on Sunday. The facility was clean and quiet, to the point where it was hard to tell if there were other guests. The Room's private open-air bath was surprisingly spacious, with a temperature of about 40°C, which felt slightly lukewarm for me but probably standard. The large public bath had nothing particularly noteworthy. I would like to revisit during the snowy season. For a Multiple Night Stay, there is an ancient trail from Fuji Sengen Shrine to Mount Tanigawa (beware of mountain leeches).

    As always, it was an excellent accommodation with exceptional service. The food was delicious, and it paired perfectly with the drinks. The room was clean, tidy, and offered a great view, with all necessary amenities thoughtfully provided. However, I did wish there was a magnifying mirror. The floor of the large public bath, especially near the entrance to the open-air bath, felt slightly uncomfortable on my feet and made walking a bit difficult.

    I stayed for one night this time. Although I initially booked a plan with breakfast and dinner, I greatly appreciate your willingness to change it to a plan without breakfast due to my work schedule.     It was a calm and happy day.

    We arrived early for check-in and enjoyed a stroll through the beautiful garden, relaxing with freshly brewed coffee and canned beer. The nearby clear stream was incredibly soothing. The Room was cozy and just the right size, with open glass doors creating a spacious and charming atmosphere. The private open-air bath in the Room was clean and absolutely amazing. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and delightful to look at. All the staff were friendly, smiling, and provided excellent service. It’s been a while since I’ve been this satisfied with everything. I’d love to visit again!

    Another satisfying stay.

    This was my third stay. While I usually prefer to try different accommodations, this one is truly exceptional. The room is thoughtfully designed with attention to detail, and the furnishings and decor are delightful. The outdoor walking paths, deck chairs, reading room, and meditation spaces are all very comfortable. Meals are creative yet incorporate local ingredients and are absolutely delicious. The service strikes a perfect balance between friendliness and attentiveness, leaving no room for dissatisfaction—everything has been consistently excellent during each visit. If I had to mention one thing, it would be that the onsen warms the body so well that having air conditioning available during this season would have been nice (the air conditioner only operated as a heater since it was still May). The room I stayed in felt slightly warmer compared to other areas outside the building.

    Stayed for a multiple night stay to celebrate a family member's 88th birthday and 60th birthday. I had wanted to stay here for a long time, and it was an excellent accommodation that met my expectations. This time was during the snowy season, so I would like to visit again during the season when greenery or autumn leaves are beautiful. One minor point about the meals is that the second night's dinner did not feel significantly different from the previous night.

    Surrounded by the lush nature of Tanigawa-dake during the fresh green season, we enjoyed multiple relaxing soaks in the onsen, including a comfortable open-air bath. The staff's warm hospitality and thoughtful attention to detail were evident everywhere, from the seasonal decorations to the serene view of greenery from the dining area. Both our hearts and bodies felt refreshed during our stay. Unfortunately, due to cloudy skies and rain, we couldn't visit Tanigawa-dake as planned—weather is beyond our control after all.     A reward accommodation!

    I received a stay as a gift from my daughter to celebrate my 60th birthday. After much deliberation on which accommodation to choose, I decided to return to Senjuan after 23 years. The attentive service remained unchanged, and I could feel the thoughtful care of all the staff. The person in charge of our meals was cheerful, approachable, and made us feel at ease. Previously, I felt that the dishes were overly elaborate and not quite to my taste. However, this time, each dish allowed me to savor the natural flavors of the ingredients, and I enjoyed every bite until the end. Even my daughter with a small appetite finished her meal completely. The menu seemed to have evolved into an adult-oriented selection featuring local ingredients and seasonal items in a delightful way. Strolling through the spacious garden and relaxing with tea under dappled sunlight was truly a treat for both body and mind. The view from our room was breathtaking—the clear flow of the river, lush greenery of trees, and cherry blossom petals dancing in the wind were so beautiful that I found myself gazing out by the window for hours feeling soothed. Considering everything—the well-maintained facilities, comprehensive services offered, delicious meals—I felt that the accommodation fee was very reasonable overall. In essence, accommodations are about people too—and in this regard as well—it was exceptional. It’s a popular place making reservations difficult but I would love to visit again!

    It was excellent.

    The time spent after arriving at the Hotel was entirely comfortable. The hospitality, in particular, was excellent. However, the lighting in the Room was slightly dim, possibly for relaxation purposes, which made it a bit challenging to use a computer or read books; adjustable lighting would be helpful. I look forward to visiting again.

    Meals are satisfying!

    I was a bit worried due to some low ratings regarding the meals, but it seems they have improved. The steak was substantial, and both dinner and breakfast were satisfying. When I visited the reading room, the smoldering firewood caused smoke that made it uncomfortable to stay there. It could even lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, so stricter management is necessary. It was also disappointing that my hair and clothes ended up smelling like smoke. The space with tomatoes and drinks felt somewhat incomplete as an area. Additionally, including the reading room, many facilities seemed designed for good weather, making them less enjoyable on rainy days. Having two sinks and two toilets in the Room was convenient; however, since we stayed as a group of three people, having a sofa in the Room would have allowed all of us to relax together more comfortably.

    An accommodation you'll want to visit again.

    This accommodation, highly rated in reviews and featured on TV, initially made me wonder if its modern architecture would feel out of place for a traditional Japanese ryokan. However, the museum-like corridors, large windows, and breathtaking mountain views quickly captivated me. It is truly a wonderful accommodation. Dinner was delightful with seasonal ingredients like bamboo shoots and sawara fish. The staff's warm smiles and heartfelt hospitality were different from the polished service of luxury hotels but felt genuinely comforting. My partner uses a wheelchair, and their thoughtful assistance ensured we had a comfortable stay without any inconvenience. Although it was raining heavily upon arrival, making sightseeing difficult, the 1:00 PM check-in allowed us to fully enjoy the onsen. The water quality was excellent. By checkout time, the weather had cleared up completely. I noticed many gardeners meticulously cleaning after the rain—an effort that contributes to maintaining this beautiful accommodation. I hope to visit again during autumn foliage season!

    We stayed here for a spring girls' gathering. The open-air bath in the room offered a relaxing and luxurious time with a view of the valley.     It was still early for cherry blossoms, and snow remained, but taking a deep breath in the spacious garden while gazing at the majestic Mount Tanigawa instantly lifted my spirits. The view from the terrace was also stunning, making me want to step out multiple times. The room's open-air bath was, of course, excellent, but the large public bath was clean and very relaxing as well. The meals were outstanding; every dish brought a smile with its deliciousness.     I stayed in late March when snow was still on the ground. Five stars are not enough. It was an incredibly comfortable stay. The warmth I felt during check-in was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. The staff’s manners, smiles, and tone of voice made for a truly pleasant interaction. Even though my birthday had already passed, they celebrated my birth month and even offered a complimentary drink during dinner. I also enjoyed the spa services. Since it was right after check-in, I went in casual clothes, but they kindly asked if I wanted to return to my room in a yukata and provided me with a bag for both the yukata and my clothes. They also gave me skincare products as a gift for my birth month. The meals were delicious and beautifully presented. They used plenty of local ingredients, including an unusual-colored trout that I had never seen or tasted before—it had a light flavor that suited me perfectly. Learning about why the trout turns red added to the enjoyment of the meal. On another note, as someone who loves science, seeing drinks served in test tube-like containers at breakfast was delightful! It made for an extraordinary dining experience that pleased both taste buds and eyes. The reading room was another cozy spot where I spent luxurious time browsing through plant encyclopedias—one of my favorite pastimes. The mugs there were incredible too; their unique shapes and beautiful designs felt like viewing art pieces. This accommodation is beyond words amazing! While I knew it belonged to Relais & Châteaux properties, it exceeded all expectations by far—truly beyond imagination! I want to visit every month now—to enjoy different seasonal views and meals—and will definitely return again soon!

    I always enjoy a refreshing stay here. I love the hot springs at this accommodation and spend half of my time soaking while admiring the great outdoors.     For my wife's birthday

    It was my wife's birthday, so we stayed at Senzu-an, which had left a great impression on us during our previous visit. This time, we were blessed with good weather and took the Tanigawadake Ropeway and lift to the summit, where we enjoyed stunning views of Tanigawadake and the surrounding mountains. The ryokan's hospitality was as excellent as always, and we were able to relax in a spacious room with a semi-open-air bath. The meals were impeccable, and thanks to the accommodation's thoughtful gesture, my wife even received a gift. It was truly satisfying hospitality. We would love to visit again on another occasion.     The food and service were excellent. The onsen facilities were terrific, and there was even a sauna. English-language service is available! I wasn’t a fan of the aging rooms. There were lots of children and some overseas guests.

    Enjoy the snow.

    The meals, facilities, and service were excellent. The staff's polite and attentive care allowed me to refresh my mind after a long time. The meals were generally delicious with generous portions (including a night snack prepared in the room after dinner), and the spacious private dining room ensured we didn't have to worry much about children's voices carrying. While having hot pot as the main dish felt a bit unusual... The private open-air bath in the room was inconvenient as I couldn't adjust the temperature myself; I had to call staff each time and wait 5-10 minutes. Additionally, even if I requested an adjustment in the evening, by morning, it would cool down significantly, requiring another request. However, the bathtub was spacious enough for four people to bathe comfortably. It would be helpful if regular facial cleansers were provided either in the rooms or at the large public baths since none were available. The two large public baths operate on a gender-swapping system; however, one of them has button-operated showers that stop after a set time, which is inconvenient. Regarding car glass cleaning services before checkout: some cars received this service while others did not—it’s unclear what determines this difference. Is it based on whether someone is considered an important guest? This could leave a negative impression. Despite these minor inconveniences: playing in snow within their garden area was delightful with boots and play equipment thoughtfully provided; customer service remained excellent throughout our stay; Wi-Fi speed in our room was sufficient (around 50Mbps); there was even an option for selecting futon firmness! Overall—this accommodation truly stands out as exceptional!

    I was able to relax in the bath.

    It was unfortunate that we couldn't access the courtyard due to the unprecedented heavy snowfall, but the bath was large and spacious, and the open-air bath in the Room was also wide, making it a great Facility for relaxing both body and mind. One concern was the herbal tea pot provided in the Room. There was cloudy water about 5 millimeters high left inside, and not knowing what kind of water it was, I didn't use it. The jacket of the provided samue (work clothes) lacked a right inner tie; I believe it could have been exchanged upon request, but I didn't use it. The shower in the Room's shower booth had water spraying out from behind as if there were a tear at its base, and considerable leakage from where you lift up on the switch lever as well. It is very apparent that all staff members strive to provide maximum hospitality and thoughtfulness; therefore, if there could be more thorough examination and confirmation regarding minor Facilities or equipment needs, I feel comfort would be enhanced even further. Both Facility and staff are excellent; hence my slight disappointment stems from this aspect.

    The open-air bath in the Room was nice.

    The open-air bath in the room was truly a snow-viewing open-air bath, and I was satisfied with its size as well. However, since it was a special open-air bath, I wanted to enjoy it while drinking water, but there was no bottled water in the room. After settling the bill on departure, I received the Ryokan's original water, but I wished it had been placed in the room. Also, the dinner felt like it had too many soup dishes, and having a small pot as the main dish felt a bit lacking for this price. I would have preferred something like steak or shabu-shabu to elevate the experience. However, I chose a Western-style breakfast, and it was very delicious, including the bread. Additionally, the amenities such as shampoo had a strong fragrance overall, and I felt it would be better if the scent was more subdued.
