    I stayed for two nig...

    I stayed for two nights. Both the service and the Room were comfortable, and I was able to relax. The staff’s courteous service was especially impressive. The location is excellent, with an airport bus stop right in front of the Hotel, making access very convenient. From the Room, I enjoyed a beautiful view of Kumamoto Castle. With my support for the recovery in mind, I would definitely like to stay here again when visiting Kumamoto.

    Thank you very much for taking care of us during our stay. Although we felt anxious as it was right after the Kumamoto earthquakes, we came to Kumamoto for a family event we had been preparing for a long time. Since everyone had rearranged their schedules, we decided to go ahead and stayed at your Accommodation. This was our second stay. Once again, the cleanliness of the Room and the staff’s service were impeccable. The breakfast buffet featured many local specialties from Kumamoto Prefecture, and those staying with us for the first time were very satisfied as well. We were deeply moved by your thoughtful hospitality during such a difficult time. With the summer festival canceled, it was quieter inside the property, which allowed us to relax and spend a peaceful time. We would like to visit again when things have become lively once more. The view of Kumamoto Castle from our Room was truly memorable. Thank you very much. Please keep up the great work.

    Thank You for Your Support During the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake

    Thank you very much for all your help during the recent earthquake. In such an anxious situation, your kind and attentive support was truly reassuring. I will never forget that you provided warm snacks when food was scarce, and that you helped heat the food we brought with us. Also, even though the elevator was out of service, you helped carry our heavy luggage down from the 11th floor, which was a tremendous help. I am deeply grateful for your thoughtful care and consideration. I imagine aftershocks and daily inconveniences may still be continuing. Please take good care of yourselves, and I sincerely wish you continued safety and well-being. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

    Used for a business trip The Hotel was excellent! It’s also in a great location—right in front of Torichosuji from Kumamoto Airport. Whenever I’m on a business trip to Kumamoto, I choose this Hotel.

    Overall, the best choice.

    In July 2026, four of us stayed together in one Room as a close group of friends. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming even outside the entrance, and despite the heat everyone greeted us with bright smiles and clear voices—it felt wonderful. The Room was clean with a great view, the meals were delicious, and we also enjoyed the bar that stays open late. We were so satisfied that it made us want to come back. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety and was exciting, though if I had to mention one small point, there was an egg item that wasn’t clearly labeled as raw or boiled. It was a very nice Hotel!

    The location was very convenient, and the front desk and concierge staff greeted us with wonderful smiles, which made our stay truly relaxing. A few things stood out: voices in the elevator hall and corridors echoed and could be heard clearly inside the Room; there was a loud rushing sound when guests on the floor above used the bath or shower; and the TV did not support 4K (it was during the Soccer World Cup season, so that was a bit disappointing). That said, I would like to stay here again if I have the chance. Next time, I’d love to stay in a Room with a view of Kumamoto Castle.

    Exceptionally comfortable.

    I visit Kumamoto about twice a year, but this was my first stay here. The Room didn’t feel dated at all, and the top-floor corner Room was spacious enough. With the high ceiling, it felt wonderfully open. Despite being in the city center, it was very quiet, and we could even see Kumamoto Castle from the window—an outstanding view. Since I checked in late, I considered a Hotel near the station, but choosing this place was absolutely the right decision. For breakfast I debated between the buffet and Japanese set meal on the 4th floor. I chose the Japanese option; everything was carefully prepared and delicious. Next time I’d like to try the buffet as well. I would definitely like to stay here again when I come to Kumamoto next time.

    One-Night Trip to Kumamoto

    This was my first time staying here. I chose Hotel Nikko Kumamoto for a one-night stay, as I was visiting from out of town for a live concert. The guidance from the entrance to the front desk and the attentive service from the front desk staff were excellent, and it truly felt like staying at a full-service Hotel again after a long time. The entire Hotel also had an elegant fragrance, making it a very comfortable space for me. I would love to stay again if I have the opportunity.

    Indoor Tranquility

    From check-in to check-out, it was very quiet despite the heavy rain, and I was able to relax without hearing a single noise. In particular, even during morning cleaning, it remained very quiet and I was able to sleep comfortably. The room was cleaned to an impeccable standard, providing a comfortable environment that truly reflected the strength of the brand.

    Convenient location.

    The location is excellent, right in front of the limousine bus stop and Tsuruya Department Store. However, the futon was heavy and not very comfortable to sleep on. For breakfast, I tried both the buffet and Benkei; the rice porridge at Benkei was lukewarm, but everything was delicious.

    Nice

    It truly has the presence of a Hotel. The Facility is a bit old, but there were no issues. The staff service is consistently excellent. The location is great as well. I had breakfast on the 7th floor, and in the calm, serene atmosphere I was able to relax and enjoy my meal at an unhurried pace. You can also take a coffee to go and unwind in the garden on the same floor. Thank you very much. I recommend it.

    A landmark Hotel in Kumamoto. A refined stay with views of Kumamoto Castle.

    I stayed here for work over the holiday. Even though it was a weekend, I was able to stay at a relatively reasonable rate. The guest room had a calm atmosphere and was comfortable, but what left the strongest impression was the view of Kumamoto Castle. Seeing Kumamoto Castle from the window had a powerful presence and offered a wonderful景観 that truly felt like Kumamoto. The location is excellent, and although it is in central Kumamoto City, the Hotel itself is quiet and has the reassuring feel of a long-established Hotel. It isn’t flashy, but it has the steady reliability you’d expect from a Hotel that has been loved by locals for many years. I also had an opportunity to dine at one of the on-site banquet halls, and both the quality of the food and its taste were excellent. Banquet meals can often be fairly standard, but each dish here felt carefully prepared. While there are more new Hotels these days, this remains an iconic city Hotel in Kumamoto. It’s convenient for both sightseeing and business, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to relax while enjoying views of Kumamoto Castle.

    A Hotel you’ll want to stay at again

    My family of three stayed for one night and two days. Even while we were waiting at the front desk, a staff member came to ask our name, so check-in was smooth. Breakfast was delicious, and we were very satisfied. Overall, it was clear that all the staff were attentive, and we had a very pleasant stay. When we visit Kumamoto again, we would like to stay here again.

    A convenient, classic Hotel in the heart of the city.

    I chose this Hotel because it offers parking and is located in the city center. As a OneHarmony member, I always appreciate the small perks. It was easy to go out for meals, and breakfast featured Kumamoto specialties, which was very satisfying. The front desk staff—especially at the bell desk—were very welcoming and their smiles were comforting. On the other hand, an older gentleman at the driveway had neither a greeting nor a smile... Still, overall it is a Hotel I am happy with, and I would like to stay again.

    Refresh and treat yourself

    It was my first solo trip to Kumamoto in a while. I chose this Hotel because I wanted a slightly luxurious getaway. During the Kumamoto Castle Marathon, I took the Shinkansen and made a same-day round trip, but this time I toured Kumamoto Castle and took a walk around Suizenji Park. It was hot. But once I arrived at the Hotel, it was so wonderful it felt like stepping into another world. I would like to choose it again next time. It was a lovely reward for myself. Thank you for your hospitality.

    A high-class Hotel in central Kumamoto City.

    Although it faces a busy street with tram and bus stops, the interior is a calm space where you hardly notice the traffic. Thanks to the attentive staff, I never felt uneasy about security. The lounge in the early evening was probably an exception, but it was packed with what seemed like a cheerful group of middle-aged and older men. The Room had a relaxed atmosphere and a practical layout, with convenient luggage space and storage. Compared with some time ago, I hesitated because it felt a bit pricey for a weekday Reservation, but I was satisfied with my Room’s location: it offered great views of Kumamoto Castle and looked down over the chapel and garden as well. The window-side sofa was clean-looking faux leather. The bathroom also felt refreshed in parts; having a separate washing area made it very comfortable, and I loved relaxing under the ReFa mist shower. The breakfast buffet had plenty of delicious Hotel-made dishes full of local character—I ended up eating far more than planned. Thank you for taking such good care of me. Also, being able to use the underground parking garage with in-and-out access for an additional fee (2,200 yen per night this time) is a big plus compared with baking in outdoor parking under the blazing sun.

    Convenient Location

    The room was a comfortable size, and we could see Kumamoto Castle from the window. Kumamoto Castle is within walking distance, and you can also catch the bus to Kumamoto Airport right in front of the Hotel. The location is convenient for shopping and dining, which we really liked.

    As usual, I enjoyed a leisurely breakfast. I was satisfied to be able to try Kumamoto’s local specialties. If I could head home later that day, I would have liked to relax a bit longer, but I’ll plan again next time.

    High expectations for a prestigious Hotel brand, and deep disappointment with the service

    My first trip to Kumamoto with my parents. Seeking a worry-free stay, I made a Reservation for two nights at Hotel Nikko Kumamoto. What we experienced there, however, was insincere service and deep frustration. Because we were three guests, I reserved a “corner” Room with a view of Kumamoto Castle one month in advance and had already checked the photos on the official website. But when we opened the curtains in the Room on the 9th floor, we were speechless. Outside the window was the bleak rooftop of a neighboring building and cluttered stored items. The third bed was noticeably lower than the others, making the entire Room feel cramped. Seeing my parents trying to comfort me by saying, “It’s still spacious enough,” filled me with anger and sadness. This might be their only trip to Kumamoto in their lifetime—why should they be given a Room like this? If my parents had been traveling alone without being able to communicate well, they would have had no choice but to endure it. Nationality has nothing to do with basic rights as guests; a sincere apology from the Hotel would have been appropriate. When I spoke with the front desk, they said it was because “there was no request for a high floor at Reservation.” That explanation is unacceptable. For a Reservation made one month ahead of time, assigning what felt like an almost “problem” Room at the same rate as better-view Rooms raises serious questions about this Hotel’s standards. I paid more than standard rates and did not ask for any refund of the difference; what disappointed me most was that staff seemed to treat this unfair handling as if it were normal or justified. I also felt strongly uncomfortable with how staff sounded when calling housekeeping about changing our Room—as if we were making an inconvenient request—and how overly friendly they appeared toward other guests by comparison. To be fair, after we were moved, our 12th-floor Room had exactly the beautiful view shown in photos. On our third morning, breakfast at Japanese restaurant “Benkei” was excellent, and I found genuine comfort in the refined service of an experienced staff member there. While some hospitality truly impressed us, parts of this stay left us deeply hurt due to unequal treatment by certain staff members. If a Hotel forgets sincere respect for each guest as an individual, it ultimately diminishes its brand value. I sincerely hope no other guest has to go through such a disappointing experience again.

    The Room was very clean, comfortably sized, and offered a view of Kumamoto Castle, so we were very satisfied. If I had one suggestion, it would be better to separate the toilet from the washbasin and shower area.

    A Calm Hotel at the Foot of Kumamoto Castle

    Once a samurai residence district in the Edo period, this is a JAL-affiliated Hotel later opened on the former Kumani site. The longer circulation and slightly stately front desk create a strong first impression. Senior staff are stationed on the floor to guide younger team members, and their attentive oversight stood out. Their polite greetings also left a good impression. They seem well accustomed to international guests, so there were no concerns about safety. The Room was clean and well maintained with no issues. When I borrowed a few amenities, the response was quick as well. I felt well cared for and could stay with peace of mind. Overall, it was five days of gratitude.\n

    Although it was a short two-night stay, my first visit to Kumamoto was truly wonderful. Thank you very much. I felt exceptional added value that other hotels do not offer, thanks to the well-trained hospitality and the thoughtful 2:00 PM check-in. In particular, Kumamoto Castle seen from the window looked beautiful at times and powerful at others. It felt like the very foundation of the spirit of the people of Kumamoto Prefecture. I would love to stay again on my next visit.

    Reliable as always—Japan Airlines.

    I reserved a Room with a view of Kumamoto Castle, and thanks to the great weather, I was able to enjoy the beautiful scenery from the Room. The Room Facilities were good, and I had a comfortable stay. For breakfast, I chose the buffet. I felt that refilling the dishes was a bit slow. Each dish was delicious. The omelet was also very good. It was disappointing that the coffee maker was broken. Overall, it was a great Accommodation. If I visit Kumamoto again, I would like to stay here again.

    Still wonderful as always!

    I stay here once or twice every year. While the Facility feels a bit dated, the staff’s service and the meals are truly excellent. This time I stayed with my elderly father, and we were able to relax and feel at ease throughout our stay. Thank you very much.
