    Everything was great.

    The staff were very courteous and attentive. I used the large public bath on the 4th floor, and both the changing area and the bathing area were clean and pleasant. I was able to relax in my Room, and all amenities were provided, so I had a very comfortable stay. The meals were also delicious. The price is a little high, but it is well worth staying here. I would like to stay again. Thank you for your hospitality.

    This will be my go-to accommodation.

    A short trip with my female friends in our 50s. From the bus driver to the staff in charge of our Room, the ladies at the dining area, and everyone at the front desk, we received such warm hospitality and had a very comfortable stay. The building is old, but it has the charm of a long-established place, which I really like. There were three large public baths as well, each with its own character, and they were all very relaxing. The meals were delicious and we were completely satisfied. An Accommodation I’d love to return to. Thank you very much.

    We could really feel the staff’s warm hospitality.

    We stayed for one night as a family to celebrate my mother’s 88th birthday. At dinner, you prepared a celebratory red vest and cap for her, and we took a commemorative family photo. The food was excellent, and you even arranged a special celebratory meal, making it a joyful and memorable occasion for both my mother and our whole family. There are three large public baths, with men’s and women’s sections switching depending on the time. Sanno-no-Yu in particular was outstanding. I have no complaints at all, but if I had to mention one thing, the walk to the baths and dining area was quite cold, which was a slight downside. The welcome drinks were Moët champagne and a Kagoshima kumquat cocktail—both were delicious. Of course, we also enjoyed viewing Yokoyama Taikan’s paintings. It was a wonderful trip that became a cherished family memory. Thank you very much to all the staff.

    I stayed here 30 years ago. The building has been expanded quite a bit, but the view from the window was unchanged. The meals were even more luxurious than I imagined, and each small dish was made with quality ingredients. The bath in the Room was also an Onsen, which I really enjoyed. The only thing that concerned me was that there were no towels kept in the Room. I felt there should at least be a towel available for washing your face in the morning. It was disappointing not to have towels when I wanted to use the in-room Onsen several times. Everyone at the Ryokan was wonderful and always smiling. The waterfall and koi were elegant as well.

    This is the best accommodation—I’d love to stay here again!

    I stayed here on a girls’ trip with a friend who had just returned to Japan after a long time. It was truly the best Accommodation! At my friend’s request, we were looking for an Accommodation with a lovely traditional Japanese atmosphere, and this was our first stay here. The garden, the views, the building—everything had such wonderful charm. I’ve stayed in many places, but among Japanese-style Accommodations, this is the best. The meals were delicious and carefully prepared, and even my friend—who is actually friends with a chef—was very satisfied. The hospitality and the bath were also so comfortable; it’s an outstanding Accommodation. The only minor points were that the refrigerator can get loud at times, and I’d love to see an upgraded hair dryer. Other than that, there’s nothing to complain about. It became an amazing memory for us. Thank you very much.

    A Welcoming Accommodation

    A stay with my parents. Thank you for assigning two Rooms close to each other on the same floor for our Reservation. From the moment we arrived, all staff warmly welcomed us, and they promptly prepared a wheelchair for my father, who has difficulty walking. I saw some Reviews saying the building is like a maze and you can get lost, but it wasn’t that complicated, and we enjoyed exploring the property on the way to our Room. My parents enjoyed the in-room Onsen, and they were especially delighted to watch Atami’s wonderful fireworks from our Room. The meals felt like classic Ryokan cuisine. The portions and seasoning seemed perfect for my parents. For breakfast, I think a bit more creativity in both variety and presentation would be nice. The Facility shows its age, and we occasionally felt some inconvenience. That said, thanks to the warm words and thoughtful care from all staff, it was a relaxing stay. I hope to visit again with my parents. Thank you very much.

    An Accommodation where you can experience authentic Japanese hospitality and heartfelt service

    More than the wonderful Facility and meals, the service from everyone we encountered—from the phone call before our stay onward—was truly pleasant and comforting. Even having a welcome drink felt genuinely warm and friendly, and we were also grateful to the person who helped us when we got lost. One member of our group has complex food allergies, and they honestly told us they could not accommodate everything. Even so, on the day they carefully adjusted the menu as much as possible and went above and beyond to provide all kinds of information, which allowed us to feel at ease throughout our stay. We are especially grateful to the male staff member who took care of our dinner and breakfast. It makes perfect sense that many Reviews mention using this Accommodation for family milestone celebrations. With a strong sense of security and consistency, you can truly relax during your stay. We are already planning to stay again soon.

    Feels like you've arrived at a traditional Ryokan!

    Since it was a weekday with fewer guests, I was lucky to have the large public bath all to myself. It was clean, and both the indoor and open-air baths were absolutely wonderful. The meals were just the right amount—not too much—and each dish was delightful, including dessert. Breakfast was also excellent. The room was a deluxe twin on the top floor with a separate Western-style bedroom, making it very comfortable to stay in. The room also had an open-air bath, and the view was beautiful. As this is a long-established ryokan that has undergone multiple renovations, it initially feels like a maze-like structure but becomes easy to navigate once you get used to it. If only the private bath in the room had been flowing continuously (without needing to fill or adjust temperature manually), it would have been even better!

    The service had a comfortable balance of attentiveness. The Room, bath, and meals were delightful, making it a very satisfying celebration for my father's 70th birthday. It wasn't flashy but was calm and comfortable to stay in.

    First Stay

    This was my first stay at the accommodation. The explanation provided by the front desk staff during check-in was clear and polite, and the room attendant also explained everything thoroughly and kindly. The ryokan itself feels a bit like a maze, but thanks to their excellent guidance, I had no trouble finding my way around. The meals were good in terms of content, though I felt the flavors were slightly stronger than typical Kyoto cuisine—perhaps catering to many guests from Kanto? Still, I enjoyed them very much. The onsen was wonderful, and the courtyard was beautiful as well. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t ideal this time; however, I’d love to visit again when it’s likely to be sunny. This being my 50th accommodation stay this year turned out to be a truly memorable experience. Thank you very much!

    Attention to detail reveals true care.

    I stayed on a weekday. Although I had shared some requests in advance, not only were all of them met, but the hospitality exceeded my expectations, leaving me deeply impressed (details omitted). The meals were beyond imagination and, although described as modest in portion size, they provided more than enough satisfaction for us middle-aged guests. It was such a memorable stay that even my companion remarked it was "the best Ryokan we've ever stayed at." If I may point out one thing, the traditional structure connecting to the annex made the interior somewhat maze-like and required some walking to get around. However, considering the nature of Atami's location, this might be unavoidable. The facility was impeccably maintained throughout, and all staff members provided consistently pleasant service. This is truly an exceptional accommodation that I would wholeheartedly recommend to friends so they can experience its charm as well.

    A wonderful accommodation.

    We visited to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. Although it was not a room with an ocean view, the autumn leaves in the garden were beautifully dyed in red, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful scenery. The weather was nice, so we could have our welcome drink at the garden seating, which made my grandmother very happy. The room was extremely clean and comfortable, and above all, the food was absolutely delicious. The large public bath had various options to enjoy, and the staff's hospitality was excellent. I believe this accommodation is among the top-quality places I have ever stayed at. Thank you for even providing a commemorative gift for our celebration. We hope to visit again while my grandmother is still healthy!

    I'm glad I chose Daikanso.

    Having stayed during the summer and being impressed in every way, I decided to book Daikanso early for my mother's 90th birthday celebration. The hospitality was exceptional, and thanks to the staff, we were able to spend a safe and comfortable time. My mother was deeply touched by their thoughtful gestures and was extremely pleased. Every meal was delicious, and even my mother with a small appetite finished everything and enjoyed some sake as well. She expressed her desire to stay in this room, at this place again, saying it brought her not just accommodation but also energy and joy. The innkeeper's attentive actions made me feel that Daikanso will continue to shine as an outstanding accommodation.

    Taking my mother along

    It was a 2-day, 1-night trip with my 89-year-old mother. She was very happy as it was a Ryokan she had visited several times with my father when he was alive, holding many fond memories. However, due to repeated expansions, the garden has become smaller, and the interior feels like a maze with many steps, which made it difficult for my mother who has trouble walking. The bath was very relaxing and warming. It would be nice if the amenities were of slightly higher quality. The meals were colorful, luxurious, and thoroughly enjoyable.

    "Golden Wedding Anniversary Trip to Atami - Completely Satisfied"

    Access by car involved a narrow uphill road, which was a bit concerning, but as soon as we reached the top, the sign for Daikanso was clearly visible and easy to find. The building and garden had the serene charm of a traditional Japanese-style former villa, creating a calm and pleasant atmosphere! The large public bath was also impeccably clean and provided a relaxing experience. From our Room, we could see Hatsushima right in front of us and Oshima in the distance behind it—the sunrise view was absolutely breathtaking! What left the biggest impression on us were the smiles of all the staff members. From guiding our car to warmly welcoming us with bright hospitality, their service made us feel truly happy. Both dinner and breakfast offered an extensive variety of dishes that were all delicious. The staff's cheerful service during meals was also exceptional. It genuinely felt like staying at a luxurious Ryokan! We definitely want to stay here again (next time during the fireworks festival...).

    Glad you chose us.

    Stayed with my parents (3 people) A Japanese-Western style room on the 5th floor called "Tatsunami." The layout of the accommodation was like a complex maze, and we got lost once, but it became a good memory. The upgraded dinner was delicious and definitely worth it. Most importantly, my parents were very happy and satisfied. Since it was a weekday, the room was very quiet, and we didn’t encounter anyone other than the staff on our floor. It was truly peaceful. When opening the window in the room to step out onto the wooden deck, you could only faintly hear trains passing by—perfect for relaxing at this accommodation. The bath in the room had just the right depth, and adjusting the water temperature was easy, which helped my elderly parents greatly. The view from our room was wonderful; we enjoyed it during daytime, nighttime, and morning hours alike. The garden was also lovely—we fed koi fish and even saw some autumn leaves in certain areas. Thank you for your hospitality during our stay! We would love to stay again if given another opportunity!

    Traveling with Elderly Parents

    It was a long-awaited trip with my elderly parents, and I truly appreciate how kindly you accommodated all our requests. This was my second visit this year, and I definitely want to come again. The staff were all genuinely sincere in their service without being overbearing. The Onsen offered both a traditional, calming bath and a chic, elegant one, which we thoroughly enjoyed. I absolutely love this accommodation. I will visit again!!

    Meals, bath, room, view - all excellent.

    It was my first visit. The view from the Room was excellent, offering a clear sight of Hatsushima and the entire town. The meals, including Ise lobster sashimi and abalone steak, were delightful and brought great satisfaction to us as a couple. The Ise lobster miso soup served the next morning was also delicious, and both breakfast and dinner were of high quality. The food seemed to use premium ingredients. The view from the bath was also wonderful, with an open front creating a pleasant bathing experience. The welcome drink area had a great atmosphere with jazz music playing, allowing us to fully enjoy an extraordinary experience. I would love to visit again!

    Fireworks and Onsen

    I stayed at the accommodation to enjoy the fireworks display over the sea during the deepening autumn season. I chose a Western-style room, and both the room and the onsen were very comfortable. However, I felt that having more amenities would be better. It would be nice to have multiple body towels, shower caps, and bath towels available. I believe these could be provided upon request. The meals were delicious, but what stood out most was the excellent service. All staff members, including our room attendant, were incredibly kind and attentive. Thank you very much for taking care of us during our stay!

Additionally, I chose a Western-style breakfast, but it felt somewhat lacking—frozen bread and salad made from ingredients similar to those used for dinner side dishes. While it might cater to foreign guests, there’s no need to force a Western-style option (though it could be recommended for multiple night stays). The traditional Japanese cuisine is more than sufficient and highly appreciated.

    We stayed as a group of three senior women. The staff's attentiveness was excellent, allowing us to have a pleasant stay. As expected of a long-established Ryokan, despite its age, both the interior and exterior, as well as the Onsen, were clean and well-maintained, which left us deeply impressed. The meals were carefully prepared and delicious, and the serving staff were very polite and friendly, making dining an enjoyable experience. Next time, we will visit with our family.

    Delicious meals and excellent staff hospitality.

    The non-smoking room we were concerned about turned out to be worry-free, as there was no unpleasant smell either inside the room or on the balcony, which was a relief. We enjoyed seasonal cocktails while admiring the garden and listening to stories about the magnificent pine trees, which made for a wonderful time. Although the hotel seemed too vast to explore, visiting was definitely the right choice. The meals were absolutely delicious. We often visit Izu and are familiar with abalone prepared as "dancing grill," but we learned for the first time about the differences between male and female abalone, and that the blue ones are rich in minerals, tender, and incredibly tasty. The staff's detailed explanations were enlightening, and the abalone was so delicious it left a lasting impression. Being a family that loves sashimi, we thoroughly enjoyed the generous serving of sashimi, including Ise lobster. The dessert, consisting solely of fresh fruits without any sweet treats, was perfect for my taste. However, I would have appreciated even a small slice of fruit from dinner being served at breakfast, as there were no fruits available in the morning. Reaching the room was a bit challenging, and we had to rely on the staff to guide us several times. During those moments, we had delightful conversations with them, and their assistance was greatly appreciated. My elderly father, who usually dislikes walking, seemed less bothered thanks to the staff's company, and he didn’t find the hotel’s layout too inconvenient. The private bath in the room, which could be turned into an open-air bath by opening the window, offered stunning views and became our favorite feature. The newly built Sanno no Yu was clean and refreshing, but I particularly enjoyed the onsen at Hinoki no Yu—it felt exceptional, though perhaps it was just my imagination. Since we used the private onsen in the room multiple times, having two bath towels per person would have been more convenient. The yukata-style samue was a first for me, but it was very comfortable to sleep in. While some might find it too casual, I didn’t mind at all and even wore it to meals with an overcoat. When we arrived, my mother was slightly disappointed that the shuttle service wasn’t a Benz like last month. However, by the time we left, she was extremely satisfied, saying the meals and service were the best we’ve had in a long time. The hospitality of all the staff was outstanding. We would love to visit again, and we look forward to your continued excellent service.

    Relax and Stay at a Traditional Ryokan

    I visited with my wife. The room was renovated and very convenient to use. The breakfast and dinner were truly excellent. The Onsen was also great. As for the welcome drink, I am not a fan of sweet cocktails. Considering the current trend of low-sugar options, regular sparkling wine or tea might be better. Additionally, the amenities like shampoo and conditioner felt more like those in a Business Hotel. It would also be nice to have separate cotton pajamas (top and bottom). Since this is a luxury Ryokan in Atami, there might still be room for some improvements.

    We celebrated my mother's 80th birthday with a special family trip and had a wonderful stay. The nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere allowed us to relax and enjoy our time together. From the initial communication, the staff was kind and attentive, making us feel at ease before our arrival. Their hospitality was exceptional. The meals were beautifully prepared for the occasion, with thoughtful presentation and even a gift included! Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious (though it would have been nice if the salad dressing at breakfast was served on the side). Watching the sunrise with my mother created unforgettable memories. I am especially grateful to the staff who kindly assisted my mother until she got into the car due to her mobility issues.     It was a mother-daughter trip with my elderly mother.

    I traveled with my elderly mother. Since my mother has some difficulty walking, I gave one less star because the Ryokan had more stairs than expected, but everything else, including the meals and baths, was absolutely satisfying! The staff were all very attentive and made our stay pleasant.

    It was the best accommodation.

    It was a three-person trip, meeting up with my mother and sister who live far away. The accommodation was a wonderful ryokan! Although it wasn't barrier-free and had some inconveniences for my mother, who has difficulty with her legs, I rated the facility a 4. However, everything else deserves the highest praise. The building has historical significance but has been renovated into a modern Japanese style. From our room, we could see Hatsushima Island, Oshima Island, and Atami's cityscape in the distance. The garden is well-maintained with ponds, streams, and even small waterfalls—perfect for strolling within the premises. The food was excellent!! Everything was delicious and visually delightful as well. All three of us nearly finished every dish completely. While enjoying welcome cocktails overlooking Atami Bay, I thought how wonderful it would be to hold my daughters' engagement ceremony here someday. I am also grateful for the thoughtful hospitality from everyone at the ryokan, including the proprietress. Next time, I hope to visit with all four family members!

    It was a wonderful Ryokan.

    We stayed here for a trip to celebrate my father's 88th birthday. We chose a Japanese-Western style room with an Onsen on the top floor and upgraded our meal course. The room had a sofa and massage chair, allowing my elderly father to relax comfortably. From the balcony, we enjoyed stunning views of Hatsushima and Oshima in the distance. The meals were exceptional, with tableware and decorations arranged in celebration style, and they even gave my father a commemorative gift. My father usually prefers light flavors and avoids processed or strongly flavored foods. However, he thoroughly enjoyed both dinner and breakfast this time, repeatedly saying how delicious everything was—this made me happier than anything else. We had informed them in advance that my father dislikes sea urchin (uni) and salmon roe (ikura), so they kindly adjusted his dishes with alternative ingredients. The room was impeccably clean, and the staff's guidance was courteous—we are truly grateful for their hospitality. We tried all of the Onsen facilities but found Sanno no Yu to be the best of all. Thanks to everyone at the Ryokan, it became a wonderful commemorative trip for us. We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude!

    I was very satisfied.

    In September, we stayed to celebrate my parents' 80th birthday. Although we mentioned during the reservation that it was for a celebration, we did not book a special meal course. However, during dinner, they prepared dishes with celebratory presentation and even surprised us with a pair of commemorative chopsticks! The whole family was deeply moved. Thank you so much. We enjoyed delicious welcome drinks while admiring the beautiful garden. The indoor onsen allowed us to adjust the temperature to our liking, so we could fully relax in a hotter bath. Facing the large window overlooking the sea was a sunken kotatsu-style table where we leisurely sipped beer and tea. For both dinner and breakfast, we chose smaller courses which were perfectly portioned; every dish was incredibly delicious. We savored matsutake mushroom dobin-mushi as well as abalone and Ise lobster. We also visited BAR LINK/3 within the accommodation; it had great ambiance and served custom-made cocktails tailored to our preferences. The service provided by everyone who assisted us was efficient yet warm-hearted. We would love to see the autumn foliage or winter garden next time!

    I definitely want to visit again!

    We stayed as a couple nearing our 60s and were thoroughly impressed with everything—meals, Onsen, room, service, and spa. The welcome drink being a seasonal cocktail (with or without alcohol) was a delightful touch of hospitality. For meals, we chose the [Upgraded Cuisine Plan], featuring luxurious ingredients like Ise lobster, abalone, and Shizuoka Wagyu beef in Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine—it was absolutely the right choice. Our room was the Japanese-modern [Luxury Twin] Western-style twin bedroom. Although it mentioned no ocean view, from Room 221 we could see a bit of the sea along with a lush green garden right in front of us. We were very satisfied. As for the Onsen, we highly recommend [Sanno-no-Yu], which offers the best panoramic views among all large baths. My husband was also completely satisfied with everything. We will definitely come back again!
