    I keep coming back.

    This is my favorite Hotel. My spouse and I stay here as a couple to relax. This time, we were glad we could see the fireworks from our Room.

    It’s wrong to say there’s nothing to do at Lake Biwa.

    Spending a day in the lounge was very relaxing, and I enjoyed the spectacular views of Lake Biwa. The Room had a refreshing blue theme and was clean. At night, the fountain on the lake added a beautiful touch. The pastries were rich in flavor, and the coin-shaped chocolate baked sweets were delicious. A dish of thinly sliced yellow and red bell peppers mixed with mushrooms was also excellent. However, aside from mini burgers, there were few substantial savory items as mentioned in other reviews, which felt lacking for a lounge offering. Breakfast in the lounge was Japanese-style and outstanding in both ingredients and taste—an excellent breakfast. Check-in is done in the lounge, but the staff spoke too softly to hear clearly; I would have preferred them to speak more clearly and confidently.

    For a wonderful birthday.

    I overcame hardships with a friend who had surgery for the same illness when we were 30, and we have stayed close ever since. She has now turned 70, and February is our birthday month. Before I retired, I used to stay here every February with my coworkers on a birthday Plan. I love Ruri-no-Yu. Dinner was French cuisine, and I treated myself to some wine; I also looked forward to breakfast at The Garden and enjoyed it very much. Sometimes there were dishes using ingredients from the Lake Biwa area, and I especially loved the curry—it was delicious. Things changed during the COVID period… but the Italian food is outstanding! There is a wide variety of menu items, and everything is delicious. We also received a surprise birthday celebration plate. The Room was spacious, perfect for relaxing chats and watching the Olympics. Even the shower—especially when washing my hair in the bath—felt wonderful, and I truly enjoyed it. We were able to spend two lovely, happy days. Thank you.

    Staycation

    This stay was for a relaxing “hotel vacation” to unwind from daily fatigue. I love the club lounge, and this is my 3rd or 4th time staying here. The Room is spacious, and the Lake Biwa view is very soothing. I’m also happy that I can step out onto the balcony. The Onsen is relaxing when it’s not crowded. It can get noisy when large groups are there, but that can’t really be helped. Having towels available there at all times is also very helpful. The lounge is a great place to unwind. The afternoon cakes were delicious (though there were a few items I personally didn’t love), and there was such a wide selection—canelés, burgers, and more—that I couldn’t finish everything. The cocktail time selection was limited, which was disappointing. I would have loved it if items like the afternoon burgers had still been available then. The fruit selection was the same at both afternoon and cocktail time; since the restaurant had a strawberry fair, I wished there had been strawberries at least during one of those times. The fresh chocolate at night time was delicious! It’s amazing that alcohol is available during any time slot! I’m also happy they can make various cocktails on request, but since staff aren’t always at the counter, I feel hesitant about asking sometimes—even though everyone responds with a smile... Breakfast was also relaxing, and it made me happy to enjoy good food at an easy pace. If it’s not too busy next time, I’d like to try breakfast in the restaurant as well. I requested an aroma rental, but even after trying multiple outlets, the aroma pot’s power light never turned on—it seemed to be broken. After struggling with it for dozens of minutes, I ended up exhausted instead of relaxed. Please check that devices are working before lending them out. I’m glad I could make a Reservation the day before for Mitsuidera Chikara Mochi as a souvenir—the mochi was soft and delicious. This is one of my favorite hotels, so I’m looking forward to visiting again soon."""

    Wonderful

    I stayed here because friends came to visit from Fukushima. When we arrived, the view of Lake Biwa from the balcony was amazing, and at night the scenery was beautiful, which made them very happy. The bath was also excellent. The staff were very kind and helpful. Thank you very much.

    I stayed here for business in Kyoto. I had used it for sightseeing before, but since it’s close to Kyoto, I wanted a place where I could rest with peace of mind. I arrived in the early evening and all the counters were occupied, so I expected to have to wait. However, the staff promptly came to take my luggage, and they quickly completed my check-in at a desk outside the counter area. They also upgraded me. I was extremely tired that day and not feeling well, and ended up resting in my Room, but thanks to their warm consideration, I was able to head out again the next morning. Thank you very much.

    We really enjoyed our stay!

    The staff were very attentive, and it was a truly wonderful Hotel. The view of Lake Biwa from the Room was amazing and very relaxing. The illuminated fountain display was also beautiful. It was my first time staying on the club floor, and I really enjoyed unwinding in the lounge. The lounge food, including breakfast, was delicious. The Onsen was also excellent. I would definitely like to stay at this Hotel again! Thank you very much.

    Snowy Lake Biwa has its own special charm.

    I have stayed at Biwako Hotel several times. I had never seen snow in the Lake Country before, so since this was a Reservation for early February, I hoped to catch some—while also praying it wouldn’t actually accumulate, because my car has regular tires. The evening before, Mount Hiei looked dark, but by morning it was pure white. Around the Hotel, snow started falling around 7 a.m., yet hadn’t settled—perfect timing as I enjoyed breakfast in the lounge. White flakes drifted down from gray clouds and swirled unpredictably in the turbulence around the building. It was a beautiful sight, like fireflies dancing in the air. Savoring Omi beef tsukudani, Biwa trout, red konnyaku, and Hino-na pickles while taking in snowy Lake Biwa felt wonderfully indulgent—especially with a glass of Lake Biwa Beer Pale Ale in hand first thing in the morning. Sitting by the lounge’s large windows made me feel like royalty as I ate breakfast. Biwako Hotel always leaves me satisfied in one way or another, no matter when I visit.

    Long-established Hotel

    The view of Lake Biwa from the Room was wonderful. The illuminated fountain at night was also beautiful. It was a bit far, but I took a walk to see the former Biwa Lake Hotel as well; it was an impressive, dignified building. 　Breakfast offered a wide variety, and I also enjoyed the Omi beef rice bowl. 　The Room was spacious, and I had a comfortable stay. Thank you for your hospitality.

    This was my fourth stay in the past five years on a Plan with dinner and breakfast included. Even considering rising prices, I felt that both the dinner and breakfast selections had decreased and the quality had declined significantly. Other than the dessert, there was nothing I found tasty, which was very disappointing, especially given the accommodation cost. I think the value for money is quite poor.

    We visited Biwako Hotel for the first time in quite a while to celebrate my mother’s birthday. In our Room, you had prepared a birthday card addressed to her and decorated it with flowers, which made her truly happy. At dinner, even though “Omi” is a Japanese restaurant, you surprised us with sweets featuring a lovely message. I was deeply moved by your warm hospitality. Dinner at “Omi” was full of delightful surprises. I used to dislike trout and red konjac, but this time they were delicious. The duck jibuni and sushi were also excellent. A staff member who was very knowledgeable about sake not only helped us choose the right sake, but also showed thoughtful attention in many ways, which made our dinner time even more enjoyable. The relaxing view of Lake Biwa from the Room and the beautiful blue accents throughout were wonderful and soothing. Thank you for helping make this such a memorable trip. Only the breakfast buffet felt a little lacking. Next time, I will choose a Plan that includes breakfast at “Omi”.

    Enjoy the lounge

    This was my first stay since the lounge opened, and it was excellent. At tea time, there was a great variety of sweets, savory items, and light snacks, which I really enjoyed. The main tea-time dessert and the dedicated breakfast are not all-you-can-take, but I think it’s a wonderful initiative that focuses on using Shiga’s local specialties in the menu. Also, the alcohol selection is outstanding in both variety and availability by time of day—perfect for those who enjoy a drink. Many Shiga specialties were offered among the drinks as well, which really enhanced the feeling of being on a trip. If I have the chance, I would definitely like to use it again on future visits.

    This was my first st...

    This was my first stay. It’s a Resort Hotel with a simple, understated design typical of Keihan, and I was able to enjoy a comfortable stay at a reasonable price. All Rooms face the lake with great views, and since there are no Rooms directly opposite, noise wasn’t an issue. It also seems unlikely that you’ll get a “bad” Room, which is nice.

    The locally sourced breakfast was very satisfying.

    The Italian dinner was average, but the Omi beef hot pot for breakfast, along with the rice and side dishes, was very delicious. The bath was a good size, and the water temperature was not too hot. However, it seems that some Rooms had yukata while others had samue loungewear; I would have liked samue to be provided in every Room.

    A perfect base for your trip to Lake Biwa.

    Biwako Hotel is a favorite of mine, and I keep coming back. Every Room has a lake view, there is a spacious Onsen bath area with a steam sauna, and the breakfast buffet is delicious and satisfying, making great use of Shiga ingredients. I was thrilled to get a great deal with an IKYU Reservation. Our Room was “Lumina” with a lake-view terrace—bright, on the 9th floor corner, and the views were outstanding. We stayed the night before an opera performance at Biwako Hall the next day. I chose to stay over because I was worried about snowfall this time of year, and it turned out to be exactly the right decision. It’s also very convenient for sightseeing around Lake Biwa, so we always venture out a bit more each visit. We took our time at the Hotel with opera as the main event, enjoyed sightseeing in Sakamoto, and were lucky with clear weather (heavy snow came the next day). It ended up being an amazing trip—if I do say so myself!

    We stayed here for a girls’ trip with friends. We booked a Plan with Club Lounge access, so we spent a lot of time there. The lounge was quiet and very comfortable, and the snacks that changed throughout the day were delicious. The chef in the Club Lounge was also courteous and attentive. The Room itself is not new, but it was well cleaned and we had a pleasant stay. The Onsen was never crowded no matter when we went, which was another great point. We also dined at Restaurant Bellarago, and the female staff member who assisted us provided wonderful service. Thank you very much to everyone.

    Isn't this the kind of thing? Improving this would enhance the image, wouldn't it? Wouldn't it also lead to attracting more guests? But does this Hotel not have such a department or person in charge? If so, wouldn't it be judged as just that level of a Hotel? What a shame.

    I have stayed several times, but this time it was a reservation without dinner and lounge access. The view from the window was great, and I was able to spend a relaxing time. I also appreciate the consideration given to the table arrangements during breakfast. Thank you very much.

    A comfortable Hotel with a sense of openness

    We stayed as a family of four. For dinner, we used the birthday coupon available through club membership and enjoyed the most luxurious Japanese course meal. Every dish was perfect, showcasing the chef's genuine passion for cooking. It was incredibly delicious. The Omi beef melted in our mouths like nothing we've ever experienced before. The Hotel faces Lake Biwa, offering stunning views from both the restaurant and room, creating a sense of openness everywhere you go. The Onsen provided a relaxing experience, and the sauna's backrest perfectly fit the curve of my back, making it very comfortable to sit in. If you ask at the front desk, it seems you can get a discount for Michigan activities!

    Relaxed by the lake view.

    The shuttle bus service to and from Otsu Station was very convenient as our dinner location was nearby. However, my companion had difficulty sleeping due to the bed and pillow not being comfortable for them.

    Absolutely wonderful!

    The staff, facility, meals, Onsen, and lounge were all impeccable. As a resident of Kyoto City, I would love to visit again for another light yet luxurious trip. However, one issue! My child developed a high fever late at night, and I went to the parking lot to get fever-reducing medicine. Unfortunately, the elevator only operated to the lobby floor during nighttime hours. From there, I had to walk down one floor to reach the parking lot. That day was during New Year’s holidays with a snowstorm blowing outside. The distance was over 300 meters, and I ended up freezing cold. This is unacceptable for a first-class hotel. While there may be reasons like security or energy-saving measures behind this system, it should not inconvenience guests in such situations. Although I considered deducting points for this issue, everything else was so excellent that I'll still give full marks this time. If this system remains unchanged next time though—I won’t return again! Also—that razor provided is no good either!

    I used this Hotel several times when my children were small. This time, after more than a decade, I was disappointed with the cleanliness. There were two sofas by the window, but both had long hairs on them, which made me uncomfortable and I didn’t sit on them at all. I think fabric chairs should be cleaned with adhesive tape or similar methods. The same goes for the carpeted floor; my slippers ended up covered in hair. Another issue was the limited variety of items at the buffet. Considering it was New Year’s pricing, I expected something more luxurious. It felt quite inferior compared to city Hotel buffets. As for amenities, they needed to be requested—perhaps as an environmental measure or cost-saving effort; I'm not sure which. The location is great though, and I enjoyed walking around Lake Biwa.

    Resort Time by the Shores of Lake Biwa

    A breathtaking location overlooking Lake Biwa. An unparalleled natural experience that cannot be found in city hotels. The Club Lounge here is a personal favorite, with attentive staff, well-curated presentation times, and beautifully designed spaces. I enjoyed such a wonderful time that I found myself lingering there longer than expected. In the past, the focus on local ingredients was a distinctive feature, though it seems to have slightly diminished recently. Even so, the menu during presentation times is refreshed with every visit, showcasing continuous improvement and creativity. Looking forward to my next stay while continuing to support this Hotel. Thank you very much!

    It was a cold season...

    It was a cold season at the end of the year, so my purpose was to enjoy the Onsen and Hotel stay. Since it was just the time when Christmas decorations were being replaced with New Year’s decorations, I could feel the seasonal atmosphere. I arrived slightly early and although they kept my luggage at reception, I had to wait without being guided to a lounge until after 2 PM for check-in. Hotels with club lounges usually allow you to wait in the lounge even if you arrive early, so I felt a bit concerned about their service initially. However, everything after that exceeded my expectations. The club lounge had beautiful interiors where I could relax and lose track of time. Starting from tea time, I enjoyed craft beer and various appetizers as well. I wished there was more variety in the morning snacks though. In the morning, I indulged in another Onsen session and leisurely read newspapers in the lounge before realizing it was already noon for check-out. The Onsen itself had no noticeable smell or color but proved effective as my back pain from over a year disappeared by bedtime! Whether it was due to the Onsen or their comfortable bed remains unclear; however, it allowed me one of my most refreshing sleeps in recent times. For breakfast options between freshly cooked rice served at the lounge or buffet-style dining—I eventually chose buffet after much deliberation. Being conveniently accessible via JR from Osaka Station makes me look forward eagerly toward another Hotel stay here soon! Amenities were available upon request at their lounge; bamboo toothbrushes & hairbrushes came packaged inside recycled paper boxes—though eco-friendliness seemed debatable—it felt acceptable since they wouldn’t be discarded immediately anyway! A smaller-sized body towel addition would’ve been appreciated too!

    First-Time Club Floor Accommodation

    I stayed at Biwako Hotel for the first time in a while. It was my first time using the Club Lounge, and I enjoyed alcohol from the morning. The Japanese breakfast at the Club Lounge featured local ingredients and was delicious! Club Lounge Hors d'oeuvres: 17:00–20:00, but please provide them in a way that keeps them warm. They cooled down quickly, which was very disappointing. On Christmas Eve night, I enjoyed fireworks, which became a wonderful memory. I will stay again next Christmas!

    I had a relaxing time, but...

    I have stayed here many times, and the service from the staff is always excellent and highly satisfying. This time, being Christmas Day, there was a mini concert with flute and piano, which made for a very delightful experience. However, there were some disappointing points. When I arrived late for cocktail time at the club lounge, the warm dishes were not kept heated and had gone cold. The breakfast menu focused on ingredients from Shiga Prefecture but lacked any egg dishes, leaving it feeling somewhat incomplete. As for the room facilities, there is still no smart TV available, and during shower use, the water temperature fluctuated between cold water and hot water unpredictably, making it difficult to relax. I hope these issues will be addressed promptly.

    Great view of Lake Biwa and excellent club floor services.

    This was my first visit to Lake Biwa, and since I wasn't familiar with the area, I chose this place as it seemed to be the best option in the Otsu area. This time, I had access to the club lounge and enjoyed sweets upon arrival and appetizers in the evening (I may have indulged a bit too much, which affected my dinner...). The view from the room was spectacular, offering a panoramic view of Lake Biwa. I also enjoyed relaxing in the Onsen at the large public bath, making it a very satisfying stay. This time, I explored the eastern side of Lake Biwa from Otsu; next time, I'd like to revisit and enjoy exploring its western side.

    Celebrate your birthday in the lounge.

    It was my first stay, but the club floor was reasonably priced and the presentation was excellent. The onsen was also satisfying. The staff's service was great, making it a wonderful birthday celebration trip. My spouse and I are already talking about visiting again after the New Year.
