    A wonderful Hotel you'll want to visit again

    I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the staff who assisted us at check-in, as well as everyone who supported us throughout our stay. As we were staying to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary, we were especially touched by your warm and attentive words. We also felt your thoughtful care in many ways, which allowed us to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay with peace of mind. Every member of staff provided outstanding service—it was difficult to single out any one person in particular. Thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts.

    I visited again this...

    I visited again this January. The staff’s warm smiles were truly soothing. Thank you very much. Your hospitality was outstanding. Spending time in the lounge was also very relaxing. Tea time, hors d’oeuvres, and the nightcap—everything was wonderfully fulfilling. That evening, fireworks happened to go off around 7:30 p.m., and we were able to watch them leisurely from the lounge; my elderly mother was especially delighted. Breakfast was also absolutely delicious. Having rice porridge in the morning really lifts the spirits for middle-aged and older guests. My mother also enjoyed the smoothies. Of course, both the Room and the location were deeply relaxing as well. The only disappointment for my mother was the Italian dinner buffet. We would appreciate it if you could add some Japanese-style menu items too.

    Girls’ Trip

    Three friends and I stayed here. After having a wonderful stay last Christmas with my husband on the Club Lounge Plan, we decided to return. The lounge offers a wide variety of drinks, and being able to enjoy them at any time was fantastic. Breakfast in the lounge was also a luxurious experience, with individually served dishes made with ingredients from Shiga Prefecture, plus a counter buffet offering rice porridge and many toppings. The light snacks during tea time and cocktail time were also delicious—my friends couldn’t stop saying so. There weren’t any hot dishes, so if those were added, it would be absolutely perfect. Please consider it! We will definitely stay again with lounge access next time as well.

    For a pilgrimage in Kyoto.

    The weather was great, so we had a beautiful view of Lake Biwa. The Room, Onsen, and service were all excellent. We will definitely return.

    Perhaps because it is a long-established, well-known Hotel, I often felt the staff were relying on the Hotel’s name. At the front desk, toothbrushes and hairbrushes are provided only upon request and handed to you, but they were given to me curtly. In the shop as well, there was no greeting when I entered; the staff kept chatting with each other behind the register. At the restaurant too, they guided and served guests without a smile. I had never experienced this at other Hotels in this class, so I was truly surprised. What shocked me most was that loungewear is differentiated by floor. When I asked, “Could I have samue instead of a yukata?”, I was told, “Only if you wear it inside your Room.” I don’t understand why guests need to be distinguished by which floor they are on within the Hotel. It made me very uncomfortable, so I went to the public bath in my own clothes. I had always wanted to stay at this Hotel, but it was extremely disappointing.

    Your First Visit to Lake Biwa

    This was my first trip to Lake Biwa, and after checking Reviews I chose this Accommodation. The building itself isn’t new, but the Room we stayed in was spacious and had a panoramic view of Lake Biwa. We were able to relax and feel very comfortable throughout our stay. The Onsen was smaller than I expected, and there wasn’t much variety in the baths, which was a bit disappointing. (But the view was great!) As for dining, the Italian dinner buffet offered a wide selection and everything was delicious. (The freshly baked pizza was especially good!) Breakfast was very crowded so we couldn’t get the seats we wanted, but dishes like Omi beef rice bowls were tasty. Overall, we were satisfied.

    The Essence of Japanese Cuisine

    At this Hotel, I always enjoy Japanese cuisine, and it never disappoints—everything from the freshness of the ingredients to the delicate seasoning and beautiful presentation is consistently satisfying. I don’t drink alcohol, but the berry juice I ordered was a lovely pink color and made the meal even more enjoyable. I’d love to visit again. Thank you very much.

    We were very satisfied.

    I booked a dinner-included Plan so I could relax and enjoy my beloved Lake Biwa on my own. The IKYU perk drink was proper Champagne, which I enjoyed at leisure. The location was truly wonderful, and I was able to dine in a very relaxed atmosphere. The bath was great as well. Breakfast after a run along the lakeshore was outstanding, and it became a truly memorable stay!

    We had a relaxing stay.

    It was the best season for cherry blossom viewing, so we stayed at this Hotel again, which our family has used several times before. It has convenient access to Daigo-ji Temple, and it was much calmer than the crowded Kyoto packed with inbound tourists, which we really appreciated. We were also grateful for the high-end amenities included as a Diamond benefit. Next time, I’d like to take it easy in the lounge and enjoy Lake Biwa.

    Cherry Blossom Viewing Trip

    It was my first time visiting Lake Biwa. The Hotel’s access, the view from the Room, the service, and the meals were all excellent. Unfortunately, it rained on the first day, so we checked in early and enjoyed the club lounge and the Onsen. Access to Mii-dera Temple and Mount Hiei was also convenient, and the illuminated Mii-dera Temple during cherry blossom season, along with the scenery of the Lake Biwa Canal, was truly exceptional. This is a Hotel I would definitely like to stay at again.

    I’ve stayed at many ...

    I’ve stayed at many Hotels with club lounges, but overall this lounge was my favorite in terms of offerings and atmosphere. With several staff members always on hand, it’s easy to request craft beer or cocktails served by the staff rather than self-service. The chef also comes by often to replenish the dishes. The funazushi dressing was especially delicious—I ended up going back for salad again and again. Breakfast is also available in the lounge, where I enjoyed Shiga’s local specialties. It was my first time staying in Otsu, but it’s close to Kyoto and feels like a hidden gem. I’d love to stay at Biwako Hotel again. Thank you very much.

    I was concerned abou...

    I was concerned about the red lamp on the corridor guidance light (indicating it’s time to replace the lamp). I wanted a convenience-store-like shop, not just a small store. It was inconvenient that the Room lighting switches are not linked to the room key card. (There may be cases where you leave with the lights still on.) It was good that the neighboring Michigan Cruise became cheaper. I had a late lunch at the in-house restaurant, Teppanyaki Omi, and it was delicious with a calm atmosphere. At breakfast, there are no tray-like items, so you have to make more trips to pick up food. The service was good.

    We stayed at our mem...

    We stayed at our memorable Lake Biwa Hotel again after a long time. As it was a special anniversary, three generations of our family stayed in a room with lounge access. We were able to relax from check-in, and our elderly parents were very happy. The boarding pier for the Lake Biwa cruise “Michigan” is also nearby, so we were able to enjoy Otsu.

    Overall, it was wonderful. I just wished I could have enjoyed the bath more comfortably. There were no available washing stations, and the bathtub was full, which was disappointing.

    The meals were delicious.

    We were very satisfied with the service, meals, and baths. If I had to mention one thing, it would be much more convenient if yukata were allowed for the Japanese-style dinner. Alternatively, offering a slightly more formal samue outfit that guests can dine in could be a good option. It was a bit of a hassle to take an Onsen bath and then change clothes each time. These days, even upscale auberges sometimes allow French dining in yukata, so an Onsen Hotel could do the same. Being able to go bath → meal → bath without changing would increase satisfaction.

    Although I travel to...

    Although I travel to many places every year, the view at Biwako Hotel was wonderful. The lake water was beautiful, the Room on the 12th floor was spacious, and the Onsen on the 4th floor was great. The young staff and the housekeeping staff were also very sincere and professional, which I really appreciated. However, the LONGINES snacks and light meals had very limited variety and were replenished slowly. Honestly, it felt like cost-cutting, and I didn’t see the point of using LONGINES. This was disappointing. Even though I stayed for two nights, the snacks provided were exactly the same each day.

    We traveled to Kyoto and Shiga to celebrate a birthday. It was our first stay at Biwako Hotel, and the staff’s service was excellent. The view was wonderful and very relaxing, especially at sunrise, which was truly moving. Breakfast was tasty, but I hope it can be improved a little more.

    The staff’s thoughtful hospitality is truly comforting.

    Whenever I visit Otsu, I always choose to stay here. This time, three generations of our family stayed together, and from check-in onward we truly appreciated the staff’s warm greetings and thorough explanations. We also enjoyed a wonderful stay thanks to the clean Room and the large public bath. For our wedding anniversary in October, we always relax in the club lounge. We look forward to staying with you again this year.

    The best Accommodation near Biwa Lake Park

    This is an Accommodation where I can relax and always look forward to staying—truly nothing to complain about. I stayed here after attending an opera at Biwako Hall. The Room is bright, spacious, and comfortably designed; every Room has a lake view, there is a large Onsen bath, and the locally sourced breakfast buffet is something I enjoy every time.

    I was able to relax in the club lounge.

    The club lounge was very relaxing. I used it during each time slot, and the breakfast was even better than expected. I was satisfied with the other time slots as well, but if I had to say, it would have been even better with a bit more variety in the food during hors d’oeuvres time. The service was generally good, and the person who provided various guidance at check-in in particular was excellent. The only reason I deducted a few points was that it was disappointing that some staff members were extremely unfriendly. In any case, the club lounge met my expectations, so I would like to visit again if I have the opportunity. Thank you for your hospitality.

    Enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Biwa.

    I arrived at the Hotel on the night of my Reservation in the rain. It was pitch-dark and I couldn’t see any scenery, but the view the next morning was stunning and woke me up instantly. If you want to fully enjoy the views of Lake Biwa, I recommend a corner Room. I also arrived without being able to stop by a convenience store or anywhere else the night before, so it was a big help that there were two complimentary bottles of water and drip coffee in the Room. Breakfast was buffet-style with both Japanese and Western options, and they were able to accommodate allergies. If I had one request, I would have liked to see a few more local Shiga specialties. Next time, I’d love to visit again with a schedule that allows for a more relaxed stay.

    An Elegant Moment

    I used the club lounge again after a long time. The drink service and the way to order light snacks had changed to a buffet style, which was great. Before, it was a hassle to order from my phone. I loved being able to enjoy it freely—having a drink or a bite whenever I wanted, chatting, and taking in the view. I really like staying with club lounge access and would love to use it again.     The Best Resort Hotel

    I recently stayed here during my vacation. This was not my first visit, and it is always relaxing. There is an Onsen, and both breakfast and dinner are excellent. The Room is spacious, the location is outstanding, and there is nothing to fault—this is truly a Japanese Resort Hotel. I would love to make time to stay again.

    A Cozy Hotel

    Despite arriving close to 11:00 PM on the day of my stay, I received a courteous check-in. In addition, when I requested extra hangers for the Room, they were provided promptly, which I truly appreciated. I couldn’t use the large public bath at night due to my late arrival, but I was able to relax 충분ly in the in-room bath.

    Your First Stay in Shiga

    This was my first stay in Shiga Prefecture, and I chose this Hotel. Notes below: - We were welcomed by beautiful Hina dolls—thoughtful touches you’d expect from a long-established Hotel. - The scent around the front desk area was quite distinctive. Unfortunately, it was a fragrance I dislike (similar to men’s hair styling products), which made me uncomfortable. - Every staff member was polite and courteous. - I chose the Room based on the bed’s orientation, and as expected it felt open and spacious—wonderful. - I understand the importance of SDGs, but using something like thick kitchen paper as a coaster for the glass at the sink honestly made me wryly smile. - I used the large public bath, and everyone else was wearing samue while I alone wore a yukata. Many Accommodations provide both options, so I wondered if it had been overlooked. When I asked the front desk, they said it depends on the Room type. I ended up feeling out of place being dressed differently from everyone else, and to be honest that prevented me from enjoying myself wholeheartedly. I had thought this would be one of Shiga’s signature Hotels, so it’s hard to deny my disappointment.

    We were fortunate to have our Room upgraded. The Room was really nice. The front desk staff were very kind. The Onsen only had an indoor public bath. Everything was great. The only drawback was that there was no coin laundry.

    Staying at Biwako Hotel on my wife’s birthday was absolutely the right choice. After the Accommodation in Kyoto Umekoji the night before, the resort-like atmosphere and the refined service of this long-established Hotel made for a truly warm and memorable stay, perfect for a special occasion. We are also deeply grateful for your flawless allergy accommodations. The message card添えられた with the lovely flowers meant more to us than anything.

    Club Lounge Access

    This was our second stay. My spouse and I had a wonderful time, spending blissful hours chatting over drinks. However, we were disappointed that the food served during cocktail time in the lounge was almost the same as last time (in December). We had expected some variation depending on the month or day of the week.

    I question whether we should promote eco-friendly practices at the expense of guest convenience.

    The Hotel was very clean, and the Olympic decorations in front of the reception desk were lovely. However, although I understood that some amenities are not provided for eco reasons (such as brushes), there were also no cleansing products or toner in the room, and there were no shower caps in the large public bath. Even considering sustainability, this goes too far and feels below a Business Hotel standard. It diminishes the prestige of the historic Biwako Hotel. Please reconsider. At breakfast, although the morning sun must be an everyday issue, the blinds were not lowered until a guest pointed it out. At dinner at the teppanyaki restaurant, the food was delicious, but sometimes the chef did not greet us at all at the end, and even basic course timing was inconsistent. The next hot dish was brought out while more than half of the previous dish was still left. After finishing our meal, we waited briefly to speak to someone, but there was no staff on the floor. With only a small number of seats and most guests having nearly identical courses, I believe pacing could be managed more in line with each guest’s progress. I chose Shiga as my destination mainly to stay at this Hotel, so I am very disappointed.
