    This trip was also to celebrate my three friends’ 77th birthdays. We mentioned this to the staff at check-in. At dinner, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a special celebration plate for the occasion, and we were truly touched. We’re grateful that all three of us were able to make such wonderful memories. Thank you very much.

    A cozy club lounge filled with the chef’s homemade creations

    Relaxing in the Club Lounge—enjoying drinks and food—and from 19:30, we were soothed by the lakeside fountain show. When I looked curious about items I was seeing for the first time, the chef noticed right away and kindly explained everything in detail. We had breakfast twice: once in the Club Lounge and once at the buffet restaurant. In the Club Lounge, we were impressed by the menu that truly highlighted locally sourced ingredients; at the buffet, we were impressed by how smoothly the staff worked together to clear empty plates in no time. If possible, I’d like to suggest: 1) Selling in the gift shop some of the alcoholic beverages served in the Club Lounge 2) Installing a swimsuit spin dryer next to each floor’s vending machines (currently only one unit in/near the women’s changing room by the pool?)

    This Hotel offers great views.

    The renovated Room was clean and easy to use. The bathroom was also thoroughly cleaned, and taking a bath in the morning while looking out over Lake Biwa was wonderful.

    A Hotel Where Your Stay Time Heals You

    This is a wonderful Hotel where you can enjoy a stunning Lake Biwa view right in front of you, and I’ve stayed here several times. The Club Lounge stay, in particular, offers a truly one-of-a-kind experience unlike any other Hotel. Along with the unhurried pace of time, you can fully indulge in luxurious moments during tea time and cocktail time. The food selection is carefully prepared, and the alcohol offerings—including craft sake—are excellent. With spacious high-floor Rooms and soothing relaxation at the large Onsen bath, one night is simply not enough; it’s a place I’d love to enjoy slowly on a Multiple Night Stay someday. I will definitely return again in another season.

    I stayed on the Prem...

    I stayed on the Premier Luxury Floor Aqua. The Room was spacious and clean, which was great. The view of Lake Biwa from the window was also wonderful, but in terms of being seen by people near the pier, a nearby Hotel with higher guest room floors felt more reassuring. The lounge was easy to use, and I used it several times. I had dinner at Oumi, and it was very delicious. It was a wonderful Hotel with attentive staff.

    This is a Resort Hotel.

    I was looking for a base for exploring Shiga, and made a Reservation because it’s conveniently close to the departure point for the day-cruise sightseeing boat and offers a Shuttle Service from Otsu Station. It was absolutely the right choice. The view of Lake Biwa from the Room is magnificent! Dinner was an Italian buffet at Bellrago. After checking the website beforehand, I honestly worried there might not be many options, but that turned out to be unnecessary (lol). In reality, it felt less like a typical buffet and more like a stylish, elegant lakeside Italian restaurant where you can enjoy as much as you like—appetizers, main dishes, focaccia, and soft drinks—almost like ordering à la carte. Everything was excellent, and fresh small portions were replenished one after another, so you can dine with peace of mind. Personally, I loved the acqua pazza, corn soup, and roast pork. Breakfast had even more local ingredients. If you’re expecting a full Japanese set meal (it’s basically just white rice on that front), it might not be for everyone. There weren’t any ultra-luxury ingredients either—but instead, every dish was carefully prepared in detail, and I stayed excited from start to finish. In the large public bath washing area there were makeup remover and DHC shampoo/conditioner amenities. There’s also a small open-air bath that was very relaxing. Thank you!

    Lake Biwa View

    I have stayed here every year for about the past 15 years without fail. The beautiful views of Lake Biwa and Mt. Hiei, the sightseeing boats passing by, and the fountain show—one of the reasons I choose this Hotel is this scenery. The Room is clean and spacious enough, and I love the view of Lake Biwa from the Room, so I make sure to stay here every year. While I always feel the service is somehow a little lacking, I still have high hopes when I see the younger staff working hard, and it’s a stay that lifts my spirits with a delicious breakfast and beautiful scenery. 　 I understand it’s part of today’s trend, but while I think it’s right to avoid providing toothbrushes for brushing teeth and plastic amenities in consideration of the SDGs, completely eliminating plastic amenities at a Hotel in this class feels strongly like cost-cutting, which is slightly disappointing. It seems reusable toothbrushes are sold at reception, but it may be best to bring your own toothbrush. The Onsen Facility shows crowding status so you can check it at any time, but depending on the hour it can remain crowded for quite a while. I would be happy if it could be enjoyed in a calmer atmosphere. Overall, it was a good stay. Thank you very much.

    Upgrade to a tatami Room

    They upgraded us to a better Room than the one we had reserved, and they also thanked us for staying with them last year. There is also a large public bath, so we were very satisfied. It’s close to the station, and we would like to stay again.

    I was able to relax and unwind in the lounge.

    I stayed here for the first time because the Club Lounge has a great reputation. Unfortunately, it was a rainy weekend and not ideal for going out, but I was able to relax in the lounge. It wasn’t crowded and had a quiet, calm atmosphere, which is probably why it’s so well regarded. There is also a large Onsen bath, so I was able to refresh properly even on a weekend with bad weather. Thank you very much.

    It was a pleasant stay.

    I stayed here for the first time to take the Michigan Cruise. From using the shuttle bus from Otsu Station through check-in, during my stay, and up to check-out, all of the staff were consistently pleasant and I was very satisfied. What impressed me most was the professionalism of the experienced staff. Their attentive care and efficient manner were outstanding, and they also provided thorough guidance and support to younger staff members. It really showed that high-quality service is delivered throughout the Hotel. I was able to spend a comfortable time with peace of mind. I would definitely like to stay again if I have another opportunity.

    The bath was great!

    The Room was spacious, which was great. Lake Biwa was also beautiful. The coffee packs in the Room were delicious! Breakfast was tasty, and the staff were efficient and helpful. However, when I asked at the front desk about the Keihan Kotokoto Ticket, it didn’t seem to be well understood, which was disappointing. One of the international staff members spoke very loudly, which felt a bit overwhelming.

    Thank you for the Club Floor.

    We enjoyed delicious local craft beer right after arriving. The welcome tea was also very mellow and fragrant, and the hospitality throughout our stay—tailored to the time of day—was exceptional and truly relaxing. The Room was clean, with a wonderful view of Lake Biwa, and soaking in the Onsen in the large public bath helped melt away our everyday fatigue. The meals were delicious as well, made with plenty of local ingredients. We would love to visit again.

    Thank you for your hospitality. I really like Vista and stay regularly, and I will visit again in September. If I may mention one thing regarding lounge access: I do not drink alcohol, so it is not a problem for me even if I do not use the lounge. However, this creates a difference between guests who drink and those who do not. I think it would be reasonable to separate the fee depending on whether guests use the lounge or not. It feels unfair that non-drinkers have to cover the cost for drinkers as well—I feel this every time.

    It was the best stay.

    I stayed on the Deluxe Floor (40 sqm). The Room was spacious, the sofa was very comfortable, and I was able to relax and enjoy a pleasant stay. With yellow as the main color theme, the guest Room felt bright and luxurious, giving me a wonderful escape from everyday life. Located on the 10th floor, it offered great views of Lake Biwa and the Hira mountain range—it was so wonderful that I didn’t want to leave the Room. Thanks to that, I also appreciated being able to do a digital detox. In the evening, I had a kaiseki meal at Japanese restaurant Omi; it made great use of seasonal ingredients, and the beautifully presented tableware made it enjoyable for both taste and sight. After checkout, I had tea at Cafe Bell Lago; with its calm atmosphere, I could fully immerse myself in reading. I was also grateful that the staff thoughtfully offered refills of tea without being intrusive. I truly enjoyed a very comfortable Hotel stay. Next time, I would like to stay on the higher-grade Premier Luxury Floor Aqua and use the club lounge.

    We’d love to visit again!

    It was my first stay, but they upgraded me, and the view from the top-floor Room was amazing! At night, I got to see a beautiful fountain show from the lake (apparently it’s held regularly!), and I was also lucky enough to catch some fireworks that go off occasionally—absolutely thrilled. The Room was spacious and very clean—nothing to complain about. All of the staff were friendly and wonderful as well. I love the Lake Biwa waterfront, so I’d definitely like to stay here again.

    Very satisfied

    This was my third visit to Shiga Prefecture, the first in over ten years, and my first stay at your Hotel. The view from our Lake Biwa-view Room was wonderful, and since the lake was right in front of us, it was great to be able to take an easy walk around the area. We booked a Multiple Night Stay and included dinner at “Omi” on both nights. Thank you for promptly responding to our request to change the menu—each meal looked beautiful and truly reflected Shiga’s local flavors. We also enjoyed dining in a calm atmosphere. We arrived by car, but we also wanted to get around on foot, so we tried taking the train as well. Biwako-Hamaotsu Station was close by, which was very convenient. It was helpful that we could check crowding information for the large public bath via QR code; however, even though it showed only slightly crowded, it felt smaller than expected and all the washing stations were occupied, so we had to wait a bit. It seemed there were many female guests, so I suppose that can’t be helped. Overall, we were very satisfied and would love to stay again.

    The lake’s surface at dusk

    At the Club Lounge, we had a wonderful time watching dusk settle over the eastern shore of Lake Biwa. In the morning, we enjoyed breakfast while soaking in the clear sunlight reflected on the lake’s surface, savoring both steamed rice and rice porridge. It was a lovely Hotel where you can truly enjoy Lake Biwa itself.

    A breathtaking sunrise rising over the lake, paired with exceptional hospitality

    We checked in at the club lounge and enjoyed light snacks and sweets there right away. In the evening, light dishes were served, and Louis Roederer champagne was available with unlimited refills. The strawberry, tomato, apple, and beet smoothie at breakfast was excellent. The Onsen had no strong odor and felt smooth on the skin, with well-managed temperatures that were just right. Since our Room was on the same floor and very close by, it was easy to access and convenient. The Room amenities were more than sufficient: a separate shower booth and toilet, USB outlets and chargers, Shigaraki ware as well as tea utensils from local Otsu kilns, a capsule coffee machine, a CD player, and more. Early in the morning, the sunrise rising over the lake surface, the sky turning red, and the “path of sunlight” across the water were breathtaking. A morning walk along the lakeside also felt wonderful—truly perfect.

    Flower Fountain

    The fountain illumination at night was beautiful. The bath area was crowded, but it was very well cleaned. The club lounge was also relaxing, and I enjoyed browsing the selection of books. For breakfast I chose the Japanese set, and the miso soup was truly delicious. The egg dish was soft-shelled turtle chawanmushi; since I prefer a simple boiled egg, I thought it would be nice to have a couple of options to choose from. Also, the young male bell staff member who helped with our luggage at both arrival and checkout was very efficient and pleasant. I wish I had asked his name so I could mention him here. Thank you very much for your hospitality—I hope someone who reads this will recognize him for his excellent service.

    A Hotel with outstanding satisfaction in views, Facilities, and hospitality

    I stayed at Biwako Hotel on a breakfast-included Plan. First of all, the staff’s hospitality and warm, smiling service were excellent, and I felt very comfortable throughout my stay. The Room was extremely comfortable, and the view of Lake Biwa was wonderful. With a desk, chairs, and a sofa, it was a relaxing space to spend time in. The washbasin area was also easy to use, and overall I was highly satisfied. The large public bath was also comfortable, and it was convenient that I didn’t need to bring towels. I also personally appreciated that drip coffee and mugs were provided in the Room. Parking was easy to use with no issues, and there was a 200V EV charger near the Hotel entrance that I could use free of charge—something I truly appreciated as an EV user. Breakfast wasn’t bad, but the selection felt fairly standard overall. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay and would like to visit again.

    This Hotel offers outstanding hospitality!

    We stayed one night on the Club Floor for a family trip to treat our two mothers, both in their late 70s. Because of their age, we kept sightseeing in Shiga brief and made this a Hotel-centered stay. We arrived before 3:00 pm, and during our long stay until the 11:30 am checkout, we enjoyed the Club Floor snacks, sweets, and hors d’oeuvres that changed several times. The seating was well spaced from neighboring tables, the sofas were spacious, and it was a wonderful space to relax with our favorite drinks while looking out over Lake Biwa. For the hors d’oeuvres time from 5:00 pm, I wished there had been a bit more variety and volume. A few items were also quite lightly seasoned. It would be nice to have more options that non-drinkers can enjoy as well. The mini burgers served at tea time might have been even more appreciated if offered after 5:00 pm. For breakfast, I definitely recommend the Japanese set on the Club Floor! The freshly cooked terraced-rice was glossy and outstanding. The grilled Biwa trout was also plump and delicious. The miso soup was great too—I wanted to buy Kuju miso at the shop inside the Hotel, but they said they don’t carry it anymore, which was disappointing… I imagine many guests feel the same way; I hope you will consider offering it. Ruri-no-Yu Onsen facilities were very new and clean. The water temperature was just right as well. It did feel like the horizontal lines on the glass made Lake Biwa a bit harder to see, but overall it was excellent! Overall, everything—from the lobby and guest room to the Onsen and Club Floor—was spotless, with nothing lacking at all; it was incredibly comfortable. On top of that, every member of staff had a wonderful smile and greeted us so pleasantly that every conversation felt warm and welcoming. Our whole family is happy we could spend such a relaxing time here. Thank you very much for taking care of us!

    The food is delicious.

    I chose the Plan with breakfast and dinner included. Both meals were buffet-style and very delicious. There is also a large public bath, and the interior seems to have been renovated, so it was clean. The staff were courteous, and I was very satisfied. I would like to stay here again.

    Prime Location

    Whenever I stay in Otsu, I always choose this Hotel. All rooms face Lake Biwa, and there is also an Onsen on the 4th floor, making it very relaxing. The best part is the view of Lake Biwa and the surrounding mountains. I would love to stay here again.

    A Trip to Lake Biwa

    We stayed on the 9th and 10th, right after Golden Week. The view from the Room was absolutely wonderful. If I had to mention one thing, I would like the quality of the Italian dinner buffet to be improved a little more. The spaghetti was delicious, but since Parmesan cheese is a matter of preference, I would have liked it served on the side.

    The Aqua Room is excellent.

    The exterior feels a bit retro, but I truly love Biwako Hotel. While traveling in search of wonderful Accommodation across The whole country, I’m someone who enjoys new experiences and lives by the motto of not staying at the same place twice—but for some reason, Biwako Hotel has a special pull, and it’s a rare Accommodation that I end up returning to. The view of Lake Biwa from the terrace—and the breeze—are absolutely wonderful. On the night of my stay, someone was playing a saxophone (?) in the park, which made it an even more memorable visit. This time, I stayed in an Aqua Room for the first time in a while, and both the atmosphere and service were excellent. I also really appreciated—and thoroughly enjoyed—the club lounge offerings that change throughout the day. For dinner this time, I chose Japanese cuisine for the first time, and my satisfaction was even higher. I often have Japanese cuisine at various Accommodations, but with “Oumi,” I felt as if each dish was thoughtfully crafted to bring out the natural flavors of every ingredient—almost like you could sense the heart of the head chef and team. Maybe it’s just me... When having a Japanese dinner at an Onsen destination, it would be nice to be able to go in yukata or loungewear. With regular clothes, it’s harder to feel that special escape from everyday life. And if there were partitions creating semi-private seating areas, that would be ideal—though maybe that’s just me.
