Although it is a buffet, there are too few staff members.
As it was a buffet at a large-scale hotel, I expected some level of disorganization, but there were no staff in sight to take drink orders. Even when I tried to call out while getting food, I was told they were too busy to assist. Additionally, during breakfast, even though we were given "Dining in Progress" cards for our table, many tables with these cards remained uncleared and appeared vacant. As a result, when we placed the card on our table and went to get food, an elderly couple who didn’t understand the meaning of the card placed their belongings on our table, leading to an unpleasant exchange. If this is the situation during off-peak weekdays in June, I can’t imagine how chaotic it would be during peak season. The facilities are good overall; however, unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll stay here again.

Cost-effective Ryokan
We visited as a four-generation family. This Ryokan satisfies both elderly guests with mobility issues and small children. With breakfast, dinner, and a private open-air bath in the room, it offers great value for the price. The facility is barrier-free and includes a kids' room for children to enjoy. We would love to visit again if we have the chance.

An Exceptional Experience Beyond Expectations with Room for Improvement
■Hotel Stay Review Overall, this stay was highly satisfying. The exceptional cost performance is particularly noteworthy. ■Room & Amenities: Cleanliness is excellent, but facilities need improvement The room was impeccably clean, with no dust even under the bed, which was impressive. However, the lack of a razor in the room was slightly disappointing. ■Service: Front desk needs improvement The staff at the dining area and cleaning team were very friendly and warm, making for a pleasant experience. On the other hand, improvements are needed at the front desk. The checkout process was extremely slow, resulting in long queues that should be addressed by implementing an efficient system. Additionally, services such as car relocation or luggage assistance during check-in would enhance comfort during stays. ■Onsen & Bath: Stunning views but some challenges with convenience and private baths The highlight of "Keiryu no Yu" onsen offered spaciousness with sunlight streaming in during the day and breathtaking starry skies at night—an incredibly satisfying experience overall. However, its operating hours until 11 PM felt somewhat early, and its distant location made access inconvenient; structural improvements like adding outdoor stairs could help address this issue. Furthermore, while we paid 3,000 yen for a private bath rental expecting more space or luxury features than provided—it fell short of expectations unfortunately. ■Facility: Excellent kids' park but urgent need for barrier-free access The kids' park is well-equipped and ideal for families with children; however lack of ramps near reception makes movement difficult especially using strollers/wheelchairs posing significant accessibility concerns requiring immediate attention towards becoming universally user-friendly spaces accommodating everyone equally. ■Dining Experience : Exceptional soft-serve ice cream alongside diverse menu options Despite not being fond typically indulging sweets myself—the soft-serve ice cream served here stood out remarkably delicious enough tempting repeated servings! Grilled beef dishes paired perfectly complemented extensive wine selections ensuring thoroughly enjoyable meals throughout stay! ## Summary While there are areas needing improvement overall value-for-money remains outstanding delivering fulfilling memorable experiences leaving anticipation eagerly awaiting future enhancements ahead!

Disappointed as we had high expectations for the buffet.
If the food were better, it would be a good hotel. 【Positive Points】 - The open-air bath is nice. - Great location (surrounded by nature). - Shuttle service to Chino Station. - Close to Tokyo. 【Negative Points】 - The buffet is generally not tasty. * Went with high expectations due to reviews but found it to be an ordinary, unremarkable buffet (not particularly worse than others, just average). * For those who usually enjoy buffets: if you expect this one to be special, you might feel disappointed. * Stayed for two nights and had the buffet for both breakfast and dinner—it was unpleasantly repetitive. - Poor customer service: * Requested in advance for two beds to be joined together with bed guards installed for child safety, but this was not done upon arrival. * When pouring water into a glass at the buffet for my child, green-tinted water came out (likely from residual melon soda). Asked if clean water was available and was told "it will clear up after running it for a while." When I clarified by asking "so there's no clean water?" they reluctantly replied "I'll bring some" in an annoyed tone. * Tried switching the second night's dinner from the buffet to a kaiseki meal at an additional cost but was denied (understandable). However, when I asked another staff member later on with slight hope, they said they'd pass it on during their morning shift after taking my room number—but no follow-up ever came through.

It was a great stay.
During my previous stay, I mentioned the strong fragrance in the front area and the overpowering cologne of a male staff member. This time, there was no strong fragrance in the front area, allowing me to approach and complete my check-in smoothly. Additionally, none of the staff had an overwhelming scent of cologne, and I deeply appreciate this consideration. The Onsen, meals, and room were all comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you very much!

I felt relaxed.
Arriving before the check-in time, I was able to complete the check-in process and wait in the lobby for a short while until my room was ready, allowing me to enter earlier than expected. This flexible service left a very positive impression. I stayed in a riverfront room with an open-air Onsen bath. The room was clean, spacious, and well-designed with convenient access from the sink and shower booth to the open-air bath. I enjoyed soaking in the Onsen multiple times while listening to the sound of the stream. Due to the building's age, some noise and voices from adjacent rooms were slightly noticeable; however, there were no disturbances during sleeping hours as other guests seemed considerate at night. Since my room had its own Onsen bath, I didn’t use the Hotel’s Onsen facilities this time but would like to try them on my next visit. As for meals, I found that both breakfast and dinner buffets offered a wide selection of delicious options such as fresh seafood and Shinshu beef. However, one downside was breakfast—during my 2-night stay, it became very crowded in the morning on both days. In fact, on my second morning, I decided not to use it due to how busy it was. Perhaps implementing time slots like those used for dinner could help alleviate congestion? Despite this minor issue with breakfast service being a drawback for me personally, overall I had an incredibly relaxing stay filled with wonderful experiences. Thank you!

Suitable for families with young children
I am a returning guest since last summer. Last time, my room was located far from the main bath, so this time I stayed in the main building. The refrigerator is divided into a fridge and freezer, which is convenient for freezing many items during summer. The room has been renovated and is clean. The meals, which were a major reason for my repeat visit, were delicious again this time. Despite the cold weather, the parking staff and foreign staff members always greeted us warmly when passing by, leaving a very positive impression. However, many guests had children under 10 years old who ran around noisily in the buffet area and lobby. In our accommodation room as well, children next door screamed loudly while running around and banging on walls with their hands—making it far from relaxing or peaceful, which was disappointing. Another point of concern was regarding alcohol during meals; previously there were both all-you-can-drink options and à la carte menus available on each table. This time there was no menu at all on our table—only an all-you-can-drink notice in the venue itself. It seems some tables had menus while others did not; I only wanted a small amount of alcohol but found this situation slightly disappointing as well.

Perfect for families with children
We chose to stay here because it has a play area, which was perfect for our 2-year-old. The play area was excellent for families with children and we used it multiple times. Since our child wears diapers, we used the bathroom in the room. It wasn’t exceptionally clean, but it was sufficient for bathing with a child. A step stool in the sink area would have been helpful for kids. Each room had a diaper disposal bin, which was very convenient. Breakfast and dinner were buffet-style at the restaurant. While not extraordinarily delicious, there were plenty of options that children love, and our child was very satisfied. The curry, omelets, beef tendon stew, and roast beef were particularly tasty!

Repeat for the 3rd time
This is my third stay. I heard that the accommodation was renovated a few years ago, but there didn’t seem to be any major changes to the rooms or facilities. However, I don’t think the open-air bath and garden bath were on a gender rotation system during my last visit, so being able to enjoy both this time was very satisfying. The buffet meals still have great variety as always, and I felt they tasted even better than before. I'm looking forward to visiting again!

Very satisfied. Would love to visit again.
We stayed here during my wife's 70th birthday month as a way to show gratitude and enjoy a relaxing getaway. Although it was a rainy afternoon, the rain stopped by the time we arrived, and the reception staff provided excellent service, making for an exciting check-in experience. The Room was a new Western-style design, clean, and well-equipped. From the moment we entered, we were confident this stay would be enjoyable. The bath facilities included an open-air bath, indoor baths, and saunas—all complemented by the soothing sound of the nearby stream—allowing us to fully relax. Meals were served buffet-style with plenty of variety and delicious options that made it hard not to overeat! Although it was slightly early for cherry blossoms in this highland area, we loved the serene atmosphere of early spring. We are grateful to all Hotel staff who took care of us during our stay; this trip became a wonderful memory for both of us as a couple.

Overall
The accommodation seems to attract many group guests and families with children, making the facility noisy, which makes us hesitant to return. The buffet had a variety of dishes comparable to other accommodations, but there was a noticeable difference in quality. The dining area was crowded and noisy, leaving us feeling like we made the wrong choice of accommodation. The room's bath was the only highlight.

Great Value Family Trip
Great value for money. Ideal for stays with small children. The price is so reasonable that it feels almost too good to be true. The open-air bath was pleasant with the soothing sound of the river and a perfectly comfortable temperature. For children still in diapers, there is a baby bath available, which is very considerate compared to accommodations that do not allow such children in the baths. Both dinner and breakfast were busy but well-organized, with no delays or shortages, making for an enjoyable and lively dining experience. The staff were efficient and friendly, ensuring a comfortable stay throughout the day. Thank you very much!

Keep up the good work.
Stayed as an accompanying guest. The room was cheap but of poor quality. Was it worth the 50,000 yen per night? There were many excellent staff members, but also many terrible ones that overshadowed them. The meals were the worst—kept waiting and felt like being fed scraps. The attitude of the kitchen staff was bad; overall, it was terrible. Perhaps the staff were overwhelmed and stressed due to being too busy.

Fully booked.
We believe that prioritizing profit at the expense of guest comfort is not beneficial for long-term management. For a family stay with 2 adults and 2 children, the cost was approximately 80,000 yen. The value for money felt extremely poor.

What to say...
If conducting OJT, it seems appropriate for a veteran to guide the newcomer. How is it acceptable for reception staff to be unable to answer questions about the facility, the premises, or meals? Paying around 80,000 yen for two people and then being made to wait during meals—what's that about? While there are many very kind and excellent staff members, hiring individuals who don't even know how to speak politely and putting them in customer service roles—is that really okay? The only word that comes to mind is "wasteful." Management should take customer service more seriously.

Perfect for families
A large Hotel that incorporates the basics of a Ryokan. Equipped with nostalgic table tennis, arcade games, and a variety of large baths. The scenic river bath is truly impressive. The café on the lobby floor feels incomplete; perhaps moving the souvenir corner to the current café location and integrating café functions directly into the lobby would be better? Regarding Rooms, it would be reassuring to switch back to bottled water as it's unclear who or where the water was prepared. Please also ensure slippers are clearly marked as sanitized.

Hotel by Lake Tateshina
It was my first trip to Tateshina. The shuttle service took about 20 minutes to the hotel, and it is located in a very pleasant area. The facility is old but well-maintained. I stayed with two meals included, and the variety of dishes was amazing. I was completely satisfied, and the staff were excellent. I would love to stay again if I have the chance.

An accommodation in Tateshina renowned for its superb open-air Onsen by a mountain stream
Tateshina has many Onsen Accommodations, and I’ve stayed at various ones, but I felt this Accommodation is the best overall, starting with the open-air bath by the stream. The Onsen has as many as 21 baths, offering a wide range of ways to enjoy it. In particular, the new open-air bath by the stream overlooks the Takinoyu River below, and I was truly soothed by a luxurious time that blended refined elegance with nature. I stayed in a Sky Comfort Floor Western-style room (32 m²), and both the modern design and the view were wonderful. The buffet-style meals also offered a great variety and were delicious. The in-house Facilities are well equipped, including a lounge and a kids’ space. This time I used it for a business trip, but I think it’s also excellent for families—I found myself wishing I had come more when my children were younger.

It was a Hotel that made me want to visit again.

The kids' park, Onsen, and meals were excellent.
We stayed at the Property with the purpose of visiting the kids' park, as strongly requested by our two children. Although we were concerned about snowfall due to the season, there was little snow, and we were able to drive safely. We stayed in a Room on the Sky Comfort Floor. The Room was spacious, and the children were excitedly exploring it. The sofa was large enough for two adults to lie down comfortably. The kids' park was well-designed, with plenty of activities even for children who did not meet the height requirements. There were many spots where adults could sit and watch over the children, allowing us to relax. However, it was a bit disappointing that there was no staff intervention when some children were playing too enthusiastically, such as running in the wrong direction or staying in one spot without moving forward. That said, the materials used in the athletic area were not hard, so the risk of injury seemed low. The meals were excellent. The kids' corner offered a variety of child-friendly menu items, which made our children very happy. We were surprised to find that soft-serve ice cream was available both at night and in the morning for dessert. In the morning, the rice balls were delicious and came in a variety of flavors, with a convenient size that made them easy to enjoy. The Onsen, especially the open-air bath, was a big hit with the entire family. Although we got a bit lost on the way to the riverside open-air bath, it was nice to discover various enjoyable spots along the way. The staff's service was very prompt, and we appreciated how quickly they provided slippers and yukata jackets (hanten?) for the children. During meals, they also cleared the plates from the table as needed, which was very helpful. We had a wonderful time during our one-night, two-day stay as a family. We hope to stay again during the fishing season. Thank you very much!

Solo Winter Trip
I have used Taki no Yu multiple times as a day-use onsen or for stays. However, this is my first time staying alone. The room is for one person, so it's just like a semi-double in a business hotel. The view outside the window was immediately of the valley, which was nice. I was satisfied as the quality of the bath and buffet hadn't changed. Next time I come alone, I'm considering whether to stay in a slightly more expensive room.

It was a comfortable stay.
There were some slightly concerning reviews, but I had a good impression from other hotels by Mystays, so I decided to stay at Takinoyu this time. Upon arrival, the exterior indeed showed its age, but the interior was beautifully renovated. When we arrived, the check-in process was smooth. I was worried about the dinner time based on reviews, and since we arrived a bit late, I was a little disappointed that it started at 8 PM. However, the front desk staff kindly added, "There won't be anyone coming in after you, so I think you can enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace." Depending on how you take it, ideally, 7 PM would be perfect for me, but crowded buffets can be very stressful, so just that one comment changed my impression. In the meantime, we leisurely enjoyed the large public bath we were looking forward to. Although it wasn't a snowy landscape this time, the beautiful stream bath made me want to visit again in a different season. One thing, it would be even better if bath towels from the room could be provided in the bathroom. The meal was very delicious. Especially the teppanyaki beef and the accompanying wasabi were both very tasty! Our child, who loves fish, also enjoyed the fresh tuna and yellowtail sashimi. I was worried that the late hour might mean leftovers, but they generously served fresh items, allowing our family to enjoy a relaxed meal. The waiting time for breakfast was also properly explained during check-in, so when we went a little early around 7:30 AM, we were guided with only about a 5-minute wait, and there was no particular stress. (It may vary depending on the day, though.) During our stay, all the staff provided courteous service, and even the cleaning staff greeted us, making for a comfortable stay. If I have the opportunity, I would definitely like to stay again.

I wanted my children and parents to enjoy a snow-viewing bath, so we stayed. The view from the bath was amazing. The hotel was spacious, and the distance to the bath was challenging for my father, who has difficulty walking, and my small children. The buffet was easy to eat due to its small size, but I would have liked a bit more volume.
