This building once served as a "Honjin," a resting place for the Matsumoto feudal lord traveling to Edo during the Sankin-kotai system. Over 100 years, it has accumulated remnants from various eras, packed tightly within its walls. As we carefully uncovered these layers with the help of local residents, the essence and potential of this accommodation began to reveal themselves.The cultural figures who passed through here, and those who warmly welcomed them with heartfelt hospitality. An old hearth unexpectedly discovered when removing floorboards—when its fire is lit again after all these years, this Honjin will come alive once more. Perhaps this space has been waiting for someone all along. Saijo Onsen Tokura's hot spring source has been flowing along the Zenkoji Highway for over a thousand years and is known as the "Thousand-Year Bath." The spring quality is a simple sulfur spring, with the approximately 14-degree cold spring water heated for use. The slightly milky source water appears to change color depending on the day, earning it the name "Seven-Colored Bath." Additionally, the Onsen is rich in mineral components, making it effective for fatigue recovery, muscle pain, neuralgia, sensitivity to cold, gynecological issues, rheumatism, high blood pressure, and even cuts. Our Property welcomes guests from both within and outside the prefecture, and our dinner, featuring kaiseki cuisine made with seasonal local ingredients, is highly praised.
