This was my first stay here, and it felt far more fulfilling than you’d expect from just one night and two days. From the warm welcome on arrival, everything was handled with great care. The staff’s hospitality left a lasting impression, and throughout my stay they were attentive to even the smallest details. From start to finish—including the send-off at departure—I felt genuinely well looked after. Rather than feeling formal or scripted, it truly felt like each guest was treated as an individual. The Room had a calm, relaxing atmosphere, and best of all was the private open-air bath attached to the Room. Being able to soak in an Onsen at my own pace whenever I wanted was a special luxury, and it felt so good I wanted to go in again and again. Enjoying the open-air bath while taking in the garden and surrounding nature helped me forget everyday fatigue. The meals were also carefully prepared dish by dish—delicious not only in flavor, but also in presentation and seasonal touches. I enjoyed them so much that mealtime itself became one of the highlights of the trip. The overall atmosphere of the Ryokan is wonderful as well—quiet, serene, and naturally calming just by being there. Everything is beautifully maintained down to the smallest details, making it an ideal space for a true escape from daily life. Even though it was a short stay of one night and two days, by checkout I was surprised at how much lighter I felt both physically and mentally—I was able to fully recharge. This is a Ryokan that honestly makes you think, “I want to stay here again.” If you’re looking for Accommodation in Hakone, I highly recommend staying here at least once.

We visited this Accommodation for the first time in March after it received the strongest “Absolutely!” recommendation among several options, and it was the first time in a while that we felt completely satisfied in every respect. From the courteous and accurate communication during the Reservation process, to the atmosphere, use of space, staff professionalism, and cuisine—everything met our expectations. With an Accommodation of this caliber, I wasn’t particularly worried about the food, and I had already seen photos of the interior on the website so I assumed there would be no surprises. In the end, however, what matters most is “people.” With group stays, requests often cause inconvenience and there are usually one or two small oversights on the day—but here everything was perfect. This time we came as individuals. We returned both to confirm our impressions and to be moved all over again. The entrance—still fresh in my memory as a favorite—is spacious and quiet. It harmoniously blends cutting-edge design with traditional charm despite being complete opposites. Personally, it may be my favorite part. Our Room this time was more compact than last time but more than sufficient for one night. The open-air bath is also spacious and easy to use even though it has privacy screening. The private dining room felt almost too large for just two people. The timing of each course and the staff’s warm smiles made for a truly comfortable—and delicious—meal. Overall, what stayed with me is how rare this Facility is: an excellent balance of new and old, genuine warmth from people, and employees who approach their work with sincerity—all coming together in perfect harmony. Newer Accommodations with a full resort feel are wonderful in their own way as well; however, as an Onsen Accommodation, this is a place I can confidently recommend as a distinctly Japanese stay where timeless tradition is beautifully integrated. We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip. From the moment we arrived until the very end, we truly had a wonderful time. The Room was spacious and spotless, with thoughtful attention to every detail. It was so comfortable that we honestly wished we could stay there forever. Every single dish was outstanding, and the dining experience itself became a special memory. Because it was our anniversary, you even prepared a surprise dessert plate for us. We were deeply touched by your unexpected kindness. All of the staff were warm throughout our stay, full of attentive care and hospitality, and we found ourselves thinking again and again how glad we were to have chosen this place. The Room, the meals, the Onsen, and especially the staff’s thoughtfulness—everything was exceptional. We couldn’t be more satisfied with our stay. We have stayed at many Accommodations over the years, but this is without a doubt the best one we have ever experienced. We are truly glad we chose “Hakone Gen” for such an important anniversary. From the moment we boarded the elevator to the Ryokan from in front of Sounzan Station, it was an exciting experience. The Accommodation and all the staff welcomed us with a warm atmosphere, and everything—the Room, the carefully prepared meals, the Onsen, and the views—was wonderfully soothing. We were able to spend a slow, quiet, luxurious time. Thank you very much.

The building, Rooms, and all shared areas are stylish and spotless. The services and meals are excellent. There is nothing around the Hotel, so I was able to relax quietly in the in-room Onsen.

It was a truly wonderful Ryokan with a nostalgic, traditional atmosphere while still feeling very clean. I especially recommend the private open-air bath in the guest room—it was incredibly relaxing. We had both breakfast and dinner, and they were excellent in both taste and portion size. Also, even though it was last-minute, I asked on the day for a surprise plate for my wife, and they kindly arranged it for us. I don’t usually return to the same place when traveling, but this is somewhere I’d like to visit again next year. Highly recommended.
