The hot spring water of Kyoumachi Onsen is known as "Bijin no Yu" (Beauty Hot Spring) and contains one of the "Three Great Beauty Spring Qualities." It has cleansing and heat-retaining effects, making it gentle on the skin.We are particular about serving fresh cuisine, offering kaiseki dishes made with live fish. The charming old features have been carefully restored to reflect the original design, and in the Room with an irori (traditional Japanese hearth), you can look up to see the thatched roof attic, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Located between the World Heritage Site Hiraizumi and the fishing port town of Kesennuma, this area was once a small village that developed alongside the Kitakami River. Unlike typical tourist destinations, the surroundings are rich in nature, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. This building once served as a "Honjin," a resting place for the Matsumoto feudal lord traveling to Edo during the Sankin-kotai system. Over 100 years, it has accumulated remnants from various eras, packed tightly within its walls. As we carefully uncovered these layers with the help of local residents, the essence and potential of this accommodation began to reveal themselves.The cultural figures who passed through here, and those who warmly welcomed them with heartfelt hospitality. An old hearth unexpectedly discovered when removing floorboards—when its fire is lit again after all these years, this Honjin will come alive once more. Perhaps this space has been waiting for someone all along.
