Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto is located next to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, on a hillside in Kyoto’s Gion and Higashiyama area. This 52-room Hotel opened in August 2024. Surrounded by a bamboo grove and set within a sanctuary rich in nature, it features natural Onsen. While within walking distance of Gion’s major attractions, you can still enjoy a quiet stay away from the crowds. The architecture is design-supervised by Kengo Kuma, blending a Noh-inspired stage concept with traditional Japanese craftsmanship and a modern, natural aesthetic. With a variety of room types—including rooms with panoramic views over Kyoto and rooms with private natural Onsen—this Hotel offers a truly one-of-a-kind, unforgettable stay.
This was my first stay. The staff were exceptionally well trained, and their attention to detail was outstanding. We had dinner at Ryozen inside the Hotel; both the portion size and the taste were excellent. We also enjoyed many delicious wines.The amenities were great, and I would love to visit again soon.
