All rooms feature a terrace and a semi-open-air bath. A tranquil, adults-only auberge with sweeping waterfront views over the townscape of Hagi.

All 16 rooms feature a semi-open-air bath and terrace with stunning waterfront views. A serene Japanese auberge nestled along the riverside of Hagi Hakkei, where tranquility becomes an art. Experience the exquisite scenery woven by water and light, as the sky, river, clouds, wind, and sun create fleeting moments of natural beauty that gently soothe your soul. Among Hagi Hakkei’s breathtaking landscapes is "Tsurue no Yusho," an especially beautiful sunset view. When sky and water unite as one, time itself seems to dissolve into gentle harmony. From every room’s semi-open-air bath and terrace, enjoy ever-changing waterside vistas shaped by light and wind in perfect rhythm. Surrender yourself to this serenity so profound it makes you forget time itself. Here lies no noise or unnecessary adornment—only supreme richness found in harmony between nature and your heart. ── Everything returns to tranquility at Hagi Hakkei Karashima Villa.

  • It was wonderful. The castle town, the Hotel doors with stained glass, and the European-style furnishings created a lovely contrast between Japanese and Western elements. The canal view from the window was beautiful and truly moving! All the staff were kind, so I felt at ease throughout my stay. Dinner was delicious! The butter-grilled turban shell? Pouring the last of the sauce over bread was amazing! The fugu sashimi and the meat were also excellent. The cypress bath in the Room was spacious and relaxing.Everything was great, but one thing I noticed was that the mat in the Room felt a bit small. Also, it was disappointing that I bumped into a sofa corner that was too sharp and it hurt. What I loved is that you can rent bicycles! I enjoyed exploring Hagi by visiting Shoka Sonjuku Academy and Meirin Gakusha. I would definitely like to stay again!

  • I stayed here with my sons when they came home for the Obon holidays. Both the lobby and the salon were solid, elegant, and wonderful. From our Room window we could see the river and the sea, and we spent a relaxing time watching the sunset.Dinner was luxurious and delicious, but for me—now over 70—the portions were a bit too large. They asked how much of the finishing sea bream ochazuke we wanted, and I was surprised when my sons chose extra-large servings. The pudding was as delicious as ever, so I enjoyed it easily as a separate dessert stomach. This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again if I have the chance.Thank you very much for your hospitality.
