A culinary Accommodation that could be called the ultimate auberge, weaving the seasons into every dish.

Set within the lush primeval forests of Shikotsu-Toya National Park, the grounds span approximately 9,900 m². A garden passed down through generations and a large pond—paired with Hokkaido’s timeless landscape and the spirit of Japanese aesthetics—create seasonal moments found only here. Every guest room features a scenic-view bath filled with natural Onsen water. Oku-Jozankei Italian cuisine, rooted in Hokkaido’s abundant bounty and Japanese sensibility, offers one-of-a-kind flavors that reflect the colors of each season in every dish. An exceptional auberge-style Accommodation where cuisine weaves the seasons.

  • From check-in to strolling around the grounds, relaxing with coffee on the terrace, an in-room bath, delicious Italian cuisine, a drink by the fireplace, and an outstanding breakfast featuring perfectly cooked hokke—everything was wonderful!I wasn’t familiar with Accommodations in this area, so I carefully considered my options on IKYU and choosing this place was absolutely the right decision!I’d love to stay again.

  • We stayed here last year, and this was our second visit. When I mentioned that my husband’s birthday was two days earlier, they kindly gave us sparkling wine and a warm message at dinner. Thank you very much.As always, the hospitality, the Onsen, and the delicious meals made us glad we came.We would love to stay here again when we visit Hokkaido.

~Trees and flowers that have stood alongside the Accommodation’s history, and a beautiful seasonal story~

At the entrance, Todo firs, Japanese maples, and other carefully nurtured trees and plants welcome you. A newly unveiled garden offers a place to unwind, embraced by an ancient forest that becomes one with it. With each visit through the seasons, it weaves a beautiful story of nature’s changing beauty. Kasho Gyoen opened in 1989 as a traditional Japanese Ryokan and has long been cherished by our guests. Carrying on the founding spirit of hospitality and Accommodation-making passed down from the previous generation, we renewed ourselves in 2018 under the same name—welcoming you with a new style and heartfelt service. In the summer of 2022, we expanded our restaurant and lobby toward the pond to create an even more spacious setting. Today, as an adults-only hidden retreat Accommodation, we offer quiet moments of deep relaxation.
