Soba and Sake Oyado HIYAMA

This is our second stay. We felt so comfortable last time, the meals were delicious, and we slept well, so my husband and I came back.The seasonal dishes are amazing too! Once again, we were able to relax and unwind.We also really enjoyed the simmered potatoes made by your grandfather—they were delicious. We’d love to visit again during the colder season!

Staying at an Accommodation with only three Rooms made me realize how it enables them to serve truly exceptional cuisine. The Room we stayed in, called “Korin,” had the bath and washbasin outside the main room, which was a bit inconvenient; however, in return there was a dedicated dining room attached, so we could focus on the meal immediately without leaving our Room, and each dish was served at the perfect timing. It had been a long time since I so strongly appreciated the happiness of eating hot dishes while they are still hot. From the appetizer through lidded dishes and starters to grilled items, the natural flavors of the ingredients were brought out beautifully. In particular, I hadn’t expected much from Tochigi Wagyu (sorry!), but the steak was surprisingly tender, with an outstanding balance of fat and lean meat. Honestly, we went to a famous steak restaurant in Nikko for dinner the next day, and it didn’t lose out even to their Maezawa beef. The finishing soba was also delicious—I regret not ordering a large portion. Two dipping broths are provided (warm and cold), but personally I recommend the cold one. I’m attaching a photo of breakfast; breakfast was wonderful as well. If I have another chance to visit in the future, I would love to stay in a different Room. Thank you very much.
