Soba and Sake Oyado HIYAMA

Staying at an Accommodation with only three Rooms made me realize how that allows them to serve truly exceptional cuisine. The Room we stayed in, called “Korin,” had the bath and washbasin outside the main Room, which was a bit inconvenient, but in return it came with a dedicated dining Room. This meant we could focus on the meal immediately without leaving our Room, and each dish was served at exactly the right moment. It had been a long time since I so strongly appreciated the happiness of eating hot food while it is still hot. From the appetizer through lidded dishes, seasonal starters, and grilled items, the natural flavors of the ingredients were brought out beautifully. The grilled steak in particular exceeded expectations—honestly (sorry!), I wasn’t expecting much from Tochigi Wagyu—but it was surprisingly tender, with an outstanding balance of fat and lean meat. To be frank, we went to a famous steak restaurant in Nikko for dinner the next day, and this steak easily held its own against their Maezawa beef. The finishing soba was also delicious—I regret not ordering a larger portion. Two dipping sauces are provided (one warm and one cold), and personally I recommend the cold one. I’m attaching a photo of breakfast; breakfast was wonderful as well. If I have another chance to visit, I would love to stay in a different Room next time. Thank you very much.

This is our second stay. We felt so comfortable last time, the meals were delicious, and we slept well, so my husband and I came back.The seasonal dishes are amazing too! Once again, we were able to relax and unwind.We also really enjoyed the simmered potatoes made by your grandfather—they were delicious. We’d love to visit again during the colder season!
