    Breakfast

We stayed for one night on August 16, just after the Obon holidays, as a family of five. After we arrived, the front desk staff gave us a thorough explanation and were very helpful. Although we were told that there would still be many guests even after Obon and we were prepared for it, dinner was quite crowded. However, since it was split into two seatings, it wasn’t a problem. Breakfast was served from 7:00 to 9:00, and there was a line from the very start. The Hotel did its best by setting up three dining venues, so I understand it couldn’t be helped. However, when it was finally our turn and we went to get food, there were only scraps left. I assume there were fewer staff in the morning and they couldn’t refill items in time, but it was a bit disappointing.

They were very accommodating with an early check-in and arranging our luggage for the return trip. The Hotel has a calm, long-established tropical atmosphere, and the ocean view with palm trees felt like Hawaii—surprisingly exotic and very relaxing. We couldn’t go into the sea due to high waves, but we still enjoyed the pool. In the open-air bath, there were spider webs on the ceiling. I wish there had been more food options in the lounge—especially a curry dish.

The cleaning was not thorough enough.

One slipper from the previous guest was left in the entryway, flipped over on the dirt-floor area. Since it’s not visible while the front door is open, it seemed like it was overlooked during cleaning. Also, when my child walked barefoot indoors, a lot of dust and debris stuck to the soles of their feet, which made me wonder whether vacuuming had been done. It was also disappointing that the tatami mats were worn. I noticed dirt on the balcony and windows, but the view from the Room was nice. I understand this may be unavoidable, but we didn’t get a chance to feed the koi as mentioned in Reviews on various sites—perhaps our timing didn’t match. Even though my child watched the koi for a while, there was no guidance. Since my child enjoys feeding them, it was a bit disappointing. We chose a Japanese-style room thinking it would be comfortable for our child, but in hindsight I feel we might have been more satisfied with the cleanliness of a renovated Premium Room.

    A bit disappointing.

There were many disappointing aspects. The Premium Lounge has a wonderful view, but there was neither beer nor wine, so it didn’t feel premium at all. The open-air bath in the large public bath had spider webs all over the fence and even the central pillar, which was unpleasant, so I couldn’t relax and only used the indoor bath. I also chose the private dining option “MIRAI,” but it did not meet my expectations.

    The hallway smells musty.

I stayed in a renovated twin Room, but it still felt dated due to the existing doors and furniture. I think the cleaning was done well and it was kept clean. The walk from the lobby was long, and the corridors along the way and in front of my Room smelled strongly of mold. I think it would be better to take measures such as using aroma fragrance in the lobby. I was told to bring towels from my Room to the bath, but only a small plastic bag was provided in the Room, so I would have appreciated a carry bag for taking items with me. The bath was spacious and the hot water was great. I only had breakfast, but the ochazuke with minced horse mackerel, salmon, tuna, etc. was very delicious. However, although we were told that the breakfast venue could be used until 9:30, clearing away started at 9:15, and before 9:30 many staff began cleaning/packing up in a rush. It didn’t feel like an atmosphere where you could relax until 9:30, so I would like them to be a bit more considerate. The front desk staff were polite and helpful.

    Honestly, it was disappointing.

I stayed here during the Golden Week holidays. I believe it is a Hotel with a long tradition, but it was disappointing that the concierge only greeted me and did not offer any help even though I had heavy luggage. Both breakfast and dinner venues were overcrowded, and I was directed to the lounge or a separate space like a wedding hall, which made dining inconvenient and disappointing. Although it is buffet-style, the selection was limited, and the layout inside the venue was poor, which was very stressful. Because of these conditions, I couldn’t enjoy the meals and my overall satisfaction was quite low. The hot spring water quality was excellent, and the open-air bath felt wonderfully spacious—those points were very good.

    The buffet is disappointing.

The buffet was poor in both taste and selection, and I truly regret booking a Multiple Night Stay. My companion didn’t even go for breakfast on the day of departure. The taiyaki-style item with sea bream inside smelled very fishy; if it were chocolate or sweet bean paste, children should be able to eat it. Three adults paid just under 400,000 yen, but I would neither return nor recommend this Hotel. Even the premium lounge had sofas covered in stains, and I was shocked that the snacks were cheap candy. Wouldn’t it be better to check what nearby premium lounges are like? This was a Hotel where everything felt stuck in the Showa era.

    A Long-Established Inn in Kamogawa

The Facility feels historic in many ways, and it’s hard to say it was satisfying for the price during the Golden Week period. The Onsen also felt cramped and not very relaxing, and while we expected seafood for dinner, it was disappointing. Many properties around Kamogawa are aging, so that may be unavoidable, but I hope there will be something appealing that makes the stay feel worthwhile.

All staff are kind and helpful.

The staff were very considerate in many ways, such as during meals with our children, and we had a very comfortable stay. Looking around, there were many guests with small children, and the buffet offered a great selection of kids’ meals—my wife was pleasantly surprised. From check-in onward, the kind service and polite communication made our stay enjoyable. There were also many international staff members in the restaurant, and we are grateful for everyone’s friendly service.

    It was paradise!

During the cold wave, we decided to visit Kamogawa for a bit of warmth. It was our first time staying at Kamogawa Grand Hotel, and it was excellent! 〇 We chose a premium room that had just been renovated. Although we initially wanted a room with an open-air bath, we opted for one with an indoor view bath instead, considering the temperature difference might not be good for our health. The stunning Pacific Ocean spread out before us. Despite the cold wave outside, enjoying a post-bath beer in the warm and cozy room with efficient heating was simply the best. 〇 After check-in, we had tea at the lounge on the 8th floor. With sunlight streaming through large windows, it was such a relaxing time. 〇 For dinner, we enjoyed a course menu at MIRAI, which had just opened recently (we're not big fans of buffets, so having course options was what made us decide to make this Reservation). It exceeded our expectations! The sashimi platter was incredibly luxurious! We regret leaving some food uneaten because it was too much to finish. One of the selectable dishes—Spanish mackerel—was absolutely exquisite. The staff's service was excellent as well; we've become fans and definitely want to return again. 〇 We visited the large public bath after breakfast in the morning. Usually around this time it's empty; however, perhaps due to how cold it was outside deterring people from sightseeing—it turned out to be unexpectedly crowded! That said—the baths were spacious enough that we could still enjoy them comfortably. Boso Peninsula is easily accessible from Tokyo metropolitan areas—with beautiful scenery—and no bears around either—it’s truly wonderful here. Among all places within Boso region though—we feel Kamogawa Grand Hotel suits us perfectly across various aspects—and look forward toward visiting again someday soon! Thank you very much!

The services for children were excellent.

We visited with our kindergarten-aged child, and the Hotel services were enjoyable for children. They could feed the koi fish at the front desk, and there was a play area on the second floor with activities like battledore, spinning tops, karuta cards, and Othello. The variety kept our child entertained throughout our stay. The buffet also offered a wide selection of dishes for children, which was great. However, one disappointing aspect was that although we stayed in what seemed to be a nice sea-view Room, there were insects present. Despite efforts to get rid of them, both my child and I woke up with insect bites. It was surprising to encounter mosquitoes in December and left us feeling sad during what should have been an enjoyable stay.

Premium Japanese-Style Room with Open-Air Bath and Private Dining

The Room was not very spacious, but it was clean enough. The view from the window and the open-air bath was excellent, and the morning bath was very pleasant. Dinner was served at a private dining room called MIRAI. Unfortunately, many of the sashimi dishes had a fishy smell. Breakfast was served as a buffet, which was quite satisfying.

    The location is excellent.

I would love to stay here again. Our trip with my parents was a great success. The bath facilities, the cuisine, the smile of the gentleman in the lounge, and the ocean view from the Room were all exceptional. You can also access the beach, and the garden is beautifully maintained. However, I was concerned about the lack of a smile during check-out service.

The view from Room 501 and the warmth of the staff are delightful.

Stayed in Room 501 as a returning guest. The corner room offers a view of the sea and even the orca area, surrounded by the vast ocean for an open and relaxing atmosphere. The room has been renovated, feeling modern and comfortable. Access to the lounge on the 8th floor was also a great perk. The warmth of the staff at the 8th-floor lounge and Sri Lankan restaurant team, who prioritize guests' needs, was truly appreciated. As for room requests, my 91-year-old companion mentioned that even a small step at the entrance could be challenging. Adding handrails would enhance accessibility for elderly guests. Similarly, installing handrails in private barrier-free baths would make them more inclusive for everyone. A simple addition like this could create fully accessible rooms without significant costs. The elevator near the large bath is spacious; however, if the slope leading to it on the first floor were gentler, it would be easier for wheelchair users to navigate. Regarding meals, we enjoyed an abundant buffet featuring winter delicacies such as crab, shrimp, clams, and mussels—perfectly satisfying! The buffet setup is excellent with high carts that provide stability for elderly guests while collecting food. This hotel stands out thanks to its warm-hearted staff. We hope these small improvements can be made and look forward to staying again!

    The premium room was excellent.

I stayed here for my partner's birthday. I called the Hotel in advance to request a cake, and their response was excellent from the start. Even when we arrived, the staff provided very courteous service. The open-air bath in our room had a stunning view of the ocean, which was absolutely amazing. I read some Reviews mentioning that the sound of the ocean was loud, but it wasn't at all; rather, it felt like soothing background music and was incredibly relaxing. The meals were seafood-based and delicious. If I visit Kamogawa again, I will definitely stay here! Thank you for a wonderful time.

    Stayed in a maisonette.

Previously, we stayed in a room for two, but this time, we stayed in a maisonette-type room for six with our grandchildren, and it was comfortable. However, it was a bit inconvenient that there was no toilet on the second floor (especially at night). The Onsen with the open-air bath was excellent. The meals were buffet-style and enjoyable, but we were told that during busy times, seating might be in the lounge, which was inconvenient, so we waited a bit to get a seat inside the restaurant. Check-out at 10 a.m. felt a bit early. Overall, it was quite a good experience.

The exterior is old, but the interior is clean.

The Western-style building has stairs and is clean inside. The buffet offers a wide variety of dishes, all of which were delicious. The price is slightly on the higher side.

    Disappointing service...

Although it is a buffet, the timing for clearing dishes was awkward (they asked if they could clear the table just as we were about to leave). Additionally, I couldn't help but notice a staff member at the night bar disposing of spilled beer into the flowerbed.

We visited with 10 people, including 4 grandchildren from 3 families.

We visited with a group of 10, including my daughter's family of four, my son's family of four, and the grandparents. We used three Japanese-style rooms. The accommodation contacted us in advance to confirm our stay and kindly reserved seats for our group of 10 at the dinner venue, which was very helpful. Until last year, we stayed at a private accommodation with a pool, but preparing meals was quite challenging. This year, we opted for an accommodation with buffet-style dinner and breakfast included, which made things much easier for us. The grandchildren were thrilled to enjoy an all-you-can-eat experience with their favorite foods. Fortunately blessed with good weather, we fully enjoyed the pool as well. It was especially nice that there were many children of similar ages around during mealtimes so we didn’t have to worry too much about being mindful of others. After swimming in the pool, it was great to relax immediately in the onsen or let the kids play freely in the playroom—our grandchildren seemed very satisfied overall. From overhearing conversations among other guests during our stay, it became clear that many are repeat visitors here—and now I understand why! We would love to visit again next time as well! Thank you so much to all the staff members for your hospitality!

    The highest record ever achieved!

For three months, I conducted thorough research to plan our annual summer vacation with my grandchildren. The key to success was the accommodation. After carefully reviewing reviews, facilities, and services, we decided on Kamogawa Grand Hotel this year. To ensure enjoyment for both us as a couple and our daughter's family, we focused on meals, the pool, the onsen, and most importantly, having separate rooms. In conclusion, at 61 years old, this turned out to be the best trip of my life. This was all thanks to the warm hospitality of all hotel staff members—starting with those who guided us in the parking lot. My 11-year-old and 6-year-old grandchildren said they want to come back here again. So I will take care of my health diligently so that we can return next year. The reasons for my high rating cannot be fully expressed here; I encourage everyone to stay here themselves and experience it firsthand!

    Cool off by the pool

Clean and comfortable Room, excellent view, attentive staff, and delicious meals are commendable. However, the strong musty smell in the Room needs to be addressed. Additionally, the outdoor bath in the large public bath was too hot to enjoy leisurely. The pool shower also requires improvement. If the musty smell is resolved, I would love to stay at this Hotel again.

    Family Travel with Children

We stayed here for the pool and beach activities. The view was amazing. The 24-hour open-air bath in the Room was great as we could use it anytime without needing to fill it up. The large public bath had a spacious open-air section, and both the temperature and view were excellent. Breakfast and dinner were buffet-style with a wide variety of options, including salads and a kids' corner, all of which were delicious. Since it's operated in two shifts with complete turnover, there was a line right after the start time. It might be less crowded if you go later, but be cautious as live kitchen items or salads may run out if you go too late. Also, it's inconvenient that only the buffet area does not allow entry in yukata (you have to change back into regular clothes after bathing). The outdoor pool had a resort-like atmosphere with shallow areas for children and benches where you could place your belongings—perfect for families with small kids. Although we used it after check-out, lockers or showers weren't available at that time (possibly due to timing), so we had to wear something over our swimsuits until reaching the site and change discreetly at one corner of the public bath afterward (without being able to wash our bodies). However, having access to a swimsuit dryer was convenient. While some parts of this Hotel felt old, major Rooms and Facilities have been renovated beautifully. Child-friendly amenities like yukatas in various sizes and slippers were well-prepared—thank you!

    Lack of employee training

Typically, it is expected that staff assist guests with their luggage and guide them to their room, but this service was absent throughout the stay. I have stayed at various hotels before, but this was the worst experience. The room had been renovated and was clean, but cost-cutting measures were evident in other areas, which was disappointing. This is not a hotel I would want to visit again!

    The room is spacious!

I stayed here for a solo trip. The detached room in the S Building was spacious enough for one person. The No Meals Included Plan at 6,880 yen is truly a great deal. It seems you can also add breakfast for 2,200 yen. I had requested breakfast in my email during booking, but there was no mention of it at check-in (the receptionist seemed quite intimidating...), and I ended up not having breakfast. I'm not sure if this was an error on the hotel's side or IKYU's side, but honestly, I felt like saying, "I really wanted to try the breakfast buffet!" If you're planning to book the No Meals Included Plan and want breakfast as well, I recommend confirming your request clearly at check-in instead of relying solely on email communication.

    The private open-air...

The private open-air bath is definitely worth trying. You can relax without worrying about others, and the amenities provided are of higher quality, with noticeably better water pressure in the shower. However, it was disappointing to find a used towel left on the stones near the bathtub. The dinner buffet was a bit underwhelming compared to expectations. On the other hand, the breakfast buffet was excellent. The private dining experience was delicious and satisfying.

The bath is excellent. Dissatisfied with the meal service.

The exterior and interior showed some signs of wear, but the place was clean. The proximity to the sea and the beautiful scenery were great. The bath was spacious and comfortable. However, I was dissatisfied with the dining experience. Due to a lack of seating in the dining area, we had to eat in a lobby referred to as a lounge. There was significant noise leakage from karaoke on the second floor, completely ruining the atmosphere. I noticed some groups being moved to the dining area, so I asked if we could move as well, only to be told that relocation is not offered unless specifically requested by guests beforehand. We were not even asked initially if we would like to move when seats became available. It felt like they simply left compliant guests where they were without consideration—this approach is unbelievable. It made me very sad during what should have been an enjoyable trip.

    The view is spectacular!

The view from Room 501, a corner room, is truly spectacular. For travel enthusiasts like us, it ranks among the best we’ve experienced in any Hotel. The grand ocean, the beauty of the mountains, the sunrise in the morning, and watching birds flying over the sea brought us immense joy. Additionally, we deeply appreciated the thoughtful assistance provided by staff when guiding us to the lounge on the 8th floor with consideration for wheelchair accessibility—it was truly heartwarming. The lounge offered drinks and a relaxing atmosphere with an ocean view, which was another highlight of our stay. If possible, we would like to suggest some improvements: allowing yukata wear in restaurants; providing room wear such as samue; and enhancing barrier-free facilities (e.g., handrails in bathroom and entrance areas of rooms or angled slopes within the premises). While these may be part of your long-standing Hotel policies or traditions that are hard to compromise on, updating services alongside aging facilities would be greatly appreciated. We were deeply moved by one particular staff member’s natural kindness at the lounge and wanted to express our gratitude through this comment. Wishing you continued success—thank you for taking care of us during our stay!
