    Enjoyed with children.

    I stayed for two nights in the new main building. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable, especially the room. The flooring felt great, and it was a space where you take off your shoes to enter, which made it even more relaxing. It was also safe and enjoyable for children. The closet space was convenient to use as well. The large public bath was spacious and very pleasant. The meals were served buffet-style with a wide variety of dishes to enjoy. Although there were some booths with lines due to many guests, the wait wasn’t long, and everything went smoothly after a short time. The amusement park is on the smaller side, so it might feel insufficient for third graders; however, it’s perfect for spending a leisurely time. I would love to stay here again!

    Check-in was at 4:00 PM, but the only available breakfast time the next day was 8:45 AM. With children, having a check-out time of 10:00 AM felt like a tight schedule. We were informed that extending check-out by one hour would cost ¥2,000, but considering the limited breakfast timing, it would be appreciated if there could be more flexibility. Regarding staff interactions, while some staff members were polite and accommodating, a male staff member at the front desk and parking area responded to questions with an unpleasant attitude and tone. This was disappointing given the otherwise positive experiences with other staff members.

    We stayed as a family. The meals offered a wide variety, making it hard to choose, and we were completely satisfied. The staff was very accommodating, and the cleanliness was excellent. Our children loved it too, so we would love to stay here again.

    We stayed for the first time as a family of three (father, mother, and 1.5-year-old child). Although it was just a one-night stay, we had an amazing experience from check-in to check-out. Specifically, the room (new building) was spacious enough for our child to run around and play freely, with a great view that we truly enjoyed. The amenities were well-prepared, allowing us to have a very comfortable stay. Additionally, both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style with plenty of delicious options to choose from. The onsen featured an infinity mixed bath (no reservation required), which was incredibly relaxing. Child-friendly amenities were also provided, making it easy to handle any forgotten items—this was very helpful! Furthermore, there is a family park near the hotel that is perfect for letting children play and have fun. We would love to stay here again if we get another opportunity!

    The room I stayed in was very disappointing.

    The meals and bath were satisfactory. The room I stayed in was the "East Wing" Japanese Modern Japanese-Western Room, 40 square meters. I had high expectations based on the reservation site and the hotel's official website, but the reality was completely different. First, the bathroom was so small that it felt impossible to bathe properly. The bathtub itself seemed too cramped to use comfortably. What made it worse was that on the day of my stay, temperatures were high enough that staying in a room without air conditioning was unbearable. However, the air conditioner remote control only allowed temperature adjustments down to 27°C and no lower than that. Additionally, there were no fan speed options other than low or high power mode. I tried sleeping with the air conditioner on but found it too hot at low power mode and switched to high power mode; however, this caused loud noise and excessive cooling. I kept alternating between modes throughout the night due to discomfort from either heat or noise and ended up barely getting any sleep at all. Furthermore, upon entering my room I discovered that the refrigerator's switch had been turned off; I had to turn it on myself and wait for it cool down before use. I stay at hotels about five times a year but this has been by far one of my worst experiences ever with accommodations—so much so that I would never consider staying here again. Please take these comments into account for future improvements!

    I have visited for two consecutive years, and the guest room and restaurant staff are always polite and kind, making for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The sauna with a lake view and the natural water bath are incredibly refreshing! Families can enjoy bathing together as bathing suits are provided. The buffet-style meals are delicious, with each dish carefully prepared. There are also plenty of nearby amusement parks and sightseeing spots to ensure fulfilling days during your stay.

    Since we stayed in the East Wing, the dining area and large public bath were a bit far. However, as it is connected to the main building, we could move around without going outside, which was helpful since it was raining. The service was excellent, and the staff were very pleasant. The interior and room were impeccably clean. For mixed bathing, bathing clothes are provided so swimsuits are not necessary (children will need them). It was convenient that we could use the baths even before check-in and after check-out. The self-pouring sauna felt great. In the onsen lounge, carbonated water was available to drink; mixing it with juice from vending machines made for a delicious treat. The buffet had a wide variety of options and was very satisfying. As part of Shirakaba Resort, there are facilities nearby that kept children entertained without getting bored. It was quite cold during this season at Shirakaba, so proper cold-weather gear is recommended; however, I would love to visit again!

    It was excellent.

    We stayed as a couple and had a relaxing experience from check-in to check-out without any complaints. First of all, we were impressed by the hospitality of the staff, who kindly interacted with us. The room was spacious, clean, and very satisfying. The meals offered a wide variety, and the live kitchen was excellent. We especially enjoyed the naan at the curry corner. The large public bath also included mixed bathing options, allowing us to relax together as a couple. It was truly a satisfying trip. We are already talking about bringing our grandchild next time! Thank you for providing such a wonderful stay.

    I stayed in a room in the East Wing. At the time of reservation, due to the number of people and availability, I could only book the East Wing. However, in conclusion, if staying again, I would recommend choosing the Main Building. The accommodation shows efforts to improve and conveys a sense of dedication. However, it is unfortunate that attention to detail seems lacking in some areas. The East Wing is essentially an older building that has been renovated, so the rooms are very clean inside. Due to its basic old structure, I was surprised by how the indoor bath was installed; however, with a spacious public bath offering great views available on-site, this wasn’t much of an issue for me. What stood out most while inside my room was WiFi connectivity issues. The access points are located in hallways; while soundproofing is good due to solid walls—this works against WiFi signals reaching properly into rooms. Additionally—it appears output power has been reduced likely avoiding signal interference problems—but as result—the signal doesn’t reach far corners like bed spaces within rooms. While technically connecting onto Wi-Fi network might seem possible—it remains unstable delivering speeds around 1–2 Mbps max whereas near doors/sinks closer proximity yields ~50Mbps performance instead! Given demand primarily revolves around using internet lying comfortably atop beds—practically speaking such setup renders these accommodations effectively without functional wireless coverage altogether! All essential facilities including large baths/buffet dining/front desk services exist exclusively housed centrally within main-building premises necessitating long walks traversing corridors between sections understandably unavoidable aspect here though inconvenient nonetheless. Renovating older wings increasing total guestroom count relative buffet-serving capacity creates imbalance evident during peak meal hours despite attempts alleviating congestion via staggered scheduling approaches observed firsthand witnessing extended queues forming especially surrounding live-cooking stations preparing dishes freshly served directly upfront rather than pre-prepared alternatives stocked behind-the-scenes beforehand expediting service flow overall efficiency-wise decision-making questioned therein contextually frustrating experience endured personally amidst circumstances described above vividly recalling seafood corner featuring crab legs prominently drawing massive crowds disproportionately overshadowing other offerings salmon etc., forcing everyone interested accessing latter items join same lengthy line regardless intentions ultimately leaving dissatisfied prematurely departing table unsatiated entirely disheartened seeing wastefulness rampant leftover uneaten portions discarded abundantly suggesting limiting quantities distributed per serving prioritizing crabs over meats logical adjustment worth considering future improvements operationally optimizing guest satisfaction outcomes comprehensively addressed moving forward!

    I stayed for a 2-night, 3-day trip at the Annex building. I have stayed here several times, and the hospitality is always excellent. The staff I encountered greeted me warmly every time. The dinner buffet offers a wide variety of delicious dishes, so it never gets boring! However, from a parent's perspective, the kids' corner menu is not very child-friendly. The dry and hard bread, overly seasoned fried noodles, and tough potatoes were difficult for children to eat each time. If there were softer and more child-friendly menu options, children could enjoy their meals more. Since there is such an impressive kids' buffet area already in place, I hope both the taste and menu will be improved! The room was clean; however, the toilet had an overwhelming odor. The ventilation system did not work properly—there was a lingering smell as soon as you entered—and it was unpleasant. Additionally, the exhaust fan was covered in dust. Since this was a multiple night stay, I noticed this issue every day. While it's understandable that some facilities are old, improving cleanliness and ventilation would make a big difference. The hospitality here is always wonderful overall; I hope to see further improvements in these areas!

    Perfect for families...

    Perfect for families with children! The meals were excellent! If I had to point out one thing, we added the all-you-can-drink option for dinner. While the self-serve drink system was convenient, it seemed like the beer server wasn't properly cleaned. The beer didn't taste good, which was disappointing. Since it's a paid service, I hope more attention is given to cleaning the drink servers. That was the only downside.

    Overall, I was satisfied.

    The meals, bath, and room were all satisfying. One suggestion would be to offer late check-out options, as we prefer to spend leisurely mornings during our holidays. As repeat visitors, we’ve noticed continuous renovations with each visit, making the facility increasingly comfortable. We also see many young guests and hope for more child-friendly activities in the future.

    The bath was exceptionally clean, with perfectly adjusted water temperature and thorough maintenance, making it very enjoyable. We also appreciated the unlimited access to water and sparkling water after bathing. The Facility includes a game center and a table tennis area, which delighted the children. The meals offered a wide variety of delicious options, and the staff provided excellent service. The indoor temperature was perfect, even when moving around in loungewear, ensuring comfort throughout our stay. We would love to visit again. Thank you!

    Stayed at the new main building Traveled with a 4-year-old child Made the reservation around noon the day before our stay All requests made in advance, such as a Hollywood twin bed, two baby guards, and a toilet seat for children, were prepared perfectly The staff at the car drop-off area, front desk, restaurant, shop, shuttle bus stop, and lift station were very polite and attentive Unfortunately: For three guests staying together, futons are laid out on tatami mats; however, the futons were too thin to sleep on comfortably. We ended up sharing one bed among three people. It would be great if thicker mattresses (like Airweave) could be provided Additionally: After check-in at the Hotel reception desk does not store luggage. Guests must use self-service lockers (returnable type), but they are located in separate areas and can be confusing to find (one location only had two available lockers) The ski locker in the basement was old; coins got stuck and did not return properly. After tilting it diagonally slightly—finally retrieved my 100 yen coin! This caused quite some commotion unnecessarily Special benefits like Winter Five Pack deals offer excellent value highly recommend them! As feedback/suggestion: Even if just non-ski-related items could temporarily stored securely within premises directly by Hotels themselves instead relying solely external locker systems

    I stayed on the 9th ...

    I stayed on the 9th floor of the newly renovated main building. The accommodation was clean due to the recent renovation, and I found the pricing reasonable. The location is excellent, offering breathtaking views of Shirakaba Lake's snowy scenery and a star-filled night sky from the room, allowing for a relaxing stay. The children thoroughly enjoyed activities at the bowling alley and game center in the annex building. The space has a nostalgic charm reminiscent of the Showa era in a good way. We also had fun sledding at a nearby snow park, making it an ideal environment for families with children. Meals were served buffet-style in a modernized dining area with high ceilings, featuring delicious and well-prepared dishes.

    The Best Gift for Your Parents

    I have stayed here several times before. I’ve stayed in the East Wing and Amex Wing, but this was my first time in the New Wing. This trip was an annual getaway with my parents, aiming to create unforgettable memories. This year marked their diamond wedding anniversary, so I chose the New Wing to let them relax and enjoy themselves. The facility was very clean, the snowy scenery was breathtaking, they loved the buffet, and were deeply impressed by the baths. It was a perfect setting for a special occasion. I hope to continue traveling with my parents for many more years to come. Thank you for creating such wonderful memories!

    Excellent Hospitality for Families with Children

    Family trip with 5 and 8-year-old children. The service was excellent, and they smoothly handled our input error during the reservation process. We are also grateful for their care when our son fell ill on the second night. This is a very child-friendly accommodation, as we hardly saw any guests without children. However, there are three points that need improvement: First, the restaurant experience. Even choosing less crowded times couldn't avoid long lines, and both the menu and taste were underwhelming overall—nothing exciting at all. Considering this major renovation aimed at a luxury direction, more effort is needed here. Second, regarding the large public bath. While having a sauna is great, there was only one small cold bath available during this season. It required sharing with others but was often occupied by children playing in it like a pool in the evening when it’s crowded—parents watching from nearby seemed unbothered while sauna users gave up using it altogether due to lack of space or etiquette issues caused by kids playing around freely inside such limited facilities! Adding another cold bath or posting clear rules would help resolve these concerns effectively! Thirdly about mixed-gender outdoor hot spring "Koten-no-Yu." Although wearing swimsuits besides traditional bathing attire (yukata) allowed here; many swimsuit-wearing visitors skipped showering before entering directly into open-air baths straight from changing rooms which raises hygiene concerns since chlorine levels aren’t comparable pools either similarly people donning yukatas provided within dressing areas didn’t rinse beforehand too hence relocating yukata distribution closer showers adjacent koten-yu entrance-only logical solution banning adult swimwear entirely preferable alternative ensuring better sanitary standards maintained throughout premises alike! Nevertheless—as mentioned earlier—all staff members truly exceptional especially foreign restaurant team member who gently covered sleeping son blanket brought pillow showcasing five-star hospitality exceeding expectations genuinely hope remains steadfast supporter family travelers future endeavors wonderful hotel indeed

    Accommodation for two consecutive years

    Last year, we stayed at Ikenotaira Hotel (Main Building Lake View Room) for the first time and were very satisfied with both the view and the cleanliness of the room. This year, fulfilling my daughter's wish to "go to Ikenotaira again," we booked two rooms for my family and my daughter's couple (1 night in the Main Building from 2/10)! The meals were buffet-style with a wide variety of dishes, and the staff at the meat corner cheerfully carved meat for us. Empty plates on our table were promptly cleared by attentive staff! The onsen was clean and spacious; we enjoyed it four times during our stay. The typical "extreme dryness in winter rooms" was easily solved with a humidifier provided in the room. After checkout, we were informed that "if you present your accommodation receipt after checkout, you can still use the onsen today!" So after half a day of skiing at the hotel's ski resort, we enjoyed our fifth soak in the onsen! Feeling refreshed afterward, we bought souvenirs at "Marche" on the first floor of the hotel before heading home fully satisfied after two wonderful days. The parking staff's explanations were so polite that it made us feel humbled! We are already planning our third visit next year!

    A Hotel for Adults to Enjoy: "Ikenotaira Hotel"

    We recently stayed at the Hotel for the first time as a couple, having fond memories of its iconic commercial from childhood: "Shirakaba Resort, Ikenotaira Hotel." This was after the complete renovation of the main building. From our room on the 10th floor, we enjoyed a breathtaking view of the snow-covered Shirakaba Lake and skiers in the distance through large windows. After relaxing in an open-air bath at -8°C, we even tried bowling for the first time in 25 years! Dinner at "Kohan no Kaze" was managed with consistent quality, and we indulged like kids again—eating too much and even going back for seconds on soft serve ice cream! What left a lasting impression was the attentive care from staff across all departments. Regardless of their position or age, everyone provided warm and flexible service that went beyond standard protocols. With its 70-year history, this hospitality truly reflects what makes Ikenotaira Hotel special. It’s not just ideal for families with children but also perfect for full-moon couple trips to create meaningful memories. We look forward to seeing further evolution from this wonderful Hotel!

    I’ve become a fan!

    I stayed at the new accommodation building. The room was spacious and clean, with a balcony that allowed for a relaxing stay. The bath was less crowded than expected, so I could enjoy a leisurely soak. What impressed me the most was the food—the variety of dishes at the buffet was amazing! Additionally, the special dish for guests staying in the new accommodation building (on this day it was meat) featured duck, and it was absolutely delicious! Just that duck dish alone made me completely satisfied. With plenty of amusements available, I’m looking forward to coming back with a larger group next time.

    Recommended for family trips

    We chose this Hotel for our first stay based on our child's wish to go on a ski trip for their birthday. The deciding factors were the nearby beginner-friendly ski slopes, the Onsen, and the buffet-style meals. In the end, we believe we made the right choice. During our 2-night, 3-day stay, we enjoyed skiing from arrival to departure. The Onsen under the cold sky was incredibly relaxing, and the carbonated water available in the lounge after bathing was delicious. However, we found it confusing that the mixed-gender bath requiring special bathing wear was connected to the main bath area. When we were about to leave, an elderly man accidentally entered completely naked in front of us—this was quite shocking! Thankfully it was dimly lit so my daughter didn’t see much; separating its entrance from that of the main bath would be appreciated. Aside from this incident, it was slightly disappointing that there were only two restaurants within the Hotel or a convenience store for lunch options. That said, my child loved all of their birthday perks and thoughtful gestures from staff. The Room was clean with a beautiful view of Lake Shirakaba—overall they were thrilled and very satisfied. Although this trip focused on skiing, there’s also an amusement park next door which makes us want to visit again during warmer seasons!

    Good Hotel for Families with Children

    This was our first stay, and based on reviews, we stayed for 4 nights in late December. We were provided with a corner room on the 9th floor of the new main building. The room was clean, had a great view, and we were very satisfied. The large public bath, restaurant, and shop are located in the new main building. The onsen had a mixed bathing area with warm water where families could enjoy together. The amusement building is accessible via a connecting corridor, but it didn’t feel inconvenient. While it does show some age, the kids enjoyed the game center and bowling. The meals offered a wide variety of dishes that changed slightly each day, so even during our 4-night stay we didn’t get bored. The crab was especially delicious. Although there were busy times due to group visitors during breakfast and dinner hours, waiting for a bit resolved any issues. Our children loved playing in the snow park and feeding animals. It’s truly a resort where both kids and adults can have fun. We’d love to visit again!

    Snowboarding and Onsen

    This was our first time using this accommodation, and it was perfect for our family of three with kids! The ski slope is right in front of the hotel, and since it's a smaller slope, even during New Year's, the lifts were not crowded. We were able to enjoy snowboarding multiple times without any hassle. While advanced skiers might find it less challenging, there are several other slopes nearby to suit various preferences. The hotel's buffet was excellent. The bath area, including the outdoor onsen, was thoughtfully designed and truly impressive. There’s even a bath where babies wearing swim diapers can enter—highly recommended for families with small children to bring those along. The changing room also had child-friendly toilets, making it a very family-friendly hotel overall. We enjoyed the pool, game center, and table tennis as well—it was an incredibly satisfying trip! This time we stayed in the East Wing; next time we’d love to stay in the Main Wing. Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories!

    The best Hotel for a family trip

    In 2024, I stayed twice, in summer and autumn, on the 5th and 10th floors of the main building. Both rooms were clean, and the view from the large windows was excellent, but if you have the chance, I definitely recommend the top floor. The top floor offers different perks, amenities, and services. The underground parking at the hotel was particularly convenient. The meals are like a world buffet with a wide variety, and you can enjoy it no matter how many times you visit. However, in summer, there are many small children, so some seats can be a bit chaotic and not very relaxing. If you're concerned, try to avoid peak seasons or have dinner around 5 PM, as it's relatively less crowded. (Reservation required upon arrival) The only thing I'd like to see renovated is the bowling alley. It hasn't changed since the old days. Please consider renewing it! Nevertheless, adults can enjoy a full day, so I'm planning to visit in spring next. (Personally, I recommend the shadow picture gallery)

    Satisfaction and good value for money

    Family Land was in the off-season, and the ski resort was not yet open, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay just within the Facility. The staff, who were refreshing and kind, seemed to be efficiently allocated. Porter services were omitted (not much of an inconvenience), and more staff were placed in crowded dining areas, allowing guests to enjoy their time comfortably even when it was busy. In these times of high prices, the cost and the deliciousness of the buffet are greatly appreciated. As a consistently popular Facility, meal time preferences and parking spots are on a first-come, first-served basis, so an early check-in seems advisable. For those who want to fully enjoy the resort, a two-night stay is recommended, and for those with weak legs or who dislike walking, the main building is suggested. Please do not underestimate the winter roads, as we witnessed cars stuck in utility poles in front of the Hotel and cars unable to move on the way.

    The Room is clean.

    This was my first stay. I paid an additional fee on the day to upgrade the room to a suite. The room was very clean. The buffet venue was spacious and the food was delicious, but the selection seemed limited. What was disappointing was the bathroom in the room. The floor of the washing area had noticeable red mold, which was quite unpleasant. I had high expectations because the staff who guided us to the parking lot upon arrival left a very good impression, but it turned out to be a very disappointing stay.
