I’d love to stay here again.

Although some Reviews mentioned the food wasn’t great, I was extremely satisfied—especially with dinner. The freshly grilled steak was cooked to perfection and unbelievably delicious, and even the crab (which I personally didn’t expect much from) turned out to be excellent. The other dishes and desserts were also delicious, and it made me very happy. Breakfast was great too. It can’t really be helped with a buffet, but I did notice quite a few guests handling the serving tongs rather roughly, which sometimes looked unhygienic… Still, overall I was very satisfied! There were so many types of Onsen that as I went around them all, I ended up feeling a bit overheated—what a luxurious memory. I also felt how difficult centralized air conditioning can be, but changing the system for an entire building must be tough, so it’s understandable. I’ll definitely come again!

    Add Dinner

I booked a twin room with breakfast only, but I wanted to add dinner for just one person. When I emailed in advance, I was told that adding dinner was possible only for two people and not for just one, so I assumed we would have to eat out since there are no restaurants in the Hotel. However, it was raining on the day, and given our age we preferred to dine in the Hotel if possible. When I asked at the front desk at check-in, they simply said it could be added for one person as well. I was relieved, but why was there such inconsistency? It was disappointing that the time spent looking for places to eat ended up being wasted. The added dinner was especially good—the crab in particular was delicious. The Onsen was very nice, but the key to the valuables locker was stiff and difficult to turn when opening it.

    Unfortunately, not this time.

I’ve stayed here many times, but this time was disappointing. The front desk staff seemed experienced, but they gave me the wrong size yukata. When I seriously asked because I was worried about recent bear sightings, they laughed it off. The Room had a stylish cushion chair, but when the staff came to lay out the futons, they tossed the floor cushions onto and around the sofa, which left me feeling very disappointed.

It was an excellent value for a one-night stay.

They advertise having one of Japan’s largest Onsen, and it wasn’t an exaggeration—it was truly outstanding. The variety, temperatures, open-air baths, indoor baths, sauna, spacious changing area, and the generous washing space—this was the most well-equipped Onsen I’ve ever experienced. The food was also excellent value for money: unlimited salmon roe, crab packed with meat, and steak as well. The crab was at a level you wouldn’t expect from an all-you-can-eat option. Because it’s an older Hotel, the only thing that bothered me was the sound of children running around in the Rooms above/below/next door. Overall though, I was extremely satisfied. I’d love to stay at this Hotel again. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

    Affordable

Even during the long holiday period, the baths were enormous and never crowded at all, so I was able to fully enjoy a variety of baths. The scale is impressive. The breakfast venue was also like a large hall, with a decent selection. It truly is a large Hotel. The guest room seemed to have been renovated in recent years and was clean. Compared with nearby Facility options, it was more than satisfying and reasonably priced.

The open-air bath is truly amazing.

The open-air bath was spacious, and I didn’t feel bothered by other guests at all. It made me want to soak again and again. Dinner was amazing—there was soy sauce ramen, seafood bowls, steak, roast beef, curry, and even crab—so my appetite went into overdrive. There were plenty of desserts too, which made me happy. You’ll regret it if you don’t arrive hungry. For breakfast, the mentaiko looked especially recommended with how it was served. I’d love to visit again.

It was amazing again this year!

As we did last year, we stayed with my parents and family in two Rooms. Once again, we were completely satisfied with everything—the meals and the Onsen! Thank you so much to all the Ryokan staff for your kindness. Thanks to you, we were able to relax and enjoy a comfortable stay with peace of mind. We would definitely love to stay again!

    Long time no see, Mahoroba.

My spouse and I visited Mahoroba as a couple for the first time in a while. We came because the baths are great, but we were disappointed with the meals. While eating, we talked about how it was better last time. A nearby Hotel we ate at a few months ago was more delicious.

    Great value for money!

The indoor and outdoor Onsen were so spacious that we were amazed! There are about three types of spring quality, so you never get bored. The outdoor baths, with around four large pools hidden in the steam, were much larger than we expected. My daughter especially loved the slide at the outdoor bath! She enjoyed it so much that she kept sliding non-stop even in winter. As for the buffet meals, we could enjoy sweet snow crab and sashimi—it made us wonder if this price is really correct! The value for money was truly exceptional considering the content.

Onsen and meals are simply the best.

Due to the arrival of an overseas group, meals were arranged at the Green Terrace. Thanks to this, we were able to enjoy a relaxing and delicious dining experience. Thank you very much. The Onsen is spacious and provides excellent warmth. The cold bath was also refreshing and pleasant.

    No all-you-can-drink option

There is no all-you-can-drink option at the buffet. This was surprising. Juices are charged individually. Beer is also sold separately. The staff on the floor were non-Japanese and unable to answer our questions. Staff training could be improved. It’s disappointing because everything else was good.

    The baths are spacio...

The baths are spacious and offer a variety of options, truly living up to the reputation of Noboribetsu Onsen. However, the buffet meals were somewhat disappointing. The selection was limited, many dishes were cold, and the Satsunai edamame was still frozen. While it might be considered reasonable for the price, it felt unfortunate given how exceptional the Onsen experience was.

    Onsen and meals are excellent.

As it is a large Hotel, I expected the Onsen to be crowded, but there were many available, so I could relax with just one or two people around, which was very nice. The buffet had a wide variety of dishes, all of which were delicious. The rice and soup were especially tasty, and I ended up having multiple servings. The Room was very clean and even had two toilets, which was convenient. It would have been even better if there were lotion and toner provided in the Room as well. I would love to visit again!

    The bath was excellent.

We stayed as a family of four with elderly parents. The price was reasonable, and while the building is old, it was very clean, and the room was well-maintained. The onsen offered various types of hot springs to enjoy, which was wonderful. For meals, we chose the Green Terrace option, but there were fewer dishes than expected, and there wasn’t much that appealed to us. Since the reviews were good, it was a bit disappointing. What stood out positively was that staff in the dressing area of the large public bath were monitoring how guests used the onsen and guiding foreign visitors on proper etiquette—this was very helpful! You never know what might happen otherwise! (laughs) By the way, someone even did freestyle swimming with their face in the water in one of the onsens! Thank you very much for everything.

    The Bath Department Store

The facility is somewhat dated, but it is well-maintained and clean. The main reason for coming here was solely the "quality of the onsen." As mentioned in other reviews, the onsen was truly excellent and of high quality. Being able to enjoy various types of baths was truly satisfying.

Even when fully booked, it was stress-free.

During the Saturday of the three-day weekend in September, it seemed almost fully booked, but we had a stress-free stay. The bath area had quite a number of people, but it was very spacious, so there was no discomfort. Unfortunately, due to heavy rain, women couldn't enjoy the open-air Onsen as much, but that was unavoidable because of the weather. We dined at Green Terrace and hardly ever had to wait in line for the buffet, making it a comfortable experience. We were a group of seven (3 rooms), and everyone was satisfied with the meals. The Room showed some age but considering it as an Onsen-style Japanese room, there wasn’t anything particularly bothersome. Everyone said they wanted to come back again, so it turned out to be a great stay!

A wide variety of ingredients you can't finish.

Stayed on Sunday. The plan was 【Selection Sale】~Green Terrace~ featuring a buffet with local ingredients and all-you-can-eat crab. The variety of local ingredients was abundant, making it impossible to try everything. The crabs were small in size. Sashimi, steak, and other dishes were prepared in visible areas, which felt reassuring. Breakfast also offered a wide variety of options. There were open-air baths, cypress baths, waterfall showers, and even a surprising slide feature. It is within walking distance to the entrance of the Bear Park (Ropeway Station) and Noboribetsu Hell Valley.

Polarized quality at the same Hotel

If the price is around 10,000 yen per person, the quality of the Room and meals tends to be lower, while higher price ranges leave a better impression. Especially for Japanese-style Rooms, there is often an unpleasant smell, and they appear outdated as if untouched for 30 years, making one's own home feel much more comfortable. While budget allocation may play a role, even low-priced Rooms should maintain at least the same standard as typical Hotels.

    The bath is wonderful.

There are four types of baths, and the large open-air bath is wonderful. I felt it was a shame that details about the free-flowing hot spring water and the Onsen were not more prominently highlighted in larger text, as I would have read them more carefully. It was nice that dedicated toilet slippers and a towel were provided in the Room from the start. Since you need to take the Room towels to the bath, I think it would be helpful to have a bag for going to the bath.

I saw the Oni Festival for the first time.

I have stayed here several times before, but this year I visited for the first time during the Oni Festival. I enjoyed watching the festival and seeing the fireworks up close. The meal times and bath were not too crowded, so I could relax comfortably. All the dishes were to my liking, and the crab was delicious.

True to its name, the best open-air bath in Japan.

It was my first stay, and the baths were amazing! There were so many types of indoor and outdoor baths. The dinner buffet offered unlimited seafood, crab, and steak, along with a wide variety of other dishes. The breakfast buffet also had an overwhelming selection that I couldn't finish—absolutely satisfying!

    Enjoy a relaxing bath!

The number of baths is amazing, with various types of hot springs to enjoy. I even tried the slide multiple times by myself when no one was around, and as a 50-year-old woman, I had so much fun screaming like a kid—it was quite thrilling! It really brought back my childhood spirit. In the morning, I indulged in the baths starting from 4 AM! For meals, we dined at Green Terrace where crab was all-you-can-eat, and the à la carte dishes were also high quality and delicious. My son kept making seafood bowls with salmon roe and sweet shrimp. Staying here at this price is extremely satisfying. It's rare to find this level of accommodation near the Kanto region. We even talked as a family about how we'd love to come back if it were closer. This has become one of the accommodations I'd like to stay at again when visiting Hokkaido!

Please provide the text you would like me to improve.

The reception was slow, and there was no staff at the garage. The multi-story garage was narrow, leaving a less favorable impression. The meals were average, but the Onsen was excellent.

    This hotel seems to ...

This hotel seems to cater exclusively to groups. The large public bath features four square tubs, one of which is a weak bubble bath, along with a reclining bath and waterfall shower, but it lacks the charm of an Onsen. As for the meals, perhaps due to our aging taste buds, we found nothing particularly delicious. When we requested a dining knife from the staff, there was no response even after waiting for some time. After asking a second staff member with no result, it was only on the third attempt that we were told there were no knives available—terrible service. We also wanted to eat crab but gave up as there were no scissors provided and felt it wasn’t worth asking again. We will absolutely never return here again.

The bath was excellent, I would love to stay again.

The variety of baths was impressive, spacious, and very enjoyable. I tried them all. The milky white hot spring in the open-air bath was especially wonderful. The buffet at Green Terrace offered a wide selection, and everything was delicious. The crab served at dinner was thick and packed with meat, absolutely delightful. The steak was incredibly tasty—I even went back for seconds! With such great food and baths, I definitely want to stay here again.

    Dinner at Green Terrace

Dinner at GreenTerrace offered a variety of options, which was nice, but there were too many issues. 1. Empty plates were not cleared from the table. Even when I took them to what seemed like the collection area myself, no one noticed or responded until much later. Other guests also ended up taking their own empty plates to the collection area. 2. I ordered beer, but it was mistakenly placed on the neighboring table. The mistake was only discovered when someone at that table pointed it out. The receipt brought with the beer included my room number and full name, which felt like a breach of privacy. Additionally, placing beer on a table with children present is concerning—what if they had accidentally consumed it? When leaving, I handed over the receipt for room billing but wasn’t asked for a signature, which made me question whether everything would be handled correctly. If the neighboring table hadn’t reported the mistake and drank it instead, I might have been charged for something I didn’t consume without realizing until checkout due to lack of verification. I mentioned my concerns about misplacing receipts with personal information at checkout but felt that this issue wasn’t taken seriously. While there were other concerns beyond these incidents at GreenTerrace, it's disappointing because the Onsen experience itself was excellent. I've stayed in Onsen accommodations in other prefectures as well and found this experience unique in its own way—for better or worse depending on one's perspective!
