    It was wonderful.

    Thank you for your hospitality. The Room (Western-style) and the large public bath seemed to have been renovated, and they were clean, beautiful, and very pleasant. I would definitely like to visit again. The TV was also a large size. One point: I would like to suggest considering placing the ice scoop outside of the ice maker for hygiene reasons. Thank you very much.

During my stay, there seemed to be many groups visiting at once, which made it a bit lively and bustling. As I was traveling with family, it felt slightly overwhelming at times but understandable given it's an onsen town. The facility has been renovated in key areas, allowing for a pleasant and comfortable experience.

    Enjoyed French cuisine featuring mushrooms as the main ingredient at an Onsen Accommodation!

    This accommodation is located in the old onsen town of Kamiyamada Onsen. There is a French restaurant at the back of the first-floor lobby, offering dishes made with a variety of mushrooms. Choosing French cuisine for dinner at an onsen accommodation was unique, so we opted for this course instead of traditional Japanese kaiseki. The result? Both my wife and I were "extremely satisfied!" According to the chef, now and around May to June are recommended times to enjoy mushrooms. The onsen blends water from nine different sources; it has a slight sulfur scent but offers clear and excellent hot water. For those looking to enjoy something different from typical meals at an onsen accommodation, this option comes highly recommended.

    Grandchild's Shrine Visit

    We stayed at the accommodation with my daughter and her husband for my granddaughter's shrine visit. Room 502 had two rooms and a space for conversation, allowing us adults to enjoy talking after the grandchildren went to sleep, making for a relaxing evening. In the private open-air bath in the room, I was able to bathe with my grandchild. The Japanese-style meals were very luxurious, and even the children's dinner was thoughtfully prepared so that my granddaughter, who is not yet 2 years old, could eat by herself. They also prepared many gifts for our grandchildren, which made them very happy. We would love to visit again as three generations!

    My skin became smooth!

    After the summer heat subsided, I visited Kamiyamada Hotel to enjoy the Onsen in Nagano. The staff were very kind, and the natural hot spring had a faint sulfur scent when tasted, leaving my skin smooth and soft.

    We had a relaxing ti...

    We had a relaxing time as a couple. The Onsen was excellent, including the quality of the water. Although the age of the building and Facility was noticeable, the Room's interior had been renovated and posed no issues. As for improvements, we hope for better views from the windows and attention to withered plants. It would also be nice if tabi socks were provided with the yukata. We look forward to staying again.

    This is an accommodation I would like to use again.

    The onsen with natural flowing hot spring water and drinkable quality had a gentle sulfur scent, was clean, and absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed bathing four times. The changing room offered not only hot and cold water but also green tea and roasted brown rice tea, which was a nice touch. There were also shampoo and body soap for children available. The room was spacious, and the wooden floor felt pleasant to walk on barefoot, so I didn’t use the disposable slippers provided for the room. It had a retro charm with items like an old telephone and sewing box, while modern conveniences such as motion-sensor lighting in the bathroom made our stay comfortable. I was surprised to find two pairs of slippers prepared for the toilet area. The towels were color-coded with the hotel name printed on them—such thoughtful details! Dinner at Lapis Lazuli was delightful. The chef was very friendly, making explanations about each dish enjoyable. The food itself was incredibly delicious! Especially memorable was the soup made from various mushrooms that the chef personally gathered—it was exquisite! The apple bread and corn pie were so tasty that I wished they were available for purchase to take home. When I mentioned my birthday during reservation, they kindly prepared a dessert plate with a message along with a mini towel gift featuring another message—a lovely surprise! I couldn’t finish all of my dessert at dinner but brought it back to my room to enjoy as a late-night snack. This trip became an unforgettable birthday celebration—thank you very much!

    Onsen is amazing!

    To an Accommodation You'll Want to Visit Again

    The room facilities and bathroom area were thoughtfully arranged, leaving nothing lacking, making for a very comfortable stay. The meals were luxurious and delicious, leaving us full after every meal. Fresh hot spring water was generously flowing, and being able to drink it was truly wonderful. The young proprietress and all the staff were pleasant, creating a memorable accommodation we would love to visit again. Thank you for the recommendation!

    Cleanliness guaranteed.

    The latter half of summer vacation. A quiet town Onsen accommodation. Reasonably priced with delicious, well-prepared meals tailored for adults. The casually displayed Nara Hisao's clay dolls in the lobby give a sense of Nagano and Shinshu. A place I would love to visit again. The baths are wonderful.

    I enjoyed the wonderful Onsen three times. The atmosphere of the Showa-era Ryokan, warm hospitality, and delicious meals were very satisfying. Above all, the excellent value for money was truly impressive.

    Hidden Onsen Accommodation

    It was the festival season, so the area was lively at night. The onsen town had a nostalgic atmosphere, reminiscent of the early Showa era. The hotel had a young proprietress, and the interior was clean and renovated, providing an excellent environment to relax in the onsen. All staff members were friendly and provided warm service with smiles. Although we arrived early, they kindly allowed us to check in ahead of time, and we enjoyed multiple visits to the bath—it was truly an exceptional accommodation. Meals were individually prepared with great care and were delicious. Both breakfast and dinner were served in a private room where we could dine leisurely. It’s an accommodation I would love to visit again. If it could be offered at a more affordable price, I would return immediately!

    The Onsen is excellent.

    The day after my birthday, I visited with great anticipation. However, the Room I was guided to lacked privacy and had a poor view. Although I was moved to another Room, the bathtub was cracked—what's going on with this Hotel?

    Take a refreshing break.

    My close classmates decided to visit the onsen, so I made a reservation. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay together, but my friends mentioned that the bath, meals, and hospitality were excellent and asked me to send their regards to the proprietress and young proprietress. The newly renovated large bath was wonderful, and it seems they felt refreshed at this onsen ryokan surrounded by nature.

    We had a wonderful time.

    The room we stayed in was a twin room. It was very clean as it had been recently renovated. While there were remnants of the previous design, they were thoughtfully preserved, allowing us to feel the history of the accommodation. The onsen featured 100% natural flowing hot spring water, with a clean bath area and an open-air bath where we could enjoy the ripples of overflowing water while feeling the breeze, presumably from the Chikuma River, making us lose track of time. We also used a private bath for free as it was available at no extra charge. The meals, both dinner and breakfast, were delicious and made with local ingredients. The staff were kind and welcoming, making our one-night stay feel much longer in a good way. We would love to visit again!

    Highly satisfied.

    Despite changing the Plan multiple times during the Reservation process, we were surprised to find that our Room had been upgraded without notice. The Room and private open-air Onsen were incredibly spacious for just two people. Even on a chilly day in May, we enjoyed the private open-air Onsen multiple times without worrying about time, making it a truly relaxing and indulgent Onsen experience. The water was smooth, leaving our skin soft and supple. The public bath and outdoor Onsen within the Hotel were also clean and well-maintained. While the exterior of the annex building appeared slightly dated, the interior featured beautiful stained glass accents that created a charming atmosphere. Personally, I thought it would have been even more delightful if there had been more stained glass in certain areas. The meals were visually appealing with creative presentations using local ingredients, leaving us fully satisfied. A few points of concern during this stay: - The handle on the door to our private open-air Onsen was difficult to use due to damage where it made contact. - The shower only produced cold water throughout our stay. - While women were provided with colorful yukata as an additional option, it would have been nice if men also had an extra set for changing. Although my feedback has become lengthy, I must emphasize how friendly and accommodating all staff members were. We truly had an exceptional time at your Accommodation. Unfortunately, due to bad weather during this trip, we decided not to visit Kurobe Dam. However, we look forward to staying here again on our next visit!

    Visited during Golden Week.

    We visited with three generations of our family to celebrate my mother's 88th birthday. Although we were a large group of seven, the Room was spacious and comfortable. The meals were delicious, and the thoughtful touches for the celebration made my mother very happy. Thank you very much!

    Stay for couples and mothers

    Stayed with elderly mothers. We were guided by elevator in areas with steps, and we appreciated having a room near the large public bath and a dining venue that required minimal walking. Meals were finely chopped for easy eating, which was very thoughtful. It would have been nice if the sliding doors were lighter or if there were screens in the room, but we could relax both in the large public bath and the private bathroom. It was a wonderful experience to show gratitude to my parents. Thank you for your hospitality!

    The dinner course at "Lapis Lazuli" is exceptional.

    It was a Plan where you could enjoy an authentic French dinner course, and as always, the dining experience at "Lapis Lazuli" was top-notch in both taste and service. The newly renovated large public bath features beautiful stained glass, and being able to use the ReFa hairdryer is also a delightful point. The Room's open-air bath was quite comfortable as well, and I would love to use it again (preferably with the same Plan).

    New Year's trip with friends

    I used this place for a trip to Shinshu with friends. Onsen Ryokans are usually very expensive due to high prices, but Kamiyamada Hotel was reasonably priced, so I decided quickly. The room was spacious and had a sense of cleanliness. For breakfast and dinner, we enjoyed our meals in a semi-private room, allowing for privacy. I took a bath in the proud Onsen three times: before dinner, after dinner, and after breakfast. I would like to stay again when I visit Shinshu.

    I have stayed in rooms with open-air baths in various places, but

    The open-air bath in Room 503 of this Stays was accessible without any temperature adjustment even in early December. Moreover, it was a mysterious water that was neither too hot nor too cold, even after staying in for a long time. Before entering the bath, it was quite cold, but once in the water, the wind felt pleasant. Later, I asked the staff at the Property how they adjusted the temperature, and they said they don't heat it at all, so some guests find it lukewarm in winter. In the end, it might have been a mere coincidence, but having struggled with temperature adjustments in open-air baths attached to rooms before, I was able to enjoy an exquisite Onsen experience along with the quality of the spring water. Despite staying for only one night, I ended up taking a bath four times, including in the large public bath. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of the open-air bath in the Room.

    The exterior is old, but the Room has been beautifully renovated.

    As others have mentioned, there are few amenities, the hairdryer is basic, and there are no water bottles in the Room, so it's a hassle to go to the vending machine to buy them (not available on each floor). However, the hot water is so good that everything else becomes irrelevant, haha. The hot spring water is sulfurous, but it completely stopped my extremely dry skin from itching. I wanted to stay in a Room with a bath, but it seemed to be sold out on the weekend, so I used the private bath, which was excellent. There seem to be about eight Rooms with open-air baths, and I never encountered anyone in the open-air bath on the first floor. I also didn't have to wait for the private bath.

    A hamburger and fried fish sandwich is too heavy for breakfast (as other people's reviews say). It would be better to have something simple like bread, fried eggs, sausages, or ham. It was my first time making my own coffee for breakfast and carrying my luggage to the room after check-in. It might be worth the price... However, I could tell that the foreign staff were very good at Japanese and worked hard.

    The Onsen is nice an...

    The Onsen is nice and the staff's service is very pleasant, but there is some dissatisfaction with the Facility. It's disappointing that the vending machine is only at the front desk and there is no welcome drink (water) in the Room. It's inconvenient that there is no power outlet where the kettle is placed in the Room, and only tap water is available; it would be better if there was a water purifier, etc.

    I wanted to know the variety of apples used in the dessert, so I asked the Nakai-san, but they didn't know. They asked the head chef, but since the ingredients are sourced fresh daily, they couldn't confirm. The next day, I received a report from the young proprietress. Even for such a small matter, the communication and response were thorough and kind at the Ryokan, allowing my spouse and I to leave in a good mood.

    I was able to relax at Kamiyamada Hotel after a long time. The Onsen was also wonderful, and my skin became smooth. The open-air bath in the room was also pleasant. I was glad to be able to enter the stained glass Venus bath at the end. Next time, I would like to come to try the newly renovated bath.
