I was satisfied.
We were satisfied with the Room, the bath, and the meals. The staff were all very pleasant, and valet service was free. If I had to ask for more, it would have been nice if the bath in the Room had been an Onsen. Also, I wish there had been towels in the private bath so we wouldn’t have had to go back to the Room to get them after forgetting. Also, the toothbrush package in the Room was torn and contained one without toothpaste. It was replaced right away, but it felt a bit unpleasant.

Everything about this Accommodation was outstanding! I’d love to stay again!!!

On my first trip to Gifu
The location was convenient for exploring the historic streets, and the newly renovated interior felt fresh and pleasant. I especially enjoyed the lounge service with alcoholic drinks and snacks—it was exciting and a lot of fun. The meals were also very delicious, and the tableware was beautiful. On the other hand, a few disappointing points: there was an unpleasant smell coming from the Room air conditioning throughout my stay; the in-room bath only has a window, so describing it as a “semi-open-air bath” does not feel accurate; and I could not tell from IKYU’s website that parking would be charged. As for service, most staff were pleasant, but a few had very little smile and their words felt lacking in hospitality. That left me with the biggest disappointment. Dinner was served in a private room and our attendant was good, but because the upper part of the walls is open, conversations can be heard between rooms. When staff became busy handling issues in the neighboring private room, our dishes stopped coming altogether. We waited quite a long time, and even when they finally arrived there was no particular apology. In addition to the improved facilities after renovation, I believe many items could be addressed immediately—clearer information on the website, better service consistency, and cleaning/maintenance of the air conditioning. Since what truly defines an Accommodation is its people, focusing on that would make this Accommodation even better. As one of my Reservation conditions required posting a Review, I am submitting this feedback.

Highly Rated Accommodation
When staying in Takayama, I wanted an Accommodation with a traditional atmosphere, but also with updated bathrooms and other water facilities, so I searched on IKYU and chose this Accommodation. The bath in our Room was very spacious and more than enough for relaxing, and since the private bath was available before dinner, we were able to enjoy a soak after strolling around town. Both dinner and breakfast were beautifully prepared and truly delicious. The Hida beef was exceptional. The Room amenities were excellent—amenities, a ReFa hair dryer, beer and juice in the refrigerator, slippers, and more—and my husband said the coffee he had on the lounge terrace in the morning felt wonderful. Shirakawa-go and Takayama were both very hot, but we were able to relax at this Accommodation. We would love to visit again in a different season.

Thank you very much.
I was able to spend time in a quiet environment. The Room bath was deep and had a wide rim, which made it difficult to get in. It may be designed for taller guests, but the private bath was great.

Visited during a trip to Takayama.
On this trip, I stayed here while visiting Takayama with my parents. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a welcome drink and warabi mochi. The warabi mochi was especially delicious, and it was a lovely touch. All the staff were very courteous, and we had a comfortable stay throughout. The second-floor lounge was also very cozy. The selection of drinks changed depending on the time of day, so we could relax and enjoy various beverages and snacks at our own pace. It was great that we could truly unwind at the Accommodation as well. The Room was clean, and both the toilet and bath were spotless and comfortable. Dinner featuring Hida beef was excellent, and we were very satisfied. We enjoyed a meal unique to Takayama, which became a wonderful memory of this trip. Breakfast portions were just right, but I personally couldn’t eat much sashimi in the morning, so I would have been even happier if there had been fruit as well. Overall, the staff’s attentive service and the calm atmosphere inside the property were wonderful. It’s an Accommodation I would definitely like to stay at again when visiting Takayama.

A Warm and Cozy Accommodation
Everything exceeded our expectations in every way. The Room was spacious, spotless, and very well maintained. Every staff member was friendly and provided warm, welcoming service. The meals were delicious, and the private Onsen allowed us to relax at our own pace—it was perfect. We would love to visit again in a different season.

We made wonderful memories.
We stayed here on a mother-and-daughter trip. It was our first time in Takayama, and choosing this Accommodation was absolutely the right decision! It was conveniently located near the old town streets and the morning market, making sightseeing easy, and everything—from the atmosphere of the Accommodation to the Room layout and the meals—was wonderful. More Accommodations seem to offer lounge access these days, but this lounge’s calm ambiance and excellent drink selection were especially appealing. When I mentioned that we were also celebrating my daughter’s birthday, they surprised us by preparing a birthday dessert plate—thank you so much. We also loved being able to relax in a private bath and enjoy the Onsen at our own pace. If we could have, we would have stayed one more night... Not only were all the staff wonderful, but Takayama is full of kind people with warm smiles, which made this a truly memorable trip. We’d love to come back and stay again in a different season.

They were able to store our car before check-in, which was very helpful since we planned to eat Takayama ramen and visit local sake breweries. After I called in advance, they even prepared an annotated map for us ahead of time. Unfortunately, I had a bit too much to drink at the breweries and couldn’t enjoy it, but the lounge offered draft beer and sake, and there were also complimentary drinks in the Room refrigerator. The private Onsen was not crowded at all; we enjoyed a spacious bath and could relax our tired bodies with the massage chair. The Hida beef was tender and delicious. The Room was spacious and very clean.

“Excellent!”
Everything was excellent! The service was courteous and kind, the Room was clean, and the in-room bath was always filled with hot water and ready to use at any time. The meals were delicious, and all the drinks and light snacks in the lounge were wonderful as well! This is an Accommodation I would definitely love to visit again.

It was quiet and relaxing.
Thank you very much for everything. Our third Room was spacious, and the wide-seated sofa was so comfortable that we truly enjoyed relaxing in the Room. Perhaps because of that, we only used the private bath (Premium) once. I believe you were fully booked, but the property was quiet throughout, and we were able to unwind in the lounge without any crowds. At night, my husband went to a nearby convenience store to buy some alcohol to enjoy in our Room—he said the nighttime town atmosphere might be nice as well. We also talked about doing a Multiple Night Stay and having one meal at a recommended local restaurant. The time we spent chatting with the proprietress—especially her Takayama tips—was truly enjoyable, and I think it’s one of Ichiryu’s greatest charms. As I’ve gotten older my appetite has decreased, and I’m sorry for leaving some of the meal. Next time, we may ask if the portions can be adjusted. Thank you again to the proprietress and all of your staff.

A lovely Accommodation in Takayama
The Room was spacious, and we were able to use the in-house lounge Facility casually and comfortably. Both dinner and breakfast were high quality, easy to enjoy, and delicious. The bath in the Room was large, which was great; however, although it was my own oversight for not confirming beforehand, I was disappointed that it was not an Onsen. All of the private family baths are Onsen, so we really enjoyed them. I would love to stay here again when we visit Takayama.

I was satisfied.
I stayed at Ichiryu while visiting the sake breweries in Hida Takayama. I upgraded my meal to Hida beef, and it was outstanding. The staff’s warm smiles and thoughtful hospitality made my stay even more comfortable. Hida Takayama isn’t close from Tokyo, but I’d gladly stay at Ichiryu again when I visit.

Appreciation for your thoughtful consideration
It was an Accommodation where thoughtfulness and attentive care truly stood out. At check-in, we were welcomed with warm words and kind eyes, and when we entered the Room, a gentle handwritten message had been left for us. When it was time for dinner and we headed to the dining area, a light drizzle began… and two staff members were waiting with umbrellas. When we stopped by the front desk to ask about sightseeing spots, they immediately handed us a map and explained how to get there with a smile. So much consideration was shown in these small, unassuming gestures. It was a moment that made us truly glad we stayed here. Thank you very much.

The only Accommodation in Takayama that I truly thought was great. Choosing it was the right decision.
One item on my mother’s end-of-life planning list is “to visit places full of memories, and places she has never been,” so we’ve been traveling to different destinations every month. This was the first time for both my mother and me to visit Hida-Takayama. When choosing an Accommodation, my deciding factors are: newly built or renovated within the last three years, a polished official website, and tableware in the food photos that doesn’t feel outdated. This was the only place in Takayama that made me think “this is it,” so I booked almost immediately. Upon arrival, a male staff member greeted us right away and took care of valet parking. The parking map we received later was also very clear (including one-way streets), and I appreciated that extra attention to detail. The female staff member who guided us from check-in to our room was also calm and pleasant, making us feel at ease. At the room entrance there was a butler box like you see at international hotels, allowing us to receive loan items without face-to-face contact. It was my first time seeing this at a Ryokan, and it felt refreshingly new. The bathroom amenities were all ReFa—not only the shower head and hair dryer but even the shampoo set. There was also a Sekkisei kit for women; however, I was slightly disappointed there were no skincare amenities for men. The bathtub is quite high with no handrail or step stool, so my mother seemed to struggle a bit, but she was very satisfied with how spacious the bathroom was overall. Dinner featured beautiful tableware and everything tasted wonderful. We eat quickly and often end up waiting between courses elsewhere, but here the pacing—from start to finish—was perfect. The same male staff member who welcomed us also served our dinner. Since we don’t like overly attentive service, his comfortable sense of distance and natural conversation felt just right. The recommended ginger ale was delicious as well. For the private bath(s), we could check availability via QR code, and we also appreciated services like massage chairs and herbal tea. Breakfast was excellent too; however, since we’re night owls who prefer sleeping until around 10:00 even while traveling—and since there doesn’t seem to be a dinner Plan—would it be possible to book No Meals Included and then add dinner only later by phone or similar? We stayed on a great-value Plan this time, but even small details—like perfectly round ice in the lounge—showed that costs are thoughtfully invested throughout. I felt it would be well worth staying even at the regular rate. After checkout we strolled through the Miyagawa Morning Market before visiting Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall as you recommended. Next time we’d like to go as far as Shin-Hotaka as well—and would love to stay with you again. Thank you very much for everything.

Family Trip
We stayed for two nights with meals included. The meals were different on each day, and we were very satisfied with the attentive hospitality both times. The staff shared local weather information with us, which helped us adjust our travel plans smoothly. The Room was excellent, and we were able to relax in comfort. The private Onsen bath was very clean, and we could unwind at our leisure. We also enjoyed draft beer and local Hida sake in the lounge. We would love to visit again if we have the opportunity.

A gourmet Accommodation you’ll love—even without seeing the cherry blossoms along the Miyagawa River.
In addition to IKYU, the Accommodation’s official website provides detailed information. The Accommodation is surrounded by one-way streets, but your car navigation system can guide you accurately to the entrance. Even on a one-way street, the area in front of the entrance is quite spacious, so you can unload calmly. After valet service parks your car in the designated lot, they will tell you the exact parking location, so you can easily go and retrieve anything you may have forgotten. The Room is as comfortable as described online. Higher floors apparently offer better views. The in-room bath is spacious and kept at a comfortable temperature 24/7. Even a large adult can stretch out and soak up to the shoulders; it seems big enough for a family of four to bathe together. It is an open-view bath, though on lower floors the view is mainly of neighboring buildings. The amenities provided include sports towels; depending on your preference, you may want to bring a face towel (Onsen towel). The premium lounge “BASE” and “Black (Irori)” form one large, comfortable space connected to the terrace. Along with fine drinks, handmade snacks are provided and replenished frequently. The two complimentary private baths are available on a first-come basis—if vacant, simply lock the door and use them. They appear to have once been large gender-separated baths and are spacious and relaxing. Including the baths, the entire property is exceptionally clean. Meals are served in private rooms in an annex across the road from the main entrance. As this is not an exclusive high-end restaurant designed for confidential conversations, some rooms allow voices from neighboring rooms to be heard. Excellent cuisine pairs well with local drinks, and service during meals is attentive. Staff across all departments are proactive in offering assistance; their hospitality is outstanding—enthusiastic, kind, and consistently professional throughout.

I had been looking forward to this Accommodation, but it was disappointing. The service at check-in was average. In the lounge, some drinks were out of stock and the food selection was limited. The Room was nice, but the bath had a large step between the floor and the tub; stairs and handrails would make it safer. I was also looking forward to the meals, but although there was a lot of food, the flavors were not to our taste. Finally, I don’t think it’s appropriate to contact guests just one day before their stay to change the time for a private bath that we had reserved two months in advance because it overlaps with another guest’s booking.

The Room is wonderful.
We stayed in the Room called “Yoshika.” The size, design, and bath were excellent—nothing to complain about. Thoughtful touches like a lighted mirror were a nice detail. The lounge was also very comfortable. We appreciated that there was no background music in the building. It was truly relaxing. If I had to mention a couple of points: 1. The steak at dinner had too much marbling and wasn’t to my taste. 2. The smartphone charging cable in the Room was broken, so my phone hadn’t charged by morning.

Overall, it’s a nice accommodation, but there were a few disappointing points.
This was my second stay. I had a relaxing and comfortable time. The Room was spacious and very nice. I was able to use the private bath without any stress, and I could also relax quietly in the lounge. This time again I didn’t have much room left, so I could only try three of the snacks that looked delicious (lol). I really liked the Choju-giga goods. I wished there were also items featuring the exact artwork displayed in the lounge. There were a few issues with dinner this time... The dishes weren’t served in the order listed on the menu, the timing was off, and an ingredient I had told you I couldn’t eat was included in a substantial way. The meat portion was large and too tough to chew. It’s not a perfect score, but the location and facilities are great. All of your staff made a very good impression, and I would like to stay with you again. To Mr./Ms. M whom I spoke with at checkout—please tell me more about Takayama next time as well. Thank you very much.

It was the best trip ever!
I made a Reservation just a few days before my trip because I wanted to enjoy local street food, and this was an amazing Ryokan! They have free parking, and the service, the Room, and the meals were all excellent. I stayed in the Room called “Enku,” and everything felt new—the toilet and vanity mirror were high quality, and the shower head, shampoo, treatment, and hair dryer were all ReFa products, which was great. There are also three types of private baths, and I really enjoyed them. What I loved most was the lounge: the snacks and drinks change depending on the time of day, and you can relax by the irori hearth or on the sofa while trying different drinks—it felt like heaven. I wished I could have stayed for many nights! Thank you very much!

Ultimate Hospitality
The meals were exceptional, allowing us to fully enjoy Hida beef, and every dish was delicious! There was a great variety of private baths, and above all, the hospitality was outstanding! The birthday celebration was absolutely perfect! Thank you so much!

Everything was satisfactory.
Thank you very much for your hospitality. First, I was surprised to see how young all the staff members were. Their polite and kind service made our stay very pleasant. Although stepping outside to reach the dining area was a bit chilly, the meal portions were just right for our age, and each dish was carefully prepared. Everything was delicious, but we were especially amazed by the tenderness and flavor of the Hida beef. The breakfast items like Hoba Miso and Kono Tofu were also excellent—we even bought some Kono Tofu at a supermarket to take home! I appreciated the amenities provided, such as Refa products and Sekkisei skincare items. We thoroughly enjoyed using the private bath as well. Honestly, I couldn’t find anything to critique for improvement—it was perfect! We will definitely stay here again when we visit Takayama next time. Thank you so much!

It was a great accommodation.
This was my first time staying here. The meals were delicious, and the amenities and equipment were excellent (especially the fully equipped ReFa products). The only concern was that the dining area was in a separate building, and it felt cold when moving between buildings, likely due to the season. What stood out the most was the exceptional service. Thanks to the staff's thoughtful hospitality, including shuttle service to the station, handling unexpected situations, and providing information about nearby shops, I had a wonderful trip. If I have another opportunity, I would love to stay here again.

Recommended Ryokan in Hida Takayama
The meals were satisfying, but for a Ryokan in this price range, they seemed standard. Of course, everything was delicious and there were no complaints—this is just an observation. The guest room was excellent as well, but it would be even better if the Room's bath was also Onsen water. The private Onsen on the first floor was fantastic, and I used it multiple times. As for any downsides? That’s about it! The lounge offered unlimited access to alcohol and light amusements! Drinks in the Room were also all-inclusive. Above all, the hospitality deserves six stars—it was truly exceptional. With its perfect location, I highly recommend considering this Accommodation when staying in Takayama!

The meals were unfortunately quite disappointing.
The room is spacious and clean. However, the tatami area felt underutilized, and it would be nice to have a reading chair or desk. The towels are fluffy but oddly not absorbent, leaving a chilly feeling after use. The staff's dedication was evident, providing pleasant service. The room's bath is large and clean, available anytime, but since the window doesn't open, it isn't a semi-open-air bath. The private Onsen can also be used anytime and is similarly spacious and clean. As for meals at this Hida beef specialty Ryokan, one of the three pieces of sautéed meat served was too tough to eat on the first night. On the second night, the raw meat was too hard to be considered sashimi-like. Breakfasts on both days were simple without grilled fish or pickled red turnips—somewhat disappointing compared to expectations. In Izu or Hakone areas with similar pricing, there are many places offering rooms with Onsen open-air baths and delicious meals. Excluding meals from consideration though, this Ryokan’s location allowed easy walking access to attractions like old town streets, Hida Kokubunji Temple, Nakabashi Bridge as well as enjoying stunning autumn foliage at Shiroyama Park, Hie Shrine & Higashiyama Walking Course during our enjoyable 2-night stay!

Three women, fully satisfied with both the food and the room. It was a bit disappointing that the room's bath was not an Onsen, but the private bath on the first floor had excellent water quality. The location was very convenient for sightseeing. All the staff were kind and helpful. Even though it was outside of check-out hours, they kindly gave us a ride to the station—thank you so much!

Not the best value for money.
The room was very clean and beautiful, but at this price, the bathroom in the room was not an onsen, and I was surprised to see canned peaches served as dessert during the meal. I always stay at accommodations of this class across the whole country, but this is the first time I've encountered an accommodation using canned fruit. If it were a budget accommodation, I could understand; however, the meal quality is average, and there are no amenities like mouthwash or shower caps. When explaining about the room, staff did not mention where slippers were placed. I feel that more attention to detail is needed in various aspects of this accommodation.
