    It was excellent.

    The location is excellent, close to Yubatake. The Facility is new, the Room was comfortable, and the in-room Onsen was wonderful. Having to take off shoes to get to the Room was a bit inconvenient, but I assume this is part of the Facility’s concept, so it’s understandable. The only area for improvement was that the towels were not very absorbent, but it wasn’t a big issue. I would stay here again if I have the opportunity.

    Bath towels are...

    The Room was compact and well laid out, with no wasted space. The staff were also kind and gave us helpful information. The private Onsen bath in each Room can be used with the shade lowered, so you can’t see the outside view. Still, the fresh air felt great and we were able to relax while bathing. However, the bath towel felt heavily worn—the fabric had become thin and it got soaked after just one bath, which was very uncomfortable. Even though we wanted to enjoy Kusatsu Onsen several times, with towels like this… (Other than the bath towel, only face towels were provided.) We tried drying it with a hair dryer, but that wasn’t really workable. The next morning we went to the front desk to ask for a new bath towel. (They quickly provided one, but it was also quite thin from wear.) This is not a cheap Hotel, and since this trip was specifically to enjoy the Onsen, it was especially disappointing.

    We had a great time.

    This was my first trip to Kusatsu Onsen, and I stayed here. It was truly close to Yubatake in the town center, making it convenient for visiting various shops. I drove, and being able to park for free at the parking lot of an affiliated Hotel was very helpful. I didn’t use the shuttle bus because the timing didn’t work out, but it was easily walkable. I booked No Meals Included, but I was happy they still provided a light breakfast. We received about four small side dishes such as mixed rice, miso soup, and kinpira, which was more than enough to enjoy. The Room was just the right size for two people. The sofa had a firmness that made it great for dozing off, and my husband liked it. I recommend this Accommodation for those who want to explore outside—snacking around town and enjoying the Onsen—then come back to rest a bit before heading out again. One downside was that the open-air bath in the Room became lukewarm quickly; when I think of Kusatsu Onsen, I imagine hot baths. Since it cooled down quickly even in summer, I wondered if this Room would be difficult to choose in winter. Also, it was disappointing that towels didn’t dry easily after one use. There are tea bags on the second floor as well, but unfortunately the coffee machine there wasn’t working—I wanted to try it. Overall, having No Meals Included and being able to do things freely on my own schedule was a fun experience. If I visit Kusatsu Onsen again, I’d like to try a different Room next time.     Business Hotel with an Open-Air Bath

    The service was disappointing. Some staff were courteous, but others were terrible. If you think of it as a Business Hotel with an open-air bath, the location is good and there are no issues.

    The male staff’s service was

    The male staff member was so unfriendly that it didn’t feel like hospitality service at all. When we took the bus to dinner, we couldn’t find the location and called many times, but no one answered, which was very frustrating. It’s a shame because the Facility and Onsen were great.

    The Room is clean, has an Onsen bath, and is close to Yubatake—there were no issues overall. However, the towels were very thin and not very absorbent. The towel on the first day smelled, and the second day’s towel (a new one) also had a damp smell or a sweaty odor. I’ve never had this kind of experience with towels anywhere I’ve stayed before, so it left me feeling uneasy.

    It was an excellent Accommodation. Having a bath in the Room was wonderful. Just one thing: the towels are not very absorbent, so I would be happy if you could switch to more absorbent ones.

    It feels like a Busi...

    It feels like a Business Hotel with an Onsen. So it’s best not to expect much in terms of front desk hospitality or service. The balcony-like area visible from the bathtub looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a long time and was pitch-black, and there were multiple footprints—I'm not sure if they were from the previous guest or the cleaning staff, but I was shocked when I noticed them. That said, the Onsen really lived up to Kusatsu standards, and the quality of the hot spring water in the in-Room bath was excellent!

    It was a great Hotel!

    Both the Room and the open-air bath were clean, and it was a very comfortable Hotel. The location was also convenient, making it easy to get anywhere, including Yubatake and the shops, which was great! Just one point: The towels provided in the Room were not very absorbent, so it took quite a while to dry off. I would be happy if that could be improved. Overall, it felt more comfortable than the price would suggest, so if the towel issue is resolved, I would like to stay again.

    After all, I think so too.

    Since our stay last year was excellent, we visited again this year and upgraded our Room. The in-room bath was amazing. Everything was wonderful, but the towels were a bit worn, which concerned me slightly. Still, I would like to stay here again.

    It was really great! The perfect balance at the highest level.

    Since it’s still fairly new, the building itself was incredibly clean and beautiful! I booked last-minute for a trip, happened to find this Accommodation recommended, and stayed with No Meals Included by making a same-day Reservation. Honestly, the Room was even better than the photos! Since it was last-minute I compromised and chose the cheapest Room, but it turned out to be an amazing find. For this price, the Room was stylish, spotless, and you could really feel the attention to detail. The in-room open-air bath was fantastic. The view depends on the location so that part is a bit of a compromise, but I don’t think it will bother most people. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that I wish there were a small chair in the bathing area—and there were no hair ties in the Room, so women might have a little trouble with their hair. The hot spring water quality is truly great and makes you want to soak again and again, so I definitely think they should provide at least a small chair for taking breaks—and also more towels. I managed by hanging one of those wooden bath-stirring boards on the edge and using it like a footbath setup (lol). You’ll understand once you go! It’s also in a really convenient location, and considering what you get for the price, it has to be one of the best options around there. In Kusatsu there are many Accommodations with overpriced rates that take advantage of guests, so I hope places like this inspire others (or put them out of business) (lol). If you’re looking for No Meals Included and just want an easy stay without fussing over extras, this is top-tier. It’s also great that you don’t have much contact with staff (though their service was good!). Anyone complaining at this price probably just can’t afford it—so feel free to ignore them. Please keep making small improvements while maintaining what makes this place great. Thank you very much!

    I was a bit confused by the concept.

    The open-air bath attached to the Room was wonderful, and the Room itself was very comfortable. For a Multiple Night Stay, a Room with a kitchen is really helpful. We were able to use it neatly for drinks and snacks we bought outside. The wire for the outer bath curtain had snapped, but they responded quickly with a temporary fix. As for the staff, some were genuinely caring while others were purely businesslike, which was honestly disappointing. At check-in, the front desk staff kindly gave appropriate recommendations for nearby places to eat. At check-out, however, they pointed me to the payment machine without discussion and spoke as if it were only natural—despite there being three or more staff at reception. It felt just like a Business Hotel. I didn’t use it because I had a car, but for luggage storage they encouraged using lockers (for an Accommodation of this class, I really wish they wouldn’t). People say “all’s well that ends well,” but I couldn’t accept the concept that still felt like a Business Hotel in the end.

    I stayed with the No...

    I stayed with the No Meals Included plan. The open-air bath in the guest room was excellent. I stayed in a Standard Room, and it was spacious enough, very clean, and extremely comfortable. The front desk staff were also very pleasant. Just one thing: there was a lot of dust on the air conditioner filter, so I couldn’t turn it on. Everything else was great, so that was the only disappointment.

    A style that may feel unfamiliar to elderly Japanese guests.

    The Room was spacious, and the amenities felt premium—wooden brushes, high-end skincare products, and even a hair iron—so I think younger guests would appreciate them. The purpose of this trip was the Onsen. This Hotel has an open-air bath in every Room and no large public bath. However, rather than enjoying an outdoor view, it is simply a bathtub. The hot water keeps running continuously (is it free-flowing?), and if it is drawn directly from the source, the temperature is far too hot to enter without adding quite a lot of cold water. Even after holding down the cold-water button for several minutes, it barely cooled down, so I contacted the front desk. However, they repeatedly told me to add cold water myself. Although they said to contact them if I had trouble lowering the temperature, their response was disappointing. In the end, I only used the bath once. Even after cooling it down, hot water kept flowing in so it quickly became too hot again; thinking about having to keep pressing the cold-water button made me not want to use it. I also tried adding cold water with the showerhead into the tub, but it truly would not cool down. Kusatsu is famous for very hot spring water, but this felt excessive. Also, while there was a small wooden bucket for scooping water by hand, there was no wash basin bucket; you have to wash using only the shower. The wooden floor under the shower had gaps wide enough that my foot almost got caught between boards. It wobbled when walking on it—something that should be noticeable even during cleaning. Drainage was poor as well; even in the morning it was still wet. After check-in there was no escort to my Room and I had to carry my own luggage. You scan a barcode and look up information on a website from there, but there isn’t much information available. There is no phone in the Room; contacting reception requires calling an external number from your smartphone or going there in person. It seems like a difficult system for elderly guests. One more concern: The towels in my Room felt damp somehow. They were hung on something like towel warmers often seen in Western hotels, but it wasn’t warm and they stayed damp. The location is close to Yubatake and convenient for enjoying multiple baths around town as well. If you’re going to put effort into managing your private bath temperature here, I think you’re better off doing an outside-bath tour instead. Dinner was sukiyaki. The sauce reduced into something quite sweet over time, so I wished they provided some extra water (for adjusting). The beef was tender and delicious. Overall, this place seems designed mainly for international guests and may be challenging for elderly Japanese travelers. For the price point, I didn’t feel that service matched expectations. Many of the guests appeared to be young couples as well.

    Accommodation where you can easily enjoy Kusatsu Onsen

    Last time I stayed in the annex, but this time I used the main building for the first time. I was surprised there was no telephone, but I like it as an Accommodation where you can easily enjoy Kusatsu Onsen. I will visit again.

    Even without meals, you’ll have everything you need.

    It was my first time visiting Kusatsu, and there are plenty of restaurants around Yubatake, so as long as you go in the early evening, you won’t have trouble finding a place to eat. The Hotel restaurant was fully booked for Reservation, but it seemed like we could still get in. Both the Hotel and the Room were very clean. The Onsen bath in the Room uses very hot water that you cool down with cold water, so it’s fun if you enjoy preparing it and mixing it yourself. There is no large public bath, but there are many nearby public baths and affordable day-use Onsen facilities, so it wasn’t an issue. After check-out, they won’t store your luggage; there are coin lockers for 500 yen. It was modern and spotless, and warm (maybe underfloor heating), which was great. Breakfast is free. They ask what time you’ll go, but it’s better to go early—self-serve side dishes run out quickly.

    Annex Ruri

    This time, I stayed at Bettei Ruri. I was satisfied with the front desk service and the Room. One disappointing thing was that several staff members from the café on the first floor of the annex were chatting loudly until around 11:00 p.m. If it had been open, it would be understandable, but the shop had already closed in the evening... My partner also said it was a bit noisy. I believe it was advertised as a quiet detached annex. Since there is no in-room extension phone, I called and asked for assistance. It was disappointing because this was an important trip for the two of us. Other than that, everything was great with no complaints. We initially talked about wanting to stay in all of the annex rooms, but now we’re hesitating a bit. If the Hotel can read this and make improvements, I would definitely like to try staying in two more Rooms.

    Simply outstanding.

    The room, staff service, meals, private open-air bath attached to the room, and location—everything was flawless at this wonderful accommodation. It is not inexpensive, but if you want to fully enjoy Kusatsu Onsen Town, this accommodation is the perfect choice! I will definitely visit again.

    A luxurious Onsen Ryokan like a high-end Hotel

    I stayed for two days and one night. Since it was right after the New Year, I was able to stay at an affordable price. As I had a small child, I wanted a room with a private open-air bath and found Yubatake Sensui while searching. The ryokan looked very luxurious online, but when I visited in person, its location near the heart of Kusatsu Onsen's "Yubatake" was excellent, and the hotel's luxury stood out compared to other ryokans. Being so close to Yubatake while enjoying such comfort made me very satisfied. However, there were no chairs for small children in the dinner venue, which made feeding my child a bit challenging. Additionally, the parking lot is quite far and only accessible by shuttle bus, which can be inconvenient for families with lots of children's belongings. The guest room itself had facilities that allowed us to enjoy our stay even with a small child. While there were some minor inconveniences overall, we were supported by the thoughtful care of the staff (especially from one young female staff member whose attentiveness was wonderful—thank you!). Although it's not somewhere we can visit frequently, I would definitely like to stay here again on my next trip to Kusatsu Onsen!

    First Time in Kusatsu

    A very modern and smart Hotel. It is conveniently located near the Yubatake, and there are many restaurants nearby, making it enjoyable to dine out at night. The Room was clean, spacious, and satisfying. One point for improvement would be having a chair in the shower room. It would also be nice to have extra bath towels available. Since the Room is spacious, a more effective humidifier during autumn and winter seasons would make it even more comfortable. The complimentary breakfast service was delicious and very satisfying. I look forward to staying here again soon. Thank you!

    This was my first trip to Kusatsu, and I stayed at this Hotel. I was very satisfied. The exterior, interior, and the size of the Room were excellent, allowing me to have a comfortable stay. I would definitely like to use this Hotel again when I visit Kusatsu next time.

    This was my first time staying here! The Room was very clean, and the open-air bath was so relaxing! Although there is no parking lot, it was great that we could park for free at Now Resort Hotel and take a shuttle bus from there. It was so comfortable that I want to visit again!     It was beautiful.

    The building itself is very clean and satisfying. The room being barrier-free is excellent, but for those who don't need it, the room's elongated layout felt slightly uncomfortable. Adjusting the shower was a bit difficult, and I thought the coffee and other services were somewhat limited. Dinner was very delicious, and breakfast service was also enjoyable. I was concerned about the lack of nearby parking, but since driving around Yubatake isn't ideal, I think using a shuttle service when visiting Kusatsu is a good option.

    Services: Business Hotel

    The front desk staff was friendly, but they handed me a card key and explained that room details could be accessed by scanning a QR code. Yukata and slippers were self-service, and for checkout, I was instructed to insert the card into a machine. It felt more like a Business Hotel, which was quite surprising. The room had a microwave, cups, and cutlery but no kettle. There was a coffee machine on the second floor with tea bags available for free; however, going there every time felt inconvenient. A kettle in the room would be appreciated. I used my own tea bag with water heated in the microwave. The compact Room was functional but lacked a safety box. There wasn’t a closet—just an open hanger rack. The bed and pillows suited my preference. There was no landline phone in the Room; you need to call numbers listed in the manual accessed via QR code if needed. Towels included one thin face towel and one bath towel per person. For multiple night stays, it mentioned that from the second night onward you need to pick up your own towels—perhaps bringing extras would have been better? No bathrobes were provided either; having at least two proper hotel-quality towels and bathrobes would improve comfort. I chose a sukiyaki Plan served at the first-floor restaurant—it tasted good though slightly salty. The system resembled that of family restaurants. The Onsen experience was excellent overall; however, as others noted, the bathtub size felt small. Adjusting shower temperature manually (mixing hot/cold water) confused me initially—clearer instructions might help (were they written somewhere?). Considering I booked through IKYU.com at this price point expecting higher service standards than typical Business Hotels left me surprised by its simplicity. While its location and semi-open-air baths are great features, it would be worth revisiting if priced more reasonably!

    The facility and meals were satisfying. However, switching to wooden clogs was a bit inconvenient, so I rated the facility slightly lower. Overall, it was a well-located accommodation with great hospitality! Thank you for your service.

    It was a very meaningful time.

    Despite some accidents such as personal matters and mix-ups on the reservation site, thanks to Izumi-san's flexible response, we were able to enjoy our stay just as described in the title. On the day of our stay, we also received kind and attentive service, making it a place I would definitely recommend to friends and family. I would love to use this accommodation again if I have the chance!

    This Facility is not suitable for IKYU.

    The building is new, and the room was clean, making the stay itself comfortable. However, there were some minor issues with explanations from the staff at check-in and initial reception around the front desk, but no major problems in basic aspects. The price is comparable to a mid-to-high range Onsen Ryokan, while other aspects are on par with a Business Hotel. Even during Golden Week, would you pay 100,000 yen per room for a stay at ○○ Stay or ○P○ Hotel? The service does not match the price—this is my evaluation. No security box in the room. Guests must manage valuables themselves (carry them) or leave them at the front desk. No large public bath (this was my mistake in choosing this accommodation). There’s a possibility of becoming a dinner refugee. While you can use the meat restaurant on the first floor of this facility, it’s also open to non-guests, so you may not be able to dine at your desired time. Due to recent rice supply issues likely affecting this situation, I believe that foreign-produced rice was served during meals. The private bath in the room used Onsen water; however, if I had planned to visit an external Onsen facility anyway, I should have chosen accommodation with a large public bath from the start. In terms of shower facilities: hot and cold water knobs are separate and need individual adjustment for volume control—sudden boiling water could cause burns. Despite being new construction overall as a Facility lacks attention here. Service quality within dining areas ranks below average; breakfast especially felt disastrous unless prompted by guests directly regarding missing items/actions required! While staff interactions weren’t bad overall—the physical infrastructure disappointingly fails expectations visually misleadingly polished externally yet lacking substance internally operational-wise! Being associated w/ Nara-ya-related properties doesn’t justify inclusion under "IKYU.com" listings given current standards observed firsthand
