    Second stay

As it was summer vacation, it was much more crowded than last time. Even so, the staff were very courteous and helpful. I wish the lounge had been open without a break, and I would have appreciated it if the large public bath had been available until 11:00 a.m. Guests can use the parking lot for up to 30 hours for 500 yen, so we left our car there after check-out, walked to Nagahama Port, and took the ferry to Chikubushima Island. We had a wonderful time. Thank you very much.

We traveled as a family with two preschool children. We chose this place for the appealing tatami-style Room where shoes are not allowed, with a pool and Onsen, and the lounge with unlimited drinks. However, the Room cleaning was not thorough, and dust on the bed and TV stand was noticeable. We also noticed dust in some areas of the shared spaces, so we would like to stay again if cleaning could be improved a bit more. We stayed for two nights, but both the dinner and breakfast buffets had almost the same menu as the previous day; we think it would be more enjoyable with a bit more variety.

Accommodation for a family of five.

Overall, I was very satisfied! We stayed in one Room with five people. I was happy it was a Japanese-style Room with beds! The beds were very comfortable, and the next day my body felt light and refreshed. The large public bath was also great! The healthy drinks after the bath and the relaxing space were excellent. The breakfast buffet had a kids’ corner that was easy to understand, and there were plenty of kid-friendly options, which made us happy. Since there’s no hair dryer in the Room, I think it’s better to bring your own. I’d love it if each Room had one provided, but maybe some guests took them home in the past. Also, there were only enough towels in the Room for the number of guests; I would have appreciated towels being available at the large public bath as well, so it was disappointing that they weren’t—maybe for cost-cutting reasons. There is no convenience store inside the Hotel, so you’ll need to look nearby. The location with views of the lake and Nagahama Castle is amazing!!!! I definitely want to stay again, so I’ll use it when I return home next year!

    The pool was great!

This was my first stay. Overall, it was good. There was a wide variety of food, but the quality was just so-so. There were some Toyotomi Hideyoshi-themed, ancient-style dishes, but they didn’t appeal to me, and there wasn’t anything that made me think, “Wow, delicious! I want to have this again.” The pool was spacious and had changing rooms, which was nice. However, I was disappointed to be told it could only be used once during my stay.

We usually stay as a couple and enjoy a relaxing time. This time, we stayed with our daughter and her husband, along with our grandchildren, so we were a bit surprised by how excited and lively the children were. However, it made us happy to see them enjoying the meals, table tennis, and the pool. As an IKYU Diamond member, we received a gift at check-in. It was unexpected and made for a wonderful start to our trip. Thank you very much.

    Not worth the price.

I stayed without checking any Reviews in advance, and by focusing only on the price I mistakenly assumed it would be a relaxing resort—so I ended up coming home exhausted. First, there are far too few elevators for the number of guest Rooms. They don’t arrive quickly, and even when they do, they’re usually full so you can’t get on. The buffet is at a level you wouldn’t expect from a Hotel: an overcrowded, chaotic space that’s nowhere near “fine dining.” The Onsen bath area also requires waiting to use the washing stations. The last entry is 22:30 (which felt like an early closing time to me). Even with a Plan that includes lounge access, the lounge feels like a festival gathering spot full of children, so it’s not relaxing. The Room looks clean due to renovation, but the underlying age of the building is noticeable. Amenities are minimal and fall well below the standard of newer business hotels. Given that it advertises all-inclusive service, guests who don’t drink alcohol need to be willing to accept paying for something they won’t use. If the price were lower, satisfaction might improve relatively—but at this price point, I would look for another Accommodation. Overall, considering the price and scale of the Facility, both service quality and staffing/operations are not sufficient.

A wonderful Hotel with wonderful guests

Welcome drinks, meals, and even the free-flow drinks are all included, and there are also a table tennis table and air hockey. Everyone follows good manners (and the Hotel staff also do thoughtful behind-the-scenes work so we can enjoy our stay comfortably), so guests share and take turns neatly, making it a pleasant place to spend time. The sunset is beautiful, too. We stayed at a different Mercure the day before, but next time I’d rather stay here for two nights.

    Somehow, it feels great!!

I stayed here on a business trip. There were various comments in the Reviews, but overall I was very satisfied. There wasn’t any one standout feature, but everything was good overall. Next time, I’d like to stay here for a family trip!!

    We had a great time.

Check-in was crowded, but I already knew from Reviews, so I waited my turn. The staff handled breakfast and dinner efficiently, and it was great to have a place where we could return our dishes ourselves after eating—it made things stress-free. With the all-inclusive plan, we could drink alcohol freely, and the meals were varied. The kids also said everything was delicious and were very satisfied. For my son’s family’s Room, you kindly arranged a corner Room with a great view, which they really appreciated. However, I wasn’t sure about the unit-style toilet/bath setup; I would have preferred a more spacious washbasin area. Nagahama had a wonderfully cool breeze and was very comfortable overall. We had a pleasant stay and were generally satisfied—thank you very much.

I was surprised that parking costs extra, and it was inconvenient that there was no memo pen in the Room.

I was surprised that there was a parking fee. It was inconvenient that there was no memo pen in the Room. The elevator is slow. I wish the lounge would open from 8:00.

    We had a wonderful time.

We stayed here on a mother-and-daughter trip. It was very busy on Friday night, but the staff were courteous and welcoming, so we had a comfortable stay. Near the end of dinner and breakfast service, they came around to each table to explain things clearly. Their guidance was pleasant and never rushed us. Thank you very much.

    First Stay (No Meals Included)

It was nice not to be constrained by meal times. The view from the Room was great, and it was spacious enough. The amazake served at night had slightly hard grains. The parking restrictions were also disappointing. I would like the shuttle bus to run a bit later for evening sightseeing—at least until around 8:00 PM.

    Relatively good.

Compared to other Mercure Hotels, the drink corner is better, and the pancake-like manju was delicious. The paid parking lot was crowded and inconvenient to walk from. The elevators get crowded.

    Large Public Bath Hours

Please open the large public bath earlier than 6:00 a.m., because with breakfast reserved for 7:00, I didn’t have enough time to use it at a relaxed pace.

The breakfast buffet was good, but

There were many guests that day, so the venue was split into two areas. I’m not sure how they decided the split, but I was a bit concerned about the disparity between the main area and the other area for everyone else. In the evening lounge, drinking alcohol from paper cups!? And I don’t think ramune is necessary as a snack to go with alcohol.

    Overall satisfied

I stayed one night in a Classic Lake View Twin with breakfast included. The Room had a great view and felt clean despite its age. As for the “all-inclusive” plan, “free drinks” might be a better description, but it was still good value for money. All the Hotel staff were polite and cheerful, but I deducted a star because the response from the Tokyo call center when I contacted them in advance was unpleasant. Breakfast featured plenty of local specialties, and everything was delicious. Only the Eggs Benedict at the live kitchen was disappointing... Overall, I’m satisfied!

    We had a relaxing stay.

Our group of six women had a wonderful time eating, drinking, and chatting together. The bath was crowded, so it would be helpful to have an electronic display showing how busy it is. It was also very convenient—close to both sightseeing spots and the station.

    The staff are wonderful.

Great value for money, with an Onsen, and the food was delicious. Above all, I thought all the staff were wonderful! It couldn’t be helped, but it was crowded even on weekdays… so I couldn’t really relax. Thank you as well—we enjoyed Kurokabe Square and more.

Savor Local Ingredients with a Premium Touch

Stayed in a Junior Suite. There is an exclusive welcome lounge for designated floors, where you can enjoy drinks while taking in a panoramic view of Lake Biwa from above. The relaxation area after the bath was also wonderful and felt premium. At breakfast, there was an abundant selection of local specialties, with thoughtful explanations that added to the travel experience—and everything tasted great. Highly recommended.

    Overall, I’m very satisfied!

We chose this Hotel because our children love the lounge and the buffet. We stayed in a Japanese-style Room, and with two beds and one futon, it was just right for sharing existing bedding with our 5-year-old. The food was delicious with a wide variety of options, and we were happy that the lounge had many kinds of alcohol and other drinks. (Points to note) The sink/toilet/bathroom area was surprisingly small—like a Business Hotel—and it was a unit bath. Since we used the public bath, it wasn’t too much of an issue if you think of it as just a toilet. If you plan to use the in-room bath, note that Facilities vary by Room type, so choose carefully. Check-in gets very crowded. Around 14:30 it felt smooth, but after that there were long lines. We wanted slippers for our child sharing existing bedding, but we were told to come to the front desk. However, we couldn’t line up again in the huge check-in queue... It would be convenient if there were a separate front desk counter for requests other than check-in.

    Coordination with tour groups

When I was asked what time I wanted breakfast, I chose 7:00, but then two tour buses’ worth of guests showed up. The dining area was completely full and chaotic. If so, they should have told me that 7:00 was fully booked. Other than that, I was satisfied.

Everything was delicious, and I ate too much. The lounge offerings were more than enough, and I drank too much.

    This was our second ...

This was our second stay. Thank you very much for upgrading our Room this time! We were truly impressed by the wonderful Room. The views from the Room and the sky lounge were amazing, and the food was delicious—we enjoyed everything and made many great memories. Thank you again. We would definitely like to stay here again. (Someone slipped and fell because the rocks in the Onsen were slippery.)

    Thank you for your support.

It’s only about an hour and a half from home, but we come to relax and have stayed here five or six times already. My son and I went to the Taiga Drama Museum, and since my husband has trouble walking, he waited at the Hotel. When I told the front desk, they kindly said we could check in as soon as our Room was ready, which was very helpful. When we came back and looked for our Rooms near the elevator, it was “that way!” then “this way!” Until now, our Rooms had always been next to each other or directly across the hall. I thought it might be because I booked a single Room for my son this time, but I would have appreciated a brief explanation. My son also said that if this was the case, he would rather pay a little more to have a nearby Room—so we’ll do that next time. At the restaurant, there were some nice changes—for example, roast beef had been replaced with diced steak, and salmon Benedict had changed as well. Also, there used to be only one type of sake, but this time Nanahon Yari was available, which made me happy. Regarding restaurant Reservation times: at another Mercure property they were scheduled in 10-minute intervals. Depending on how busy it was inside, guests sometimes waited at the entrance—but once inside it wasn’t crowded and it was easy to pick up food smoothly. Here it felt quite crowded; my husband found it difficult to push his cart while getting food, so in the end my son or I went to get it for him. Please consider this point. The next day we visited Odani Castle and Shizugatake on our way home—it turned into a very enjoyable trip. Thank you very much.

Perhaps due to its long history, some areas show signs of age.

Some of the room’s older fixtures stood out, such as the step between the toilet and bathroom and the chairs. However, everything was well maintained and thoroughly cleaned, so it felt very clean. The spa had good amenities and was also well cleaned. The food tasted great, and the staff were cheerful and friendly, which was appreciated. If I had to be picky, I would have liked an air purifier in the room and complimentary bottled mineral water even though there is a shared water server. An ice machine would also be nice.

    We had a great time!

I stayed here on a girls’ trip. The Room felt a bit dark due to limited lighting, and the furniture and safe seemed somewhat dated, but it was spacious enough and I was satisfied. The breakfast buffet had a great variety, and I really enjoyed it—the view was amazing as well. At night, I used the lounge with the free drink service. It was relaxing with drinks and snacks available, but unfortunately one foreign guest put their feet up on the table and played a game loudly alone with earphones and a tablet, and other guests looked uncomfortable. It was disappointing to see such poor manners. Thank you for your attentive service at the front desk!

    It was comfortable.

This was my first stay. The room felt a bit dated, but it was properly cleaned. However, the unit bath had a strong damp smell—like a musty cleaning rag—so I think the cleaning tools and supplies should be reviewed. Dinner and breakfast were very luxurious, with a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. However, the dining area was split into two venues, and they did not offer the same items. Some things (such as the live kitchen and local specialties) were only available in the farther venue, so we had to walk back and forth many times, which was tiring. We were traveling with our 2- and 4-year-old children, who quickly wanted seconds or sometimes dropped dishes, so I often had to leave our table for long periods to get food again, leaving me almost no time to eat calmly. I understand this may be intended to reduce food waste, but I would appreciate it if both venues could offer the same buffet selection even if that meant fewer items overall.

A Room with a bath and toilet.

The Room with a bath and toilet smells musty. The shower curtain isn’t moldy, so it may be coming from the drain. Please improve this, as I have already made a Reservation for next month.

    Third stay

Just a short walk from Nagahama Station, with Lake Biwa right in front—an excellent location. Nagahama Castle is also very close, and you can see the castle from the Room. There is also an open-air bath, perfect for relaxing and relieving fatigue. The meals include dishes associated with Nagahama as well as Matsusaka beef, making for a very satisfying dining experience. The sunset seen from the restaurant was breathtaking, coloring the shores of Lake Biwa. As a place connected to the Taiga drama “Toyotomi Brothers,” and with many nearby attractions such as Kurokabe Square and Chikubu Island, it made for a truly fulfilling trip.

The lounge is excellent. Not recommended for guests with sensitive teeth.

This is a very clean Hotel with convenient access to tourist spots in eastern Shiga Prefecture, such as Kurokabe Square. The standout feature is the lounge. You can enjoy soft drinks, alcohol, and snacks, and honestly this service alone makes it worth staying. However, for elderly guests or anyone with weak teeth, the snacks are all quite hard. I would appreciate it if softer, salty snacks were also provided, or if only those guests could be allowed to bring in a small amount of their own snacks... In any case, I can’t recommend it for people with weak teeth. Otherwise, I do recommend it. In addition to these points, there is also an Onsen (it is diluted), and there are various Room types to choose from—from Japanese-style rooms to Western-style rooms—so it’s especially recommended for families. The breakfast buffet was not just the bare minimum; it was generous and tasted great. I did feel many items were seasoned a bit on the salty side, but there were also options that weren’t, so it wasn’t an issue. The Room seemed well soundproofed—I didn’t notice any noise from next door at all. You can hear children being noisy from the hallway a little at times, but it wasn’t bothersome. Overall, this is an excellent Accommodation and I would definitely like to stay again.
