    My wife and I stayed...

    My wife and I stayed here together. The Room was spacious and clean, and we were able to relax comfortably. Even after walking around sightseeing all day, we could unwind properly in the calm atmosphere, and we were very satisfied. What especially stood out was the complimentary lounge available to guests. Not only could we enjoy free draft Sapporo beer, but there were also light snacks provided—it was so well stocked that we couldn’t believe it was free. It really felt like Sapporo and greatly enhanced our stay. It was also very convenient that there was a place to store luggage such as suitcases. We could sightsee hands-free even after checkout, so we were able to enjoy the city of Sapporo right up until it was time to leave. On the other hand, the only disappointing point was the showerhead. The water pressure in normal mode was too low and a bit difficult to use, but when switched to massage mode it became too strong, so there wasn’t a comfortable setting in between. If it were up to me, I would replace the showerhead without hesitation. For example, switching to something like the “SANEI Ultra Fine Bubble Shower Head mitos,” which can be purchased for around 10,000 yen, might significantly improve guest satisfaction. That said, aside from the shower everything else exceeded expectations. The complimentary lounge and luggage storage are thoughtful services that guests truly appreciate. My wife and I had a very comfortable stay, and it was also an excellent base for exploring Sapporo. I hope the showerhead will be improved, but even so, I would like to stay here again next time I visit Sapporo.

    Family Trip

    I planned a family trip because I wanted to visit Hokkaido in summer. The Hotel was conveniently located near the Sapporo Summer Beer Festival venue. The Room was disappointing: the toilet flush was weak and made me uneasy, and once flushed, the tank didn’t refill quickly. The washroom light flickered and seemed like it might go out. However, there were two welcome drink sessions, which was a nice touch. When we went to the evening session, they opened up the dining lounge where we could enjoy soft drinks and beer from self-serve taps in a glass, which was great. There were also snacks like popcorn, chocolate, and other snack foods, and everyone looked relaxed and happy as they enjoyed their drinks. We had already been out drinking, but because of the pleasant atmosphere we had just one glass of Sapporo beer—it was delicious.

    A Convenient Hotel

    The airport limousine bus terminates at the Hotel, so check-in was smooth. The Room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast included Sapporo specialties like soup curry, and I was happy to enjoy local cuisine. The salmon Eggs Benedict in particular was outstanding. The Ainu pendant-making event was also fun. It’s within walking distance of Sapporo Station, and the subway station is nearby as well, making it very convenient. The front desk staff were very kind and gave sightseeing advice, so I had a very pleasant stay.

    I slept well.

    This was my first time staying at Mercure. The pillow fit perfectly, and I slept very well. I was also very satisfied with the all-inclusive drinks and snacks, which were plentiful and well stocked.

    The staff were very friendly and helpful, which was great, but the bathroom smelled bad. The shower curtain was yellowed and had an odor as well. Also, the shower water pressure was far too weak. The toilet also didn’t flush well. Other than that, I was satisfied. Thank you!

    We had a relaxing stay.

    The free lounge was great. When I wanted to have a little alcohol or a drink after getting back to my Room, it was really nice to be able to enjoy drinks without leaving the Hotel. Since I was traveling solo this time, it was perfect for a quick drink. They also have snacks. Instead of mineral water in each Room, there were water dispensers on each floor, which was convenient because I could adjust how much I drank. There is a paid service where you can leave your luggage at the airport and have it delivered to the Hotel, so you can go sightseeing straight from the airport, which is another great point. I’d like to stay at this Hotel again.

    This was my first st...

    This was my first stay at Grand Mercure, and the Facility was clean, making my solo stay very comfortable. I used the lounge after dinner, and even late at night I was able to relax and enjoy a drink on my own. It was a shame that due to a flight delay I couldn’t use the lounge during the daytime.

    The toilet was dirty.

    I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. The Room was clean, but there was blood that looked like menstrual blood on the toilet lid. There is a risk of infection, and I chose this kind of Hotel to avoid issues like this, so I was very disappointed. The staff did clean it, but the Hotel staff only offered a brief apology, which left me feeling uncomfortable. I hope this will be improved in the future.

    We had a very satisfying stay.

    I stayed for three nights for a trip. The Room feels a bit dated, but it was well cleaned and felt very fresh and tidy. It also has a spacious layout with plenty of room, making it very comfortable. The Room amenities felt old-fashioned, but that simplicity meant there was nothing unnecessary, and honestly it was easier to use than the latest equipment. Having access to the lounge was also great. Although the opening hours were limited, I could use it when I returned from going out and before going to bed, and relax with a beer. I really appreciated being able to casually enjoy Sapporo Classic. The subway station is nearby as well, so the location was convenient. Overall, I was very satisfied and would like to stay again next time.

    The lounge service is excellent.

    I have stayed here several times since it was the Loiton. Since April of the year before last, it has become part of the Mercure group and lounge access has been offered to all guests. There is a wide selection of drinks, and the snacks are also good. I’m not sure how long this service will continue, but it feels very generous.

    Walking down the hallway in the morning on the way to breakfast, the lovely music and inviting aromas lift your spirits. The meal selection is unique and perfectly suited to my taste.

    In the end, this kind of Hotel is the best.

    This is my second stay at this Hotel. I’ve stayed at various Hotels in Sapporo several times, and this one has always been a place where I can feel at ease. The basics—cleanliness, service, and comfort—are consistently well maintained, so I can enjoy a pleasant stay throughout. In particular, the lounge is a great space, and the drinks taste especially good there. It may not be flashy, but it’s a Hotel with strong overall quality. I will definitely stay again.

    It was comfortable.

    It seems the Royton Hotel has changed to the Grand Mercure. The building and Facilities are the same as they were at Royton, so I have no particular complaints. It is a bit old, but it is well maintained. Since it became part of France’s ACCOR Group, I feel that operations and dining have changed slightly. For breakfast, adding more Hokkaido-style ingredients to the buffet would likely be appreciated by Japanese guests (there was soup curry). Understandably in this day and age, it feels like they prioritize inbound travelers.

    The lounge service is exceptionally good.

    I only knew this Hotel from its former Royton Sapporo days, so this was my first stay since it became Mercure. I expected it might feel a bit dated, but from the entrance to the front desk and the carpeted corridors on each floor, it felt upscale with high ceilings—an Accommodation that exceeded its price. The most impressive part was the lounge service: very substantial. From 15:00–19:00 and 21:00–23:00, they offered champagne, wine, three kinds of beer, and a wide variety of snacks and sweets, including fresh chocolate. It’s amazing that this is available to all guests! The Room was spacious at 30 m² and very clean, and both the bed and pillows were comfortable. Overall, the value for money was outstanding.

    Forgotten Card

    I left my key card in the Room and stepped out, so I called the front desk. They said I should come to the front desk, as if they were doing me a favor, but a male staff member came instead. Even when I apologized, he said nothing. Would it have hurt to at least say “Good morning”? It was disappointing because the other staff were pleasant. At other Hotels, they normally come without making an issue of it.

    A Hotel with Excellent Hospitality

    The lounge is the standout feature here. After returning from sightseeing, being able to enjoy beer, wine, and sparkling wine from midday—along with some light snacks—is simply fantastic. In the evening, they even offer pre-poured sparkling wine in glasses, which makes it feel like a small party. There’s also a great variety of Japanese-style sweets, and it’s nice to have dessert after dinner while enjoying a drink. The staff work efficiently as well—glasses are never left sitting on tables—so the atmosphere feels very pleasant. This lounge service is so satisfying that I truly hope they continue it. Also, when I asked via the Room phone about where to catch the limousine bus to the airport, I was surprised that someone came all the way to my Room with an information sheet and explained it in person. Their hospitality is truly excellent. When I visit Sapporo again, I will definitely stay here. It became a wonderful memory.

    A highly comfortable Hotel

    Although it’s old, it offers a spacious, luxurious atmosphere like an overseas Hotel built during Japan’s bubble era. You can hardly hear any noise from the neighboring rooms, making it very comfortable. There is lounge service here, but since all guests can use it, it gets quite crowded. Still, with draft beer and other alcoholic drinks available all you can drink, it’s worth it.

    A Highly Satisfying Breakfast Buffet

    This Hotel offered a very comfortable Room and excellent hospitality. When I emailed to correct and check my Reservation details, I received a prompt reply, which was very reassuring. Even late at night after check-in, when my companion asked about transportation for the next day, the staff kindly provided helpful guidance. The buffet in the bright, open atrium venue had a wide variety of options. The staff who prepared dishes in front of us were also very pleasant, which made the food feel even more delicious. Since we didn’t have time for sightseeing, both my friend and I were especially satisfied that many dishes featured ingredients from Hokkaido. It made us feel happy from the morning and became a wonderful memory. The only disappointment was that the toilet flush sometimes became weak depending on timing (perhaps when showers were being used in other Rooms?), but I would definitely like to stay at this Hotel again when visiting Sapporo!

    Clean and comfortable—how you spend your time is up to you.

    The interior truly reflects the Mercure brand—an elegant, calming space with tasteful furnishings. Lounge access is also a great perk. Unfortunately, the limited-time cocktail sold out just 12 minutes after opening, which was disappointing. Other drinks during cocktail time were satisfying, but the food presentation was only snacks, so it felt a bit lacking. Breakfast was delicious across the board, so I recommend getting up early to enjoy it. The location is convenient and close to the station. If you are traveling with infants or toddlers, please be mindful of the bed height. The Simmons mattress was very comfortable.

    The Room was spacious.

    The Room was spacious and easy to use. The bathroom had a strange smell, possibly from the drain. The amenities were minimal, but I usually use my own, so it wasn’t an issue. The lounge can’t really be compared to a club floor. It may be good for those who drink alcohol, but if you only want tea, it would have been better to have it in the Room. When I tried to take a taxi in the evening, none were available. When I asked the front desk, “Are there no taxis at this time?” they said, “We’ll call one.” However, before the taxi they called arrived, three taxis came by. I appreciate their thoughtfulness, but it might have been helpful if they had mentioned that one might come if I waited a little. In any case, thank you for your help.

    The breakfast buffet was excellent.

    The guest rooms and lobby felt a bit dated and had a distinctive odor, so I wished they had used something like aromatherapy. However, the rooms were thoroughly cleaned and I didn’t feel uncomfortable. More importantly, I was very satisfied with the lounge available at night, which offered unlimited drinks including alcohol and a great selection of small desserts, as well as the luxurious breakfast buffet. There were plenty of Hokkaido specialties such as fresh seafood, zangi burgers, and pancakes made right in front of you, and I left completely full. The Hotel staff were friendly and their smiles were wonderful. I also got to make a traditional craft pendant for free, which became a great travel memory. Since it’s a bit far from Sapporo Station, taking a taxi is recommended. I’d love to stay again if I have the chance.

    The front desk staff were very kind, and whenever I asked about something I didn’t understand, they explained it kindly. I rated the room 4 stars because the bed felt a bit too springy/bouncy for my liking. I think it’s a matter of personal preference. I also thought it was great that all rooms include access to the lounge.

    Even more satisfied on my second stay.

    This was my second stay following last month, and my Room was upgraded. The slightly larger Room had great Facilities, and I was able to relax and enjoy my time. I would definitely like to stay here again next time.

    Our Second Stay at Grand Mercure

    Thankfully, we were upgraded, and our Room had a wonderful view with the Okurayama Ski Jump visible in the distance, so we really enjoyed our time at the Hotel. The lounge was also a lovely space, with lamps placed by the windows. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, and I wanted to try everything but couldn’t. It was a bit noisy, which was disappointing. It’s a shame there is no Onsen, but the bath area had washing stations and was comfortable. I’ve stayed at other Mercure Hotels before, and this is one I’d like to stay at again.

    This was my first stay. Walking from Sapporo Station in heavy snow was quite tough. I wish I had taken the subway. I stayed in a Superior Twin Room on the top floor. The renovated Room was clean and easy to use, and the bathroom with a washing area was very relaxing. For water, you fill a bottle-like container at the water dispenser, which was convenient because you can take only what you need. The complimentary lounge mainly offered drinks, with not many snacks. Breakfast had a decent variety, but the taste was average.
