  Traveling with elderly parents.

  My parents and I had a very comfortable stay. They said they would like to come again, which made me happy as the one who gave them this trip as a gift. All the staff were very courteous and attentive to every detail. We relaxed with coffee in our Room, warmed up to the core in the free-flowing Onsen, and slept soundly. Every dish was delicious. The acqua pazza, in particular, was the best I have ever had.

  An Accommodation you’ll want to return to again and again

  Just as I was starting to feel my monthly travel destinations were becoming repetitive, this Accommodation caught my eye and I quickly completed the Reservation. When I checked the Reservation details again two days before our stay, I realized the Room we had booked didn’t have a shower. I called to ask if it would be possible to change the Room at short notice, and thank you for kindly accommodating our request despite the sudden timing. The changed Room was very comfortable, and we especially appreciated that it was the shortest walk from the shower room to the open-air bath. The dinner we had been looking forward to allowed us to order as much of what we liked as we wanted, and we were extremely satisfied with both the taste and presentation. We were also truly impressed by how hospitable all of your staff were. These days there are many Accommodations with excellent facilities but disappointing service, so we clearly understood why this place is so highly rated. The only disappointment was that, perhaps due to the fabric of the samue loungewear, it felt too harsh on sensitive skin and I couldn’t wear it. Even so, it was a very satisfying stay overall. Most importantly, my companion—who is usually very strict about Accommodation reviews—said “I want to come back!” with sparkling eyes, so we would love to visit again.

  Thank you again for staying with us this year.

  I stayed during the summer fireworks festival, and this was my third visit. Thank you again for your wonderful, warm hospitality. Although it’s a bit far since you need to take a bus from the nearest station, the countryside scenery along the way is exciting too. We were worried about rain this time, but it cleared up right in time for the fireworks, and we were able to watch them up close again this year. I’m truly grateful to be able to relax on the rooftop and enjoy such a luxurious view. And the meals are so delicious that I always end up overeating. The presentation is beautiful—I take photos before eating, but partway through I get completely absorbed in the food, so I never have any photos from the second half! Thank you for a wonderful time. It was a perfect way to wrap up summer! We’d love to stay again.

We were concerned about the weather right up until the last minute for this year’s fireworks festival, but all three days went ahead safely and lit up the summer night sky over Sarugakyo Onsen. On the day, we opened our rooftop so everyone could enjoy the show together. The breathtaking fireworks overhead and the powerful booms echoing across the lake captivated our guests, making it a beloved summer tradition. We are truly grateful to have shared another wonderful summer memory with you this year. Thank you as well for your kind words about our meals.   Feel the excitement all over again!!

  After our first visit last September, my husband and I discovered an “ultimate stay with genuine hospitality” unlike anything we had ever experienced. On that previous trip, we stayed for two nights and tried every item on the regular menu (except the pizzas) as well as all of the seasonal limited-time dishes (the summer menu at the time). Determined to complete our goal of trying every seasonal menu and every outstanding wood-fired pizza, we returned in late May, when the fresh greenery was dazzling (the seasonal offerings were the spring menu). For reference, the pizzas are regular size, and with our appetite we can manage only one per dinner at most—so to try them all would require at least seven nights. This time, just as planned, we enjoyed every dish from the spring menu along with several items from the regular menu, and once again we were completely satisfied. However, when it came to pizza, although I intended to order a third variety, the moment I looked at the menu again I was reminded of how delicious “Monica,” their original signature pizza that we had tried on our last visit, truly is. After much deliberation I ended up ordering it again—so rather than moving closer to completing them all, we found ourselves treading water. (In other words: “Monica” really is that good.) Perhaps due to scheduling constraints, this time we didn’t have a chance to speak leisurely with the proprietress—which was my only regret—but Ms. T and Ms. S once again provided exceptionally comfortable service, bringing back all of the extraordinary emotion we felt on our first visit.

  I was very happy at this truly wonderful accommodation.

  Your warm hospitality was truly soothing, and I was able to relax and feel refreshed. From the Room window, we could also see the trees, and it was a spacious, clean space that felt very comfortable. Dinner started with Neapolitan pizza, and every made-to-order dish was carefully prepared and beautifully presented—truly delicious. Our family thoroughly enjoyed many dishes along with drinks. Since dinner began while it was still light outside, the misty mountain view through the restaurant’s large windows was also wonderful. The Japanese breakfast had more dishes than we could finish, and it made us happy from the morning. Thanks to everyone, we were able to spend our entire stay feeling warmly welcomed. I accidentally left something behind—thank you very much for your help. An Onsen during the cold season sounds like it would feel great as well. I would love to visit again.

  Overall, this is a highly satisfying Accommodation.

  When I arrived right at check-in time, there were already quite a lot of cars parked. Thanks to the courteous guidance from the Accommodation staff, parking was smooth. The building itself seems to have some age, but it has been renovated and feels clean. The Room was also clean, though the carpet looked a bit fuzzy, and the fragrance around the elevators felt somewhat strong. The in-room bath is an open-air bath and was very clean. You can see the lake as well; everything was spotless, the water was great, and I was very satisfied. For dinner, you choose your dishes yourself and can eat as much as you like. Portions per plate are smaller so you can try many different items. It’s Italian cuisine, and everything was properly prepared—personally I was very satisfied with this too. Wine is also all-inclusive, and the quality was more than satisfactory. Personally, I really liked the combination of the bed mattress and pillows and could enjoy a deep sleep. It’s on the firmer side but still very comfortable. Even at Accommodations that advertise brand-name beds, sometimes the pillows don’t suit you and your sleep becomes light—but that wasn’t an issue here at all. Breakfast was Japanese-style: salted grilled salmon with several basic small side dishes, plus yudofu (tofu hot pot), which left me very satisfied. The miso soup in particular stood out as delicious. Checkout is at 10:00 a.m., which felt a bit rushed, but even after checkout they brought coffee out to our car before we departed. Throughout our stay, all staff were extremely polite and attentive—that felt like the most pleasant part. There were a few minor things that caught my attention here and there, but it was a comfortable Accommodation where you could really feel everyone’s effort and ingenuity to make it a good place to stay.

  A high-quality all-inclusive Accommodation with a unique concept, offering impeccable quantity and taste.

  All-inclusive Accommodations have been increasing lately, but most simply offer unlimited drinks during your stay or a buffet-style setup. However, the “all-inclusive” here means something completely different. You can order as many items as you like from the dinner menu—this is definitely not a buffet. It’s like ordering freely at a restaurant. What’s more, each dish is carefully crafted and delicious. It was truly surprising. I’ve never seen this style before; they must have an excellent chef on staff. The Accommodation and the Onsen were flawless as well, but above all, dinner really impressed me. If you go here, make sure you arrive very hungry (lol). The staff’s hospitality was also outstanding (and that really matters). I hope this kind of high-quality Accommodation continues to thrive.

  Wonderful Accommodation

  This was my first time visiting Sarugakyo Onsen, and to be honest, it didn’t feel like there was much sightseeing, but this Accommodation was so wonderful that I’d come back just to stay here again. The staff were all very hospitable, and the food was excellent. The pizza in particular was truly delicious—I ended up eating far too much. I’d love to visit again! Thank you very much.

  This is a wonderful Accommodation.

  The view from the Room is simply outstanding. Through the large windows, you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of Lake Akaya and the surrounding greenery, with nothing to obstruct the scenery. After soaking in the Onsen, cooling off on the terrace completely refreshed us with the pleasant lake breeze and birdsong. The Room is spacious, simple, and relaxing. If I had to ask for more comfort, there are a few amenities that would be nice to have. One would be hooks or a coat stand for hanging bathrobes and bath towels. Because the Room is large, it would also be convenient to have one tissue box by the washbasin and another in the living area. And a chair in the powder room—having a chair at just the right height for using a hair dryer or doing makeup in front of the mirror would be appreciated. That said, this Facility has more than enough charm to make up for it. Dinner was so appealing that just reading the menu raised our expectations, and every dish was generously decorated with edible flowers—beautiful to look at as well as enjoy. For breakfast I chose Japanese-style while my husband had Western-style; from how perfectly grilled salmon was prepared to details like salad dressing and even ketchup served with an omelet, we could really feel the chef’s dedication in every delicious bite. Of course, edible flowers were used abundantly not only in Western dishes but also in Japanese ones. Thank you as well for having both dinner and breakfast greeted by your chef. The staff were also wonderfully warm—service that didn’t feel rigidly scripted—and it left us feeling truly at ease. We also had great fun at the casino after dinner, which is not something you often get to experience in Japan. We’d love to return during autumn foliage season.

  The food is delicious, especially the pizza.

  This Hotel offers a highly satisfying stay.

  This was our second stay, following our visit last summer. Every dish served was delicious, the staff’s hospitality was excellent, and the Room was thoroughly cleaned down to every corner, so time flew by.   This was the first time I’ve stayed at such a satisfying Accommodation.

  Not only was the Room beautifully designed, but the open-air bath was also outstanding. The all-inclusive dinner in particular was very satisfying, as we could order as much of whatever we wanted. Since each dish was served in a small portion, we were able to share and try a variety of items, and every dish was delicious. The staff were also excellent, and it’s an Accommodation we definitely want to visit again.

  It was the best stay.

  It was a stay that made us understand why so many Reviews say it was wonderful. This Hotel truly embodied the meaning behind the word “hotel”—hospitality. Led by the proprietress, every staff member and the chef were exceptional: warm service, delicious cuisine, and an Onsen that was almost like having it all to ourselves. The cleaning was thorough, and our Room was spotless and comfortable—an Accommodation we would love to visit again. We stayed here to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We only mentioned that it was our anniversary, yet you surprised us with flowers and a dessert plate with a message. As soon as we got home, we displayed the flowers right away. Thank you very much.   A warm and welcoming accommodation you’ll want to return to again and again

  This was my second stay. What makes this Accommodation special is an ultimate culinary experience where you can enjoy as much outstanding Italian cuisine as you like, a relaxing and soothing time in a quiet setting, and above all, the warm, heartfelt hospitality of the staff. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re coming mainly for sightseeing or events, but I think it’s the perfect Accommodation to visit if you’re looking to unwind and recharge. I hope to visit next in winter, which was recommended to me.

  Everything was great.

  The Room amenities were clean and well-equipped, and everything was thoroughly cleaned, giving the place a very fresh and spotless feel.   A long-awaited return!

  This was my second stay. Just like last time, I was soothed by the quiet atmosphere and warm hospitality. Needless to say, the food is outstanding. The salad featuring plenty of edible flowers left a strong impression—its aroma, colors, and flavors were perfectly balanced. It was remarkable how ingredients that are hard to come by in everyday life were prepared so naturally and deliciously. The pizza was also truly authentic, with an exquisite bake on the crust that brought out the full flavor of the toppings. A Ryokan where you can enjoy Italian cuisine at this level is rare. This is an Accommodation I’d want to visit again and again for the meals alone.

  Looks great.

  The Room was very spacious, and I was able to relax and enjoy the large living-room TV and video-on-demand. A highlight of this Accommodation was the choice-style Italian dinner, which tasted great. The view from the open-air bath was also wonderful, and I had a relaxing time.   Feel the refreshing green breeze comfortably.

  - I first stayed at this Accommodation in mid-March and had a comfortable experience just as many Reviews describe: a wide variety of dishes, warm hospitality, and clean, new Facilities. Not much time has passed since then, but this time I treated myself to a Plan with a Room featuring an open-air Onsen bath. As before, I was able to enjoy all those wonderful qualities again. With the season further along and the trees now a deeper green, after soaking in the Onsen at leisure I stepped out onto the balcony and felt a refreshing “green breeze,” true to the Accommodation’s name—perhaps carried across Akaya Lake filled to capacity—cooling my warmed body. Needless to say, the beer from the fridge tasted better than ever there. - Dinner offered great variety; each dish was small but delicious, and many were beautifully presented with edible flowers—so tempting that it would be easy to overeat. This time even more than last time, I checked in with my appetite as I went and chose items accordingly, which made for a very satisfying dinner. - For breakfast you choose between Japanese or Western style. While it is not as varied as dinner, we were told there are plans to make it possible to choose from menu options. It may add extra work, but if realized it would make the Accommodation even more appealing. - As on my previous stay, after checkout when we left the Accommodation, the staff waved us off until our car was out of sight—another very positive impression.

  Moved by the unique concept

  The all-inclusive plan includes a free-flow selection of alcoholic drinks at dinner. You can choose as many à la carte dishes from the menu as you like, one plate at a time. Everything was delicious, and there were also distinctive seasonal items—so for those of us who enjoy drinking, it truly felt like a dream: sipping our favorite drinks while enjoying small portions of great food. As many Reviews say, the pizza is outstanding; it’s rare to find something at this level. I won’t go into details to avoid spoilers, but one dish in particular showcased the Accommodation’s dedication, and its unexpected combination was incredibly tasty. The fact that there is also a separate Italian restaurant on-site probably speaks to how popular it is. The bath is a large communal bath with an old-style Onsen Ryokan feel, but the changing area is very functional and spotless. The water was wonderfully soft and soothing. Since we stayed on a weekday slightly off-season, it wasn’t crowded, and together with the surroundings it made for a quiet and comfortable stay. Waking up to birdsong in the morning—what a lovely experience. It didn’t feel like there were many staff members, but most seemed to handle multiple roles; they worked extremely hard while still taking great care of guests, which really impressed me. I won’t mention specifics so as not to spoil anything, but there’s also entertainment you rarely find at other Hotels. I’d love to visit again in another season.

  I was satisfied.

  Recently, after staying at several places, I felt that Reviews weren’t very reliable and had started to lower my expectations. However, at this Facility, the service was attentive in every detail, and I was able to spend my precious day off truly relaxed. Of course, there’s always more one could ask for, but at the very least there was nothing unpleasant or upsetting at all, and the service met my expectations. While this may seem like it should be standard, it often isn’t in reality, so I’m grateful to have found such a valuable place. If possible, next time I’d like to stay for two nights instead of just one.

  It was a very comfortable accommodation.

  All the staff were always smiling, making this Accommodation a truly pleasant place to stay. We stayed in a Premium Twin Room with an open-air bath; it was very spacious and felt luxurious, so we were able to relax in great comfort. For dinner, each dish was perfectly portioned and not overly seasoned, and everything was delicious. In addition, edible flowers were used generously, making the dishes vibrant and beautifully presented. The Facility is old, but the overall experience more than made up for it.

  Very satisfied. The food, in particular, was excellent.

  Overall: I was very satisfied overall and would definitely like to visit again. Room: Good Stayed in a Premium Twin. Extremely comfortable. The in-room open-air Onsen bath with a lake view was also excellent. Service: Good All-inclusive Plan. I was happy to be able to freely enjoy the drinks in the room and snacks in the lobby. There were also Nestlé coffee machines in both the lobby and the room. After dinner, we could play a casino-style roulette game in the lobby, and it was fun playing with the chief staff member. Dinner: Excellent I really liked it—especially the pizza, which was outstanding. Portions for items other than pizza were intentionally small per plate, so we could enjoy many different dishes and were very satisfied. Location: Poor The only downside would be the location. It may be inconvenient if you are not traveling by car. Although there is a bus stop right in front, there is essentially nothing nearby besides a convenience store and the lake.

  The made-to-order al...

  The made-to-order all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink Italian dining was wonderful! I also liked that the portions were small, so we could order a variety of dishes. Everything tasted great and looked beautiful—I was truly satisfied. The Onsen was also excellent, leaving my skin moisturized and smooth. And all the staff were very pleasant, so I had a comfortable stay. One thing I noticed was that the tea in the Room was powdered green tea. I would appreciate it if you could provide loose-leaf tea instead. Also, although this is due to nature and can’t be helped, there was very little water in Lake Akaya, so the view from the Room was mostly brown, which was very disappointing. I’d love to visit again next time.

During your stay, we offer a “full-order style dinner,” where freshly prepared dishes are ordered one plate at a time, and we are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed it to the fullest. To allow you to enjoy a wide variety of menu items, each dish is served in a modest portion size, and we are honored that you were satisfied. We are also very happy that you were able to fully enjoy our Onsen, known for its many benefits such as improving skin condition and relieving fatigue, and that you had a comfortable stay. We sincerely apologize that the tea in your Room did not meet your expectations. We will carefully consider your comments as valuable input for improving our services. Regarding the view of Lake Akaya as well, we regret that it did not meet your expectations even though it is due to natural conditions.   This is my second stay.

  This was our second stay. We came back because we couldn’t forget the wonderful memories from last time. The Facility itself shows its age, but the Room is kept very clean, so there were no issues at all. The large public bath also feels a bit old, but there are thoughtful touches for guests after bathing, and the care is truly just right. We’ve stayed at many Accommodations; while some aspects like the Facility or Room design may not be as stylish as others, the entire staff more than makes up for it. Above all, the meals stood out. The all-inclusive dining was made-to-order Italian, so we could choose only what we wanted, and each dish was served in small portions—perfect for us as a couple in our 40s. Of course tastes vary and I can’t say everything was amazing, but about 80% of the menu was delicious. What made the dining experience even better was how one male staff member spoke to us. He consistently used a gentle tone—suggesting we take a break with dessert once, and telling us it was fine to leave food behind and just enjoy what we liked. When we spoke to him, he didn’t talk too long; it was clear he tried to keep conversations light so as not to interrupt our meal. We experienced many other kind words and considerate gestures as well. When we stayed for the first time, that same staff member came over to our car before we left, said my name, and told me it was an honor to meet me. That made me truly happy. I’ve received many greetings at other Ryokan too, but this moved me in a way I can’t fully put into words. I wanted to thank them for that as well—that’s why we returned this time. Even though they remembered us better this visit, every staff member remained professional throughout until the very end. We will definitely come back for a third stay as well. Thank you in advance.

  It was a wonderful accommodation.

  This Accommodation appears to have been renovated, and the interiors and furnishings feel fresh and chic. The Onsen is also excellent, but above all, the food was truly outstanding. The all-inclusive plan—where drinks in your Room and with meals are free—is a nice touch. What impressed me most was dinner: instead of a standard set course, it’s an exclusive “free-course” style where you can order whatever you like, as much as you like. It’s not a typical buffet; you browse the menu while eating, place orders as you go, and each dish is freshly prepared and brought to your table. Individual portions are relatively small, but the variety is overwhelming—in a great way—so you can pace yourself and order according to your appetite. The seasoning felt slightly light overall, which I appreciated as someone who watches my blood pressure. And everything tasted delicious! For breakfast, you can choose either Western or Japanese style. I enjoyed the lightly seasoned Japanese breakfast, while my companion chose Western style and said the omelet was exceptional. The drinkable yogurt—apparently made by the proprietress—was also very good. I ended up giving full marks across the board: the staff’s smiles and their quick, helpful answers left a great impression. The Onsen Facility was clean, and there was also a posted mineral analysis sheet, which showed good attention to detail. This is an Accommodation I would love to visit again when I have the chance.

  It was a place I definitely want to visit again.

  We stayed on February 25. With our baby due soon, it was our last trip as a couple. To sum it up, we were 100% satisfied in every way and it’s a place we absolutely want to return to. As soon as we arrived, the staff warmly welcomed us and, before check-in, invited us to enjoy sparkling wine in the lounge—along with other drinks and light snacks. It was wonderful. We happily took them up on it, relaxed for a while, and then checked in. The hospitality from the proprietress, the manager, and each staff member was so pleasant that we were already thrilled. They even brought a cushion for my pregnant wife—such thoughtful care meant a lot to us. For dinner, we were told we could head to the restaurant anytime between 5:00 pm and 9:30 pm (I may be slightly off). When we sat down and looked around, we were surprised to see an authentic pizza oven. The property offers an all-inclusive plan, so dinner includes unlimited food and drinks. (Some items cost extra, but for normal dining and drinking there was absolutely no issue.) Rather than a buffet where dishes sit out, you order each item individually and can enjoy freshly made dishes as much as you like on the spot. And the food was unbelievably delicious… every dish was simply outstanding. Everything felt like it could be served at a fine-dining restaurant, and each plate was beautiful—like edible art. To have all of that included in an all-inclusive plan… we were completely won over. The head chef also came by to greet us, and explained that each dish is served in smaller portions so guests can try many different items. What a wonderful idea. We gladly took him up on it—and ordered until we were completely full. The morning bath and breakfast were also excellent. At checkout as well, they saw us off until our car disappeared from view. It was a truly perfect stay with nothing at all to complain about. They also had seasonal menu items, so we’d love to visit again in another season. We genuinely didn’t want to leave. We will definitely be back. Thank you very much!
