    As long as it doesn't rain...

    Although it was a bit disappointing not to be able to enjoy the garden due to the rain, I was truly impressed by the comfort of the Room, which exceeded my expectations. The spacious bath, in particular, provided a luxurious experience and offered ample space for complete relaxation. Additionally, the soothing music playing throughout the Hotel enhanced the overall atmosphere. The warmth of the fireplace was also delightful, providing both visual and physical comfort that brought peace to my heart. Despite the rain, I am very pleased with such a satisfying experience.

    Karuizawa Trip

    The Room was new, clean, and comfortable. The meals were thoughtfully prepared to avoid ingredients I dislike, and everything was delicious. I was deeply impressed by the staff's hospitality and had a wonderful travel experience! I would love to stay here again when visiting Karuizawa.

    The Room's TV remote was placed near the TV but did not work. Upon checking via the in-room phone, it was found that a dedicated remote was inside a box on the table. There were no explanations or instructions provided, leading to confusion due to the misleading placement of the remote.

    Reliable comfort that never disappoints

    We stayed to celebrate my husband's birthday. Having previously visited other accommodations in the same group, such as Fufu Atami's annex, Fufu Yamanakako, and Grandestyle, we have always enjoyed a comfortable stay and they remain our favorites. This was our first time staying at Old Karuizawa, but it did not disappoint with its exceptional space and service. The Onsen in the room maintained the perfect temperature at all times, allowing us to relax multiple times while resting our heads on the pillows. Although we didn’t end up using it, I thought it was a great idea that towels or additional tea could be delivered to an in-room delivery box connected by pressing a button—perfect for when you want privacy during your stay. The meals exceeded expectations; every dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Even though I felt too full to finish everything, I couldn’t resist eating more... And despite thinking I wouldn’t be able to eat breakfast after such indulgence at dinner, it was so good that I ended up overeating again! In terms of service, perhaps because they knew in advance about the celebration, we were guided to a private dining room for dinner—a thoughtful touch. Additionally, although we hadn’t paid attention to the Diamond Member benefits beforehand and weren’t expecting anything special from them—they called us regarding forgetting to hand over a complimentary gift included with those benefits! They even sent it via courier along with a handwritten letter afterward—such polite and sincere staff left me deeply impressed. From start to finish both my husband (who expressed great satisfaction) as well as myself felt completely relaxed thanks entirely due largely towards their consistently excellent hospitality & atmosphere provided throughout this memorable experience together here! Thank you very much everyone involved!

    We had an exceptional time.

    After attending a concert at Karuizawa Ohga Hall, I decided to stay overnight here instead of making it a day trip. It was my first time, so I was filled with both anxiety and anticipation. However, as soon as I arrived, all my worries disappeared thanks to the warm welcome from the staff, and I immediately felt relaxed. The gentle scent of spicy wood added to the sense of tranquility. The youthful energy of the staff was also delightful. Dinner was exceptional, utilizing local ingredients in creative ways. Soaking in the Onsen in my room helped melt away the fatigue from this summer's intense heat. Breakfast was also an unparalleled experience of high quality. I look forward to visiting again during a different season. Thank you for your hospitality!

    At check-in, the staff noticed that the name provided during the Reservation differed from the one written on the form and kindly corrected it on the spot. Later, I was touched to see that my corrected name was properly reflected on the dinner menu card. Additionally, I hadn’t realized there were IKYU member benefits, but they sent me a thoughtful apology letter along with a gift for the oversight. The meals, both breakfast and dinner, were incredibly delicious. The Hotel's Facility and services were excellent, but what left a lasting impression was their meticulous attention to detail. I would love to visit again when I want to relax. Thank you very much!

    What is hospitality?

    While staying at accommodations across the whole country, I heard from the manager in Hakone that they have a facility in Karuizawa. I made a reservation more than three months in advance as an opportunity arose. It is not a place worth spending time and money to visit. I heard that chefs from all over the country gather for meetings under Katō Pleasure's leadership, but do they actually taste-test? The food was truly terrible. The hospitality was even worse. It was disappointing. Hakone has much more energy, and the food is delicious.

    The room's bath and meals are excellent at this accommodation.

    The accommodation itself is compact, but the rooms are spacious and beautifully clean, which was impressive. The private bath in the room was the most comfortable among all accommodations I have stayed at before. The reclining bath was spacious, and there was a waterproof tablet you could bring into the bathroom, allowing for a very relaxing time. Since the room was on the first floor, it didn’t get much sunlight; however, the lush greenery visible through the large window created a refreshing atmosphere. The meals were quite hearty and delicious with a variety of ingredients used, making dining an enjoyable experience. This accommodation is perfect for those who want to spend their time quietly and peacefully. I would love to visit other accommodations in this chain as well!

    It was excellent!

    This was my first time staying here. The staff were very kind and comforting, and the overall atmosphere was stylish and pleasant. Although it is a new Hotel, it somehow had a nostalgic charm that made it a wonderful space. The food was especially outstanding, with each dish being both beautiful and delicious. Next time, I would love to visit in winter to enjoy the Room's ethanol stove! Thank you very much.

However, here they listened very carefully and only adjusted the specific ingredients I didn't like. The Facility, Onsen, service, and surrounding environment all provided an extraordinary experience that allowed me to fully relax.

    A Long-Awaited Trip to Karuizawa

    A trip to Karuizawa after several years, and choosing Fufu Karuizawa was the perfect decision. Room As expected, being new, it’s clean. The view isn’t expansive due to the low-rise structure, but the calming sight of trees is pleasant. The bed is fluffy and very comfortable for sleeping. Onsen Although not a natural hot spring source, it’s a colorless and transparent Onsen. For those who prefer cloudy or strongly scented hot springs, this might feel like regular water as it has no color or scent. Meals Having stayed at accommodations in a similar price range about 10 times before, the taste of the meals here is by far the best. The additional teppanyaki cutlet and seasoned rice were exquisite. Service As others have mentioned similarly, their service maintains a balanced approach without being overly intrusive or distant. Considering that guests come from various backgrounds, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach; however, Fufu properties consistently avoid deeply engaging interactions (in a good way). Those who enjoy chatting might find this slightly lacking. For us, it was perfect!

    Thank you for your patronage!

    This was my first trip to Karuizawa, and this accommodation was the second one I visited after Fufu Nikko. The entire accommodation had a modern and stylish design. The room was spacious and very clean. Due to the altitude of Karuizawa and its atmospheric pressure, my health condition worsened, and I couldn't have dinner, so I rested in the room. However, I am grateful for the flexible response from the staff. When I recovered the next day and went for breakfast, I appreciated the kind words from the staff. However, I felt there were differences in service quality depending on the staff member. Perhaps this stood out because Fufu Nikko's service was impeccable with attention to every detail. I might personally prefer a more luxurious style over a purely stylish one. There were many aspects where comparisons with Fufu Nikko came up for me. Of course, each has its own unique charm. Reviews are ultimately subjective preferences; you won't know until you experience it yourself! Thank you for your kind support during my stay!

    I stayed as a Mother's Day gift. The room had a view of greenery, was spacious, and my mother was very satisfied. All the staff were very kind and celebrated Mother's Day, which made her very happy. The food was wonderful and we were extremely satisfied. We will use this accommodation again.

    Reliable Fufu-san.

    Fufu offers consistent quality no matter the location. Our stay at the newly opened "Shizuyou no Mori" was very comfortable, with its stylish architecture and beautifully designed, high-sense Room. The courtyard terrace provides a wide selection of free drinks, and in the evening, you can enjoy a luxurious and moody atmosphere by watching the firewood burn. One of Fufu's most appreciated services is their quick replacement system for used towels or glassware; simply place them in the designated box in your Room and turn on the lamp to have them replaced promptly. Thanks to this service, we were able to enjoy multiple baths in our Room with fresh towels each time. Each Room is equipped with a bioethanol stove that allows you to relax while watching the flames; however, we did not use it this time—a slight regret on our part. We rated dining 4 stars because some dishes were slightly too strongly flavored for our taste, but they were visually stunning and reflected seasonal themes beautifully. Our Room was on the first floor, so we initially worried about noise from upstairs but had no issues at all—it was perfectly quiet throughout our stay. Compared to another Fufu property in Old Karuizawa that seems to attract younger guests, Shizuyou no Mori has a more mature clientele like us who prefer a tranquil environment. For those seeking peace and quiet, this Facility is highly recommended. We are already considering staying at Fufu again during autumn—thank you very much!

    First Trip to Karuizawa

    Thank you for your hospitality. As fans of the Fufu series, my spouse and I had been looking forward to this stay for quite some time. We thoroughly enjoyed both the Onsen and the meals. Experiencing heavy snowfall during our stay, along with being stranded at the station for two hours due to train delays, also became a memorable part of our trip. We are considering staying again in a different season next time.

    We had a wonderful family trip.

    Having previously stayed at "Yoko no Kaze," we decided to visit here this time. The Room was more spacious than expected, allowing the three of us to relax comfortably. The large bath was a delight, especially for my daughter who thoroughly enjoyed it. While the dinner at "Yoko no Kaze" was incredibly delicious, we were equally satisfied with the meal here. The dishes, carefully prepared using Nagano's specialties and seasonal ingredients, were truly delightful. We hope to visit again in the future! It would have been nice if parking assistance had been available.

    I think it’s fine as long as you don’t expect customer service.

    I stay here frequently, and the service style is completely different from other places. To be honest, as others have written, those who routinely use this class of Accommodation may feel the service can come across as somewhat distant. This isn’t the kind of service you’d expect at a high-brand property—personally I do consider Fufu to be a brand—but if you don’t seek that type of hospitality, it shouldn’t be an issue. The quality of the food and baths is better than other Hotels in the same price range (around 200,000 yen), so I plan to continue staying here. However, in midwinter it’s tough when there’s no floor heating after getting out of the bath. It was on the first night but not on the second—how should I understand that? Is this also something we shouldn’t expect? Also, during meals there was a guest who spoke loudly with staff nonstop—as if they rarely dine out—and it truly ruined the dining experience for us. I would like guests to behave with a bit more consideration. People who regularly stay at high-brand Accommodations such as Fufu or Hira○tsu have written similar things. If you only come once a year, it will likely become a wonderful memory; but for Multiple Night Stay visits or frequent stays, I hope more attention will be paid to these finer details. For brand-minded guests, everything except the service should not disappoint.

    The meals are delicious.

    The meals are very delicious. If I had to say, it's a bit disappointing that the children's meals are not specifically made for them, but are just simplified versions of adult meals. I would like a little more effort put into the children's meals. Perhaps they do not anticipate guests with children. It might be a place for adults to enjoy, and we might have been out of place. The room is very satisfying. The amenities are impeccable. I think it would be better to have a large public bath, open-air bath, and sauna. Overall, 4 to 5 points (out of 5).

    With a 2-year-old

    It was our child's first trip since being born. I always enjoyed staying at a nice property as a reward for working hard and traveling, but I hesitated to do so with a child. I thought I wouldn't be able to relax and would only cause trouble for those around me. This time, I was very hesitant, but after seeing Instagram posts of families staying at properties, I decided to give it a try. There were times when we spoke loudly in the lovely lobby space, but since the bath, room, and courtyard were cold and not crowded, and we were given a private dining room with a door, it was less stressful than I expected. The room was so wonderful that I thought I would love to live in a place like this. The meals were all delicious, and they provided rice, miso soup, and apple juice for our 2-year-old. The sashimi was incredibly delicious, making our child's first taste of raw fish a luxurious experience. They remembered our names, which made our child very happy and excited. They also prepared amenities and a change of clothes for our child, and they pushed the beds together for us. We are grateful for everyone's kindness. It was Fufu's first time in Kyu-Karuizawa, so we thought we'd like to visit other places as well. Our favorite until now was Asaba in Shuzenji, but we fell in love with Fufu Kyu-Karuizawa (including the price). We are working hard again from today. Thank you very much. We will work hard so that we can visit again.

    As expected of "Fufu"

    The space, Room, and cuisine were all very satisfying. As expected from "Fufu." I'm looking forward to visiting the next Facility. However, there are two disappointing points. The timing of clearing the dishes during breakfast was too early. We were still eating. There was no send-off at the time of departure. This is unthinkable at other "Fufu" locations. What a shame.

    It was a disappointing stay.

    I have stayed at most of the "Fufu" properties every time they open. This time, I used the one in Old Karuizawa for a multiple night stay for my husband's birthday. The stylish lounge and room surrounding the courtyard allowed us to relax. Dinner was Japanese cuisine... What was very disappointing was that right behind us while we were dining was the teppanyaki area!! It was so close that we could hear the conversations with customers about training in France, which we could tolerate, but the smell of grilled meat was overwhelming, and it seemed like the smell would cling to our bodies even though we had just shampooed in the bath! Even when sashimi was served, the door separating the grilled meat area wasn't closed. Eventually, we decided to have the rest in the room. The cold kamameshi that was brought to us (it was cold, so the flavor was strong and brown, but what kind of kamameshi was it?) and something fried with potato starch? It was so cold and crunchy that I couldn't tell what kind of tempura it was. The dimly lit room service and the cold meal that was brought, I took one bite and couldn't eat any more. As for dessert, the person who lit the bioethanol fireplace brought dessert with one hand holding bioethanol and the other holding a tray. We were told to make tea ourselves with the tea provided in the room! The bathtub in the bathroom was spacious, but in contrast, the washing area was so narrow that no matter how much we tried to avoid it, the shower and shampoo seemed to get into the bathtub. I was really looking forward to visiting Karuizawa after a long time, but I spent it with a feeling of disappointment.

    Left-handed

    It was my first time visiting here. During dinner, we had a side-by-side seat by the window. For breakfast, they prepared a private room for us. At that moment, I thought, "Huh?" I hadn't mentioned being left-handed when making the reservation, so naturally, the chopsticks were set for right-handed use during dinner (which was not a problem at all). However, at breakfast, the chopsticks were set for left-handed use. All the dishes with handles that were served afterward were arranged to be easily accessible for left-handed people. I've stayed at various places before, but this was the first time experiencing such a thing. It was an event that left me in awe. When I confirmed with the staff, they said, "Thank you for noticing." Needless to say, the meals were delicious, with various creative seasonings, and I enjoyed the seasonal ingredients without getting bored. Since the hotel itself is new, the facilities are, of course, excellent, but the room was so advanced that there were things I didn't notice without an initial explanation. I regretted not exploring the room myself, as there wasn't enough time to explain all the facilities. I will visit again if I have the opportunity.

    I was able to stay at such a wonderful Hotel, and it was very healing and refreshing! The food, Room, and service were truly excellent, just as the high-rated Reviews by others mentioned. Of course, I would like to repeat my stay, but I also want to try other Fufu Hotels.
